Donald Trump reveals radical plan for a more powerful Air Force. Yes, it is satire but it had me rollin'.

Idiot

So why don't you just leave Colin? Canada might start you at QB. Kaepernick: I won't stand 'to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people'. Yo Colin, are you saying the US is so oppressive that it elected a Black President twice even though he's worse at Presidentin' than you are at football? Most of your largest cities with large Black populations are run by Democrats. Who's doing the oppressing and who do you always vote for? Perhaps what you are pissed off about comes from those who YOU put in office. Over and over and over again.

Improving Indoor Air Quality

These are the best houseplants to improve indoor air quality.

The bromeliad plant got a gold star from the team, managing to clean up 80 percent of the pollutants in six of the eight VOCs tested. Others scored highly for certain pollutants: the dracaena absorbed 94 percent of the chemical acetone, used in nail polish remover.

Spider plants, meanwhile, were very fast at removing VOCs, starting work just a few minutes after being placed inside its container.

Rogue Binks

Heh. Assault Ewoks.

Iran

I expect that this will turn into something more before Obama's term is up. Iran confrontations with US Navy up 50% this year.

Air Conditioning

So what's the deal in Baltimore? It's been hotter in the past in August (record was 102 degrees in 1948 ). Were schools closed then too? Dozens of Baltimore County schools closed due to the heat. How about turning on the a/c?

On this date 80 years ago.

A "blown periphery" parachute malfunction causes the canopy to contort into the shape of a giant brassiere, and so is referred to as the "Mae West" malfunction.

1) From the linked article:
"Dozens of Baltimore County schools that don't have air conditioning are closed Friday because of the heat, the AP reports."

2) Did schools in 1948 open before Labor Day? And in 1948 was there a difference in sweating at home with no a/c and sweating at school with no a/c?

15 McCloud re-runs are getting to be much for a dirty old man like me. The
other night, they ran the one with the epic cat fight betwixt Linda
Evans and Stefanie Powers. Last night they ran one, "The Solid Gold
Swingers", which guest-starred this actress that gets my motor running. Long and lean, leggy,
willowy. I'd seen her before, particularly and episode of Banacek.

I had to look her up. Joanna Pettet. Look her up, pictures in her prime. You won't be disappointed.

And she's had quite a life. She ate lunch with Sharon Tate in the house the day before the Manson murders.

Then filming something in the Philippines, she got kidnapped by rebels,
but managed to get away. After that, she hung it up. Then her son died
from an heroin overdose, and she just sort of withdrew and became a
recluse.

71 I rarely remember my dreams, so when I do it's usually a significant dream. A month ago I dreamed that I was asleep in bed and it was raining and the roof was leaking and waking me up and I was really annoyed because I replaced the roof last summer. Then I woke up and realized it was a dream and thought how weird I would dream that. And suddenly I knew what the dream was telling me - I'm literally sleeping while the roof is crashing in on me. That motivated me to take steps to fix a major problem in my life that I'd been ignoring. So dreams can be important.

My large, male (but neutered) cat Dexter always is near me whenever I am at home.
One day I am in the garage, tidying up. Dexter is lying down on a tool box.
I had left a small opening in the garage door to get some better circulation, maybe about 10 inches.
In come these 2 little dogs, small chihuahua types. Tearing around like mad, sniffing, barking. You get the idea.
Dexter leaps in to action.
He takes out one dog with one paw and the other with the other, howling like a banshee, swear to god, never heard him sound like this ever or since, and out the 2 dogs go, tail between the legs, yelping for mercy.
Dexter meowed something that resembled "and STAY out!" and came back inside.
I lowered the garage door.

94 Willy J,
Here's my view, for what it's worth which isn't much.
Try not to stress out over something that may not ever be a problem. Mixed race children are extremely common now, and plenty of them don't become resentful of their white relatives.
Be a good granddaddy, and until you see evidence of a problem, assume the best.

98 92 Why do we have storm warnings but not serial killer warnings?

I once looked on a site that showed sex offenders in my area. Scary.
Of course the problem with the sex offender list is that they don't differentiate between rapists and child molesters and some kid who got drunk and took a leak next to a gas station.

100 From the dream link:

Back in the early 1900's, studies showed that most people dreamed in back and white. When color TV became popular, more people reported dreaming in color. One study looked at this correlation and found that people who grew up watching black and white television dream in monochrome more often than those raised watching color television.

Today, individuals over 55 who grew up with monochrome televisions dream in black and white about a quarter of the time. People in the same age group who had color TV only dream in black and white about 8 percent of the time. And individuals under 25 who grew up almost exclusively watching color TV only dream in black and white 4.4 percent of the time.

In 1900, photographs were in black and white. What about people in 1800 and before? Paintings were always in color.

I called my cousin in to close the game and nobody showed up. I called time out and went to the mound posses off asking the players where he was. They pointed to him in a lawn chair with two hot girls by his side. He had a huge black penis hanging out of his shorts and had big smile on his face.

167 I see Yahoo is reporting that Trump erased 7 of the 12 point deficit in head to head numbers with Clinton.

The real problem for Clinton is that many people don't have a clue what "Alt-Right" is, but they think that they might be part of it, and Hillary Clinton just called them a "racist".

Trump's "racist" comments were directed at illegals, but Clinton's were directed at US citizens.

197 Greetings:

One of the things that my parents (one male, one female) spent some time and effort transmitting to me, mostly through repetition, was their concept of hospitality, how one acts as a host, and how one acts as a guest. So, my analysis finds dear Colin to have violated his employer's hospitality by creating this distraction while he was on the time-clock. In essence, he has taken the time he sold to them and converted it to his own demented purpose. What he does on his own time is his own business. When he uses his employer's time to inflict his juvenile socio-political views on his employer's customers is abuse.

The mealy-mouth responses of today's so Progressive NFL is unsurprising. It has been permitting its players to wear those divine little skullcaps they have affected for the last too many years during the playing of our National Anthem without a mention or attempt at correction.

Lastly, I recall my father mentioning to one of my associates who went beyond his pale that "Next time you see your parents, tell them I said thay still have some work to do."

Some of the kids are tweeting, and not one has been complimentary. I just rolled my eyes and thought it was a stupid nothing burger, but the college player tweets, well, let's just say they are less sanguine.

Don't knock it unless you have tried it. Everybody likes pie alamode, right? With ice cream, a dairy product. Cheese is a dairy product, too. And the "sharpness" of aged Cheddar complements very nicely the sweetness of the heavily-sugared apple pie filling. The cheese makes the apple taste sweeter, and the apple makes the cheese taste more sharp.

Try it some time. Use real "old" or "sharp" cheddar cheese. Process cheese will. not. do. And if by chance, you don't like it, the remainder of the brick of cheese will make some awesome grilled-cheese sammiches.

Then he found she was cheating on him with a white guy and left, but they got briefly back together. She announced she was pregnant and insisted her ex-husband was the dad, but he was sceptical - especially when the kid was born with blond hair and blue eyes. He had DNA testing done and found out that he is indeed the father of this little blond kid. The recessive genes won out in that case.

Ancestry.com claims that you can delete your tests ... but then there is wording in their privacy statement about court orders and being able to produce those results later ... Fuckers.

I might be into getting a PO box and throw away email and having a test done. I'm not sure why those companies would need any personal information, at all, to run the tests. In fact, they don't need shit. Then again, getting PO boxes or throw away email accounts often require stupid shit like cell phone numbers and the like.

Pancreatic being especially rough. Given the low survival rate. But also, the last three or so cases of the stuff where I've personally known the patient or a family member of theirs, there have been brief false remissions, long enough to let people get their hopes up before cruelly dashing them again.

Is that a sign of progress on the clinical side? Could these short interludes of improvement be lengthened bit by bit and perhaps turned into genuine remission? Dunno yet.

WillyJ, this is a once in a lifetime event. You may only get the chance to see this only one time in your lifetime, unless you're willing to travel to many exotic locales. Like seeing Halley's Comet. 352 Long time lurker de-lurking. My wife is Korean and I am a nice jewish boy. We have one child, now 22 and in college. We were married in Korea and came to the US when our son was 6 weeks old. He and my wife have always been accepted by my family so no problems on that front.
When I got out of the Army we moved from Ft. Bragg to Los Angeles, my home town. Our son went to K-12 here in public schools. He never had problems due to race except from some asians. We know for a fact that some Korean mothers did not want their kids to be friends with him.
Our son was involved in athletics and most of his friends came from the basketball circuit. Not a lot of Asians, but a cross section of who plays fairly high level basketball. One thing you should know; in SouCal an Asian White mix isn't that uncommon.
He currently attends K-State. There he is kind of exotic but this really hasn't been a problem for him. (He told me that he almost got into a bar fight with a drunk who hassled him for being a "damn Mexican"). People there accept or reject him for what he is, not his parentage. That is also who he picks his friends, as we taught him growing up. The racial categorizing, the hate whitey embrace your other side, all that bullshit, he ignores. We aren't worried about him being turned by a girl, as Kaepernick apparently was, as he hates bossy women so the sjw's don't stand a chance with him.
Sorry this is so long, I just felt like sharing.

367 As far as the dream article goes, sleep paralysis is pretty awful, but I think the false awakenings are even worse.

I had one event of multiple false awakenings in my early twenties that was beyond description. I dreamed I was a businessman in a hotel on some kind of trip, and woke up, only the room I woke up into wasn't exactly like mine, a lot of things were off. I then woke up in the hotel again, then in another not-right version of my room, and kept repeating what must have been a dozen times. When I finally woke up in my real room, I was in such a blind panic that I got up straight away and got crazy-active to make sure I wouldn't drop off back to sleep, for fear that I'd wake up again in some other weird place.

I still wonder if, at some point, I didn't accidentally slip into an alternate reality where everybody's insane. Because hey, just look at the world as it is right now.

A few years ago, I was in Salt Lake City with friends visiting from Italy. One was a woman who came from a tiny village in the North where almost no one ever left and they had a solid idea of their ancestry. When we visited the Mormon Library, she was highly suspicious of the entire works and kept asking why they had to have all this ancestral info. She found it creepy. Another friend was from the very South of Italy and he was disappointed that there were few records of his family, but when he checked on some of his German wife's relatives , there was a wealth of records. When we asked why there were so many documents for the Germans and so few for the Italians, our kindly docent explained that after World War II, the Mormons were able to acquire a lot of genealogical records from...the Nazis.

Our friend from the North let out a loud, "AH HA!"

Not like this Buzz. This is much more of a real time adjustment than ever before.
Places would sell the something at a low price and that price would be rock steady for a week or until they sold out.

393 To be pedantic, Eddington's solar eclipse light bending experiment didn't "prove" GR. It was a confirmation of one it's early and surprising predictions, that gravity would be bend light by twice the amount expected.

It was something that said, Hey, Einstein is likely very much on to something.

In the century since, there's been a hell of lot more confirmation of GR's predictions, the latest being LIGO's finally detecting gravitational radiation.

GR is absolutely beautiful. Classy(ical) and elegant. Luxurious even. :-)

But it's classical. And doesn't quantatize. GR and quantum theory just don't gee haw. Yet.

But every observation so far does nothing but narrow down just how good General Relativity is.

I might have to get some again.

I got them previously for my cat (when she was younger, to keep her from trying to get outside to chew on grass).

Didn't notice air quality difference; but they're easy to grow (they grow buds on stems, clip one, put it in water for a week, voila, roots new plant).
You can get 1 plant to half a dozen in a couple months.

Hard to kill from over/under watering (water 1-2 times a week, or whatever) and grow quickly even with a cat chewing on them from time to time (3 plants did fine for 1 cat, not sure how more cats would affect that)..
Grabbed my initial clippings from a co-worker's office plant; that I don't think had been near a window in years.

If you're not a houseplant person (I'm not); it's a plant that very well may live in spite of you.
Which if it's doing duty as cat toy while you're occasionally remembering it needs water? Yeah... that's important.

I met my genealogical Grandfather once. He was in a tiny house, drinking beer when I was about ten years old.

He had sent my Mother a letter, asking how she was doing and offered her some money... (odd, because it was obvious that he didn't have any).

I found this out when I had to apply for a replacement birth certificate and had to know my Mother's maiden name.

(I was a wild-child in my early twenties and I had lost my license for DUI, Reckless Operation, Speeding, etc.)

He was an obviously lapsed Jew. His Mother had emigrated from Slovakia.

My Father's parents were both German and changed their name when they emigrated from Munich before the United States entered the War.

I never learned any Yiddish, but I learned some German as a youth.

So... saying that I'm "half German, half Jewish" isn't actually the case. I'm half German, 1/8 Jewish Slovak.

...but All-American.

Did take the "Advanced Placement Test" I think it was for 3 college courses. 2 @ US history and one in "Sociology". Well even back then at 17 I figured out Sociology was just BS.

Mostly good. My Father is not well, but he's a tough-ass guy. He's losing it a bit, mentally, which worries me.

He had an artery "routered" in June and may need another in October. I've been doing his yard work, (for the most-part), since then. He's stubborn and loves his riding mower.

I go over there and grill some fish and chicken for his diet once a week. He loves it when I cook and I love to do it.

457 nice. Many years ago I worked the graveyard shift and would be
eating fried chicken and drinking beers at the local diner as the cops
rolled in for breakfast.

Heh. Reminds me of when I worked in the lumber mill in the early *mumble*. Was on swing shift. Would hit the bar at 1am and cash our checks, order a basket of fresh shrimp and a beer, then a six pack to go. That was BC. (Before children.)

Oh, and grandson is dying to show me his new Jr ROTC belt buckle when they come over for breakfast. (from what I hear)

They stink again this year. 2-14 if they are lucky. No running game, no offensive or defensive line, no WR's worth drafting for the IR list of a fantasy football team.

Last Year at least Cutler was not the problem. It was the OL's inability to protect him.
