6 That Wash Exam article is pure bullshit. Obastard is saving Medicare money by denying claims. I went through the ER last year with chest pains. Medicare denied any coverage because I hadn't obtained prior permission to be admitted.

The government's second hand smoking "study" was proven in court to be the biggest lies packed out by the government since the SS scam. The judge actually threw them out of court.

11 Despite government data supporting Donald Trump's claim that blacks are worse off under President Obama, the White House insisted Thursday that blacks have made progress under the first black president and that the Republican nominee would reverse those gains.

Mr. Trump's pitch that black Americans have "nothing to lose" by voting for him is clearly irritating the White House, which tried but failed to muster much convincing evidence that life for blacks in America has improved over the past eight years.

15 so when hasn't the MSM not covered for the Clintons? one of the things her royal Lie-ness mnetioned in her speech in Reno yesterday was about Trump's org being sued for discrimination in housing. Wash Post ran an article on that early this year. The case was settled in 1975, but don't bring up her cattle futures trading because that's old news and she already answered that question at least three different times and with different answers and anyway no reasonable prosecutor would think she had any intent to do anything wrong.

19 Well, I had the most hilarious dream last night- one that I devoutly hope comes true.

I am watching Trump and Hill debate. Hill is drunk or sick. She says the n word instead of "trigger"and then says, "Oh, shit, I'm sorry" on national tv. The camera shows the stricken faces of the msm panel and then cuts to Trump, who has an expression of both incredulity and concern on his face. She then has another slip of the tongue and refers to "k*kes." She apologizes again and then has a bad coughing jag. She tries to drink water and then coughs again and spews it all over the podium. I am laughing hysterically as Trump says gently, "Mrs. Clinton, do you need help?"

Ah, what a beautiful dream. I'm not banking on it happening, but wouldn't it be wonderful if it did? There would be no way to spin it.

In the dream, I don't have a computer and am thinking, "I can't wait to read what the Horde has to say about this!"

20 Germany's Angela Merkel target of an assassination plot

This may shock you, but British tabloids sometimes print things that aren't entirely accurate.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen this in the Krautish press and that's because it basically isn't there.

I double-checked by going to google.de and seeing what news stories there are about Merkel in Prag. There are a zillion stories saying she got booed over her immigration policies.

There are two notices that someone tried to force his Mercedes into her convoy. There are no stories claiming that this was an assassination attempt.

Growing old does suck, believe me, I know. But it does not have to be that way for a city or town. What they need is jobs. If the jobs were there people would come to live there. 33 "Obastard is saving Medicare money by denying claims."

Also, they are slow-walking the reimbursement process. I've heard of surgeons having to wait several full years to finally get paid for having performed particular procedures. It's a financial gut punch for them.

When you combine that with the low payments proffered by Medicare, that's a recipe for having a couple of different things happen:

(a) Surgical practices refusing Medicare, and/or,

(b) Fed-up surgeons retiring and not being promptly replaced.

What they did was deny payment on some Medicare claims and use the money to try and prop up Obama Care exchanges. Denying claims definitely saves the Government money. If they do enough of it Medicare will evaporate like Obama Care exchanges.

When things get crooked enough then federal programs will expire because every program will attempt to eat the entire federal budget. Systemic collapse.

Mueller's parents have been criticizing first the State Dept., and now DWB for not trying to rescue their foolish and reckless daughter from the inevitable consequences of her own incredibly stupid choices.

DWB simply pointed out that Mueller didn't work for them, and that if she had worked for them, they never would have authorized her to go to Syria, as it was far too dangerous a place for an American female. DWB said it can't spend its time and resources trying to rescue people who are not connected to it. A perfectly reasonable position, which Mueller's unreasonable parents can't seem to grasp.

When you see things like the below in a poll, you can be certain that someone is rigging the numbers. This is a Fox5 News Atlanta poll for Georgia that has Trump and hillary tied:

The survey was weighted for age, race, gender, party affiliation, and region using propensity scores. Weighting benchmarks were determined using historical turnout data and internal projections

Internal projections means they will themselves determine what the poll result will be.

He went on to explain how in the black community when he was a boy, the preachers were the ones who were living in the biggest, nicest houses, driving the shiny new Cadillac cars, and getting "the best part of the chicken" when they were invited to dinner.

Womack looked at them and said, man, this is the life for me!

72 Heh.... fellow some time back had an amusing idea.

He proposed going down to mexico and driving back a vehicle with Mexican tags, or just buying a set of Mexican plates for his car here, and then putting his license away forever.

No insurance, no license, no registration with the county, no nothing, and, this being Austin, not a damned thing anybody could do about it.

Let 'em try to collect.

Easier to just take the plates off of a car that's already here.
What are they going to do??

73 57 There's been a flurry of good news reports on the F-35 program lately...

The DoD spin machine, at least, is fully operational.

Pilots under 136 pounds aren't allowed to fly any F-35 variant. Pilots under 165 pounds have a 1-in-4 chance of death and 100 percent chance of serious neck injury upon ejecting, according to the testing office.

Absolutely. The most important projection right now is what percentage of republican and independent voters HIGHER than last election will show up, and what LOWER percentage of democrats will show up. Compared to four years ago. Use the same percentages as 2012? That's insane.

You can 'sort of' extrapolate based on the parties primaries.

Mueller wasn't assisting DWB. She had no training in computers or setting up a satellite computer system. She had wanted to go to Syria to observe conditions there, so she could write about it on her blog. Her boyfriend, who was the one hired by DWB to install the computer, tried to talk her out of going, but she insisted.

She had no purpose in Syria other than as a sightseer. DWB was not responsible for her decision to go to Syria. DWB's responsibility was to its own workers. If DWB could have helped Mueller without risking harm to their own workers, then certainly they should have done so. But they felt that their primary responsibility was to safeguard their own people, and that was not unreasonable.

88 "There's been a flurry of good news reports on the F-35 program lately... The DoD spin machine, at least, is fully operational."

Meanwhile, Dr. Gilmore, the chief weapons tester for the five-sided loony bin, who has a considerable degree of latitude and autonomy from what the politicians and generals want, is as skeptical as ever about the success of the program.

His office now projects that when the F-35 finally has been declared to be at initial operational capability by all three services, it will have cost to date a staggering $400B (!!!) and it won't be genuinely combat ready yet in any of its variants, with an indeterminate price tag remaining to try to make it thus ready. If it ever can be.

"Pilots under 136 pounds aren't allowed to fly any F-35 variant. Pilots under 165 pounds have a 1-in-4 chance of death and 100 percent chance of serious neck injury upon ejecting, according to the testing office."

Note also: pilots under 165 pounds are statistically strongly likely to be female pilots. And thus unable to safely operate in the jet.

If the F-35 were a collegiate athletics program, they'd be getting hit with the million pound shithammer of Title IX doom right about now. Discrimination against chicks! Male chauvinist pigs! Time to trot out the lawsuits and consent decrees.

This is a tangent, but perhaps the thread will indulge me.

I am big and strong, but I'm not a natural athlete. I worked hard enough to get good at some things, but you know it was obvious in fifth grade who was athletically gifted.

My ex-wife is a tiny person. Her whole family is not large. But her Dad was an Olympic hockey player, her brothers were Boston All-Schoolboy (that's a Thing there) hockey players. She was accomplished enough as a figure skater to take a year off Jr. High to compete.

So my theory was that if we combined our genes we'd get big strong boys who are awesome at sports.

I have small boys who hate sports.

Did they have a moral duty to negotiate for her release, um no. She wasn't invited or an employee. Did they have a moral duty to at least provide the family information in the family's efforts to get her released, yes.

107 "Sounds bad, but how do those figures compare against other ejection

Badly. These aren't promising numbers. The military aeromedical community were reportedly agog when they saw the test results.

"Getting shot through a plexiglass bubble six inches above one's
head by a rocket chair is not a teacup ride at the state fair."

That wouldn't be too fun. The rule for a while now has been that either the entire canopy gets jettisoned early in the ejection sequence, or an embedded thread of explosive in the transparency shatters it to let the seat and aviator depart without being shredded in the process.

The problem specific to the F-35 is the _wunderwaffen_ virtual reality helmet. The thing is quite big and heavy compared to a traditional flight helmet. The brute physics of ejection -- the high initial acceleration and then the turbulent airloads once out of the jet -- don't match up well to such a massive draggy object on the ol' noggin.

___________________

Maybe, but we live in a country where the media refused to show all the people falling/jumping out of the WTC on and after 9/11, because they were afraid it might cause "anti-Muslim" backlash.

On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, I spent the day looking at some of the YouTube videos I had not seen before. Horrible stuff. Dozens of office workers trapped on one floor, most had stripped down to their underwear due to the intense heat, hanging out of the windows, gasping for air, crying, waving signs asking for help. Another video of a lone woman, wandering around (appeared to be in shock) on one floor that was in ruins, with the outer wall missing. She comes to the edge and peers out, then goes back to walking around. No way out. Audio tape of some poor guy trapped with some others, calling 911, asking why no one has come to help them; it's been hours. His voice breaking, he says he and the other have young kids at home, they're not ready to die yet. Then you hear him screaming in terror at the end just before the connection breaks.

But the media won't play that stuff, and won't let anyone talk about the millions of Muslims that Obama has imported here since 9/11, or the hundreds of thousands more Syrians that Hillary has promised to import if she's elected. No, we just get more happy-talk bullshit about how wonderful "diversity" is, and how anybody who says otherwise is just a hateful bigot and raaaaaacist.

It's no wonder young Americans like Kayla Mueller are so clueless about Muslim terrorists. The MSM and the education system in the U.S. don't want them to know the truth, and work very hard to keep it from them.

I have 3 siblings. The two older ones are baseball fans because we all have memories of our baseball loving mom taking us to day games at County Stadium to see the Braves. Even though I was far too little to know what was going on, I associated baseball with fun times and summer. The Braves left when my younger brother was a toddler and he has no memory of them. He is interested only in football. Maybe that early exposure influences kids in some way even when they are not paying attention.

As you may not know, I have been quite unhappy in my employment within this organization for some time.

Therefore I am planning to go on strike at 3:15pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2016.

Now, don't blame yourself.

It's really nobody's fault.

...Except maybe....Daaad! Oh, I wanted to be a Pancreas. But, no! That wasn't good enough for him. We're Cardiac Muscles not some la-di-da Pancreas, he'd always say!

Well, what about my dreams, Daaaaad! What about my dreams!!!!!

...

...

...

*ahem*

Well anyway. Strike. Tuesday. 3:15pm

Cordially,

210 Complexity in a system is good for corruption:

Mylan says it just cut the price of EpiPens in half - but here's the fine print

In other words, coupons reduce the cost to the patient at the point of sale, increasing access, yes, but also helping companies retain consumers who might otherwise be tempted to seek out more affordable options. And the list price paid by insurers remains high.

One day the T burned out, so it said "REN AL TOOLS"

227 K2, aka 'Spice', is not a single distinct organic molecule. It is a variety of synthetic analogues of the molecule THC, the active ingredient in pot. As one analogue gets banned, they make another new unique molecule to get around the ban.

And you won't test positive for THC if you use an analogue, in general. So the new analogue is temporarily legal, and won't cause you to fail a piss test. That's the attractions of the analogues.

The downsides, however, are fucking massive. THC has been empirically tested by humans for thousands of years; it's effects and side effects are well known. But you start monkeying with the base molecule, and NOBODY knows how it will react with your body.

There are *thousands* of possible THC analogues.

I've told this story before, but for those who haven't read it: during the filming of Mad World, a small piece of land owned by the songwriter Jimmy Van Heusen was rented by United Artists to build the Ray and Irwin gas station. One day, on his way to the local airport, Van Heusen saw the set and figured it was a real station which his agent had allowed to be constructed there.

Over the weekend, director Stanley Kramer shot Jonathan Winters' demolition of the station. Come Monday morning, Van Heusen drives back from the airport and, seeing the destruction, races home and frantically calls up his agent,, deathly afraid that the station had blown up over the weekend and he was going to be sued over it!

2. Some racist people claim to be 'Alt-Right'
3. Brietbart.com claims to be the voice of the Alt-right. (Even though it's not clear that they're using the same definition as the people in 1 and 2.)
4. Steve Bannon joined the Trump Campaign.

Therefore, Donald Trump and all his supprters are racist.

That's basically the argument. "Alt-right" is a designation that's meaningless to be used as an actual descriptor because there isn't really a set definition of beliefs that qualifies as it's ideology, so it's only purpose is for Hillary to Tar the Trump campaign.

Ideologies are notoriously hard to define - look at the consternation occurring right now over the definition of "Conservative." That doesn't mean a new, recognizable body of thought doesn't exist, although it does make it a useful exercise to try and develop the most accurate definition possible.

A key point is that the alt-right is pretty sure the alt-right exists. So is (as you point out) CEO of the Trump campaign Bannon.

Still rather amorphous at the moment, it does seem to crystallize around a European-Right style sort of vibe. This is natural, given what seem to be its roots in those movements. An interesting development, to be sure.

You may not like Trump, you may think he's not a conservative, but at least in his career to date he's never written a government check to himself or written a law to benefit his cronies (foreign or domestic). And you know since he has never been a member of the protected political class, if he had ever screwed up, the Establishment would have been all over his dealings. So on his worst day in office, he will still be thousands of times better than Hillary in her best minute in office.

295 Emergency rooms are empty anymore.

--

A good friend of mine is a nurse that works in a SC hospital system. She is up close and personal with the emergency room and financial aspect of it. She told me just the other day that their hospital system is losing money hand over fist because of all the uninsured people (25-30% of all the people coming into Emergency). They can come in, be admitted for something very serious like needing heart bypass surgery, have a lengthy hospital recovery stay and every dime is absorbed by the hospital system. They pay nothing. She said the hospital system caters to them, providing free interpreters, etc. It's going to bury them eventually. It seems Obamacare didn't remove that burden from the Emergency Rooms filled with non-insureds at all. What. A. Surprise.

Nah, Ace's values have always been fairly traditionally Conservative - small government, the same rules applied to all, etc. Opposition to the GOPe has largely sprung from a feeling that they are abandoning those values. Just trying to be an alternative to the group that claims to be "right" but is failing to do so doesn't make you alt-right. The only person trying to push this definition is Hugh Hewitt, who seems to be having a nervous breakdown as he clings to Trump.

The "Alt-Right" has a very different ideology. The name is very misleading - some folks call them "Identitarians," which seems better.

Yes, they vote overwhelmingly democrat, but I don't think that's the whole picture.

Agents of "the press" who are still practicing came up in a garbage educational system. They would not know how to do "the job" even if they wanted to. They are lightweights who don't understand mechanisms for accessing information, how to build a strategy behind a fact-finding campaign, or how to cogently organize thoughts for what little they do dig up. And they were never forced to work hard or suffer setbacks.

Western society's weak state is an implosion of several interconnected systems, not simply the apathy or partisanship of any one institution. The press is culpable, surely, but I increasingly believe it's more unwitting than deliberate. Lightweights.

RE: Stumbling Economy link. Free Beacon has the story wrong. The job displacement numbers sound bad, but are actually an improvement from the previously measured period.

I discovered this by clicking through to the BLS report on which the Free Beacon story is based. It was right there in the first graph of the report.

I take it you don't consider NR's position against Trump as "outrage" and "hysteria"?

The GOP elite is in total panic mode because when Trump wins, they are out of business. Outcasts without a phone number to call or friend to tap for a job.

Once gatekeepers to the inner circle, they will be (figuratively) living under bridges and talking about the old days when people of power would seek their blessing.

We'll be well rid of them.

Chemjeff,
First any "data" on assimilation is a classic case of garbage-in, garbage-out social science. In order to have a quantifiable "study" of something so complex, you have to reduce (to the absurd) your concept of "assimilation" into a few, measurable and therefore quantifiable measures.

The fallacy here is that after you do so, the study authors make grand conclusions about "assimilation" --but in reality the studies you cite basically measure whether the immigrant works, or speaks English, not whether they ascribe to individual liberty or worship socialist strong men, know what the Civil War was, send remittances back to their home country, associate mostly with those from their "home country" etc etc.

And, even looking to the study you cite, I see that "assimilation" (as they reduce, and measure it) was a factor of several times greater than now throughout our history, except perhaps a nadir in about 1990. Then, the authors determine a recent uptick in "assimilation" (defined reductively as English speaking, and working) from 1990 to 2000, but still nowhere near our historical norm levels. This, they attribute, primarily to the replacement of Mexican immigrants with Asian immigrants (which we now see being reversed, with substitution of lost of South Americans, who more resemble the assimilation patterns of Mexicans vs Asians).

But big picture: anyone alive more than thirty years, especially with parents and relatives who go back a bit further than that, can directly attest to an entirely different concept of "becoming an American" that existed throughout the 20th century, as compared to what you see now.

Or, go to Flatbush Avenue on "Caribbean Festival Day" and tell me that this resembles anything like American civilization.

355 First any "data" on assimilation is a classic case of garbage-in,
garbage-out social science. In order to have a quantifiable "study" of
something so complex, you have to reduce (to the absurd) your concept of
"assimilation" into a few, measurable and therefore quantifiable
measures.

Of course, any attempt to measure some phenomenon will have problems with how to measure it properly. This study's authors chose one particular measure. Perhaps it is not the best measure, but it's not true that it is "garbage".

The fallacy here is that after you do so, the study authors make grand
conclusions about "assimilation" --but in reality the studies you cite
basically measure whether the immigrant works, or speaks English, not
whether they ascribe to individual liberty or worship socialist strong
men, know what the Civil War was, send remittances back to their home
country, associate mostly with those from their "home country" etc etc.

Actually, the study DOES say that the children of immigrants have more friends outside of their ethnic circles than their parents do. But to your larger point - there is no requirement that an American can't send remittances to extended family in foreign countries, or that an American has to ascribe to one particular view of individual liberty, or that they can't prefer socialist strongmen.

Incidentally this is another reason why phrases like "America First" are so devoid of meaning. Does this phrase mean the "America" as envisioned by people like Donald Trump? Or by people like Bernie Sanders? After all, they are both Americans.

But big picture: anyone alive more than thirty years, especially with
parents and relatives who go back a bit further than that, can directly
attest to an entirely different concept of "becoming an American" that
existed throughout the 20th century, as compared to what you see now.

So basically you argue that we should throw out a study because it contradicts your personal experience. Perhaps your personal interactions with immigrants is not representative of the immigrant experience as a whole.
