Hillary Clinton: Commercial Travel is Sooo Burdensome to Me; Can I Have the Air Force Take Me From DC to NY and Back?

Newly released emails from Clinton show an exchange on May 9, 2009 between her and aide Huma Abedin trying to figure out travel plans.

“Do you think we could get a plane for Westchester flight back tonight?” Clinton wrote in an email released this week as part of an ongoing Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the State Department.

“It’s going to rain all day and I still don’t feel great so the idea of playing a guessing game w the shuttle is really burdensome to me. What do you think? Could be anytime that works for the Air Force,” she added.

An hour and 40 minutes later, Abedin replied: “Yes of course. Looking into it. Around what time do u think?”

“Six or 7–does that work?” Clinton asked.

And if that isn't enough, click the link: Just last week, Hillary had a plane ferry her from Martha's Vinyard, where she was hanging with the elites, to Nantucket, for a fundraiser.

The two are twenty miles apart from each other. Yes, they're islands, but there's a two and a half hour ferry between them.

Probably only an hour longer than all the hoopla, all told, from a flight (where the take off and landing checklists would take more time than time-in-travel).

But this is burdensome to her; maybe she still was "feeling not too great" as she often seems to feel.

4 But, but, but where would Hillary sit comfortably and privately on an icky ferry?

She's not just going to rub elbows with the common people.
Probably also would risk being seen exhausted/confused/whatever if she had to be sitting in public for over an hour.

---

In principle, I don't disagree, but the justification presented here has nothing to do with efficiency or time saving in official duties. If the conversation had gone as follows it'd be perfectly reasonable:

"Hey Huma, can you get a plane for the trip? I've got the meeting with the ambassador of Luxembourg tonight and I'm worried that the ferry will mean I won't get back in time."

Or whatever. You get the idea.

Clinton then replied: "Why is that so difficult?"

Abedin then replied: "It's the toxic byproducts from your syphilitic discharges and the anti-seizure drug cocktail you are taking. This requires an advanced airborne hazardous materials capability."

Clinton then replied, "Tell those fucking blue-suited cocksuckers to get me a plane, and get it now, or I'll have each and every one of them transferred to a station so far north in Alaska that their dicks will freeze off before they can stick it in each other's asses."

187 Met this guy a few years ago, and he told me an interesting story. Back in the early 2000s he had a job at a local radio station in upstate New York (forget the name of the town). Anyway, one day the station manager comes in and calls everyone together for an announcement. Hillary Clinton was coming to the station later that day for an interview (she was doing her carpetbagger run for the Senate at the time), and the manager had very specific instructions for everyone, based on information provided by her advance people. First off, if at all possible, do not go near her. Hide in the broom closet if you have to, but stay away from her. But if circumstances forced you to come in contact with her, whatever you do, DON'T look her in the eye. She, ah, doesn't like that and would likely get upset...

Before he was Senator Franken, I was on a flight with Al Franken and he was very polite and nice.

Back in the early 90s I was on a flight from LA to San Francisco that got delayed a few hours and in the crowd of super peeved people all of a sudden there was Jay Leno. This was right about the time he was getting very popular. The airline people were trying to hustle him off to the VIP lounge and he had none of it. He stood there and talked to everyone and signed autographs and took pictures and the only influence he exerted was to ask politely that the airline bring over some water since everyone was hot and thirsty.

He was as gracious as a person could be and it was even more impressive because he could have quite easily smiled and waved and headed off for free drinks.

So I ask you - Why?
Posted by: FireHorse at August 24, 2016 03:38 PM (EUDLj)

This is a case where the simplest answer is the most likely. It's a case of putting something through a spell checker quickly and not reading closely to catch tiny little errors that add up to that sense of being not quite professional. Things such as tense shifts or improper apostrophe usage or the like. You know, all the tiny crap that we all type and then don't pick up when proofreading because we know what it says and we aren't truly reading the text on the screen.

Toss in the need to churn out content quickly, season with a huge cutback in copy editing and voila. It's to the point where I presume every article will have something grammatically incorrect therein.

Have you ever traveled on a private jet? It takes no time. I used to work for a Company that purchased a private jet in 2002 and leased a hangar at the airport in Aurora Illinois. Same airport that at that time Denny Hastert Used. Right after 9/11, Deny had 2 FA-18's along with him at all times and they were also based at the tiny Aurora airport. He had the use of an Army Gulfstream G5. Very nice. I can tell you that when I traveled on the company jet, i would let the pilots know what time we were showing up, we would drive up into the hangar (no security whatsoever at that time), hand our keys to our guy ("plane b****") and jump in the plane. within 30 seconds we were airborne if the FA 18's were not taking off (we watched them take off a bunch of times - pure awesomeness - near vertical takeoffs)
