While the Family VIA was dining the Chick-fil-A last night, three of Baltimore Counties finest walk into the restaurant to have dinner.
Mrs VIA gets up, goes over to the manager, and tells the manager that we wish to pay for the Officers meals. The Manager says thank you, but that EVERY Officer always eats there for free, as it is the store owners way of saying thank-you to the Police. Gadabout is on the list of insults.
When I was a kid Gadabout Gaddis was a hero. He was a fisherman with a float plane who made TV shows out of flying into remote places and fishing. Gadabout with him had a sort of larkful, whimsical, I can go anywhere sense. Posted by: Bandersnatch at July 28, 2016 06:19 AM (mgbwf) 12

Posted by: Tim in Illinois. at July 28, 2016 07:00 AM (WVsWD) As far as I know video RAM is treated just like motherboard RAM unless it is being used by the program for video. So if you are using a non-game type program that does not use a lot of video then the excess RAM available would be used as normal memory. Generally video RAM is reserved for display use, not application use. Esp. A vector graphics program.
Special 'video' RAM might be identified as such on dedicated video capture cards or GPUs. However I don't get the impression your trying to figure out how NVIDIA managed to screw up CUDA access to memory. Your likely hitting a wall with the OS and applications eating most of your 8gb a d having 32bit addressing problems. You need more RAM, and likely a better OS. Hillary's ambition, and her gang of crones, and the emasculated younger men who serve them, are taking the democrat party down into oblivion. Bernie, if he were a real leader, would lead his followers into a take over of the party, pushing the old witches over the political cliff or even taking his new progressives and start a new political party. Instead, Bernie does neither, and just shuffles off into retirement to be forgotten and left to the historians and their footnotes. Meanwhile the leadership of the GOP, frightened by the predictions of the witches, watches in disbelief, with much hand wringing, as Birnam Wood marches on the castle led by a vulgarian brute. When talking about 50 old-fashioned insults that should make a comeback, I have one I wrote on the chalkboard in Latin class in high school (before the nun came into the room): 'Mater tua caligas gerit'. "Your mother wears army boots."
I also toss around the following when lefties blame all the evil in the world on GW Bush: 'Fruticis culpam est'. 'It is the fault of the bush' or, in the vernacular, "It's Bush's fault!" Lefties have no sense of humor. Insulting them in Latin is the way to go. Posted by: RickZ at July 28, 2016 07:23 AM (tyvMV) 93

NJ rules for migratory birds
What Do I Need To Hunt Migratory Birds In New Jersey? To hunt crows: a New Jersey hunting license. To hunt woodcock, rail, snipe, coots or moorhens (gallinule): a New Jersey hunting license and Harvest Information Program (HIP) certification. Required to hunt ducks, geese or brant: a New Jersey hunting license, HIP certification, Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp and New Jersey Waterfowl Stamp. Both federal and state stamps are required for waterfowl hunters 16 years of age and older and must be signed in ink across the stamp's face. Federal stamps are available at U.S. post offices and online. State stamps are available from license agents or purchased and printed from the license website. Their crow rules are more relaxed than the federal rules and could probably be challenged by the eco-nazis. Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at July 28, 2016 07:30 AM (mpXpK) 108

Vic, here's Virginia, a HIP number is where the Federal tax gets tagged to your hunting license:
Crow Season: August 20 through March 18 on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. September 3 through March 18 On National Forest Lands and Department lands on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays only. Crows are a federally regulated migratory species; however, no HIP number is required and hunters may use unplugged shotguns to hunt them. Electronic calls may be used on private and public lands. Written permission of the landowner is not required to hunt crows with electronic calls, except when hunting on posted property or on Sundays. Electronic calls may not be attached to or played from a vehicle. Posted by: Jean at July 28, 2016 07:35 AM (ngn8T) 119

Crows are covered by the migratory treaty, but they are not treated as migratory "game" birds. So, there is no federal stamp, and no prohibition on "taking." We used to stop in there back in the late 70's when as young Sailors, we would drive from Charleston to the Lehigh Valley on Friday, and then return on Sunday. And ever since...we stop every chance we get. The family vacation to the Charleston has a mandatory overnight layover at Pedros on the way down. SOB is the reason they invented the word "Tacky". We stop at "Vic's place" on the border to buy fireworks on our way back from visiting friends in Florida each year. So, Vic's right.
It's in January so we are almost always the only souls there. It's like a ghost town. I always think of the deserted boardwalk in "Big." Posted by: bluebell at July 28, 2016 07:58 AM (805dc) 177
I've stopped at SOTB for gas on a couple of occasions. Gas prices in SC are about 15-20 cents less than in NC.
---- It is such an obvious tourist trap that you go in there once just to see it. I have the vague memory of billboards and cigaretts so I always thought they were selling cigaretts because taxes were lower in South Carolina. And then the thing just evolved. It's a little-known fact that in South Carolina, "Yankees going back and forth to FL for vacation" are not covered by the migratory treaty, and no stamp is required.

I still use many of those insults, which probably says something about me and current culture.
Bandersnatch is right. The most recent popular use of gadabout was with Gadabout Gaddis and his fishing show. It was just so cool how he cold fly his plane into these remote locations. Damn, my friends and I loved that show and would stop a game to go inside to watch it. I seem to recall a line of Gadabout Gaddis fishing gear that none of us kids could afford. I always thought the popularity of Gadabout led to Jerry McKiniss' Fishin' Hole show, which was my all-time favorite fishing show. It was simply a pleasant half hour every week, had damn good production values, and I loved his Dachshund. Posted by: JTB at July 28, 2016 08:04 AM (V+03K) 183
More Shrieking, that's what Hillary needs to get the white males. Shrieking like your mother or ex when she was really pissed. That will win them over.

Hillary lost $8 Billion while she was over the State Dept. They just don't know what happened to it.
What a bunch of Malarkey! No, that doesn't express my anger enough. I got lots of words better than that. Posted by: Case, Mors Semper Tyrannis at July 28, 2016 08:08 AM (Z4hTv) 185

The press keeps using Lincolns Gettysburg address as the bench make and Obama can equal it.....Hillary will write her speech today on a train ride to Philadelphia,(steam engine and all) make corrections, and make copies for her prized fans. Historical.

Hot damn! Just found out YouTube has some shows, or at least segments, from Gadabout Gaddis and Jerry Mckinnis. I know what I'll be watching tonight and it won't be the screeching harpy. (Ya know, 'screeching harpy' would be an interesting name for a fly fishing pattern. More food for thought.)

I guess there is some discussion that the owner of SOB exerted influence on the layout of I-95 to bring it right next to SOB, which was already in existence at that time. And if you look at the map, it does look like the road path dips down for no apparent reason other then to get close to SOB.. Several of Mrs VIA's ancestors are buried in the Stewartsville Cemetery in Scotland County N.C. so it's also nice to lay over and visit them when we are there. I didn't see "sissy" on the list. In the dictionary it has 0bama's picture by the word.
