Paper Publishes What Are Alleged to be Jackie's "Catfishing" Emails as "Haven Monahan"

I argued, correctly, that this is not catfishing, but George Glassing.

A stupid world, uncaring of what words mean, has made me an ignored dissenter and an internal exile.

So "catfishing" it shall be. I submit to the dumb temporal authorities.

And if you want to read what are, allegedly, these ridiculously ham-fisted attempts to stoke a boy's interest in Jackie by pretending to be another boy madly in love with her, check them out.

They were funny, in a sad and pathetic sort of way. Like the fact that she thinks her story of being forced to perform oral sex on a bunch of guys is going to make Ryan Duffin hot for her. Or her story of how she's dying of Lupus (and planning to will all her crap to "kids in Honduras") will make little Ryan love her.

Stupid and dishonest and batshit crazy is no way to go thru life.

200 >>I realize I'll get pilloried here, but I kind of feel sorry for her.

Like Mattress Girl, she was basking in the attention she was getting at the campus rape center, from activists, etc.

She was openly demonizing strangers and getting others to join in.

She was used by the university president to shut down all fraternities and sororities, and other university presidents were using it to clamp down on theirs.

She was set up to be used by Obama's DoJ to hoist major campus anti-rape rules on all universities.

Sympathy ends when she inflicted damage on others' lives to feed her drama.

I posted about it last week. I feel like I lost my Horde platinum membership admitting this, but I didn't hate it. *ducks spitballs* Script was not great and I learned later that jokes I liked, like the Irish joke at the beginning, were ad libbed by the actors. Way too much CGI action scenes but I liked the regular ghost CGI. It was a silly summer movie, which is fine. The mistake was trying to turn it into the Greatest Feminist Movie of Our Time You Must Love. Too many evil men jokes, and all antagonists were men or controlled by men. But I enjoyed that govt was part of the problem like in the original. Oh and Thor as a himbo was fun.

Yep. Seriously stupid stuff. Jackie had "Haven" telling Ryan that he ("Haven") was deeply in love with "very special" Jackie, even though "Haven" admitted he'd just met Jackie and didn't really know her. But "Haven" just knew Jackie was the woman for him, even though "Haven" also knew (from reading Jackie's confidential file) that Jackie was dying.

It was like the plot of some idiotic chick flick. "Oh baby, you're just so special that all I can think of is f*cking you on our first date, and then spending the next six months of my life wiping your ass and cleaning up your vomit as you slowly succumb to your terminal illness . . . ."

459 That ScarJo film where she was black tar from outer space or something was strange.

That one really creeped me out. What was the point of it?

"Under the Skin" The Movie

The movie is almost nothing like the book, except in the most general way.

But, it is a great creepy SF story, which makes a lot more sense in book form,

and the story is very cinematic with some great set pieces.

I was really excited when I heard that they were making a movie out of it.

Cuz the movie in my mind was awesome!

Unfortunately, the guy who made the movie threw all of that stuff away, or just had zero budget and made up crap, so...

Mediocre to poor movie with ScarJo bare ta-tas..

so it has that working for it.

463 If the French are going to deny the thugs their sole
five minutes of having their names in the paper as a weapon to deny any
last immortality to the killing. Hey it is a step to marginalizing
them. But if the French are doing it just to go 'la la la la la' then
well the government deserves to get screwed hard. Posted by: Anna Puma at July 27, 2016 05:13 PM (XQrf/)

I am old enough to remember when appearing in the papers was considered shameful. A lady should only appear in the papers (according to Miss Manners) when she is born, marries, or dies. The same for gentlemen, unless they are in politics or sales (semi-shameful by definition). --Another Old Midwesterner

464 Weird.

Pixyware deleted some of my post above.

Eh...still makes enough sense as is.

Basic message:

"Under the Skin" the movie blows

"Under the Skin" the novel is excellent.

Exactly.
I could see either of my sons (at that age) being deceived at least for a little while. And they would not want to be unkind.

466 I imagine Prince Philip has used the term. A lot. They caught Prince Harry saying "Paki" on tape once, I think.

Anyway, look up some of the shit Prince Philip has said over the years. He's a royal Archie Bunker.
