Trump Takes the Lead in Two Post-Convention Polls

CNN:

The bounce is back.

Donald Trump comes out of his convention ahead of Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House, topping her 44% to 39% in a four-way matchup including Gary Johnson (9%) and Jill Stein (3%) and by three points in a two-way head-to-head, 48% to 45%. That latter finding represents a 6-point convention bounce for Trump, which are traditionally measured in two-way matchups.

Morning Consult:

In the national poll, conducted from July 22 through July 24, Donald Trump pulls ahead of Hillary Clinton by 4 points, a sizeable swing from the past week, when the former secretary of State was clinging to a 2-point lead. In a three-candidate scenario including former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian nominee pulls in 10 percent of the vote, and Trump still leads Clinton by 4 points.

It's a popular thing among NeverTrumps to disclaim any responsibility in this election by saying "Trump is doomed anyway." It's a comforting way to evade making any hard choices. I know, because I said it myself four months ago when I said I wasn't going to say anything to help Trump, because he was doomed anyway, and I might as well keep my virtue.

But he could win. I still think he's disfavored to win (though I'm less confident of that now), but this idea that NeverTrumpers are enamored with -- that opposing Trump is an absolutely free choice with no downside consequences whatsoever -- appears to be a bunch of babytalk.

That doesn't mean anyone is obligated to help a man he or she considers unfit for office and a bad person besides. But the various Twitter-generated slogans exist to arrest thought, not spur it.

This is a serious choice and should be considered seriously, not simply by stringing together a series of Twitter argumentative memes that substitute for thought.

105 He could win, if he really hammers Hillary on her corrupt path to her nomination, and the way Sanders was shafted. And on TPP -- that's a big deal for most of the Sanders supporters (the 50% or so that can read, and know what TPP is.) Hillary's VEEP pick voted for TPP.

If he can dissuade, say, 20% of the Bernie Bros from voting at all, or voting third party, that would cost Hillary something like 7% of the total electorate. If he could get maybe 5% to vote Trump, that should be enough for him to win, with a comfortable enough cushion to cover the margin-of-fraud.

Personally, I give him...one chance in 5. Better than nothing.

Posted by: Pastafarian at July 25, 2016 11:56 AM (+EU58)

106 Here is another reason to vote for Trump if you are still on the fence

I just put this in the last thread....

----------------------------------------------------------

If Hillary loses this election it will shatter the Democrat party into two camps, the same way 1968 hobbled the Democrat party at least in presidential elections. From 1968 to 1988 the Dems won once and it was against Ford who was coming off the Nixon scandal.

If you are conservative you have a chance to turn things around for another twenty years, not to mention the Supreme Court. It is also looking good for the GOP to hold the Senate.

----------------------------------------------------------

Add to that..

Think of the political grand strategic situation depending on if she wins or loses. Heck even Neo-Cons should think this over after she makes a mess of foreign intervention to the point where this country really might elect a Ron Paul type character on foreign policy at least (probably will be a prog with a hard isolationist stance).

I mean people obsess over Trump's finger on the button, but have you ever thought about Hillary with a couple of screws loose with the finger on the button. Trump is a property guy, he does not want see his properties get nuked!

Posted by: William Eaton at July 25, 2016 11:56 AM (KhJh8)

107 I'm not a Trump guy (living in Rhode Island, it doesn't particularly matter), but the people actually surprised that this bounce is happening need to get out of the snarky twitter echo chamber and actually meet real life people. Holy cow is this absurd. If these people (including the #NeverTrumpers) don't know a single person who wants Trump or why they do, the problem is with them.

It is not unusual to see two polls with margin of error of say 4 points showing a difference of 10 points...and then you never see any real explanation as to why...

I think realistically, polling can give you an idea of the state of a race but they are very easy to control and there is complexity beyond the pollers ability to control.

For example, if you can people at 11 AM you are going to get retired people, unemployed people, and stay at home moms.

I will not vote for a man who vows to destroy disagreeable media outlets

These "disagreeable media outlets" have lied, covered up and biased their way through elections and daily reporting for the last 50 years at the least. They are not honest in any sense of the word, nor do they provide information for an educated citizen to make sensible choices. They are propagandists. They are no better than Orwell's Ministry of Truth.

AFAIC, Trump is well within his rights to order the immediate arrest and imprisonment of the entire editorial staffs of the MFM outlets. I would not shed a single tear.

So far, none of Trump's gaffes have hurt him in polling. Whether that reflects actual voter attitudes or not, I have no idea. But all variations have been within the margin of error before this one, if you took the polls as an aggregate (that is, ignore outliers and look at an average).

Personally, I still think polls are a pile of waste matter and to be ignored at least until, say, late September. And even then, they're only useful to see trends, not snapshots.

5 points is average, but three things:

1. It's a bouncy average, with a wide range over a short number of runs. For example a zero Romney bounce in 2012 and double digits for Carter in 1980. So the average is sorta junk.

2. The baseline polling company of the average, Gallup, isn't polling the race this year. So, apples to oranges.

3. Uhhh -- I forget what the third one is.

Posted by: SH

The point is, Trump's pick for VP was a REALLY conservative Republican.

The charge I kept hearing was that Trump deep down was super liberal and after getting the nom, he was going to let his freak flag fly. Instead, he chose one of the most conservative Governors in the US.

Now the goal post is being moved to where "once he's President, he'll let the mask fall"

I honestly believe Trump will have a team of trusted conservatives like Newt advising him on SC picks and he will do MUCH better with this than Hillary who will simply appoint Ruth Bader Ginsburg type justices.

This is a serious choice and should be considered seriously, not
simply by stringing together a series of Twitter argumentative memes
that substitute for thought.
It is a serious choice, whether one should cast their vote for one of the major parties, or a third party, or to knowingly abstain from voting. I've never joined Twitter, so I really don't know about all the "Twitter argumentative memes." Trying to reduce thought to 140 characters (or however long it is) is guaranteed to result in truncated thinking, no matter the ultimate conclusion.
Any candidate who gets the nomination of a major party has a chance to win. Even McCain and Romney had a chance to win. Trump does too -- the only question is whether that chance is negligible or serious.
The GOP has struggled on the national stage recently. Democrats frequently point out that the GOP has lost the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 presidential elections. When one way of winning no longer works, its healthy for the system to spawn off an opposition party that can truly be competitive.
That is not to say that the new party's platform would be correct -- the Democrats have been elected for years spouting incorrect nonsense. It would be sad turn (and a mark of us as an unserious nation) if the only viable political options are two parties that hold fast to incorrect nonsense. Sad -- but it may be that is what is happening.

340 After 2012 the mantra was L.I.B. and continued cheering for SMOD to arrive from the heavens. A Clinton vote could expedite this but a Trump vote could possibly bring it about quicker. With Kankles we fully know what to expect, but with Trump we just have a inkling, kindling, and a overall trajectory with no defined point of impact. Officially, I'm going Trump because I'm tired of the Clintons (so voting against someone) but in the dark recesses of my inner working I'm voting for Trump for the potential chaos he brings. If not to the country (hopefully) but to the establishment that helped create him.

It will be worse than that.

In 1968, the Dems still had a huge powerbase in the South; a deep bench of Governors, legislatures, etc, people with nationwide appeal.

They have NOTHING beyond the Presidency now--the Northeast and the West Coast.

The one and only thing holding the Dem party together right now is their ability to still deliver "wins" via the Presidency--take that away and there is no reason for any of the groups to stay.

I have a suspicion that for the most part it isn't the gaffes that hurt a politician - it is when they do the apologize/damage control round after the gaffes that does the damage.

Remember that Obama does this too. He'll say stupid shit, get called on it, and completely ignore the call...

Now yes, Obama has the state media defending him, but I think this will work for just about any politician...

Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

Once again, I can't think of anything that will happen between now and November that will help Hillary but can think of a lot of things that can happen that will hurt her.

And then there's the DNC e-mail coming out of left field.

Expect more.

MSM shilling for Hillary will continue to lose effectiveness. Not all LIVs are stupid. Most are actually uninformed but for MSM. But the hypocrisy of their coverage will become apparent with time, and Trump can shout above it.

Trump has already passed peak negative, so attack ads won't work. His negatives are also of a different quality than Hillary's. Over two-thirds of potential voters think she's untrustworthy. If Hillary makes her convention a big Trump bashing exercise, it'll backfire.

That's actually a really interesting tactical point. There's a sort of gentleman's agreement to let each side have their 4 days, but Hillary's going second, which means Trump can just walk all over that if he cares to and she can't retaliate in kind. Some attorneys like to play nice by not interrupting with frivolous objections during their opponent's closing arguments (even though interrupting repeatedly is the best strategy), but if you gave yours first there's not really any punishment to you for talking all over your opponent's turn as long as you don't look like too much of an a-hole.

Trump's only deeply held value is his narcissism.

When he perceives something as a challenge or a slight, he will be as authoritarian as possible on the matter.

For this reason (and several others), he will always be far more angry with resistance within the GOP, the people who are supposed to bow to him, then from the Democrats.

Otherwise he will show halfhearted interest or return to the lazy left-wing "commonsense" he's heard all his life.

He may put up a halfway decent judge (though not one who will limit executive power, which is what we need), but he is unlike to expend much capital pushing him through.

He will move Heaven and hell to punish Cruz or anyone else he perceives as not bowing low enough, however, riding roughshod over the Constitution to do so.

I wouldn't put it past him to nominate liberal judges just to spite Constitutionalists.

If you like Trump, you believe all the good stuff is his real nature
If you don't like Trump, you believe all the bad stuff is his real nature.

I really can't tell. He seems to be a lot more serious and thoughtful behind his public Reality TV persona, but he's definitely rash and thoughtless in his reactions.

Your posts the past few days about the consequences of being a Never Trumper are insightful and I think very useful to helping persuade Never Trumpers give a second thought to what the true consequences of their decision are. For me the payoff to the conservatives and Constitutionalists will be if Trump actually picks Supreme Court justices that are like Scalia. If he does that, they win because the court will stave off the excesses of progressivisim. If he doesn't (or Mrs. Clinton wins), we are screwed. And if you are worried about Trump taking on excessive authority, don't worry. When Trump gets in the liberals on the court will find limitations on executive authority that even Scalia didn't know existed.

Seriously, read or watch "Clinton Cash".

I couldn't argue that Trump is corruption-free in his business dealings.
However, we're talking about Hillary being orders of magnitude worse than Trump. She and Bill are most certainly the most corrupt American politicians in the history of the country. It's really no contest when you compare Trump attempting to displace a homeowner in NJ vs. Bill and Hill's egregious handling of the Haiti earthquake recovery efforts. The UN put Bill in charge of the funds, he bypassed well-known organizations to give contracts to his cronies who then...sucked all the money and did next to nothing for 1000's of homeless, jobless, needy Haitians.

Posted by: Lizzy at July 25, 2016 12:56 PM (NOIQH)

514 The SCOTUS balance at this point is about whether it will remain about as it is, or become a 2nd Warren court. People today imagine a left-wing court in light of the recent decisions like gay marriage or banning the death penalty for juveniles, but in both of those cases the court was simply mandating policies that had slight majority favor nationally against strong regional opposition. In other cases it was a matter of letting unconstitutional legislation stand, but the legislation had at least actually passed (kind of).

A real activist left-wing court would do the type of things Obama advocated as a law professor, enshrining various positive rights. (You may recall his quote lamenting that the Bill of Rights "says what the government can't do to you, but doesn't say what it must do FOR you.") If you want to see separation of powers really go to hell, see what happens when there's a positive "right to education" or "right to health care" and courts start intervening to tell state legislatures how much money they must spend on certain programs. The Warren court was pulling stuff like that out of thin air all the time, taking actions that were extremely unpopular and enjoyed nowhere near the level of national support that gay marriage did at the time of Obergefell.

Media is full on in the tank for her.

Trump and Pence are doing a townhall here in Roanoke today, and last night it was the lead story on the local 11pm news. Well, not the townhall being the lead story, the townhall was the teaser story, the actual lead story was who was putting together a protest of the townhall, how to contact them, what time the protesters were meeting, where to meet, then a 10 second blurb on the actual townhall.

The Mrs, who is not political at all, looked at me and said "I guess that is what the biased media looks like". This was 4 months after we went to a Rubio rally in March that had about 5K at it on a Sunday night that the local media pretty much ignored preferring to focus on the 25 protesters standing outside.

Unfortunately a fragment of it has infiltrated/disguised itself as a key political ally, thus undermining and thwarting our efforts. It thus becomes a sad necessity to turn or eliminate this compromised entity to be able to fight the larger war effectively.

The democrats HATE him. IF he is elected president do you really believe that either party is going to let him do ANYTHING remotely controversial? IF he is lucky he will get conservative leaning justices on the court. That's it guys. Wall street and every other big entity out there is not going to allow Trump to rain on their parade. A vote for Trump will only slow the burn. That's it. Nothing else. Hillary will be allowed to embezzle tax money, steal the other half of the white house, and take away your rights. How do I know? Look at what she has gotten away with without being president. Think guys.

Again, Putin's goal is to weaken NATO so he can continue his expansionist agenda.

Putin has supported numerous isolationist nationalist parties across Europe, such as France's FN.

Trump wants to weaken NATO. He also praises Putin and worked to remove support for Ukraine from the GOP platform.

As to leverage, much of Trump's business now relies on Russian oligarchs because American banks don't trust him.

"People today imagine a left-wing court in light of the recent decisions like gay marriage or banning the death penalty for juveniles, but in both of those cases the court was simply mandating policies that had slight majority favor nationally against strong regional opposition."

One of the things that makes us Americans and not Europeans has been our commitment to civil liberties, including the right to free speech.

But there's a pernicious movement afoot to read the 14th Amendment right to "liberty" to override things in the Bill of Rights such as the right to free speech. You see, you can't have "liberty" if someone offends you with their speech. This current phase of progressivism is being played out at a college or university near you.

NGU... that argument is about basic economics not Trump in particular. And I am not wrong. The empirical studies that have been done on economic development deals (whether that be building stadiums to attract a sports team or tax credits to attract Toyota) do not create more economic value than the tax dollars going out for them. And that doesn't even get into the perverse incentives that such tax/building deals create.

Localities and states can fairly attract businesses by lowering regulatory burdens and creating a positive business environment. When they do that, everyone wins.

Torquewrench, I have no problem with Hillary starting wars. I have no
problem with Trump starting wars. If they are defending innocent people,
they are righteous and I'm fine with that (now, I might have problems

make either of them warmongers.

Trump, however, wanted the military to kill the family members of ISIS. That's a no go.

Eh, I'm of two minds on that. On the one hand, I don't think much of killing his wife and kids....on the other, I have no problem with mopping up his support network. The way "funerals" for "martyrs" get turned into pep rallies to encourage others suggests that regularly bombing ISIS fighters' funerals would probably be a good idea.

579 It is not cronyism when the government fails to take something from you - which they would do for any producer doing that job. Cronyism is when the government gives only a favored individual or company money; see Solyndra - The Scandal for an example of cronyism.

For fuck's sake. Developers of every stripe constantly negotiate for tax breaks from municipal governments. And municipal governments frequently get into bidding wars to offer tax breaks to businesses seeking to expand or relocate. It's leverage to try to get a large employer to set up shop in their 'hood. What they forgo in property tax, they make up for by increased economic activity. There nothing illegal or immoral about it. Only a Communist would think otherwise.

584 Oh FFS, I go away to lunch and you guys are still arguing with the NeverTrumpers?!?!

Really?

There's no there there.

They never have a bad thing to say about Hillary! except in the most neutral of terms,

and no matter when, they jump right in whenever Trump is mentioned on a thread to piss all over what enthusiasm people can manage for Trump.

What does this tell you?

There are only a few choices at this point:

1) they are Hillary!-turfers, hired to spread bad feeling
(although I'll entertain the suggestion that they're chemjeff socks)

2) they are crazy bananas becuz who in their right mind, waits around all day long just so they can crap all over someone on the internet?

3) Trump banged their Mom one Friday night in Vegas and never called back

4) They are koo-koo bananas Cult of Cruzians (but not really conservatives) becuz somehow in their minds giving Hillary! up to 4 SC judges plus 4-8 years to finish destroying the economy and middle class will be a good thing for Cruz and the Constitution

5) They are Trump Stalkers (weird love/hate thing going on)

6) They are Cruz Stalkers(double reverse weird love/hate thing going on)

7) They are intellectually and emotionally stunted toddlers who are still having a tantrum months later cause their guy didn't win.

That's pretty much it.

None of their arguments work.

Esp. becuz no one can predict the future.

Any Trump victory is going to have to come by overwhelming the Democrat margin of fraud in every state.

So, yes - as Ace says, withholding your vote for Trump is in essence a vote for Hillary!

That's ok. NeverTrumpers are free-agents and can do as they please.

But, we sure as hell don't have to clutter every thread with their preening nonsense. Just ignore them.

This is a good example of the disconnect between many Trump supporters and some of us who do not support him.

You don't need to explain to me the reasons why this happens. I know the reasons why. I get it. I get why the local governments do it and I get why the businesses do it.

590 Its a form of cronyism, but no President is going to solve the problem of municipal governments throwing things at businesses to get them to relocate.

Ultimately, the people we vote for on a local level are going to need to be vetted to not be so easily bribed.

But usually the idea is a small tax break now garners far more revenue later. Most of the states that threw incentives at Japanese car companies to locate in the South are doing pretty well.

I also think this is 1,314 on the list of things we need to fix ASAP.

War crimes
Posted by: ThunderB at July 25, 2016 11:47 AM (zOTsN)

Um, did you miss the GOP debates?
TRUMP said he would make US Troops commit war crimes, in one of the GOP debates.

His 2nd take when told the military wouldn't do that for him?
He said they'd have to, and they wouldn't dare cross him.

It took him 5-6 iterations and a couple days to get to the rational response of NOT endorsing and demanding war crimes and violations of the Geneva conventions.

So saying Trump would use the US Military to commit war crimes is an accurate quote of Trump.
And it is Trump's gut instinct before his advisors spend a few days correcting his personal views.

Posted by: gekkobear at July 25, 2016 01:42 PM (kq7Of)

608 This is all that should matter to anyone who is an actual conservative:

If Hillary wins, she will appoint Scalia's replacement. This replacement is certain to be a leftist, as Democrats only pick left-wing ideologues.

The USSC will then have five leftists, plus one moderate, one semi-conservative, and two conservatives.

As a result of this, it is a near-certainty that the Heller decision will be overturned, soon. The 2nd Amendment will then effectively be dead. And after that, the government will come for your guns.

The only way to prevent this scenario is to prevent Hillary from becoming president. The only other candidate who has a chance to beat Hillary is Trump.

Therefore, the best course of action for a conservative is to hold his/her nose and vote for Trump.

QED.

611 Trump has got 2 problems, one I think he can take care of fairly easily, the other I have no idea what he's doing.

I think he's got plenty of opportunity to attack Hillary in the way she needs to be attacked - this might not take much effort as the e-mails seem to be doing the work for him.

His problem is that instead of basically forgetting Ted Cruz existed, and letting the rest of the party that didn't vote for him in the primaries to naturally gravitate toward him for the general - he continues to attack Cruz and by relation, Cruz's (and anyone else for that matter) voters.

Trump literally has to do nothing, but he's continuing to attack republicans... republicans in the senate that will be his natural allies.. talking about super pacs (of which he'll never cut a check for) to take them out. I have no idea what he's strategy here is. Unless he's trying to throw the election, there is literally no reason to continue that nonsense.

620 Cronyism differs from offering tax incentives for a number of reasons.

1. The tax incentives are available to any and everyone bidding on the job, and that includes you; as you are free to submit a bid on those jobs. You are unlikely to win the bid because you lack the substance necessary to convince the government that your bid is sincere.

2. The tax incentives are a matter of public record - they are official offers.

3. Cronyism is done on the sly and in the dark under the table - and it is a scandal when it comes to light.

For example - what happened to the $1,000,000,000,000 in 'stimulus' money in 2008? Answer: Have you noticed how many Billionaires there are now - who you had never heard of before the Stimulus - who support the Democratic party? Obama made about 100 Billionaires - hundreds of people worth a hundred million, thousands worth a million. Those were all the recipients of his Cronyism.

But the race is not going to be a rout. It is going to be tight, very tight. Tell me how your principles taste after Hillary wins in a squeaker then proceeds to replace Scalia and Ginsburg with two 42-year old lock-step progressives that changes the completion of SCOTUS for the remainder of my lifetime.

623 I have voted in every primary and general election since 1972. I have also spent thousands of hours volunteering in Republican campaigns. I have always voted Republican but I have never reflexively voted for all Republicans on the ballot. A candidate has to earn my vote. I also perform due diligence on the candidates I vote for . Trump lacks the emotional character, the management skills, the moral compass and a minimum commitment to constitutional government to ever receive my vote. Indeed, there is no acceptable outcome among either major party candidate this election.

There is also a lot of magical thinking and frothing at the mouth on both sides of the aisle about the other's corrupt, crony ridden megalomaniacal senior citizen with no demonstrable competence in solving the looming financial crises of a system wallowing in debt. These voters would rather fret and finger point at the other side over secondary issues like the wall and BLM.

626 I think there is a lot of truth to the Ace analysis that much of politics is social signaling, i.e. the fear among educated white people of being associated with icky Kaboom eaters.

An inconvenient truth, I think, is that women are even more sensitive to social stigma than men: for the same reason you see more ugly /successful guys paired with hot wives than the reverse. There is more female DNA tied up with social status than for men, and so, correspondingly, more women feel it is viscerally un-acceptable to be associated with a candidate that diminishes their social status.

George Will of course is excepted. I have this image in mind of his bow tie being made of cartoon rubber so you can cartoon puch him in the face while holding the tie in the other hand, so he makes "boing" sounds each time his head snaps back into your fist.

If Trump pulls us out of NATO, or does not defend a NATO ally which will dissolve the union, the US will lose the ability to command an organization whose members (not including the US) create 20 trillion dollars in GDP per year and have over 5 million active and reserve troops.

What in the world could Hillary do that's worse than that? Allow city governments to decide their own gun control rules? Fine, move out of Chicago and DC. I love Heller, but I'd rather return to pre 2010 gun laws than lose NATO.

Because China has a 12 tril economy and 4 mil troops. They are an existential threat in any war without NATO.

We still need alliances, but NATO has never been a means of adding to the defense of the US as such, but rather a tripwire to make the Russkies think twice about bold maneuvers, and that purpose can no longer be served by the NATO as exists today.

Arm the Poles, the Ukranians and you have every bit of effectiveness that NATO of today can give you, minus pain in the ass Turks of course.

630 @629

Considering how the non US NATO economy is greater than ours and they have more than twice the troops we do, yes I'm pretty confident they would be a big deal. Your 1% is hyperbole.

Posted by: Stone at July 25, 2016 03:19 PM (qRV1m)

631 Also, why was NATO a tripwire?

Because the combined economies and military of NATO would have beaten the USSR in any war, whereas they could hope for victory if squaring off against just the US.

Same exists for China today. Our deterrent against them is much stronger with NATO than without.

632 113 FWIW, Nate Silver of 538 fame has Trump at 57.8% chance of winning. The trend is our friend.

Backwards, actually, but up to 41.3 is a nice change.

633 Stoner,
Pro tip: Chiner is not in Europe.
But I must off to work.

634 Look, here's the bottom line.

We lambaste liberals / progressives / Democrats for ruling, governing, and supporting policies based on their FEELZ. They ARE the emotion based community.

Well, I'm sorry to break it to you raging pussies, but George Will is most assuredly the tantrum throwing poster boy for you #NeverTrump jackasses.

You have a hunch. That's it. He might nominate liberals to SCOTUS. He might be just flat insane. Based on what ? A hunch. You have no evidence. There is no fact based anything. It'ls all "I FEEL LIKE HE'S BAD". What ? WHAT ?

Seriously, continue to pretend you are a "pure conservative" of some such BS. But please, go spend your time with the rest of the emotion based community because that's all that will be left when your "consequence free" campaigning for Hillary reaches it's logical conclusion.

635 Cronyism differs from offering tax incentives for a number of reasons.

1. The tax incentives are available to any and everyone bidding on the job, and that includes you;
as you are free to submit a bid on those jobs. You are unlikely to win
the bid because you lack the substance necessary to convince the
government that your bid is sincere.

2. The tax incentives are a matter of public record - they are official offers.

3. Cronyism is done on the sly and in the dark under the table - and it is a scandal when it comes to light.

For
example - what happened to the $1,000,000,000,000 in 'stimulus' money
in 2008? Answer: Have you noticed how many Billionaires there are now -
who you had never heard of before the Stimulus - who support the
Democratic party? Obama made about 100 Billionaires - hundreds of people
worth a hundred million, thousands worth a million. Those were all the
recipients of his Cronyism.

There is no difference between disparate tax treatment and cronyism. None at all.

636 @633

Actually, Chiner isn't anywhere, as Chiner does not exist.

China is obviously not in Europe.

Posted by: Stone at July 25, 2016 04:20 PM (qRV1m)

637 @634

Trump thinks protectionism is superior to free trade.

Trump thinks the US is stronger militarily without NATO.

Trump does not understand what a Trade Deficit is, as evident by the fact he continually brings it up in his speeches in an incorrect manner.

Trump will not touch entitlements.

Trump thinks putting tariffs on Chinese and Mexican goods will create jobs and grow our economy.

These are all facts, not hunches.

Conservatism has, until the past year, been based on economic conservatism/free trade, National Defense and Social Conservatism/family values.

He undermines the first two values and does not care about the third. Excuse some of us if we don't redefine Conservatism just because Trump was nominated. Excuse us if we still think these values are what the country needs.

Posted by: Stone at July 25, 2016 04:29 PM (qRV1m)

638 I mean, heck.

The pro Trumpers are the ones who are changing their minds about the positions the party should take. Honestly, don't be surprised when some people hold on to the old values because we still think they are the best for the country.

639 On to victory!!

Posted by: Debbie Does Philadelphia at July 25, 2016 04:45 PM (97XyN)

640 @OP: Yeah, but Trump is a Democrat. If Pelosi won the Republican nomination, would you still vote for her? That's the issue for never trump people. Just because some/many people aren't aware of Trump's liberal positions doesn't mean he isn't a hardcore liberal. His many statements on various Republican positions should have made that clear.

641 Here's what's annoying me about this election: The pundits online whose opinions I've been substituting for independent thought are in disagreement with one another. I keep going back and forth, depending upon whose trusted voice I've read most recently. Vote for Trump, because Hillary Clinton means the end of the Republic? Yes! Vote for no one, because no matter how bad Hillary is, he's just an ass-clown not worthy of my vote? Yes! And back and forth and back and forth.

I hate this election.

Posted by: Smallish Bees at July 25, 2016 06:10 PM (yjhOG)

642 Ace, you said Trump was done as recent as the Mex judge faux outrage, it weren't four months ago like you claim

Posted by: Kyle Smith at July 25, 2016 07:29 PM (L282n)

643 What all you so called concerned Patriots want me to do is vote for someone who has sold out to Putin.

Hell No.

Trump is a liar, a fascist and a traitor.

Most of you Trumpsters are probably FSB Trolls anyway.

Posted by: Unsk at July 25, 2016 08:55 PM (Tr/gv)

644 So using a poll without much context from 7/2016 is thought?

Show me a ground game, a new deportment that can win independents, the Bernie bro outcome, a plan for unauthorized voting by illegals. Show me more plausibility to the notion that trump won't be trounced and we can talk. Right now talking about this poll sounds like a cheap substitute for thought in itself.

Nice try. One less donor for you ace. I'm sticking w drew.
