14 By picking Kaine, Hillary's not counting on any bottom-ticket appeal to help push her over the line-- she's putting it all on herself to pull it off.

I'd say she chose poorly.

Cruz later said that he didn't endorse Trump and that leads me to believe his words about voting one's conscience were meant as a dig toward Trump.

C'mon man. He admitted that the speech was all about not endorsing Trump. There was no mention of trying to get in a dig at Hillary.

Or do you think you know better what he meant than he does?

I never noticed any powder residue in shell casings. As for the primer when you deprimed them that pretty much cleaned the hole. The only thing you needed to do with the primer hole was use a deburring tool to remove the lip around it if it was a military surplus round. But you only had to do that once. The lip was there to make sure it was water proof.

151 Hillary and camp must be terrified that one of these seizures will occur during debate. It also offers a rational explanation for her reluctance to hold press conferences.

Would be interesting to know the level of anti-seizure meds (and what type) she is currently taking. Think klonopin, etc. There is no guarantee that a break-thru seizure will not occur at any time, no matter the dosage.

A partial seizure mostly manifests as an aura, the feeling that a seizure is about to occur. They're mostly evident only to the epileptic person, not to someone with whom they're interacting.

This episode looks like a classic complex partial seizure, where there is uncontrollable repetitive movement/jerking.

Very interesting, especially in light of the "fall" she took right before the Benghazi hearing, when she had to wear the Fresnel Prism glasses for a neuro condition/concussion.

This woman may have much greater health problems than we realize.

I thought Cruz did a good job thanking his supporters and showing support for the party. Posted by: Love hertz (transitioning to lower case) at July 23, 2016 09:16 AM (no0Da)

Back when I first started reloading a pound of powder usually ran about $7.00 and large magnum primers were $1.00 for a box of 100. They are running ~35.00 for 1000 at Cabelas now. Powder is running around $33/pound but they do not have the type I used to get at Cabellas. Harnady 38 caliber 158 grain semi-jacketed HP bullets are running $64 for a box of 300.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at July 23, 2016 09:30 AM (mpXpK)

198 As far as reloading being cheaper, it depends on what calibers you load. I shoot a lot of 44 mag and 45 Colt and save 75% to 90% (I cast most of my own bullets for most of my revolvers).

I also don't have to worry about ammo shortages. My biggest fear is running out of primers, so I keep a goodly supply of them. In a pinch, a lot of the older large capacity cases can use black powder, which you could make yourself if supply really dried up (thinking a Hillary election here).

205 Scott Adams said (this and more...)
1. Trump made a credible case that he is the better protector of the LGBTQ community because he takes a harder line against Muslim immigration. Even the fact-checkers will ignore that claim. It's too true to check. And it makes whatever-the-hell Clinton says about protecting LGBTQ citizens look disingenuous.

2. Trump's best unscripted moment came when he humbly acknowledged that he probably didn't deserve the support of evangelicals. That was persuasion genius. Nothing will make religious people love you harder than admitting you are not worthy of their affection. Boom. That's a ten-out-of-ten on the persuasion scale, and you probably thought it was just an unscripted aside. They're locked in now.

3. Trump made multiple references to inclusiveness. But the best, in terms of persuasion, was his twist on Clinton's "I'm with her" slogan. Trump says "I'm with you." That's good idea-judo. He acknowledges the truth of the other side's slogan then makes it look ridiculous.

212 I'd be interested in hearing what Indiana brewery Yuengling is taking over. They used to make Falstaff in Indiana IIRC, don't know of much else. When Yuengling expanded into Ohio a couple years back it really had an impact. A good one.

Certain analysts say the One World Beer Order formerly Miller and Bud will be concentrating on near-beer and nonbeer beverages "going forward" because the so-called craft brewers have them, forgive me, over a barrel.

Their strategy has been shit itself, exhibiting the soft belly megacorps can always be bit in: make fun of them, change your name to America, fake a craft beer as if nobody will notice, and gobble up any that are available. Deserves to fail. God effing forbid that a huge company would actually try to make better beer.

Don't know if it's still true in the day to day operation, but one aspect of Boston Brewing's approach was to use under-utilized small breweries to contract-brew their specialties. Kept the small outfit going, and allowed them expanded capcity without actually laying new bricks. They're so damn lovable.

I'm not crazy about the Yuengling recipe but I respect the hell out of 'em.

233 That is my next foray into the Wonderful World of Guns; getting a reloading setup.

Is it really cheaper?
Posted by: Bitter Clinger and All That at July 23, 2016 08:57 AM (ECJ+C)

Can be, especially for odder cartridges.

After you amortize the cost of the dies and press and powder charger, scales and primer seater . . . and you may want to get other equipment as you go along.

You can get the Lee sets that you beat on with a mallet to set the primer and the bullet, and a set of powder measures for fairly cheap, and you can make your own gauge out of threaded rod, two bars and 8 nuts to make a go / no-go measurer for case and loaded bullet length. I used that when I started loading 45-70 bp.

The press and the dies and the scales makes things much better though, and easier to figure out what you are doing. The more accurate your technique and the more accurate your tools the more you can rely on your results.

It does make things more flexible for you. If you figure a specific charge will work best for your gun, you can easily run up a box of 50 to try on the range.

I have heard of guys having a "range bench" that they clamped to the bumper of their cars, so if they could run up some loads while actually on the range. I am sure that real range safety officers would have a stroke if they knew about that, too.
