Incomprehensible. Stunning. FLOTUS is loathsome, and the first FLOTUS to really earn any serious negative points, from even before she was in the WH. She's mostly dropped the offensive, ignorant, racisty stuff since, but substituted jaw-dropping idiocy ("bring back our girls!") and creepy, un-American authoritarianism (school lunches, nutrition).

Stunning revelation.

Exactly. The politically expedient thing to do would have been to fire her, then run to the media and execute her (metaphorically) by telling all who she was, how horrible she failed her job, and that she was out of the Trump campaign and organization, fired for cause. Then write a lengthy apology letter to Michelle Obama, explaining how her words were so inspiring that the temptation to plagerize them was irresistable to this woman.
Melania would have been delivering the apology herself, at a press conference where she would have been asked fifteen times why she posed semi nude for GQ and did Trump report any payment for the use of his plane by GQ in the shoot to the federal government.

That is what Jeb or Rubio, or whomever RNC darling would have done.

They claimed that Ms. Trump discussed all the things important to her (which would, in many ways, address, in a round about way, the line that "it was her speech") and provided a face (not Ms. Trump) for the actual "speech writing" and apology. Much like the attempt to paint Donald Jr. with the same brush of plagiarism, until the speech writer destroyed them, since he wrote the original article they claimed was plagiarized, this means they are trying hard to palinize the family, but no pregnant girls to vilify.

Yes it is. They are, literally, manufacturing a product: news. It's not news for the sake of being newsworthy and vital, life-sustaining information. It's wholly contrived Pavlovian bullshit to make viewers' eyes and minds blink.

And FOX specifically is becoming one of the worst WRT Trump because they are trying to conceal their disingenuity. They start a segment with, "Well, we don't really want to talk about this but everyone else [the media and actually not everyone else] is, so what do you think about everyone talking about X?" It's a circuitous, too clever by half, method of trying to appear above the fray when, in fact, they are manufacturing the fray with whole spun cloth.

266 I don't buy it. For what ever reason, Trump seems to prefer taking the rap for an incompetent accidentally plagiarizing Michelle Obama by putting it out there that his wife admires Michelle Obama, rather than admit someone screwed him over. That snippet of Obama's speech was inserted deliberately and the rick-roll is the cherry on top. The author of this debacle was trying to prevent Trump from using the "inadvertent" excuse. Kind of like the way the Al-Qaeda made it a practice to conduct multiple terrorist attacks simultaneously for a while: so that its enemies would be forced to admit it wasn't a gas pipe explosion or whatever.

Disclaimer: Of course I realize that sabotaging a speech isn't anything like blowing people up. I am referring to the tactic of trying to force your opponent to admit that they were damaged by their enemy.

Nothing the left or the left wing media say can hurt Trump or his family.

The only thing that causes actual damage is when supposedly right wing writers and pundits, in a desperate attempt to win the respect of their left wing peers, adopt the same narrative as the left.

Only then does the left's narrative gain credibility. It is the primary object of every left wing attack to gain the acceptance of weak minded right wing writers.

We saw this extensively during the Palin Inquisition.

283 266 I don't buy it.

I sort of agree, but it's probably because someone pranking them would show even more incompetence

Are you telling me that a campaign cannot hire or accept a pro bono work from the employee of a private company for their campaign as long as they report it?

It isn't like Trump is trying to hide who this woman is, or that she works for the Trump Organization, which is currently being run by the three offspring.

That would mean that NONE of what a campaign does on a day to day basis can be performed by a private company, whether it be security, transportation, paper supplies, signs, hotels, catering, telecommunications, etc.

345 The media is just a great job of increasing Trump's name recognition from 92% to 99% nationwide, thereby guaranteeing his victory.

What's amazing is that they don't even realize they're doing this.

Trump has been at this game for decades and decades, and he's running circles around these 27-year-old little lefties who control the media narrative.

For all of the '80s and '90s, the NY tabloids splashed Trump-scnadals and Trump-bashing on their front pages on a near daily basis, and Trump just played along with them, egging them on, giving them coy interviews and never quite denying the most salacious rumors. The newspaper thought they were destroying this cardboard villain they had set up, but the more they attacked him, the more famous he got, and the more famous he got, the more fans he got, and the old adage "All publicity is good publicity" was proven true once again.

Now the same thing is happening on the national stage.

Trump is going to surf the wave of anti-Trump media hysteria straight into the White House.

It's as though their all dressed up for a football match - Hillary wearing number 10 and the captain's armband, the goalkeeper putting on his gloves, the media with their banners and songs ready to cheer on their squad ...

... and when they get to the pitch, there are too many lines, and every other stripe is numbered with a multiple of ten; and the goals are yellow and oddly shaped; and their opponents are wearing helmets ...

... and they're all saying to each other, "What is this game? What are the rules? How do we win? CAN we win?"

Then it dawns on them: They could very possibly get killed out there.

I am not sure it would necessarily be a minus for him to speak his mind.

One of the few things I like about Trump is his plain speech. A lot of anger is about the prevarication, vacillation, and hesitancy to speak out on some issues by 'conservative' leadership.

Trump has gotten a long way by simply not playing the game. If he starts, I do not see this as a positive.

Notice the letterhead of the statement: The Trump Organization, which is to say Donald Trump's personal business. And notice how McIver describes herself: As an employee of the Trump Organization, not the campaign. If Trump used corporate resources to write a political speech, that could be illegal.

"On the face of it, this looks like a corporate violation," explained Lawrence Noble, general counsel for the Campaign Legal Center. And that is "a violation of federal law. It can result in civil penalties to the corporation and the campaign." If the campaign used corporate resources "willingly and knowingly," the offense is a criminal one.

Definitely. The media is just incompetent. Right now they know only one thing - protect and promote Hillary. Every single word out of their collective mouths is geared towards that one goal.

The idea that copying 70 words from Michelle's 2100+ word speech is "plagiarism" is flat out retarded. The woman's chief profession is super model. And you're going to make a major issue out of the fact that a speech written for her used 3% of someone else's speech ?

Give me a fucking break. I'm not even sold on the idea that this wasn't intentional for this very reason. They baited the hook and the idiot media absolutely swallowed it hook, line, and sinker and ran with it for 24 hours straight. I do the NY Times daily puzzles and on their sidebar they have 10 recommended stories. Today, 4 of them were about Melania's speech.

Indict Hillary is far more important than a few phases that are similar. If Joe Biden can plagiarize an entire book, and The Won, superior orator of iReg, can copy a speech...well, the next First Lady was just following these heroes. pfft

In reality, I felt that there was a speech-writer or editor that added a few things here and there. Again, pity that the entire speech was ignored for a few phrases. Mooch should be honored that her speech was copied, etc. Which was probably copied from someone else.

Hilarious that they tried to pin this on Donald, Jr and his own speech writer confirmed that he wrote it. I guess people are pecking furiously during the speeches to verify now!!!!11!! bah

Covey listed the exact same principles in the exact same order as Mrs. Obama did as keys to success. He said "There is only one sure means of success. Number one, work hard for what you want in life. Number two, treat your word as your bond and always do what you say you're going to do. And number three, respect everyone and treat them with dignity even if you don't know them or agree with them. And always, always, take the opportunity to pass the values on to the next generation."

Mooch has probably jutted her jaw out so far she enters the room with it before the rest of her. I am sure watching the next first lady made her painted on eyebrows surge into the stratosphere of high dudgeon. Just look at the photo of her sitting next to Carly, former supermodel married to short guy of France. It ain't a pretty sight.

Jealousy, the worm that screws your heart into knots of fury and leaves you with resting beetch face forevermore. Amen.

600 The Clinton WH was a frat house when FAB was out of town. Many women over to swim, drink, and be merry just like JFK when Jackie was out of town. Should we point this out?

After a complete waste of time attempting to reason with people determine to eject reason from their hysterical frenzy to demolish Trump's asset (Melania had star quality, and shocked the media ) ; common sense finally slammed my head and pointed out this coordinated media attack was primarily meant to drown out other messages from registering with the public.

Posted by: Sexypig at July 20, 2016 02:33 PM (UBBWX)

Let's see. I've listened to a couple lengthy interviews she has done with Greta and written ones online.
She has not been on the campaign trail because she wants to be the primary person caring for Barron. Not interested in nanny's etc. She said that when Trump infamously called someone a "pussy" during the early part of the primaries, she called him and told him firmly NEVER to use that word again, that she didn't like it. She has served as chairperson of children's charities , is an active member of the Police Athletic League, ( organization that promotes athletic leagues and activities for at risk youth in NYC), http://www.palnyc.org/, Goodwill Ambassador for the Red Cross, has chaired the Boys Club of NYC(another children's charity for at risk youth) for five years, etc.

Not an abortion organzation membership to be found anywhere, so that immediately eliminates her from the liberal women club.

He set the standard for twits. And some have tried, but you cannot plagiarize a small peenie, Carlos Danger. He would like it noted that he set the standard for dick twits and has been plagiarized by many a frat boy without using his permission. As Bill set the standard for BJ's (of which, young children, everywhere before they had any idea, had to have it explained..you know, what "is" is.

I forgot to add the effing large pot has the effing apricot jam mixture in it. This is going to require a lot of thought and sterile technique and TIME and patience, of which I do not have since this began. Such as, add the warmed up apricot jam to the warm jars that have been sterilized...and now the jam needs to, oh, I don't know, go into another freaking pot. I should just freeze it all in a big blob and to back to life as I know it, not Pioneer daze.

623 Things the liberal media has read with abounding interest:
1. Two paragraphs of Melania's RNC speech.

Things the liberal media has not read:

1. The Iranian Missile Treaty
2. The Affordable Care Act
3. Barack Obama's transcripts from college or law school
4. Transcripts of Hillary's speeches to Wall Street
5. John Kerry's complete military records
6. Barack Obama's Passport and Travel Records to Pakistan from the 1980s.
7. The autopsy for Antonin Scalia
8. The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
9. Al Sharpton's Income Tax returns
10. Bernie Sander's Receipt for $202 million in donations to fight the establishment (which he fraudulently collected and then endorsed Hillary anyway).

Why it is unheard of to suggest such a thing.

The nerve of some people.

Posted by: Gerald J. Haupmund

I get your facetiousness. It's quite normal for parents to want to pass on their values and beliefs to their children, it's just so unusual that it actually works out and the children turn out so great like Melania, Donald Sr. and the Trumplings.

Frank Davis and Barry's mom successfully passed their commie and radical beliefs on to their son, not sure what happened to Mooch.

626 19 Oh the humanity!

My only worry is that Melania finds a person who said white people were "ineradicably racist ", inspirational.

627 What I take away from this is that Trump's speech writer is more honorable than anyone currently serving in our government --- unless of course she is getting a big check to take the blame. But even in that case she is more honorable than Hillary who takes the check while dodging the blame.

Candidates traditionally lay low out of courtesy and let the other party have their convention. I hope Trump say's "Fuk that" and steps all over Hillary's sh!t fest.

Although it might be better to let the Democrats let their freak flag fly and scare the sh!t out of normal people who accidentally tune in.

This is what conservatives always do, they imagine that something might happen, that will never happen. They are divorced from reality. If you think for a minute that the media was ever going to attack Hilary then you're naive.

633 Surfin nails it in comment 545. Melania was using the thoughts and words from the Covey book re highly effective people. Mooch just happened to use the same in 2008. Then the outrage from the MFM about how Melania plagiarized Mooch. Ugh, no. I doubt in speech prep they read back through Mooch's speeches but I can see them prepping by researching a book that defined characteristics of successful people.

Then Trump's aide issues the apology, takes responsibility and offers to resign as well as a wink wink nod nod about how much Melania admires Mooch on Trump Organization stationary.

The MSM was played by Trump. SHLONGED...do you speak it Motherf*ckers?

Trump took down 16 professional politicians, he took down the nevertrumpers and we are witnessing him taking down the media. 'tis a thing of beauty to behold.

Hillary! Is next...

634 How can a speechwriter be responsible?
Melania guaranteed us all she wrote her own speech... didn't she?
Yes. yes she did; but suddenly it wasn't her at all. it was the one-armed man?

I guess taking credit for the work of others and ditching blame to underlings is harder to leave behind than the Democratic Party Voter Label when you switch parties.

But I'm sure her husband will be a fine President and not at all like the democrat he still acts like.
70 year old men are prone to change for the better as they age and learn and grow... right?

Sure he did WWF idiocy and bullshit; but that was when he was a child of 50 and not yet a full grown adult of 70... Or something like that.
