State Department Purged Emails About Secret Scheme To US Taxpayer Funds to Oust Israeli PM Netanyahu, Despite Law Requiring Their Retention
A State Department official deleted emails that included information about a secret campaign to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the country’s last election, according to a Senate investigatory committee that determined the Obama administration transferred tax funds to anti-Netanyahu groups. The Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations disclosed in a massive report on Tuesday that the Obama administration provided U.S. taxpayer dollars to the OneVoice Movement, a liberal group that waged a clandestine campaign to smear and oust Netanyahu from office. OneVoice, which was awarded $465,000 in U.S. grants through 2014, has been under congressional investigation since 2015, when it was first accused of funneling money to partisan political groups looking to unseat Netanyahu. This type of behavior by non-profit groups is prohibited under U.S. tax law. The investigation determined that OneVoice redirected State Department funds to anti-Netanyahu efforts and that U.S. officials subsequently erased emails containing information about the administration’s relationship with the non-profit group.If Trump does get elected, he's going to find himself massively empowered by the various precedents this corrupt administration has set -- flout the law, delete any email you like, investigate yourself and do not even consider hiring an outsider to investigate your wrongdoing. He correctly calculated that in both cases, if he fought, he would lose. Clinton had the true measure of his party: they would back him even if he was guilty. Gore foolishly fought a fight he could not win, and gave up any hope he might of had at coming back in the future.
No angels anywhere to be found. Though the GOP of the '70s had the political integrity to let Nixon know that he must resign as they would not back him in the senate.

If I was in that path would I give them my decoy wallet or would I draw my weapon when the opportunity presented itself? In this case , no one was injured. At another time the gunman could just decide to shoot someone for the hell of it.
If I draw I could be responsible for others getting hurt when they would not have in this case. If I don't, someone may get
shot anyway that I could have prevented. Its a tough call but has to be made now and I'm still thinking.

My answer is because the IRS wants it. There is much angst and woe and arguing about this but my answer is steadfast. The IRS wants it. We have to give it to the IRS. Yes, it's stupid. Yes, it makes no sense. Yes, I agree this is idiotic.
But the IRS wants it and, quite frankly, I am about to start dog level screeching that at people. It doesn't matter what we think, if the IRS wants it, the IRS gets it.
And the whole time this Kafkaesque conversation is happening, all I keep thinking is about how if we don't do this, all hell will break loose. But the IRS can openly do whatever it wants to me for my politics and there's nothing I can do about that and, when caught, there is nothing that will be done to the IRS staff who did it. Oh. Wait. That's not true. They'll get raises and promotions and guaranteed defined benefit pensions.
I'm having a very difficult time coming up with an answer as to why we have to obey the IRS on this that doesn't involve "because I don't want a gun to my head."

They say something, i would trot it right out and slap them across the face with it, right there. And then demand them to tell why they are bringing up this issues after they clearly thought it was a non-issue when done by a D.
You do that every press briefing and you will see that they stop asking those stupid questions.
Same goes for any issue where you hear screams for independent investigation. Simply ask where were those screams when D ran things?

Remember how the Obama administration were loudly talking up federal funding to put a body cam on every cop in the country, in the wake of Ferguson?
It must then have later dawned on them that in the vast majority of alleged police abuse cases, having the cops wired for sound and video proves the allegations to be false, thus closing off opportunities for political street theater and ghetto-lottery winnings. Because the administration later clammed up tight on the whole body-cam funding thing.
I suspect the catalyst for this shift was the black _Django Unchained_ actress in Hollyweird who (via her publicist!) claimed the rayciss cops had given her a hard time for no reason, only to then have LAPD release the body mic recordings from the sergeant in charge that proved she had been lying out her ass from the get-go.

Dodd-Frank and its progeny, Liz Warren's CFPB baby, have killed our small banks with over-regulation. The banks that had nothing to do with the crisis that used to sponsor the local little league team.
Credit default swaps, the financial spawn of Satan, are still around. Dodd-Frank initially said they couldn't be done out of the FDIC-insured bank in a bank holding company structure, but Cromnibus fixed that, so that the USA is clearly on the hook in the next crisis.
The bad subprime mortgages at issue in the crisis were about $500 to $700 billion, IIRC, and weren't entirely worthless. That's a big number but shouldn't have caused the havoc. We needed the miracle of credit default swaps and synthetic CDOs to multiply this exposure 5x to 10x.

As VP it's a bad choice. I do not understand the politics here by Trump if he is actually leaning Newt. A clean break from the old regimes simply cannot happen with a graveyard of skeletons ready to rattle around the White House. Unless that's the goal.

Oh, there was a reason for picking Obama for the law review. It had nothing to do with Obama's intellect or academic record or LSAT scores. HLS was absolutely desperate for someone black.
The law school had just had a huge foofooraw over declining to retain the services of a particular black law instructor, with allegations of "systemic racism" being leveled at the heads of Hahvahd itself. Panic ensued.
If an Obama hadn't perchance been available in that entering class, you can bet your bottom dollar that they would have specifically picked a black candidate who otherwise wouldn't have made the admissions cut, done whatever was necessary to admit that individual, and then plunked them directly into the seat at the head of the law review. There was no other alternative as HLS saw it at the time.

The real travesty here is:
1. The current cadre of deep thinkers really, really, really sucks at keeping a secret. But, given the pass they just gave the past Secretary of State on tossing around secrets, that's not surprising.
2. Cover-up (read: destroying records on their actions in violation of the law). And, they didn't do it out of a need to keep national secrets...secret. They did it because common knowledge of the act would mess with the Jewish vote.
