I think I like his light and shadow better because it is more understated.
One of the thing that always strikes me is that we are viewing a lot of these paintings from the perspective of modern lighting. The incandescent bulb changes a lot of how we view things.
I have heard people complain that a painter's interior scenes are too dark or that the figures look odd. Well, lamps and candles give completely different types of lighting than the modern bulb. It has a tendency to distance you from the people and scenes being painted.
Vermeer looks like he was painting in an extraordinarily well lit house (with natural light.) It gives a kind of reality and accessibility to his work that is amazing.
I love this stuff. One of the reasons that I love seeing color footage of say world war II or WWI is that it lends the air of reality. The "Damn, these people and places were REAL." in a way that just reading about them never can.

.The polls are completely worthless at this point IMO. Plus they are being gamed by some of the pollsters. One early this week sampled Dems at +12, a level they have not had since 2008 with obama and that is not going to happen this time.
Plus we have had pundits and some morons here say Trump was doomed because he couldn't get past 40%. Now we have him over 40% in multiple polls. I wonder if they will change their tunes?

She herself had not changed her last name from her ex-husband's and the question was, why would you name a baby with a name that is not the father's?

Great to see it in a theater full of young vets (son included).
However, there's a whole lot of f-bombs, sexual situations, and of course, zombie killin'.
Ross Patterson directed and had a role that was hilarious.
Lots of insidery mil stuff. Audience howled over a gag about PT belts and challenge coins, oh, and the oblig Air Force dig.
William Shattner, Sean Astin, Marcus Luttrell, and several Medal of Honor recipients were in it. Mat Best is the hilarious lead.
It is NOT for kids (or even teens), and I was probably the only mom in the theater (seated between husband and son), and there were many times I was squirming with embarrassment over some of the scenes (due to being seated next to son).
The film wasn't on the marque, and you have to go on-line to find where it's playing.
Husband contributed $ to the production, so his name is in the long list of donors (one of whom called himself "Don hates Obama").
Anyhow, I think most morons would love it.

It was fun. Husband bought tickets for his vet employees. Son had already seen the premiere, but he and his buddies wanted to see it again.
It's important to see the piece after the credits. It goes into the making of the film, and the backgrounds of the vets.
It gets serious about how many come home, don't have their brothers around, and feel isolated. As one young guy said, "Hardly anyone in this country even knows a vet."
They had extras coming from as far away as Alaska to play zombies. Lots of them are amputees.
And, as one of the vet actors said, "Probably the only ones who will get this film and appreciate it, are vets. So it's our film. If other people don't like it, they can f**k off." Alrighty, then.

Not surprised. Seem to recall reading about how valuable intelligence on radicalized mosques (i.e. most of them) was ordered to be destroyed and the mosque surveillance program shut down under Obama. It's not awful but it doesn't fit her at all. That dress is designed entirely around the fit of it. Fit well and it's flattering. Don't fit well and it's that.

IIRC, when the Brits visited, they gave the Obama's some thoughtful gifts, such as UK designer dresses for the girls. Obama gave Region 1 dvds to the legally blind PM, and they gave the kids swag from the WH gift shop (model SS cars?) - clearly they had not purchased anything in advance.

The only way I'll really believe we can tell what is going to happen from the polls is if ALL of them have say Trump down 8-10 points a few weeks before the election. If it's in that 5 point range it will be a jump ball to the very end.
Also, I'm sure this is overly optimistic, I tend to thing "undecided" voters are Trump voters that are too scared to say to a pollster they support Donald Trump. I expect that group to swing heavily against the status quo of Hillary.

Hmmm. The only scandal I remember was related to the Protocol person in charge of event planning. They canned the existing one and hired a celebrity event planner who then outsourced parties to his own party-planning company - and started spending A LOT on these parties.

There is some significant BS going on with this one. When San Benadino happened, this guy was able to piece together ties back to a Muslim Brotherhood ongoing recruitment operation through mosques. He did the same thing with the Mateen in Orlando. And he was able to do it with public records.
Bottom line is there is an underground effort being funded to build radicalism and support for Sharia within the US web of mosques, and there are people inside the administration that are actively covering it up.

I don't know where Ryan's allegiance lies with regards to guns, but I do think the more talk about "gun control" and Democrats ratcheting up the rhetoric, the better Republicans will do in November.
I don't know if Ryan is that cunning or if he genuinely wants to hand Obama a gun control bill (more likely)

The problem is, Trump never said that.
He basically responded when asked about the pictures released that showed Cruz's Dad hanging out with Lee Harvey Oswald and handing out fliers and how it was troubling they were hanging out.
Cruz's Dad was a big Fidel Castro supporter at the time, so there is a high likelihood they handed out Communist propganda together.
Sort of like Obama and Bill Ayers being buddies.
