Hoo Boy: Special Snowflake Intern Gets Fired After Delivering a Petition to Employer For a Less Strict Dress Code

This is what happens when a university snowflake encounters the corporate world.

Now as foolish as the girl was this is really a failure of her educators and parents. She was only repeating what she had been trained to do and rewarded for all during her snowflake education. She truly did not see that she had no standing to complain and that her narcissistic activism would be disapproved of so strongly. And from her letter in the article it doesn't appear that she has learned very much from the experience either.

But of course young people have always been a bit self-focused and prone to do all the stupid, foolish things that young people are wont to do though the exact menu of which stupid, idiotic things are chosen from varies from generation to generation. So I'm not surprised that there was a person like the letter-writer making a fuss over the dress code the way she did. Usually people like this just get severely embarrassed or let go and all the other newbies have a smirk at their foolishness and also learn a lesson from the example.

But what stands out here to me is that all but one of the interns signed the petition. Which means that all the signers ran the petition-signing scenario through their future-world consequence prediction machine and decided that yes - this will work out great! This common high level of unfounded self-esteem mixed with a complete unfamiliarity with how the real world actually works may be a unique trait of young millennials that is over and beyond all the traditional youthful stupidities. Triumphant Nigel Farage Speaks Before a Contentious, Booing European Parliament

EU chief Jean-Claude Juncker to Nigel Farage: 'Why are you here?'

Farage responds:

"Isn't it funny? When I came here 17 years ago and I said that I wanted to lead a campaign to get Britain out of the European Union, you all laughed at me. Well, I have to say, you're not laughing now, are you?"

"I know that virtually none of you have ever done a proper job in your lives or worked in business or worked in trade or indeed ever created a job. But listen, just listen,"

Greg Gutfeld: Brexit's babies: Why the Leavers won and the losers can't stop crying

How did this lead to Brexit? I have a theory.  Philosophers who are way smarter than me have studied this perplexing priority  -- that despite leading moral lives we tend to care more about a small problem in our vicinity (my roof is leaking), than a larger problem far away (a mudslide kills hundreds).

Even more, research shows that the larger the suffering, the less we react. Meaning our heartstrings will be pulled harder by the photo of one starving child - than many children equally in pain. It's weird but true. We care less when there is more.

What we are seeing with Brexit is a play on this weird reflex.  Because a starlet once lived in London, this compels her to express an oh-so-brave stance against Brexit (even though a week ago she might have thought Brexit was a laxative). Yet, has she said anything about Venezuela, or Syria, or Afghanistan, or the Taliban?  I must have missed it.

My point: it's no longer a comparison between one starving child and many, it's a choice between exercising one's moral superiority in a risk-free environment (let's go on Twitter and call pro-Brexit people racist or dumb) - and calling out real horror (islamists chucking gays off bridges and buildings).

This moral cowardice as expressed by the most well-known of earthlings is what led to Brexit.  Brexit wasn't just evidence of a natural concern over one's well being in the face of rising Islamism amidst the European Union's lax immigration policy, it's also a big middle finger (or two "middle" fingers, if you're British) to those who cannot prioritize injustice, or evil.

Moar Brexit Dumbess: Brexit Proves Baby Boomers Should Get Less of a Vote

The democratic principle of "one person, one vote" is fundamentally flawed. The way Baby Boomers and beyond are voting the world over is evidence that old solutions often aren't adept at tackling new problems. Old people keep gutting the future of young people. And it has to stop.

Oh the sweet sweet generational irony.

The World at War: The Greatest Documentary Ever
"Down this road, on a summer day in 1944, the soldiers came. Nobody lives here now. They stayed only a few hours. When they had gone, the community which had lived for a thousand years was dead. This is Oradour-sur-Glane, in France. The day the soldiers came, the people were gathered together. The men were taken to garages and barns, the women and children were led down this road, and they were driven into this church. Here, they heard the firing as their men were shot. Then, they were killed, too. A few weeks later, many of those who had done the killing were themselves dead, in battle. They never rebuilt Oradour. Its ruins are a memorial. Its martyrdom stands for thousand upon thousand of other martyrdoms in Poland, in Russia, in Burma, in China, in a World at War."

With these words, read by Olivier, The World at War begins. The invocation of Oradour, with its declarative style reminiscent of Hemingway's opening to A Farewell to Arms, is typical of the series' spare approach to language and use of narration to render events, not editorialize on them. Though various directors and scriptwriters helmed the episodes, this spirit prevailed. Excluding interviews, the scripts averaged 1,500 words-only about ten minutes' reading time. The commitment to economy proves effective.

...The presence of Speer and so many other major players-from Lord Avon (Anthony Eden) and General Curtis LeMay to Admiral Karl Dönitz and Japanese diplomat Toshikazu Kase-highlights another of the series' defining strengths: its proximity in time to historical events. The World at War possesses firsthand power no longer attainable.

Peak and the New Science of Expertise

Is 10,000 hours of practice needed for expertise? No, it requires far more than just that.

Not All Practice Makes Perfect

If you're not failing during practice, you're not really practicing.

How To Turn Practicing Into A Habit -- By Scott Bradlee

An interesting post by Scott Bradlee of Postmodern Jukebox talking about how he got to where he is now and the importance of habitual practice.

I've said it before - I was a terrible piano student when I was kid.  I wasn't the best musician in my class, and I didn't start studying music early in life, either.

It's easy to attribute success to having "natural talent," but that's not really the case nine times out of ten.  Not that I don't believe that such a thing exists -  I do, I just think it's a bit overrated. If you want to get good enough at something to stand out from your peers, there are no shortcuts.  Whether it's music, sports, public speaking, you name it.one way or another, you're going to need to spend a lot of time practicing, so you might as well make peace with the idea.

I find that the secret is to make practicing part of your day in such an unconscious way that you hardly have to think about it; it's simply a habit.  Habits get a bad rap; we tend to think of things like biting our nails or smoking when we talk about them.  But really, a habit is defined (according my lazy Google search-based research) as "a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up."  Brushing your teeth is a habit (for most of us).  So is showing up to work on time.  Those are good habits.  Turning practice time into a habit, then, makes it an automatic part of your day and therefore more likely to get done consistently.

...There are 24 hours in each day.  Most of those hours aren't really ours; they get used up by sleep, meals, work, family, etc.  But some of them are wide open.  Try picking up a habit or two, and see where it takes you.

20 Mentioning Postmodern Jukebox. I've got to say that lately their videos just haven't seemed as good. And I really do think its because Robyn Adele Anderson is no longer a big part of it. The song choice seems "meh" and there's a lack of flare. Just put an evening gown on the girl and that's all you need.

Luckily Robyn is doing song on her own youtube channel though not as often. See how she's dressed for a 1940's cover of "No Scrubs"

22 Yeah, I read that link about the intern and her cohorts presenting a petition to their boss about the dress code. What struck me is that this intern was a senior in college and had never had a job. When I was a kid pretty much everyone got some kind of a part time job in high school or at least over summers during college.

Those entry level jobs are where you learn certain truths about the world of work.
1. Nobody gives a crap about your precious feelings.
2. Your employer is not there to please you. You are there to please them.
3. Some of your coworkers are going to be jerks. Too bad.
4. When you screw up no one wants to hear a bunch of excuses.
5. All employees are not treated equally. Life isn't fair.

While UKIP was 3rd preference in the last election and has somewhat broad support, said support isn't concentrated enough to get UKIP members into British Parliament. IIRC, there's only one UKIP MP and Farage himself lost his bid to become an MP last May.

With that being said, I dunno what the future of UKIP is now. I honestly think they should stick around to make sure that Britain does formally leave the EU, but then dissolve, as they would have served their purpose. But who knows? *shrugs*.

64 The democratic principle of "one person, one vote" is fundamentally flawed.
***
Actually, it is, but not in the way this fool thinks.

Somehow the notion of democracy has been perverted into the notion that just because 51% of the populace voted for a candidate, that said candidate can take away my right to bear arms, or the majority of the fruit of my labor, or my right to follow my religion.

This is of course the criticism of democracy by modern monarchists and the like, and there is something to it.

Our founders gave us a republic, not because the act of voting was actually of any ultimate importance, but because it seems to be the form of government best suited to protect our rights.

And yet the corrupted version of that republic was see today believes that a simple vote can deprive a free man of his rights? Soon I fear we will need to remind the government that all of its power comes from the governed and we are governed, not ruled.

One example, I probably have told before, is one guy who was one level above me, answered the phone (landlines only back then) while I was in the office eating lunch. He called to me that it was my babysitter: "your baby's dead." Hilarious. Just knew he was a jerk, his life would not be good, and let him hang himself with his own rope. Then another time he told us, when someone was eating spagettios that they were ring worms in menstrual fluid, another funny one! But at least nobody was wearing unapproved footwear!

Plus the petition basically works on the premise that you have a large group of people signing and thereby "pressuring with their numbers". Not a smart way to approach an employer, even if you are an experienced employee.

Also, for those who didn't go back to the original story, the employee who was allowed to wear non-dress code shoes, had been a soldier who lost her leg, so they made an exemption for her.

The democratic principle of "one person, one vote" is fundamentally flawed.

***

Actually, it is, but not in the way this fool thinks.

Somehow the notion of democracy has been perverted into the notion
that just because 51% of the populace voted for a candidate, that said
candidate can take away my right to bear arms, or the majority of the
fruit of my labor, or my right to follow my religion.

This is of course the criticism of democracy by modern monarchists and the like, and there is something to it.

Our founders gave us a republic, not because the act of voting was
actually of any ultimate importance, but because it seems to be the form
of government best suited to protect our rights.

And yet the corrupted version of that republic was see today
believes that a simple vote can deprive a free man of his rights? Soon I
fear we will need to remind the government that all of its power comes
from the governed and we are governed, not ruled.

Posted by: 18-1 at June 28, 2016 11:47 PM (pibXr)

There's actually a bit of genius behind the Senate/House divide -- and I wish the Founding Fathers had just gone one miniscule step further.....

There should be a House, which is determined by population, due to your basic human rights; there should be a Senate, elected by States, due to the powers and responsibilities of States.....and there should be a third group, the Responsible -- which should be elected by people who pay taxes, whether citizens or not, with one vote for every dollar they pay.

121 Hey everybody.

Okay, I'm gonna get myself in trouble but here goes.

I read the post on the dress code interns/petitioners. YES, the company was *within its rights* to fire them all. YES, companies should have the right to set whatever dress codes they want; if they want men to always dress all in blue and women to always dress all in pink, let new hires know and they can decide if they want to take the job or not. YES, it was none of these interns' business why that particular employee got to break the rules.

Having said that...

I do *not* believe, at ALL, in the adage "management is always right." If management is always right, why are so many companies failing?

Last night we spent a lot of time talking about failing chains such as Sears. Is it customers' fault that no one wants to shop there anymore? Is it the fault of the on-the-floor personnel? No, it's the fault of people at the top who refuse to hear new ideas, who still think the world wide web is a fad, and who don't care enough about the future of their company or their own employees to change anything.

The left fetishizes "petitions" and "organizing" like these foolish interns did, and they're just stupid about it. People have to get used to the idea that yes, life is unfair; get used to it. But I'm also sick of the way the right fetishizes authority and management. They're not always right-- as in correct, either.

I could go on for miles about this subject. Anyway, I've probably got enough people pissed at me for this anyway.

TL;DR: Yes, those interns were wrong and deserved to get fired, but management isn't always right either.

Hey everybody.

Okay, I'm gonna get myself in trouble but here goes.

I read the post on the dress code interns/petitioners. YES, the
company was *within its rights* to fire them all. YES, companies should
have the right to set whatever dress codes they want; if they want men
to always dress all in blue and women to always dress all in pink, let
new hires know and they can decide if they want to take the job or not.
YES, it was none of these interns' business why that particular employee
got to break the rules.

Having said that...

I do *not* believe, at ALL, in the adage "management is always
right." If management is always right, why are so many companies
failing?

Last night we spent a lot of time talking about failing chains such
as Sears. Is it customers' fault that no one wants to shop there
anymore? Is it the fault of the on-the-floor personnel? No, it's the
fault of people at the top who refuse to hear new ideas, who still think
the world wide web is a fad, and who don't care enough about the future
of their company or their own employees to change anything.

The left fetishizes "petitions" and "organizing" like these foolish
interns did, and they're just stupid about it. People have to get used
to the idea that yes, life is unfair; get used to it. But I'm also sick
of the way the right fetishizes authority and management. They're not
always right-- as in correct, either.

I could go on for miles about this subject. Anyway, I've probably got enough people pissed at me for this anyway.

TL;DR: Yes, those interns were wrong and deserved to get fired, but management isn't always right either.

Posted by: qdpsteve at June 29, 2016 12:05 AM (q7T0y)

Except, did they? All you have to go by is the intern's claim that they were fired over this petition. It could have also been a build up of other factors as well and this is just the final straw of "We're sick of dealing with these whiny children, let's fire them because they'll just find something else to complain about when we tell them 'no.'"

And if you read the comments of that thread you'll see someone get all offended when another commenter refers to them as "whiny children."

Here's the prayer we're using near the end of Mass:
Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty
O God our Creator,
from your provident hand we have received
our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
You have called us as your people and given us
the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God,
and your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit,
you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world,
bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel
to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless us
in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.
Give us the strength of mind and heart
to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened;
give us courage in making our voices heard
on behalf of the rights of your Church
and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.

Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,
a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters
gathered in your Church
in this decisive hour in the history of our nation,
so that, with every trial withstood
and every danger overcome
for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,
and all who come after us
this great land will always be "one nation, under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

I have a suspicion that this group of interns was a PITA in other ways as well and that's why management was willing to flush them as a group.

Plus reading between the lines I get the feeling that these were highly sought after internships so the company probably felt that they could easily bring in a fresh group of enthusiastic non-troublemaking interns who they actually might want to hire after graduation.

200 Special Snowflake Intern Gets Fired After Delivering a Petition to Employer For a Less Strict Dress Code

This is what happens when a university snowflake encounters the corporate world.

Thing is, some of the other special snowflakes in her class will become politicians and judges and will come down on that corporation like a ton of bricks and force them to change.

They know soooo much. And most of their kids are brats who will ruin our lives, having never been told "no". But my generation, no maybe my parents' generation, was the culprit. My daughter and SIL say "no, thank you" instead of "no!" Grates on me, but I'm just the grandma whose ideas are archaic and stupid.

208 Yeah, I read that link about the intern and her cohorts presenting a petition to their boss about the dress code. What struck me is that this intern was a senior in college and had never had a job. When I was a kid pretty much everyone got some kind of a part time job in high school or at least over summers during college.

Those entry level jobs are where you learn certain truths about the world of work...
Posted by: nerdygirl at June 28, 2016 11:37 PM

That boggled my mind. Since I was legally able to work at 16 I did. I wanted to go to college. And I worked younger at mowing yards and babysitting.

The deal w/ my middle class folks was that they would pay half, I'd pay half. This prissy bitch never worked a job before and someone paid her way? No wonder the entitled twat got fired.

Her parents did her no favors, but the ones who gave an internship did by firing her whiney azz.

You also have to realize that Congress has been a club that gets together every year and says, "what important laws are we missing?"

Well, y'know, that first year -- there were a whole bunch of really important ones. By the time they got to the tenth year, there were a few problems left to solve. After 50 years, some of the laws they thought were great from the first decade really needed improving.....

We've had over 200 years of these idiots passing shit just to get their names on it or rewarding their current cronies. We've long since gotten past the prospect of laws that would improve the condition of actual citizens. 99-44/100% of new laws are crap.

- believe what I want to believe.
- order me around.
- force me to do things I don't want to do.
- tell me what the "correct" interpretation of law, the Consitution, or America is.

I also like to tell them forcefull what I *get* to do, and that their opinion and/or disapproval is worth less than shit in that regard.

225 I've written dress codes for two major corporations, one a NYSE Fortune 1000 company with over 200 locations, and the other a Top 50 U.S. insurance company.

Very different needs and criteria, but one thing both had in common.

A bit of flexibility where suitable, but not much. The "give an inch and they'll take a mile" thing applies here, in spades.

And, both had a phrase in the introductions to the effect of:

"When you're making clothing choices before you leave your house in the morning, remember. If you have to ask 'would this be okay?', it most likely isn't. If you must err, err on the side of the caution in your work attire choices."

The dress code I wrote in the early '90s didn't have to address tattoos. The one I wrote in 2008, did. Go figure.

The older code is still the basis of their present standards, albeit greatly edited over the years.

The later one remains successfully, in full effect.

Oh, and in both, the jobs were "does not meet public" descriptions. That said, the difference in professional conduct from a decently (slacks, shirt n' tie reqd., but not a suit-coat ensemble), was palpable, as compared to the monthly (not every Friday, just the last Friday of the month), "casual day".

Said casual day still required at least clean jeans with no holes or tears, a collared polo shirt or equivalent.

Tattered jeans and tee shirts were only OK when a major, "deep cleaning" day was called for. Once or twice a year, at most.

Folks were earning a professional paycheck, working with suit n' tie Major Account Reps in the field, and on the phone with prospects and clients ranging from a three man mechanic shop, to other Fortune 1000/500/50 companies.

Needed people to think sharp, act sharp, be sharp. Didn't mind at all, demanding of them to look at least halfway sharp, look like they give a damn, in the process.

Worked out pretty well, too.

They don't seem to teach these things anymore.

I'm gonna go out and contemplate my woefully trod upon lawn.

The company has a dress code, a very strict dress code for a reason. If they are a financial services company, they want to make sure that they are looked at as being professional. Do you want to take financial advice from someone in a suit, or someone in capri pants and sandals?

The second reason is that a company without a strict dress code, has no dress code. My wife works for a large bank, and where she works doesn't have a dress code that is enforced. Shorts? Yes. Tank tops with bellies exposed? Sure. Flip flops? Sure. All against the dress code, but seen every day. Sure she is in a "back office" role, but she says that the company has given an inch, and the employees have taken a mile.

He went and bought a license and hired an Inuit guide as required which made it something like a $30K hunting trip.

Inuit guide sees an all white bear at about 300 yards and says "you can shoot that" and the guy does. Guy shoots the bear and everyone's happy.

Bear turns out to have the wrong proportions and Customs decides there's something fishy and impounds the bear and charges the guy with poaching.

It took years to figure out that it was a rare brown-polar bear hybrid and he'd acted in good faith but he was good and fucked for a long time.

The fact that these stupid fucking interns felt they had the GALL to petition about anything by itself means they weren't worth wasting any more time on.

There are all kinds of innovative and workable ideas for moving forward, but the government always wants to do everything in the biggest and most expensive way possible, which doesn't lend itself to growth and sustainability.

305 Star Trek Beyond Trailer 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzD8H6o1awQ

If this trailer is strong, then it is sandwiched between two weak ones. The first trailer features Beastie Boys Sabotage, which is a god-awful song. The third one features Rhihanna.

Star Trek is not cool or exciting, and should not be. It can be clever, and it can be charming entirely through the good work of the actors. The collusion of people who love Rhihanna and Star Trek is small, and once people get the idea that a tone-deaf attempt to cross-market has been made, it turns people off. The studio executives must know what I learned when I ran 35mm projectors, that you are doing your best when people don't think about you at all.

Quick search on "taxidermy dragon" brought up several dragon heads mounted on plaques, so it's most likely a question of how much you want to spend.

(very late reply, but it can't be said enough...)

They *do*.

This is "secular salvation" on the line. The far- and mid-left are based on the inverted Marxist religion that promises a perfect life on Earth... as long as Everyone Works Together.

If you won't do what they want, in their lizard-brains you are *literally* denying them entrance to Heaven On Earth.

Which is why everything is a life-or-death issue for the left.

The "soft version" of this is what a lot of peons believe, it's just the "every issue is the most important thing in the world" version handed down to them, as a tactic, because "carpet-bombing the conversation" works.

Now there would be a fun troll. Build a layout that represents the just-contracted-for Madera-to-Fresno segment of the "High-Speed Rail" boondoggle, build a couple of model high-speed trains (I'm sure artists' renderings can be found on State websites), and stage a huge, flaming head-on wreck for video. Post it to Youtube, and suggest that this is a preview for a new "California Special" train set from Lionel for the upcoming Christmas market. Bonus points if the tracks have 3 rails.

386 Aspirin a day can get you killed. Ma is fighting myelofibrosis and autoimmune with thalidomide and prednisone. The treatment is known to cause blood clots in the legs. She was so low in platelet counts when starting treatment they said we'll deal with a blood clot if we have to but do not take anything that thins blood. You could bleed out from a minor injury.
Boy this stuff is working. Three months ago she looked dead. Now counts are up high enough that blood and platelet transfusions are not needed.
You should see the hoops you have to jump through to take thalidomide. Reasonable, given the history.

410 Hoo Boy: Special Snowflake Intern Gets Fired After Delivering a Petiition to Employer For a Less Strict Dress Code

When I started in my industry almost 20 years ago, my company had a very strict dress code. We men had to wear jackets and ties. Even "casual Fridays" were not very casual. We had many clients in and out of the office so it dd make sense, but compared to other companies in our industry, it was still a draconian dress code.

About 5 years later things loosened up a lot, as we went to a more "office casual" code. (no more ties!)

About 5 years after that, the senior of our 2 partners retired and the junior partner took over. Turned out the dress code thing was had been the senior partner's obsession all along, and things got very casual. Technology had marched on and we had fewer and fewer clients in the office. The people who need to meet with clients were now doing it via Skype, GoToMeeting etc.

The over the last 4 years there's been another sea change as we went to work-from-home. Technology has reached a point where there's just no reason to go to an office at all anymore. So now, if one wanted to, they could work in the nude. Not that I do, but I could!

So, from strict jacket-n-tie to working at home in sweats or whatever over the course of my employment.

Heh, yep I remember that strip.

Working at home has its advantages (no winter driving!) but it can make you feel rather hermetic. Sometimes I feel like I never leave the house. I don't meet with clients in my position, even on Skype, and when we have company meetings we're not "on camera" but I have discovered that I work better and just feel better if I shower and shave and put on something decent for work even if no one can see me.

416 I would not want to work in the nude. It might be o.k. if I were a Witch instead of a Christian pastor (Witches call being nude at worship services "sky clad") but it would be disconcerting to see a middle aged woman (who looks nothing like a model) conducting communion. ;^)

417 One of the best things about working from home is that now we don't have to rely on local recruiting to find new employees. The whole country is now a pool of potential employees.

We recently needed to find someone to work a new 1-9 shift which is a very difficult shift to fill. We solved it by hiring a woman in Washington State.

Due to the time difference, she's working 10-6 her time which covers our 1-9 needs. Brilliant!

Over half our company now works from other states. I just finished training a young guy from Miami. They flew him up here to NY and I worked with him for 10 days up here. Recent college grad, of Columbian decent (2nd generation.) LEGAL immigrants.

428 I stumbled on this article (linked to by Google News, for some reason), about yet another "free tampons" initiative:

http://knowledgegreen.com/wait-whos-collecting-free-tampons-in-new-haven/

But this one has a twist: It's a program for black boys to collect tampons to give for free to black girls because the girls are all experiencing a horrific "tampon accessibility crisis" and also because "86% of women have been caught in public without a tampon when their periods started."

You think I am making this up, but I am not. Read the article. Real life has far surpassed any ability to satirize it.

Anyway, the article inspired me to leave a comment, but when I posted the comment, I got a message saying that it was "awaiting moderation," and I can guarantee that it will never see the light of day on that site.

Luckily, however, I saved the text, and to ensure that the comment isn't lost forever, I will post it here for posterity:

-----

This tampon project is absolutely stupid, pathetic, tragic, meaningless and ultimately damaging to those involved.

First of all, the entire "crisis" is imaginary, and based on lies and laughable misinterpretations.

It is absolutely untrue that basically ANY female in the United States, much less most of them, does not have "access" to tampons. The whole topic is beyond ridiculous. You can walk into any random 99˘ store in any neighborhood in any city in America and get a box of generic tampons for a dollar. Every corner store has tampons, every chain supermarket has tampons, many public bathrooms have tampon machines, every mini-mart has tampons, and on and on and on. Tampons are probably the most widely available and easily obtained products in the United States aside from maybe candy bars. And in most places they're cheap as hell, and cost less per month than a single Big Gulp or a bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos, which every teenager, even in the poorest neighborhoods, seems to be able to afford.

Second of all, the reason that 86% of women at some point or another got caught in public when their period started is that -- duh -- they weren't expecting to get their periods that day, and didn't bother to bring tampons with them. It was NOT because 86% of women can't afford tampons. The whole justification for this "tampon drive" is false, since the shocking "86%" statistic is being willfully and intentionally misinterpreted.

What's really going on here is two-fold:

Primarily, the goal is to demasculinize black men, to shame them into doing girly things.

One could just as legitimately argue that since most girls can't afford tampons, then most boys also can't afford jock-itch cream and condoms, so let's manipulate the girls into running around and buying and then giving to boys for free a year's supply of jock-itch cream and condoms. Yeah, that sounds dumb, but your tampon project is just as dumb.

Since the girls and the boys are all from the same neighborhood, and thus are on average equally poor (or wealthy), then why is it assumed that the boys have spare money to spend on tampons, while their sisters and girlfriends from the same demographic are all broke? It makes no sense.

The second goal here is to teach black kids that empty, ineffectual "good-will gestures" are a worthwhile form of "virtue signalling" (look it up), and that they should spend their lives not actually doing useful things, but instead engaging in faux-altruistic gestures which they falsely imagine will win them accolades from society at large.

Want to help black youth? Teach them real skills, not how to collect tampons so that white liberals can cluck their approval at how feminist they're being. Teach these kids how to repair cars, how to do basic business accounting, how to program an iPhone app, how to operate a drill-press, how to be polite to customers, how to hammer a nail.

Instead, you're teaching black girls that they're helpless and have to be rescued by boys, and you're teaching black boys to perform in little feminist kabuki dramas for the entertainment of white liberals.

Beyond sickening.

Georgia that the death penalty violated the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments, and constituted cruel and unusual punishment. None of the 5 liberal lawmakers on the bench could agree on why it was "bad". They just did not like the death penalty. Eventually all the States that wanted a death penalty came back with specific crimes that warranted the death penalty and it has been reinstated. The public supports the death penalty.

The pharmacists say, as a proposed accommodation, when a customer asks for one of these drugs, they would be referred to one of more than 30 pharmacies within a five-mile radius that willingly offer these drugs.

IOW, like the targeted gaystapo cases, this was a setup lawsuit to "get" this pharmacy for not bowing down to the liberals. The circuit court had originally ruled for the pharmacy against the WA law that forced pharmacies to issue any drugs and only allowed them to refuse under a very limited set of circumstances. That ruling was overturned by a liberal appellate court and it then went to SCOTUS which is now 4 liberals who do not give a cap about the law or the constitution and 1 idiot who can't make up his mind.

Rolling it back may not be enough. The personal lives of the anti-American progressives have to be disrupted. Like this US attorney in Idaho needs to be fired and disbarred for her threats to citizens. Without examples for future generations there will be more progressive efforts to bring their tyranny into the mainstream.

496 "It is time for those who follow Jesus to drown out hate-filled, fear-mongering rhetoric with the gospel of love. It is time to shout in the streets and from our pulpits that all people are of sacred worth, and any belief to the contrary is irreconcilable with Christian teachings. "

This as many of you know is a quote from one of my colleagues, and this is what I've decided to do:

I'm going to write to her and express my deep disappointment that she thinks so poorly of the laypeople in the churches and her colleagues that she thinks we're all bigots who think not all people are of sacred worth.

Plus, I'll tell her that shouting from the the pulpits and t in the street may negate the idea of love that she is trying to communicate. I rarely feel loved always feel loved by people who are shouting at me..

Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes.

Looks to be yet another miserable day, so here's a little pick-me-up - Robbie Williams and Olly Murs singing "I Wanna Be Like You" from The Jungle Book. About three and a half minutes of joy:

498 'The Constitutions a sacred document, but it is not a suicide pact said Senator Lindsey Graham effeminate poofter of South Carolina and a gun owner. This is not hard for me. Due process is important but at the end of the day we are at war.'

I might have had to edit that a little. For punctuation.

So when I say that my dying grandmother was a typical white person, that's still cool?

Of course not. Republicans in Congress would never stand for it.

501 493 This is a long fight that I don't think we can win.

Posted by: Kreplach at June 29, 2016 07:17 AM (IPLGE)

We never win because there is no opposition Party that is willing to fight the war.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at June 29, 2016 07:28 AM (mpXpK)

502 Also remember the shit storm when Bush fired US Attorneys and the sham hearings the Donks put on over it.

It's going to take a multigenerational effort to weed out the embedded progressive apparatchiks from the government.

They are entrenched in every nook and cranny and quite frankly it can never be done because of Presidential changeover.

We'd have to go back to a pure spiols system to have any effect.

504 And this is probably what I've decided to say based on her Niemioller quote:

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Socialist.

First they came for the Conservatives but I did not speak out because I was not a Conservative

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the clergy who wouldn't officiate at gay weddings in the church because I didn't have any issues with officiating at gay weddings in the church

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak for me."

Then they came for anyone who criticized the government and I did not speak out because I had no problems with the government.

proposed revision:

Then they came for those who would question the government, and I did not speak out because the government is my religion and I would not abide a heretic. I was glad that they were consumed.

507 @501

The problem is not just that we have no opposition party it's quite frankly that the GOP is not really an agenda driven party with principles it wants to advance other than those of its globalist corporate pay masters.

In the last 16 years they have advanced nothing that has a demonstrably positive effect.

I seriously cannot think of a single positive thing that has been accomplished in the last 16 years by Republicans in congress.

509 Question : what to do in case of snake bite.

Answer : Get to a hospital.

That is the modern wilderness survival first aid advice for snake bite.

What would we do without the internet to tell us these things?

Ah yes, but you can't be sued for malpractice or practicing medicine without a license by posting that bit of common sense snake bite control!

511 The only way a new president can get by the Dem/MSM/Edu/Corp blockade is to overwhelm the system. The first day he has to start firing people, rescinding orders, issuing new EO's, and immediately defund the liberal group/gov't unholy alliance. Picking one or two issues allows them to rally to defend those points. Instead, you have to shotgun it and keep blasting. There will be some failures but there will be some successes.

Basically the same comment I posted several days ago. For all the comments from nattering nabobs of the GOP pseudo-conservative elite, I simply ask "What the eff have they done for me lately?" I have yet to hear an answer that is a reference to any actual action that can be viewed as a positive good.

I appreciate that but I'm the one who has to write the letter and deal with any ramifications (if she sends it to others) because the church she serves has some powerful people in it and the person who chose to send out her letter is my boss too.

That is probably the only way it could be accomplished.

Sort of like pulling the bandaid off quickly.

It will also likely result in a massive coordinated counter offensive by the progressive industrial complex and their fifth columnists in the media and the DNC.

I think this would be the equivalent of the reverse Cloward-Piven strategy, maybe call it the Piven-Cloward approach. Basically it requires overwhelming the progressive response system on so many fronts that each response is but a weak squeak, not the carefully crafted aligned journolista coordinated concentrated talking points.

The flaw with this is that the House and Senate can be expected to suddenly find their Constitutional cojones and race each other to see how to control a runaway president. Sadly, I believe that even a GOP majority House and Senate, under the likes of Lyin Ryan's and Turtle McConnell's leadership, would have absolutely no problem with shutting the government down under a Republican Presidency. And of course the progressive press would cheer them on for having evolved while in office!

521 Rule 0:

NEVER bring up other employees to management unless they're making it hard for you to do your job.

You can't control how they're treated. The only thing you can control is how you're treated.

The ONLY way to achieve that control is to do outstanding work for a LONG time.

522 126 - Maybe a logarithmic scale for votes?
$1-$9 taxes paid = 1 vote to the Responsibles
$10-$99=2 votes
$100-$999 = 3 votes
Etc. would slow the influence of Soros-types.
