7.62 x 45 ammo, and the issue stuff was Czech non-corrosive primers that would get old and get much less bangy leading to misfires and duds.
Great rifle, but the ammo sucked. There was a bunch that were redone to 7.62 x 39, but it was a tricky job to get right.

I've always been impressed not only with his eloquence and intelligence, but also his charisma.

If you've ever known people who work for federal or state agencies you won't be surprised by this. This is how bureaucracies work. Some bureaucrat carries out policies by setting up arbitrary numbers (goals) that must be met. If the numbers or goals don't work in reality, too bad. They don't bother to adjust them or be more flexible because these drones are going to keep their jobs, and probably be promoted, regardless.

You do realize the free market has fixes for that...all it's really done is add $10 for the spout kit and $2 for the half-inch spade bit to the price of a gas can.
When you're shopping those used cars, be careful of any PZEVs you run into - the difference between conventional Tier 2 or whatever smog controls and PZEV is largely in the evaporative system - and they can have some terrifyingly expensive fuel system plumbing, seals, fuel pumps, gas tanks. Check parts pricing carefully.

It has templated OS "qubes" that pop up ready and able to do stuff -- and can be suborned and infected with viruses/malware, etc. But when you close the window, no changes are saved. If you open another one, it re-spawns one off the template. You set the level of trust of each respawn based on what you want to do with it -- the templates, themselves are essentially read-only. In addition, all of your hardware is VM'd -- most notably, the internet.

And faulty science, too. Not that faulty science is anything surprising from the gerbil worming alarmists. An electric kettle has its heating element immersed in the water being heated. All the energy consumed goes into the water, and some inevitably escapes into the surrounding air as the water heats the casing of the kettle, and steam is evolved. Those same losses occur with a kettle on a gas or electric range, but in the case of a kettle on a range, some of the heat from the burner or element goes directly into the air, and never warms the kettle. Advantage: electric kettle.

Interestingly enough, some 1.6-liter toilets do a great job, and some are horrible.
We have a Duravit (wall-mounted European thing with a tank up in the wall) in the master bathroom, and between the bowl/trap design and the pressure head of the high-mounted tank I thnk it's plugged twice in the past twelve years.
We have an American Standard pressure-bomb toilet in the hall bathroom that can also flush just about anything, though it sounds like a mortar round hitting the pin when you flush it. That bathroom's due for a remodel soon and I'm trying to figure out how to get one of the in-wall Duravits in there.
We also have a cheap Toto in the third bath, and it plugs at least once a week even though it's the least-used of the three. If I didn't have a list of round tuits about fourteen pages long it'd have been gone by now.

So every new or remodeled home you see has three showerheads in the shower. Not to mention the body sprays.
Our master shower has only one showerhead, but it's a big one, and the restrictor orifice was visited by a 5/16in drill bit before it went in. Works a treat.

Quite famously, Consumer Reports is involved with a couple of these. In something like 1985, they had a bunch of clothes washers rated as "79/100" -- within 5 years, nothing was better than 65.....but did they note that the EPA had changed clothes washer standards?????
And, even more on-point, they did a test of shower heads where one came out clearly superior. They, then, tested it for EPA water-use standards and it failed. Rather than let its paid subscribers know which one to buy, they chose to rat the manufacturer out to the EPA before telling its subscribers -- which kind of "outed" them as to where their loyalties lied.

No, this isn't THAT kind of European toilet. This one has a normal bowl.
There was a plumbing site somewhere that once compared the US and European approach to 1.6-liter toilets - the US mfrs have a bigger water spot, so more water in the bowl which leaves less for the flush. The European toilets (and I think the Aussie Caromas) - keep less water in the bowl which leaves more for the flush.
The guy on the site put it as "The difference between a Euro toilet and a US toilet is the difference between a brush and a plunger."

Out here in California we have the Title 24 energy efficiency code which constrains everything from how big the windows can be to the type of primary lighting in bathrooms and kitchens.
Things are changing a little now with LEDs, etc. but for a very long time after Title 24 went in and mandated that the primary lighting in bathrooms and kitchens be flourescent, building contractors carried around their 'final inspection lights' that'd be hung in the bathroom (especially) for the city inspector, then just as quickly removed.

We were so pleased at the performance of our first American Standard "Cadet" 1.6 gpf that we actually changed-out the other 1955-era standard flush for an identical unit. Unfortunately, a few years later the tank got leaned-on and broke where the bolts go through.....and you can't easily buy 1.6 gpf tanks any more in California [I eventually got one, but everything was, IIRC, 1.28 gpf].
Have I mentioned lately how much I hate living in the "first draft of technocrat utopia" state?

WND and other news outlets have reported on the case involving three juvenile boys, two from Sudan and one from Iraq, who allegedly sexually assaulted a 5-year-old special-needs girl in the laundry room of the Fawnbrook Apartments in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Out here in California we have the Title 24 energy efficiency code
which constrains everything from how big the windows can be to the type
of primary lighting in bathrooms and kitchens.
Things are changing a little now with LEDs, etc. but for a very long
time after Title 24 went in and mandated that the primary lighting in
bathrooms and kitchens be flourescent, building contractors carried
around their 'final inspection lights' that'd be hung in the bathroom
(especially) for the city inspector, then just as quickly removed.

I'm very proud of our Title 24 compliant lighting in our 2004 kitchen remodel. It's high-output fluorescents (think growlights or aquarium lighting) firing up into the high-gloss space between our operable skylights. It makes it look like daylight flooding the kitchen from the skylight well, when used at night.

One thing I do not like is that it uses the same kind of format as does the World at War Documentary on WWII. They take one element of the war and then follow it from the beginning to the end of the war. I find this makes it harder to get a sense of how the different elements fit together.
I am wondering why this style is used, when a more chronological format, I think gives you a better sense of the event as a whole. The only thing I can think is for use in a classroom. If you are using the documentary to teach about some specific component of the war, like say the development of tanks or the Armenian Genocide, this way you can give a compartmentalized overview of the subject in question in a smaller way, whereas something like Ken Burns's Civil War makes it harder to use in a classroom because a subject in question may be spread out over several episodes.

.Here in Kentucky the Governor is in a fight with the AG who is the former Governor's son over the abortion clinic in Lexington. It has operated for years with no license and Bevin ordered it closed until they can get an actual Medical License to do abortions.
The Democrat AG Beshears is suing Bevin and it is going to the Supreme Court soon saying Bevin just wants to ban abortions in Kentucky.

There was a unannounced drill s couple of years ago where a national emergency was simulated. All the children from the Denver public schools were bused to the football stadium. Parents had to pick them up there. Parents were pissed off.
Our military is spread out across the globe. Our homeland is defenseless man power wise.
