13 I have to say though, I heard the interview being discussed here and I wonder if this is trial balloon with a second, unnamed source. I mention this only because in the interview Trump didn't sound all that interested in Cotton (though, honestly, I am totally amateur at reading subtle tea leaf comments from politicians).

There's a former Clinton-era ambassador, Tom Pickering, who is one of those quiet insider guys known to everyone inside of the Beltway and no one at all in the rest of America.

It now turns out that Pickering, who diligently shilled all over the place for the Iran deal, wearing his Wise Elder Statesman hat, was doing so without disclosing that he was simultaneously being paid a shitpile of money by Boeing, who were salivating at the thought of multi-billion-dollar jetliner deals with Tehran.

Oh, and Pickering was also the co-chair of the Benghazi commission of inquiry. The one in which the foxes all concluded that there had been no lapses in security at the henhouse.

A couple of days ago the pundits were touting Tim Kaine as her number one.
I don't know about him specifically, but she might indeed do well to pick up a dullish white guy.

Trump's clumsiness has already got the latinos revved up to vote against him. Obama will help bring out blacks. Does she really need a minority VP when she's running against a super-raaaaaacist?

A white guy would give the ticket an image of middle-of-the-road, same-old 'normalcy.'

166 By itself Brexit is not that big a deal because Britain was never fully in the EU because it kept the pound. Britain will have to negotiate trade deals with EU states over tariffs but in the end it won't be much different. Instead of flying into London from Dublin without showing any papers, you may have to go through an EU passport speed lane. It will have effects on financial services in London. Many of those jobs will move to Frankfurt or Dublin.

The Muslim refugee problem pushed Brexit over the line. That and regulations over tea kettles. Angela Merkel and Germany blew it with Muslim refugee invasion. We may see rumblings about France leaving the EU, but I doubt that happens.

Also remembering here Dr. Jerry Pournelle' description of how, in the very first week after Poppy Bush's inauguration, the great scythe was swung through the White House. And how every single bona fide movement conservative there suddenly disappeared, being replaced by what Pournelle acidly referred to as "the country club set".

Baker, a Bush family consigliere from all the way back to the 1950s.

Reagan went along with the internal Bush push for various hires and promotions from early on in 1981, a push which led to Jim Baker serving under Reagan, and which in many ways was a huge mistake.

Among other things, it led to the Bush-driven ascent of Colin Powell.

290 A couple of days ago the pundits were touting Tim Kaine as her number one.

Posted by: Margarita DeVille at June 24, 2016 03:08 PM (T/5A0)

Ugh, Tim Kaine. He's a known, if bland, quantity today due to some Virginia netroots activists who were looking for a bland backbencher that fit their issues and could disguise that enough to still appeal to the yokels in the coal fields they despised. They set up a website patterned after DKos that took the prog side in VA by storm and helped boost him over an equally bland VA candidate, and it was those guys that took the 'macaque' video of George Allen and fed it directly to the Washington Post.

Kaine loves him some abortion, and pretty much every other progressive cause out there.

293 If Ariel Winter is fat ... then fvck it. I say let all 18 yr old girls be fat.

I am no longer shopping in the Women Less Than Thirty aisle ... but when I was, a chic that looked like Ariel Winter would definitely have had the opportunity to turn me down. Maybe twice.

295 We need Lewandowski for press secretary.

Leslie Stahl: Now that President Trump's racist policies . . .

Lewandowski: [Jumps from podium, rips her arm off, and shoves it down her throat] Next question.

296 Yeah, that sounds like Ben Carson.
Posted by: Jane D'oh at June 24, 2016 03:50 PM (1ZOkK)

After Orlando, Carson made a statement about how we as American's should put the 2nd amendment on the table and discuss with each other why we need it.

Carson is a brilliant neurosurgeon, and he should have just stayed in that arena. He wants to always invoke some kumbaya circle group nonsense about how we all just need to talk to each other.

And yes, I believe Carson made the comment, early on, that maybe cities and urban areas should be able to ban "assault weapons".

That comment was NOT made by Allen West. In the radio interview I linked to up above, West begins by talking about going out and shooting his brand new AR 15, the second of two he owns.....

304 Ariel Winters looks cute but she's a Disney girl so she's probably a roaring slut behind the scenes and a terrible person.

305 Models who get tats are idiots. Your body is your canvass, you are limiting your job options if you tat up. Its about the work, you dimwit. Your 'cute' tattoo of a tongue and an arrow pointing down on your spine won't match every dress a designer wants to put on you.

2nd amendment on the table and discuss with each other why we need it.

If this is what he actually said.... why is it a BAD thing?

We need to point out WHY its the right to keep and bear ARMS... not guns...

and that its to give WE, the people, final say in who our Government is...

Too many of our 'citizens' do not understand this.

Winters got a breast reduction but it was not reduced enough. If she gains any weight, it will go to her breasts which are already too large. As you can tell by that dress, clothes dont fit her.

309 Hillary Campaign: There is no evidence Secretary Clinton ever met with or gave a quid pro quo in return for money given.

The Hill: Missing emails and deliberately obliterated calendar entries document Clinton meetings with hundreds of governments, companies and individuals who paid money to the Clintons in return for government favors.

State Department Spokesperson Secretary Clintons actions are indefensible and it's unfair of you to expect me to try.

310 Julian Castro (and his evil twin) is unaccomplished, to put it nicely. Already in over his head at HUD -- kinda like Henry Cisneros was back in the day. Castro would be a total disaster as VP. Mom was a "community organizer" and her sons followed in her footsteps.

A couple of RINOs whose main qualification to be a heartbeat away from the presidency is that they are minorities with vaginas?

No thanks. One of the principal purposes of the Trump candidacy is to say STFU to political correctness. Choosing a VP on the basis of their gender and membership in an ethnic identity group would defeat that purpose.

"Old white men" founded this nation, one of the most successful and powerful nations in the history of mankind. There is no shame in being an old, white man. And this country has done far better under the leadership of old, white men than under the leadership of half-black men, or "wise latina" women.

Posted by: TrivialPursuer at June 24, 2016 04:56 PM (NnYnv)

312 I keep wondering who would be the best VP for Trump. Has to be comfortable in own skin, not a toady. Able to schmooze with Congress in order to get things done. Younger than Trump but not seen as a threat to the throne. So Christie is out. (ha!) Actually, Christie is out anyway.

Is Jack Ryan available?

315 One, she's 18 and needs to dress for the venue.
Two, that is a really poor color on her. Makes her skin look washed out.
