And no, he's not going to go rogue. It wouldn't do any good since Obama has the power. He could have videotapes of Hillary selling the Grand Canyon to China and it wouldn't matter. The fix is in."

You don't know, nor do I, how this will play out, which is itself an astonishing state of affairs.

Hillary is about to have her cup of coffee with Comey, if she hasn't already.

Pagliano just pled the Fifth 125 times in the Judicial Watch FOIA action, with Huma and Cheryl coming up. Can Huma and Cheryl get through a deposition without pleading the Fifth or perjuring themselves in a way that Comey will know?

After this, I can't see Comey not making a criminal referral. I'd bet it has RICO counts. This should happen soon.

Leaks have been happening until know. If there aren't any about Comey's taking action, Trump will pound on it. More likely, it will leak.

Either way, even without an indictment, everyone will know she's guilty.

69 Judicial Watch showed how it's done with their questioning of Bryan Pagliano. It was clear going in that Pagliano would have been coached by Clintonworld lawyers to take the Fifth. Which he did. Over and over.

Judicial Watch didn't get tired and didn't give up. They doggedly kept on questioning him until he'd asserted the Fifth in response to every one of their inquiries. 125 times, by report.

If Trump can't get valuable mileage out of THAT, he should hang up his hat and resign from the race immediately.

This should also be an object lesson to the likes of Darrell Issa. Issa let Lois Lerner make a lengthy introductory personal statement in which she strongly asserted her innocence while avoiding any factual matters. Then when factual questioning began, Lerner clammed up and started taking the Fifth in response to everything. Issa let himself get rattled and called off the questioning and let Lerner make a swift getaway from the public eye.

A major bonehead move. Keep the lights on, keep the cameras rolling, keep the mics hot, keep the questions coming, force the individual to take the Fifth over and over and over again. Run up the tally to where it's plain as a pikestaff that concealment of criminal activity is going on. The ads just write themselves.

73 Today Hillary tried to claim that the Foundation did a world of good. That dog won't hunt, which is why the Clintons haven't used it before.

She also dismissed Trump's charges with a sigh. That won't work either.

Surrogates have tried to say that the Clinton Cash book doesn't have a smoking gun. But Guccifer 2.0 hacked a 42-page DNC memo about "vulnerabilities" on account of the Foundation:

"The document chronicles hundreds of news reports of Clinton Foundation malfeasance featured under devastating headings created by DNC staffers themselves."

These are what MSM could be writing about, if they wanted to. There are a lot of dots. More than enough dots on the page to draw the cat of Clinton Cash corruption. How can Comey -- and MSM --not draw the cat?

79 So the State Dept. had to disable Security features that protect against Phishing code... so the illegal Clinton server could consistently send email to State Dept. folks.

Those filters are there looking for specific code... meaning the Emails coming from the Clinton server may very well have been carrying virus's... thus infecting the State Dept. computers as well.

Now, we KNOW for a fact that the Clinton server had known attacks... and could very well have had UNKNOWN successful attacks that had already happened.

Thus, the already hacked Clinton server, could have been the vector of attack, against other State Dept. people....

So the questions should paint a road map as to several criminal violations.

Rhetoric. Talking, twisting the meaning of words, flipping the argument from one thing to something else. Misdirection. Misinformation. Redirecting blame, and responsibility, away from himself onto someone else, and heavy on the psychological.

I'm not making any predictions about how Trump will do in the general. He could win by a landslide, lose by a landslide, or anything in between. I have no idea.

Posted by: rickl at June 22, 2016 08:55 PM (sdi6R)

266 Speaking of Ryan, this situation is another test. Perhaps redundant, but still.

Members do not have the right to disrupt proceedings of the chamber. This, originally, was a large part of the reason there is a sergeant-at-arms.

These idiot members with their cretinous anti-constitutional crusade should be arrested and removed by that office, and then sanctions rained down upon them (which the majority can do - the House is a dictatorship, very different than the Senate).

And as part of that justified and proper reaction, the GOP House could take to the microphones to ridicule and obliterate in detail the myths, lies, and alien mindset underlying the "protest".

Kind of the obvious thing to do. But that would fall under "politics" actually involving big issues, in a concrete way. Something the GOP has not done for years.

And yet the extraordinary course of the GOP primary still leaves so many at a loss as to why it might turn out that way.

313 I just have the feeling that Hillary has been at this game too long to lose control in public. I suspect it will be more like Buckley and what's his name (?) One has to read between the lines to hear the threats.

322 Anonasaurus,

They're hiding behind John Lewis for moral authority. I'm glad he stood up for liberty then, but too bad he's sitting down against civil rights now.

And he's not the only one who has some experience in Civil Rights.

Condi Rice: ..."[A]fter the first explosion, Daddy just went outside and sat on the porch with his gun on his lap. He sat there all night looking for white night riders.

Eventually Daddy and the men of the neighborhood formed a watch. They would take shifts at the head of the entrances to our streets. Occasionally they would fire a gun into the air to scare off intruders, but they never actually shot anyone. Because of this experience, I'm a fierce defender of the 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms.

Had my father and his neighbors registered their weapons, Bull Connor surely would have confiscated them or worse. The Constitution speaks of the right to a well-regulated militia. The inspiration for this was the Founding Fathers' fear of the government. They insisted that citizens have the right, if necessary, to resist the authorities themselves. What better example of responsible gun ownership is there than what the men of my neighborhood did in response to the KKK and Bull Connor?"

I believe that the weapons were being sent to the anti-Assad folks in Syria as part of the super clever six dimensional chess that Obama and his Secretary of State thought that they were playing. Of course, most of those anti-Assad folks seem to have joined ISIS and the rest have been bombed into hamburger by Russian jets so from my perspective, their brilliant plan does not seem to have worked out all that well in the real world.

There is also the minor matter of millions of Syrian refugees in Europe and the consequences of that. One consequence that we might see tomorrow will be if the British people vote to leave the EU, immigration of that many Muslims into Europe will almost certainly have been a factor in that decision. If Britain leaves the EU, it may not be the last country to do so.

349 Cruz didn't have a dog's chance from day #1. Linked to evangelicals (kiss of death), unpopular with the GOPe (on whom he would have to rely for money) plus that schnoz (not being shallow here, but Red cartoonists would have thought all of their Christmases had arrived at once), plus lacking in fighting spirit, all mean he was DOA once the MSM got to work on him.I despaired of the GOP field, since I thought that from the get-go, when I didn't think Trump was a serious candidate, so this is not Trump fever talking.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at June 22, 2016 09:00 PM (oKE6c)

I have no idea if he could've flipped the states he would need to, and it would be hard for him to, but his shnoz is less freakish than the head weasel by several orders of magnitude.

Cruz had no trouble raising money, and in fact still has more money on hand than Trump. he raised it all, grinding away at fundraisers and working the phones, both he and his wife--you know, the one who's not as hot as Trumps supermodel #3. I got a personal phone call from her. They both work their butts off.

Trump has hardly raised anything until last week, and I'm not giving him anything because he said he would self fund. He should keep that promise.

Ample evidence of being a racist, race-baiting POS. Whatever he did 40 years ago is irrelevant. That he now seeks to destroy liberty more than cancels out any supposed credit he gets from past actions.

Ryan should arrest/remove these idiots, and rain down sanctions on them by the whole body.

Dumb Beltway GOP objection: but, but, we shouldn't give them any more attention!

Someone with a clue responding: idiot, attention is exactly what a huge part of politics is about. Getting attention for your support for a nationally popular position - individual liberty and freedom to own firearms - is EXACTLY your entire purpose as a politician, unless you're a drone just there to be there (and to cash in).

Likely Outcome: Ryan will do nothing, the stupid stunt will fade away, and the GOP will have yet again succeeded in avoiding engaging in politics.

Continuing conundrum: why the GOP gets such a remarkably low amount of respect and confidence from such a huge segment of its voters.

Obama was causing trouble in Syria before that chemical weapons accusation, and there was a counter accusation that the rebels did it to each other. (which no one really believed, I think)

Oh God damn it, pixy ate it.

So I was asking, WHAT WHAT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK????

We gave guns to "not-Assad" people in order to overthrow him (for
what reason, one wonders?) with the idea that we'd toss those people
aside once we'd used them up and appoint someone else so that -- I mean,
so that what?

Again, I used to know a ton about the Middle East but at some point I
got exhausted keeping up with it and I forget what Assad did that PO'd
Obama (something about a red line as I recall) to the point that we'd
eff up that country all for the purpose of throwing out the only guy who
remained standing in the end.

Posted by: iforgot at June 22, 2016 09:26 PM (5o5ek)"

I don't think that Assad did anything in particular to incur the wrath of Obama. I think that it was more a matter of Hillary Clinton, Samantha Power and all their yes men and sycophants getting all caught up in the Arab Spring enthusiasm where Google and Facebook and social media were bringing about a new age of peace, love and understanding in the Muslim world and after toppling Ghadafi in Libya, they were on a roll.

There is also the fact that Assad is allied with the Mullahs in Iran who have made a theologically iffy but politically practical judgement that the Alawite sect in Syria are really some kind of Shiite Muslims. I think that the Saudis were hoping to replace Assad with some Sunni Muslim group but the Saudis generally operate behind the scenes and they just send money rather than troops or arms.

The red line stuff came later as Assad was fighting to not be deposed and killed like Ghadafi.

At this point you might be thinking, "Golly! That is a really stupid way to conduct foreign policy." Well the architect of that foreign policy is running for President. If she is elected, expect a whole lot more of that sort of thing.

401 Minor factual corrections/observations.

A very small number of the mass migrants to Europe have been Syrians, or refugees of any description. Way back when the UN High Comm. for Refugees guesstimated the Syrian component at around 20%.

Syria has for some time been a very hostile and dangerous proxy for Tehran - an historically unprecedented situation for an Arab regime to tie up with the Persians (and one reason the Assad regime, instantly, had private and official $$$ lining up to support his enemies from Morocco to Oman).

First Obama approach was to appease the vile Syrian regime (a very good ambassador finally quit over this - an unheard of thing any more from our degraded foreign service - but this guy's the real thing). After that, I dunno how Washington morphed into opposition.

We should have been hammering the f**k out of Syria back in 2004-2009, along with their masters in Tehran ...... but that would have been another US that has long since ceased to exist.

Benghazi has been the "outlaw" city in Libya since before Kaddafi/Qhaddafi/Gaddafi/Khadafi's grand-father was born. Always been the most dangerous place in the country. We had a big intel presence there cuz of course we would. The consulate situation on the other hand, esp. in the year prior to 2012, was inexplicable. Brits and others had pulled out it was so bad.

Chief of mission, in the Libya of 2012, in Benghazi, on 9/11, without an army of Blackwater/Xe/whoever protection, with military air support - remains an absolutely inexcusable and indefensible situation. Doesn't matter why he was there - separate question.

We threw in with Soros and backed a coup in Ukraine, then looked the other way when the Ukrainians decided to deploy their army, backed by jihadist and honest-to-God neo-nazi units, to make life miserable in Donbass and most of eastern Ukraine. We have been on the wrong side of every conflict for at least 7 years.

Grandson is coming to live in our burg. The charter schools have a long waiting list. So the public school options are The best public school or the number 2 school that has ROTC and he really wants to get into ROTC.

Any advise?

I would pick school #2 --- unless it has a reputation of being decidedly worse than #1. ROTC is good.
My observation is that "the best" public school in an area may not be the best (from my view) socially. It may simply have a higher proportion of upper-middle-class, spoiled kids.

But that advice is flying blind when I don't know the area!

We're getting a worst-of-all-possible-worlds situation:

(a) A return of the Jimmy Carter "hollow military" with ships that can't sail and planes that can't fly, with endemic shortages of materiel, and training being skimped on to such a degree that it will cost lives in combat;

(b) Social-justice-warriorism being introduced throughout, with the associated disconnections from reality -- while (a) refers to training being skimped on, they're not skimping on transgenderism training, nor Muslim-sensitivity training, or indeed anything having to do with identity politics;

(c) Potential adversaries coming up the military capability curve with frightening speed, especially China;

(d) "Security guarantees" having been handed out all over the world, from Poland to the Phillippines, willy-nilly, with no real grasp of the shortfall between existing capabilities and the capabilities which would be required to plausibly enforce any of these guarantees in a pinch.

I share the 'meh' at the AF, but there were a small group at the local Sam's Club last weekend raising funds to attend drill meets. They looked sharp, as did their Senior Master Sergeant.

I donated $20, and then offered to double it if they would accept a challenge. They accepted. "Tell me about Col. John Boyd, at least 2 reasons why he's important, his nickname, and how he got it. If you can't answer now, you will give a 2 to 3 minute presentation in class that covers those points by next Friday. They didn't, and agreed to the presentation. From the Sr. Master Sergeant's grin, I presume he approved.

But you'd also need said microscope to find a vital US interest in the precise details of the outcome, or the impasse (more likely).

We could waste pixels discussing the impending Russian conquest of the Baltics and annexation of South Ossetia, etc., but I'll pass on these low probability scenarios.

On the other hand 70 years after we did more than our share for mankind in settling the European unpleasantness, turns out there's a substantial grouping, something like 350 million + people, in central/western Europe who might take an interest. And, whattaya know, they even have advanced economies.

Maybe - just maybe - 4 generations into this, it's past time for that group of safe wealthy people to order off the adults' menu, geopolitically speaking.

The first thing is to recognize that winning a plurality of GOP-primary votes is not the same as winning a majority of general-electorate votes.

You need to reel in the GOPe voters, the ones who actually LIKE the Ryan-Kasich type. You need to win independents, most of whom are mushy 'moderates.'

You need the cooperation of the most of the leadership (and big donors) to do this. You need organization. You need ads making Trump look stable and prudent. You need bunnies and flowers and grandchildren. You need to assuage fears.

Conservatives? Most of them will do what they have always done, hold their nose and vote for the lesser evil.

This is true, because when we look at Hillary, we feel the need to make one of those speeches you get in an alien invasion / disaster movie. Damnit, now that I said that, I actually just wrote it in my head.

We did not ask for this, but destiny has called us to it. Here, at the end of the Republic, at the end of our time, we have been given one last chance. Though we must rely on a flawed instrument, it has a power to drive back the forces of darkness in a way that conventional efforts never had. The time has come that we take the fight to them! We will no longer be content to merely hold the line, to fall back because this is not the hill to die on! It is time to look the inevitable in the eye, and tell it that our liberty is not negotiable! We do this not for ourselves, and not for one man, but for all America! For Liberty!

Yeah, I frankly don't see the party unifying until about two years into Hillary's final destruction of the Republic.

What's worse*, I don't see anti-GOPe factions unifying again against the latter for the foreseeable future.....why should Ted Cruz-style conservatives waste the time and effort, if the only alternative is post-conservative Trumpism? This year has taught us that we'll be fucked over just as much by either faction whenever they feel empowered to do so, so why favor one over the other?

Barring some unforeseen revelation, I'll still vote for Trump if he has a remotely realistic chance a week before the election, but I have essentially no hope that either the Democrats or the GOPe will be weakened in the long-term by the events of this year.

*aside from the whole 'final destruction of the Republic' thing.

727 I would table a vote for nationwide concealed carry reciprocity, there's your vote bitches.

Then to really fuck with them, another vote requiring all secondary schools which accept any federal funding a requirement to provide a gun safety course with hands on safety instruction delivered by a certified NRA professional.

Then if I were still pissed; pass a law stating no federal agency or individual drawing compensation from the public coffers may refer to any weapon as an assault rifle or assault weapon unless it meets the following salient features: select fire with moderate rate automatic and/or burst capability, mid-range cartridge greater in power than a .357 but less than 30-06, and OAL greater than 16in.

Obnoxious - eggsackly..... Putin wants the nation he leads to be strong
and prosperous - it's part of his own sense of self-worth. Yes, he
loves Russia and its people, and, yes, he's more than a little corrupt,
but he isn't an enemy at the helm.

Posted by: Messrs Book, Hand, and Wall at June 22, 2016 10:38 PM (RQp34)"

Well in that case Putin probably ought to do something about the cratering demographic numbers other wise Russia will not be able to hold onto Siberia as the Chinese have already ended their one child policy and as their standard of living improves they will be looking for resources.

My personal suggestion would be for Putin to do something about housing for the Russian people. Rather than high rise apartments, Putin ought to have one of his oligarch cronies start making mobile homes and make it possible for people to develop mobile home parks to supply water, sewage and electricity or let people buy their own land and have a well drilled, septic tank installed and either get power hooked up or buy their own generator.

If people have enough room, they will be more inclined to have children. Maybe as Russia becomes more prosperous they can sprawl suburban tract homes around all their cities but for the near term, making it possible for the ordinary Russian working stiff to have a place to live with just his wife and kids will improve people's lives, reduce the strain on marriages and produce the next generation who can take advantage of the resources and opportunities east of the Urals.
