artwork-by-Yoko-Ono.jpg

Google "Yoko Ono," and you will retrieve about 3,320,000 results.

That's not a threat...that's a promise.

This is just a taste.

This society is driven by neurotic speed and force accelerated by greed and frustration of not being able to live up to the image of men and woman we have created for ourselves; the image has nothing to do with the reality of people.

Philosophical question - seems rhetorical, but it's not:

Why are questions like this never asked?

What type of government would spend itself into a $200 trillion dollar hole?

One that is too small, or one that is too large?

Is government trying to do too many things, or too few?

Are there other possibilities? (of course there are, but are they significant?)

If we asked questions like this we would know whether or not to scrap our entire government, by how they would answer.

For example: We already know what the answer would be if our government were pressured to find a solution to the $200 trillion dollar hole. They would tell us that they would be creating a new department or agency (another level of bureaucracy) that would be specifically tasked to solve the problem.

If we asked ourselves, whether the government is too large already to solve the problem, we would, one would hope, know that the government's response is bullshit.

But that's always their answer, and it is the only answer they can possibly have to any problem because government is already too large to manage.

Apparently she bought a farm in the area. It's a very conservative part of NY state but she seems respected because she has donated generously to the town fire department.

But she along with the other NY city people who come on the weekends, are all against fracking. The people who are for fracking are the people who were born and raised in this area. Interesting dichotomy don't you think?

106 This kind of goes with my last comment (and I apologize for boring yáll (but I'm not sorry enough to stop))...

Capitalism is a pretty efficient system and it's not hard to prove it with a simple example (somebody smarter than me used this years ago - I'm sorry I don't remember who).

The example is this:

Make a sandwich. Do everything that is necessary to make the sandwich yourself. Grow the wheat. Mill the wheat. Raise the chicken (and all of the intricacies involved with that task), create the condiments, make all of the required utensils and tools you need yourself, make the appliances, create the infrastructure - transportation, storage, etc. etc.

You see where this is going. I would take you years, and millions of dollars to make your sandwich.

Capitalism makes this possible.

Our system, I submit, in way far away from capitalism now, and moving further every day.

Central planning - regulations, planning, interference, penalties for non-compliance - all conspire to make inefficient a system that works damned well without the interference.

But the problem is, with capitalism, the people who make the system more efficient and who come up with ways to exploit the efficiency of the system win - and people who don't, win less. And that's simply not fair.

Right?

Just mentioning Yoko raises my blood pressure 10 points.

But no, that Japanese kami stuck her ugly nose in and blew up a delicate situation. (john's ego and McCartney's ego)

It might not be so bad and at least understandable if she was really really hot. But she's not. In fact more not hot than hot.

Then he spent about 5 minutes talking about how racist UKIP was.

The only thing he didn't do was say how many British people wanted to leave. Funny, how he didn't bother to consider the idea that people should be allowed to make their own choices.

And speaking of Brexit...

How does one suppose, will this push toward globalization work?

With all of the dispirit groups and nationalities, having little or nothing in common, possessing not common allegiances or loyalties...

Is it possible that this type of construct could ever possibly function without coercion? How will that coercion take place?

Might, for example, it not be useful to have a (for lack of a better term) a coercion brute squad, or a number of squads, from different areas than where they would be employed, to be able to be deployed to coerce those, with whom they have no love lost at all, into doing what they are encouraged to do?

When Roman soldiers were required to be Roman citizens, Roman legions were restricted from even entering the city of Rome. After the rules were changed to allow non-Romans to be citizens, Roman legions repeated entered Rome to impose their will on the government until the government was nothing more than a formality.

Curious that our government, in it's wisdom, just made it legal for illegals to enter this country and join our armed forces. They could do it before, no doubt, but under fairly well defined circumstances. Those circumstances no longer exist.

Just an observation.

And I'll stop now with my BS philosophizing.

176 Saw the story this morning on the assault that happened last weekend to Mike Wallace,Nascar driver, and his wife, and family, at a Rascal Flatt's concert.

Apparently, these three hoodlums and some others attacked Wallace as he was heading to his car, knocking him unconscious and then continuing to kick him. His daughter jumped between them trying to stop the attack, and she was then beaten, kicked, etc.
I don't know exactly how it was stopped, but the attackers ran off, but three were finally caught. I guess they have done this before at events , for jollies.

Wallace, who was recovering from double bypass surgery when this attack occurred, had a concussion, a black eye, has lost a front tooth, and has severe floaters in his right eye as his eye was punched hard enough that it had fluid behind it burst. His daughter has bruised ribs, arms, scrapes, etc. and his son in law and another male family member had bloody noses, etc.

It sounds like this was a rivival of the old "knock out " game.

177 Doomed:

There is a much-beloved commenter here named "Willow" who always seems to post right at the end of every thread. So much so that whenever she posts everyone just goes and looks for a new thread. Hence the term "willowed", for when a person posts at the end of the thread when a new one has just been put up.
