Of course I should remind you of the scene in Godfather 2 when Michael Corleone settled all family business as he was leaving New York, and I have been informed that Hillary would like all family business settled before the President leaves office. while California's volunteers will pay for gas as they normally would since the state hasn't established a per-mile rate.

If you aren't going to cut the gas tax, why do you need volunteers? Just tabletop the miles driven vs what you would tax them 1.5 cents/mile.

Here's the thing. This'll be a stealth tax. The gas tax will never go away. This 1.5 cents a mile will automagically appear.

27 15 Is the reason "Refugees are at an all time high" because left-wing Governments (like ours) have decided to reclassify illegal immigrants as "refugees?"
_________________

Yes, this scam started several years ago in the U.S. The Obama administration wanted more illegal aliens on welfare, so they started instructing their "community organizing" groups (like LaRaza) to tell illegals that they could get green cards and money if they are classified as "refugees."

That's why the illegal aliens all started claiming that they're "fearful of gang violence" (even though gang violence was actually decreasing in many of their home countries). Being "fearful of gang violence" is one of the grounds for claiming "refugee" status -- which, once given, gets the illegal alien access to a whole panoply of federal welfare benefits.

Which makes the machinations of the CA state Dems even more evil, I think.

I think it was all a head fake. Everyone knew what words had been edited out.

We focused on that, they filled in the blanks and said "see we came clean."

Except, no they didn't. We already know it is inaccurate.

Now, what did he really say on the 911 calls? We'll never know.

42 "How do we know that the new unredacted transcript is accurate? They edited Allah to God so we know it isn't. How do we know this is even close?"

We saw the beginnings of this when the media altered the 9-11 calls by George Zimmerman to imply that the reason he found St. Traytable to be suspicious was because of his skin color.

At this point, I would suspect that any good Defense Attorney would be able to challenge any Federal Government provided transcripts as possibly tainted, and altered.

I just don't think that Britain voting on Brexit and the way this election in this country, and events surrounding it are shaping up is a coincidence. At least no more than all of the Axis powers coming together in the last century was.

Again opinion, but it seems to me that, in Britain, the choice isn't just about democracy and whether people think it is necessary that, in this point in history, they are able to select their leaders, but it is also, I think, a choice to repudiate capitalism, or not.

In this country, (opinion, remember) things are more complicated than they seem, as well.

Trump won the primary, following a process that has been in place for at least a generation, but a large portion of the electorate now want to change that process. That the gun debate concerning the one right that explicitly declares that shall not be infringed, has reached a lively boil right now seems practically impossible to be a coincidence also.

In this country, we appear to be offered a choice to decide whether the voice of the people AND the rights supposedly a birthright, are going to be important from here forward.

Having criminal Hillary in the mix just puts an exclamation point on the starkness of the decisions facing us.

Misdirection. You see, the MFM / Dem narrative, even before the bodies were cold, was "gun violence!" And yes, there was the unfortunate fact that the gunman had an Arabic name; however, by replacing "Allah" with "God," Justice plants the seed in the minds of the low-fo mofos that the shooter had some connection with Christians and right-wingers, since they, presumably, are the ones killing in the name of "God."

DoJ can't deny Mateen's name. They can disguise his father's terrorist connections, though, and can do their best to muddy the waters by using the word "God," which stands as a synecdoche for "teabaggers."

56 Re: the bride's dad, from odmp.org:

Deputy Kent Mundell was killed while responding to a domestic violence call in Eatonville.

Deputy Mundell and his sergeant had responded to a house where a man was fighting with his daughter and brother. The deputies had convinced the intoxicated man to leave the house when he produced a previously concealed gun and fired ten rounds at the officers.

Despite being wounded, Deputy Mundell returned fire and killed the subject. The suspect's brother and daughter put themselves at risk to pull the wounded sergeant out of the line of fire by pulling him into another room. Deputy Mundell was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he remained on life support in the intensive care unit until succumbing to his wounds seven days later.

--------------------------------------------------

MPPP, love that word "synecdoche". Had to look it up and thanks for throwing it down!

So, prevailing opinion seems to be that TFG wants this to be "domestic extremism", and the Ministry is therefore trying to eliminate all signs of the "other" here. They want Americans to see this terrorist as another American gone nuts, and feed the narrative that we need to prevent "religious extremists", ie, Christains, especially the Amish and Lutherans, Jews and those other guys, uhh...oh yeah, Moslems, from shooting up dance clubs with their filthy un-American guns.

So "Allah" becomes "God" and if they could have gotten away with changing his name to "Joe" they would have done that too.

69 I'm not sure what the Administration's game is here. I mean, I live in Northern VA. I have a lot of lefty acquaintances (note, not "friends,") and we talk fairly often about such things.

The prevailing opinion amongst them seems to be that Mateen was a religious fundie who was lashing out and was able to get his hands on the hardware to do so. None of them are denying that this was motivated by a fundamental religious viewpoint.

So again, I'm not sure why the Administration is trying to gaslight them. Certainly that group of acquaintances are not all that keen on private gun ownership, but they've never bothered with needing an excuse to push for outright confiscation.

100
Good morning, Horde.

I wanted to drop in and say thank you again for everyone's thoughts and prayers over the past few weeks as my family has dealt with the death of my Dad. You are all appreciated more than I can ever express.

We interred his ashes yesterday at 1 pm at the Vancouver Barracks Military Cemetery. The Retired Officer's Association of the US provided an Air Force Honor Guard which gave a traditional three volley salute, Taps was played, and Mom received a folded American Flag presented very formally by the commander of the Honor Guard.

My Brother and I conspired to have my folks' wedding picture (in which their 23-year-old selves are so gorgeous they look like immortal movie stars) printed on a 16" x 20" unframed canvas that she'll be able to hang over the piano in her sitting room. Mom absolutely loves it.

My Sister was, typically, an imbecile, but she brought my 9-month-old Great Niece, Scarlett the Starlet (as we call her) along, so all was forgiven.

I eulogized Dad by reading his obituary at the grave-site, interspersing personal and family reflections about his life amongst the more formal listing of his many accomplishments. I cried only during the part where I said that: "He taught us that the only true failure in life was not getting up and trying again".

Mom is exhausted and heart-broken, but closure was finally achieved by her and my family.

Thanks again, 'Rons and ''Ettes. There is something blessed about this group of anonymous electronic friends. You are all in my prayers.

Yes, it can have that antiseptic look. But stainless steel is very, very easy to maintain.

From an artistic standpoint when you delve into a monochromatic range like that, all of your accents have a 'pop' they might otherwise lack. Fresh flowers, colorful storage containers on counters, soft lighting, all can ease the effect.

The bits where the couples pretend to argue over which house they're going to pick (which is actually after they've already bought because House Hunters only takes couples who have already picked a house) are so awkward and amateurish.

107 I tuned into to a local Denver talk radio station yesterday because it is still programmed into my car radio and the host, a virulently anti-Trump Republican, was going on about how poorly Trump is performing now with women. I hadn't listened to this station in months, but I remembered that this program had been campaigning against Trump months ago. That the host pretended to be so shaken by the fact that Trump was performing so poorly when this, and many other supposedly right leaning GOPers have been actively campaigning against him more than they ever did even against Obama, was the height of obtuseness.

The anti-Trump (neverTrump) segment of the GOP I believe, has succeeded in creating a new neverGOP demographic and I think there will necessarily have to be a new party to accommodate them.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pushing for an expansion of federal surveillance powers by introducing an amendment to an annual funding bill late on Monday evening.

The proposal from the Kentucky Republican would allow the FBI to use tools known as national security letters to obtain peoples internet browsing history and other information without a warrant in the course of terrorism and federal intelligence investigations.

It would also permanently extend a provision of the Patriot Act that was renewed until 2019 last summer, which is meant to monitor lone wolf extremists who are not known to have any ties to a recognized foreign terrorist group.

Both measures have been criticized by privacy and civil liberties advocates, who have fought the proposals on multiple fronts in recent months.

If it also clearly indicative of the vile putrescence of all illegal border crossers and is clear, irrefutable evidence that every last Muslim on the planet is evil and that Islam should be eradicated from the planet.

expect to see plenty her "compassion" for the oppressed disguised as
legal reasoning.

A slight variation of doggy, with the addition of whispering, 'this is your sisters favorite position' in her ear.

The State Department just shows that after 7 years of this crap in Syria, they still think that destroying Assad is more important than stopping ISIS. I can't believe I am writing this, but between Obama and State, I am glad Obama disappointed the State Dept. Hawks and idiots like Graham, McCain, and Hillary Clinton. Maybe Assad and Putin can win this before she is in charge, and she can restore ISIS with US air power.

If the Obama administration supports something it's likely bad for the US. Seriously, that's where we are at.

Therefore, since Obama want him gone, then keeping Assad is probably a net good right now rather than letting ISIS have the entire levant.

Only Obama could make Russia the lesser evil FFS.

The world is upside down.

One of the biggest mistakes "we" ever made was supporting and actively engaging in the removal of Assad. For all his faults, and there are many, he is was and still is the only "best" option. And he was fairly predictable.

Weird - my current employer, as well as my previous one, gave out the 'shelter in place' advice from HR, but....

At my last gig, I was the only dude on staff what was allowed to carry concealed with the owners' encouragement, and at my current gig, the chief of security laid out the scenarios under which sheltering in place would be bad idea, which encompassed everything except tornadoes.

'Flee if you can, fight if you must,' he said.

243 My very first jury trial was in Eatonville, WA back in 1997 when I was out on my own in my initial solo practice. I called it the "Weenie Waggler Case".

My client was intoxicated and went to take a piss by a chain link fence, and a girl in a house across a field saw his junk. So, of course, he was charged with Indecent Exposure. It probably didn't help that he was so drunk that he was waving his cock around and yelling while leaking.

The complainant was a 14-year-old girl who, like all 14-year-olds these days, dressed like a fucking whore when she was on the stand testifying.

On cross-examination of the complainant, I queried: "Did you see the defendant's penis? I assume that as a 14-year-old, you know what a penis looks like?" And of course she answered "yes" since she'd probably already been giving blow-jobs for three or four years.

The verdict? NOT GUILTY!!!

And, as usual, my client still owes me money.

Ahhhhhh, Good Times(tm), Good Times(tm).

Time to take the train back to Seattle and get back to work.

I find the idea of Democrats having twenty years to govern unopposed rather distasteful, but to each their own.

How would yesterday's gun votes have turned out in a Democrat contolled Senate?

Totally worth it to see the GOP die, though.

So is Obama. The first linked article this morning is relevant to this issue because it speaks to Obama's policy throughout the Middle East.

He has allowed, almost pushed, Russia to take a much bigger role and to allow them to partner with Iran. Iran always wanted the sanctions gone because they wanted Iran as a trade partner, largely for weapons and oil, and they to have a power base in the region. The other end of that power base in the Middle East is Syria with her deep water ports and access to Europe.

He's been largely successful in his anti-American push.

In my ongoing Judicial Watch watch, Bryan Pagliano testifies tomorrow, at long last -- he was originally scheduled for June 6, screamed Fifth Amendment, Judge Sullivan looked over his immunity plea in the "criminal investigation" (the judge's words) that Hillary has yet to acknowledge as such, and finally said Let the deposition go forward.

In all this, I can't tell what became of Pagliano's intention to plead the Fifth. I was going to ask Judicial Watch (they've answered my inquiry before), but we'll know later this week anyway when the transcript is released. His entire testimony might be "I refuse to answer on the grounds that it might incriminate me."

Count on the Clinton campaign to have "no comment" on this or some bland, generic statement, because Hillary has repeatedly said she has urged all her aides to be completely forthcoming with the authorities.

And some legal eagle out there, please tell me why Pagliano wouldn't have given Hillary a total brain-dump on what he told the FBI when he was questioned under immunity. Did he plead amnesia to everything they asked?

Parents give their kids the talk because they know that kids who look a lot like their own kids are engaged in criminal activity far out of proportion to their numbers within the population. So they know the bad kids will make life harder for all of the good kids.

I once knew somebody who ranted when Windows XP included anti-piracy measures in the form of activation. Up until then you could install the same copy of Windows on as many machines as you liked, regardless of this being a direct violation of the licensing terms. For some strange reason, Microsoft thought they had a stake in getting paid for their core product.

So, his great justification was not that this made things less convenient for him as somebody who did a LOT of installs in the process of experimentation (and had scarcely any effect on normal users) but rather he took great umbrage at being treated like a thief and he wouldn't do business with anybody who operated that way.

I asked him how he managed to buy groceries, since his standards couldn't possibly allow him to buy those items at any store with security cameras or any other anti-theft measures. That stopped him dead in his tracks. He simply didn't have an answer.

It only takes a few bad people to make the world worse for everybody else. But there are always going to be bad people and you just deal with it and get on with your life.
