Behind the Stunt: How a Fake Book Cover Got 5 Million Views

This is pretty amusing...

Intending to exploit that contagious reaction last month, Scott put together a social experiment as part of a video series he was doing for Playboy. Printing up a number of absurdly fake book covers -- from "Ass Eating Made Simple" to "Mein Kampf: For Kids!" -- he hit New York's subway system to fake read them. Almost immediately, one of them was photographed by a redditor and went viral (racking up over 1 million views there). The video that followed did more than 4.6 million views and was covered by multiple outlets including The Guardian, Complex, and The Huffington Post. And this week, he followed up with part two of the video.

In high school I would sometimes go into New York City with friends and one of the stops was this big Army-Navy store. I think it was named Kaufmans. Anyway, they sold inert hand grenades relatively cheaply. I would buy one and hook it on my belt where it would be covered up by my jacket. We would then ride the subway and when reaching up to hold onto the strap (well, it is not a strap and has not been a strap for a long time so what do you call those metal handles near the ceiling of the subway car that you hold onto when standing so that you don't fall down?) my jacket would go up so that whoever was sitting down would have that hand grenade hooked on a belt at eye level.

I seriously doubt people would be as blase about that today.

264 Police say a small plane has crashed in the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey, and aviation authorities say it may be a World War II-era plane.

The Federal Aviation Administration say it received a report a World War II vintage P-47 Thunderbolt aircraft may have gone down in the river 2 miles south of the George Washington Bridge.

The New York Police Department says the plane crashed Friday night in the river closer to the New Jersey side. The NYPD says it's sending boats to the crash scene.

Once the colors are gone, there is no regiment. Only time that's ever happened. The battalions are attached to other regiments as bastard battalions. I was in 2/4, the Magnificent Bastards. We were attached to the 8th Marines.
