To be fair, back then Car Talk was still on NPR back then. They also were running Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. NPR has had some great stuff. Great enough they don't need federal funding. The entire Corporation for Public Broadcasting has fulfilled its job and should be eliminated. The other thing I heard on the radio last weekend was tuning in to the local "right-wing" radio station, the one that runs Levin (for whom I tune in), as well as Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, and others whom I try to avoid.
On weekends, a fat chunk of the air time is taken up by personal-finance shows. Since I'd left the radio on that station the last time I was listening to Levin, I got an earful as soon as I switched on. They had an "independent political analyst" giving an "analysis" of the presidential race which basically boiled down to how Trump is an uncontrollable loose cannon who will ignite trade wars and destroy your retirement savings, while Hillary is a trusted and well known name with solid pro-growth policies just like her husband's had been. The host didn't have enough good things to say about this "analyst". Why, he's independent! And objective! And nonpartisan and fair! And explains complex matters in small short words that even YOU, the listener, can understand! I took down the guy's name. J.T. Taylor. Then looked him up later when I got home. He's a former Chamber of Commerce flack who cut his teeth in politics in the Poppy Bush administration. At HUD, that rancid open-air pork trough. Anybody ask him where he got his numbers? Or, even better, call him a lying cocksucker? Posted by: tu3031 at May 24, 2016 05:32 PM (YFFpo) Juan is so damn stupid that it just burns. The VA killed my husband. Here's my rant again. ------- Most of you know that I am the widow of a VN Vet who died in agony of complications from Agent Orange. So, if we are going to keep flogging the VA for incompetence, then here is our story. For brevity and to protect my privacy, I will just call my husband DH in our story. Even though we had other insurance, DH was very stubborn about making the VA "pay" for his medical care. The Army got him into this shape, so the f*cking government could pay for his care. He had been sick for days with a terrible cough. He had an appointment at the VA hospital in Muskogee. I had to work. So a dear friend drove him to Muskogee for his appointment. I made him promise that while he was there, he would see someone for his cough/fever/etc. He tried. He went to their ER after his regular appointment, which had to do with the problems with his feet--so that appointment could not deal with the cough, etc. In the EMERGENCY ROOM of the VA Hospital, they refused to see him because he did not have an appointment. Yes, wrap your head around that, he needed an appointment to be seen in a f*cking emergency room. Friend brought him home without having seen a doctor for the cough. I get home from work and try to take him to the hospital a mile from the house. He was so exhausted and angry that he would not go, would not let me call an ambulance. That was Monday. Tuesday, I get up and go to work. I called him several times that day to check on him. The last time I called him around 3 PM, I told him when I got home we were going to the hospital. He said, "Okay." I said, "Bye, I love you." At 5 when I walked into the house, I found him face down on the living room floor all tangled up in his walker. I knew he was dead, but, just to be sure, I touched his ankle and it was cool. I called 911 and the cul de sac filled up with a firetruck, an ambulance, and 3 police cars. So f*ck the VA and all its minions who deal in sloth, indifference, and venality. There are some good folks who work there, but, as an institution it is broken and no one has the will to make it a decent place for sick and dying veterans to get care. There's a steady drumbeat from the media about how vets are perfectly happy with the VA. Well, the Trump plan is to give vets vouchers good for "care anywhere", not just at the VA. They can still go to the VA if they prefer it, but they'd no longer be locked in to it. My guess? The VA facilities are going to empty out of patients in record time. Then of course the VA will scream for a federal bailout. They shouldn't get one. Posted by: torquewrench at May 24, 2016 05:37 PM (noWW6) 247

In Nevada there is a state constitutional amendment that requires 2/3 of the legislature to vote on a tax increase. One year the evile Republicans refused to vote for new taxes to fund education (for our newly arrived illegal guests). Democrats went to court and the state superemes said they have to increase taxes....FOR THE CHILDREN!!
So even though it said in plain black and white in the state constitution, you need 2/3 to increase taxes, the judges said Meh, fuck off, you have to raise taxes. So I'm pretty sure the same thing will happen in Georgia. It seems "For The Children" trumps all else. Posted by: Monsieur Moo Moo at May 24, 2016 05:47 PM (r4VQU) 285

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. I tell that story so that self righteous pricks like Juan don't get to have their own damn facts. Juan knows Obama is an abject failure, but, he just can't bear to have Historic First Black POTUS criticized. It still burns me that during the seven years we put our son through private school, we were still taxed to death to pay for the worthless public schools here.

"All-Black Rodeo" has been a thing since well the 1860s in some ways.
Now the SJW Blacks like to claim "all" cowboys were black and that is horseshit, but there were plenty of former slave cowpunchers. Thing is All-Black *Fill in Activity X* would cause howls of rage if we had say "All-White Rodeos" or "All-White Baseball" or whatever.... but I saw the rodeo clowns for an all Black Rodeo working out in Louisiana on a run once... oddly looked just like any rodeo clown praying the 2000 pound bovine missile wouldn't gore their ass. A brand-spanking new elementary school was completed last summer.
Some members of the FSA weren't happy with the "bland" color, and so $57,000 was spent to add some colorful highlights. $57,000 Posted by: Jane D'oh at May 24, 2016 05:49 PM (1ZOkK) 292
As long as we are on an O/T roll, I just got a check for $0.08 as a result of a class action suit against ATT. I am pretty sure that the postage cost more than that.
I suspect that the lawyers who brought that class action suit collected more than $0.08 for their time. My reaction was not, "Oh, boy! A check for eight cents!" It was more like, "And that is why it is so difficult and expensive to do business in the United States that companies relocate every function they can outside of this country." I think that means that I have a bad attitude. Posted by: Obnoxious A-Hole at May 24, 2016 05:49 PM (QHgTq) 293

--------------- The bridge was a trooper! Everyone was kind of laughing, because what could you do? We could all tell that they were just happy to be married. I understand, as it was sleeting on my wedding day. I didn't care - nothing could have made me unhappy that day! Posted by: bluebell at May 24, 2016 05:51 PM (2WwbN) 297
Bride, not bridge.

282 Savage is a complete pinhead in my opinion. I've only listened to parts of his show a couple of times and was not impressed. WeaselWoman, who tries to be objective but struggles with progressivism, thinks he's a major jackass. Unfortunately, I think he gives conservatives a bad name to those who might otherwise be interested in rejecting the leftist KoolAid

--------------- If you're trying to bring her over from the dark side, by all means keep her away from Savage. Yuck. And just wondering, does she know you call her WeaselWoman? I don't know about that. Maybe Mrs. Weasel? Posted by: bluebell at May 24, 2016 05:56 PM (2WwbN) 300
296 that's good to hear - can't do much about the weather!
We were married in the Chapel at the Theological Seminary which burned to the ground a few years ago - I keep telling WeaselWoman that's a loophole! Posted by: Weasel at May 24, 2016 05:56 PM (e3bId) 301
Nah - there are some things best left UN-shared. Although, truth be told, she'd just laugh. I've kept her expectations of my behavior intentionally low over the years. Plus, it seems to just roll off the tongue.

Adam Corolla has talked several times about how his interview with them was spiked because they tried to gotcha him about a bit they perceived as racist toward asians, but when it turned out the perp was indeed asian, they were left looking like the bunch of leftist tards that they are.
