Trump: I Don't Bring Up Vince Foster's Death Because It Wouldn't Be Fair To Mention It Was a Straight-Up Murder

Hello.

From the WaPo:

He called theories of possible foul play "very serious" and the circumstances of Foster’s death "very fishy."

"He had intimate knowledge of what was going on," Trump said, speaking of Foster's relationship with the Clintons at the time. "He knew everything that was going on, and then all of a sudden he committed suicide."

He added, "I don’t bring [Foster's death] up because I don’t know enough to really discuss it. I will say there are people who continue to bring it up because they think it was absolutely a murder. I don't do that because I don’t think it's fair."

In all fairness, Trump is the cosmic avatar of "Fair."

18 Raising Vince Foster was part of a broader swipe:
"It's the one thing with her, whether it's Whitewater or whether it's Vince Foster or whether it's Benghazi. It's always a mess with Hillary,"

This does a few things, including to stop Hillary from selling a glorious return to the "peace and prosperity" of the Clinton 1990s. Also a response to Hillary's declaring Trump unfit and unqualified for the Presidency.

Strangely enough, I'm OK with that.

However, I do think that there is the possibility that if things get really ugly and Clinton stars losing badly, she'll "get sick" and have to leave the race, which will mean Bernie or Biden.

Family jokes have always revolved around dragging a corpse to a company car because it tripled the insurance payout. Dad said it would take all of us, but drag his dead body out to the car. Trump is a conspiracy theorist, which is very troubling. It shows that he is terrible at sifting fact from fiction and demonstrates that he looks for simple solutions to complex problems. He is also fond of demonizing folks.

That said, among the conspiracy theories the GOP nominee for president believes - Bush knew about 9/11 (and broader trutherism), Cruz's father helped kill JFK, birtherism, anti-vac - this is fairly mild.

This may be a good campaign tactic. It's sad that we've reached a point at which tabloid sleaze works, but we have, and the primary voters decided to embrace it.

124 A semi serious question, as I'm seeing the usual #nevertrump crowd laughing about this. So far I'm seeing at least two items Trump has mentioned that are getting the redstate people and others up in arms.

1) Trump projecting that Mike Tyson was possibly railroaded.
2) Trump mentioning Vince Foster vis a vis possible foul play by the Clintons.

I'm sure there are others, but these two for whatever reason really stand out to me. I had thought both of these were pretty common opinions. I mean, regarding the Tyson thing, I remember on the school yard as a boy, and in scouts, and listening to adults at the time, it was pretty common opinion that Tyson maybe got railroaded. Trump says it, and all of a sudden it's this crazy opinion we dare not speak.

Vince Foster same thing, I bet you go on some of these people's various social media timelines, and you'll find people cracking wise about Hillary and Vince Foster, I probably hear some reference to Vince Foster and Hillary a few times a year for the last two decades. Trump says it, and again, now it's something we're to be embarrassed about, someone dared to say out loud what people chatter about in private. I'm so offended!

144 I can understand Mika Brzezinski falling for the Carvel/Clinton trick of dilution, but not Ace.

This is so fucking obvious...

Hillary tried to pull the Trump/republicans hate women and are mean to them card. Trump, not being a limp-wristed pussy like the candidates he defeated, fired right back that Hillary was the anti-woman person in the race due to her actions meant to destroy the women Bill molested.

Back in the Clinton impeachment hayday, James Carvel instituted the dilution defense by taking a devastating true assertion and combining it with a number of crazy-sounding assertions, thus diluting the true one and making it easier to brush off the charges as just another crazy theory.

In this instance, a reporter (who was totally fucking obviously prompted to do so by the Clinton campaign) asked Trump about Vince Foster. Trump didn't bring it up, as most of the left wing media liked to play the narrative this morning.

Trump naturally answered with the truth. He said he didn't know much about it, but it was "fishy".

Being idiots or willfully conspiring with the Clintons, the media dutifully reported the encounter by lumping the Vince Foster comment in with Hillary's complicity in attacking the women coming forward in the rape and molestation accusations.

At least some of us are smart enough to know what is going on. It would be good if it was reported accurately.

Someone is going to have to get me a quote from him on the inside knowledge of 9/11. As far as I have observed, he never made this claim, but I'll be happy to be proved wrong.

What he did do, was annihilate the claim that "George Bush" kept us safe. By stating the correct fact that 9/11 happened while George Bush was president. The #nevertrump brigade took this and ran with it as "Trump is a 9/11 truther"

This is the brilliant part of Trumps larger strategy: The MFM has already tried laughing him off. All that seems to do is galvanize his support. They can try to ignore him, which allows him free reign to continue hacking. Sir Edmund has already tried to take the moral high road, but that just makes her seem like she's running away from his accusations. Eventually, she will have to fight him, but that would probably be on a debate stage, and she will NOT do well ad hoc. no matter how much her legion of consultants prep her and the MFM games the debates.

4. But in all fairness lets not forget Congressman Dan Burton shooting at watermelons in his backyard trying to re-enact the crime.....even I was embarrassed

Yep, and so was Stephanie Cutter when she speculated that Mitt Romney just might have killed a former employees cancer-stricken wife.
Also Harry Reid was floating a conspiracy that Romney never paid taxes.
Then there's Obama who constantly speculates that the only people who disagree with him might just be totes racists.

Think these are just different degrees of the "Hey' I'm just spit-balling here, just asking questions..." approach to sliming one's opponents. Trump doesn't even have to belief this stuff, just put it back out there and let the conspiracy theorists run with it.

A lot has certainly changed in how we handle accusers, victims in 30 or 40 years. Looking at things outside of those historical constraints should get the right people upset.

I think we can debate over what he said was legitimate, but your original point, I think is assumed in a lot of the #nevertrump circle. He may well have said some 9/11 conspiracy stuff that I missed, but I haven't seen it.

Folks saw that debate and said "Trump is a 9/11 truther" and I didn't think that was fair.

The WMD stuff, and the Bin Laden stuff, well... Bush's don't have much credibility with this stuff. My dad still will defend the WMD stuff, every time they showed some old empty rusty can of mustard gas on the news. But I tend to think if they had found the motherload, it would have been newsworthy.

I'll subscribe to a different conspiracy theory there, I always thought most of that stuff ended up in Syria. Probably being used now by the "moderate rebels" we are supporting... sigh.

He has telegraphed every single attack he has made since he got in the race, and it's all spelled out in the art of the deal. Respond to everything, no matter how slight, hit back twice as hard or harder.

The Cruz/Trump bromance ended when Cruz made a passing comment about Trumps temperament. Trump hit back with the Canada stuff a day or two later. Which he said he was going to do if Cruz broke the truce.

Trump then got the gift of the whole Carson/Cruz Iowa thing. I don't think either attack, the eligibility or the Lyin' Ted stuff was particularly effective from Trump. Cruz was an appealing candidate to a good chunk of the GOP base, but had a ceiling in a lot of places, and he benefited from being the last man standing if you don't count Kasich.

As Trump said, "It's the one thing with her, whether it's Whitewater or whether it's Vince Foster or whether it's Benghazi. It's always a mess with Hillary,"

There really were/are some. But was just an excuse for the hoi polloi. Wasn't considered a real threat to the people that mattered. (eg Kurds don't count)

The real reasons had more to do with NWO and world economic control than anything else. Sadam threatened the wrong people and stood in the way of some long term plans. Same with Colonel Qadaffi.

A lot of people think Vince Foster had limits. The thinking is that he had limits and panicked the people that didn't.

353 Trump then got the gift of the whole Carson/Cruz Iowa thing. I don't think either attack, the eligibility or the Lyin' Ted stuff was particularly effective from Trump. The "approach" would have been to choose a decent - or at the very least, not incredibly awful - GOP candidate. That ship has sailed, and we have to deal with the hand we've got.

Hilary will be a disaster. So will Trump.

Trump is actually to the left of Hilary on trade and international relations. On foreign policy in particular, Trump would be a disaster, potentially withdrawing from NATO and causing longtime allies to doubt our commitment while strengthening Russia's hand. In many ways, he will exacerbate Obama's mistakes in the international arena.

Both Trump and Hilary have authoritarian tendencies. Hil tries to hide hers, Trumps are out and supported by many of his followers. Hil will work to undermine the system from within to increase her power, Trump seems likely to run headlong at any obstacle, including the constitution.

Anything Trump does will be linked to conservatives.

Neither can be trusted to appoint decent Supreme Court justices, but Trump would likely be better. Hilary, however, would be a very weak president, detested within her own party, and could likely be defeated in 2020. If Trump is president, it is likely he will be the only Republican choosing justices for 8 to 16 years, given the tendency of the presidency to swing between parties.

In short, both options are awful, but I don't see it as a given that one is worse OVERALL (for the country, for conservatism, for the long haul) then the other.

376 In other news:

President Karl Sternovich announced new trade deals with the Republic of China on Taiwan, and the Russian Federation. In exchange for an elimination of tariffs on all Peruvian exports - consisting primarily of Hobo-pelts, empty, returnable bottles, and pr0n de-accessioned from the National Library of Peruvia - our newest trade partners will enjoy access to Peruvia's substantial and thriving vodka, firearms, and consumer electronics markets.

This new deal will ensure that every man, woman, tranny, and other-kin who wears the Fucking Poncho of our great nation shall have uninterrupted access to front-line items necessary to final victory over the hated Colomiban assholes, while ensuring those who keep the home-fires burning in the dumpsters and garbage cans of the home-front shall continue to enjoy a standard of living that makes us the envy of all lesser nations.

The ceremnoy was marked by the traditional exchange of gifts, with the ROC representatives presenting President Sternovich with a new, ruggedized, water-proof dvd and streaming web video-player with built-in IP anonymizer, zoom, and super-slow-mo features. Russian Federation delegates arrived with cases of vodka, off-loaded from air-dropped pallets that landed in a largely un-populated district of the capitol, causing four deaths. President Sternovich presented ceremonial, ginger-Hobo-pelt-lined Fucking Ponchos, hand-crafted by indigenous White Hispanic 'ette tribeswomen, to the puzzled furriners with their funny way of talking.

382 Any fight with the Democrats on a national level will be a gutter fight. It does not matter who you nominate, but that candidate better be willing to get into that gutter and get ugly.

This is something the leadership and pundit class of the GOP never understood. Ace linked to AP's blog post at hotair on this. AP is a perfect example. He keeps harping on "conservatives" not caring about "conservatism" (in other words: Trump's supporters). This seems to be the mantra of those who are still angry that Trump won the nomination. That they are the "true" faithful conservatives and Trump's supporters are just not real conservatives.

He is wrong! It is those nominees who care so much about conservatism that they are not willing to get into that gutter to save America that have failed conservatism.

Romney & Ryan did not want to get in the gutter to save America from another Obama term. Does that make them more conservative than Trump? McCain refused to get in the gutter to stop Obama in 2008. Does that make him more conservative than Trump? Same with Dole & Bush I, etc.

We had numerous GOP candidates in 2016 basically come out and say at the beginning that they were too high born, or too good, to get into that gutter. In essence they were saying at the beginning of their campaign they did not want the job. Hence why Trump is the GOP nominee and he is delivering on his promise to fight in that gutter.

And all I can say is...Thank God!

That said, I can't fault Trump for this type of attack. The libs do it ALL THE TIME and just as extreme. Personally, I think that the libs need to get the same dish served right back at them. It is also fortuitous that Trump is just the right person to do it and it is divine providence that Hillary is the recipient. The point isn't to conduct a gentlemanly and fair contest. Because you see the Media makes that impossible.

So the only thing to do is go for outrage and entertainment.

Example...no WMD's in Iraq. There certainly were...but, let's not burden everyone with the details. Obama didn't really lie about being able to keep your doctor because we all knew he was full of shit.

409 The problem (for Hillary) is that I believe that, even though the official report concluded that it was a suicide, the report was so full of holes, that the judge allowed an alternate report to also be attached by dissenting investigators. This one concluded that it was indeed murder.

410 29 Also a response to Hillary's declaring Trump unfit and unqualified for the Presidency.

And Miss Accomplishment knows a lot about being unqualified.

Hell she couldn't even bake cookies right when she was in the WH.

Here's a heads up on something you should know but don't seem to.

The Clinton's ARE conspiracy made fat ugly flesh. Everything they do is a conspiracy. They can't order a sammich without figuring some sneaky angle on it. If the Clinton's are involved, there's a conspiracy afoot. Got it?
