In addition to unpatched software and a lack of physical security that allowed non-TSA airport employees access to IT systems, the auditors found overheated server rooms and computers using unsupported systems - and much more. The observed "lack of an established disaster recovery capability" noted by the OIG is particularly scary. If a data center was taken out by natural disaster, passenger screening and baggage info would be rendered inaccessible. Not only that, but there was no security incident report process in place, and there was "little employee oversight in maintaining IT systems." Not uncommon at all. Electrically-heated jacket? Buy 'em at Cabela's, and many other outlets. Also some WWII flight suits, and motorcycle clothing. Faxed newspaper? Probably would have become a thing, had not WWII happened. Fax has been around a long, long, time. Even with color.

The other was this sweet goofy woman I used to work with; there was a whole gang of us that hung out together +35 years ago. I got back into skating about the time of Star Wars. What a difference a few years, some muscle tone and some skates that fit.

Long story short. Now although I like company, I'm glad I never got married and possibly went through a painful divorce.
I had some very deep loves but no marriage and when they broke up, I was devastated. I can't imagine what it would be like to go through that AND lose all your stuff AND your kids if you had any.
I don't condone it but I can understand why some guys lose it.
Most are already sickos but some were actually nice guys who saw a woman just tear there life apart.
(I'm sure there's plenty of stories from the distaff side but it sure seems to me that women get the clean side of the stick as far as divorce goes.)

One of the things that drove me crazy about the professional woman I worked with before, who got me fired? She could be so wonderful and friendly with everyone else, it drove me crazy. She'd call 'em honey, darling, the works. One of my coworkers even WENT THROUGH HER SMARTPHONE CALENDAR AND SHE CAUGHT HIM, during a meeting. Did she throw a fit at him? No, she shrugged it off.
But I stare at her a few times and I'm a monster. Like I've said, I just give up. Too many attractive women have *always* been able to have it both ways with interested men, and they always will. I hate it, but at least I finally get it.

My retirement plans center on the purchase of a 45' to 55' sloop or ketch. I'll get some Caribbean sailing in, and plan at least one full Trans Atlantic in the mix.
Those plans automatically cause 99% of 'em to flee, screaming, in the opposite direction. Including the otherwise lovely lass I've been with a good long while, here. But, she'd be at home in a Del Webb community, which I consider to be not much more than an unfilled grave.
That kind of "cardigan sweater" retirement works for most folks, but it can't and won't work for me.

I think I felt high after watching Batman Forever (1995), but that probably was the result of watching a crappy movie for like two hours in a way too small theatre in the frickin' front row with my head craned up to see the screen.
Now, Dazed and Confused, after I was walking out of that movie on the way to the parking lot, I thought that an enterprising entrepreneur could make a lot of money selling weed in that alleyway from the front door to the parking lot in back.

Spot on. That line doesn't help. I think what you need to do is learn to be happy alone. My tale is twisted with a need to take care of the ex and yet live my life. About 2 years ago I fell for a 2 on the 1-10 scale. Fat, balding and arrogant.. I have heard enough in my life to know that despite what I think I am I am in the 8-10 range. He made me laugh and feel good about myself. Now how to do you look back at something like that and realize u couldn't make it work ( he f'd up). Whether you lose a 1 or a 10 it hurts. I've just decided alone is good.

I don't support everything I see at AVoiceForMen. They've got men there who think women shouldn't be allowed to vote, for goodness' sake. But I do think a *sane* woman (or man) values the autonomy of their partner as well as themselves. I personally believe the best relationships are those that, as someone mentioned earlier, have a lot of give-and-take built-in. Sure, sometimes you do for your partner because you want to show them your love and support. But IMHO there should also be some times where each partner is free to put themselves first for a bit. She's had her heart broken, big time, once. She hasn't hurt any guy that I know of. Right now she's got one she hopes will be a keeper. I hope so, too, as he seems to be a terribly nice guy, very likeable.
For myself, speaking from a perspective of 38 years of marriage, I agree each person has to be allowed to be his/her own person. It takes time to work it all out, though. Over time, this all gets smoothed out in a reasonable relationship. For instance, there are some things my husband just won't do with me. Fortunately, I'm not one of those who just has to be joined at the hip for everything.
For Captain Whitebread, she isn't good enough for you. Take it from me. You will find better. If this should turn around and she should start behaving differently, well, then, I reserve the right to change my mind. Meanwhile, she isn't good enough for you, and that's all it is.

I was an emotional mess at the time ad certainly not in any shape to start a serious relationship. By the time I was, he wasn't around. Maybe things would have worked out if I had met him 2 years later. Who knows?
But that's worth remembering too - sometimes it really isn't you, it's where that person is at the time you meet them. You might be ready for a relationship - they might be too emotionally drained at that point.

I was 17 when that song came out, and I absolutely loved it.
Many years later I got to hear her sing it live. I had tears welling up. I am so grateful for that experience.

Camp Snoopy is there; in fact I sometimes like to call it "Schulzland" after Disneyland, they have actors all in costume as Peanuts characters, and the gift shop carries *tons* of Peanuts products and memorabilia.
It's a nice place, good for kids, and it's significantly smaller than Disneyland, so you can get in, have a good time, go on some rides, and get out and still have a bit of the day left for other pursuits. I think it's a nice place, my 10-year-old niece prefers it to Disneyland, and for all the ridicule it's gotten over the years, it's always been popular.

I was actually looking for Dylan's cover of "The Boxer", which was on the 1969 "Self Portrait" album.
"Self Portrait" was roundly panned by the critics. Then in 1970 he released the album "New Morning" to glowing reviews.
Fast forward to 2013 and the box set "Another Self Portrait" was released. Turns out that both of those albums came from the same recording sessions, and there was even better material that was not released at the time. Go figure.

I learned that poetry had each line captialized no matter what part of the sentence it actually was, that it was generally safe to skip any indented paragraph of regular sentences in italics, and it was important to rhyme unless it wasn't. I even learned prosody and Italian syllabic meter, and never improved on my original conclusions.
It was pretty much only when I was much older that I read Poe for anything other than the comedy (Berenice is a masterpiece of both the shaggy dog and golden arm type story) and realized that his work and the work of other authors have a great stress on rhythm and beat.
When you can write a simple set of sentences that read like prose but have a beat of iambs, you have a work of crypto-prosody hidden out where everyone can see.

I've seen the original painting -- which is wall-sized. There is a whole lot of similarity between the Russian mythologized Cossack story and the American mythologized Western. Powerful, capable people with strong ties to loyalty, honor, and family....and little respect for proper dress, "elevated" culture, and the ways of elites....behaving in pragmatic, often brutal, ways against the backdrop of an unforgiving and expansive land.

The rhythm and beat and meter are essential to poetry - people forget, I think, that it was meant to be recited aloud, usually from memory, and in a group. Poetry is a social activity.
Look at Beowulf - the damned thing screams to be chanted in a mead-hall..... Same with the Iliad, and, to a lesser extent, the Odyssey, albeit in different settings.
All poetry is meant to be recited - I find I cannot enjoy poetry at all unless I read it aloud.

Well, there's a long story there. Back in the 1930's, there was a black radio show out of Helena, Arkansas, sponsored by King Biscuit Flour Company. The real deal.
Now, or recently, it's been revived as a blues specialty show. Richard Newell, aka King Biscuit Boy, took his name from that history. He was one hell of harp player, and played a mean slide guitar too. Left us way too soon.

There are so many gym chains that are based off of fat people going in and not having to be harmed by looking at people that don't look like monsters from a Tolkin novel. In these gyms you're not allowed to do anything that can be construed as exercise and you're encouraged to gorge on pizza.
This poor woman probably goes to a gym with similar ideals, where you're not allowed to be in better shape or look better than anyone, or you're a "problem"

We refer to it as "bridge suck". You can be driving along, minding your own business, and all-of-a-sudden see "last exit before toll bridge".
We had a bunch of fun -- the fiancee can now pick locks, I got a bunch of safety glasses from Google's booth without people noticing, I got to share some info and reminisces with some folks, and there were even some double-takes over my shirt. I thought of you at the IEEE booth -- they have a consulting networking thing going on, but that was separate from the main booth and they didn't seem to have a flyer for it.
I regret not being able to eavesdrop on more conversations with Dwight, but things had already run 30+ minutes over discussing the semi-mythical ultra-efficient widget from Petaluma. And, BTW, my parents had a bug that color of Volkswagon red.
Incidentally, the Subsequent Event's previous parking problems for the last decade....have gained hyperdrive. Parking was insane. Wifi on the floor was insane -- a major theme was IoT, so every sensor demands an IP address and channel.

SF has a cop shortage, which means they can't fire bad apples. Also, most cops can't afford to live in the city much less the neighborhood they patrol. What do you think causes these 2 problems?
Friends of mine visited there recently and they said SF is now either millionaires or homeless.

Wake up to see an email from Musicians Friend.
Ordered a Yamaha Stage Custom kick drum first of February. It was back ordered till 2/24. No problem.
Then it got back ordered till 5/31. Not pleased but could live with it. I wanted it to match up with the two mounted toms and floor tom I had bought from them in the past. Great sound birch in a beautiful finish.
Now they have cancelled the order.
