26 In my diversity class they started picking on the entire industry as not being "diverse". Lot's of hyperbole, propaganda, supposition and fictional examples. Problem being this was really a hypothesis and not back up by fact.

When I related that in my 30 years experience we were the first industry to put women in various positions, African-Americans, homosexuals, etc. because our job was to make money, we needed to pick the best person, period, and we didn't give a shit about their demographics there was about a 30 second uneasy silence.

Back in the day, we all remember, text books all used the male (and universal) pronoun 'he.'

For a while, school text books used 'she/he.'

Today, text books go out of their way to mostly use 'she' and occasionally 'he.' And if text books use hypothetical names, it's nearly always either a male latino name or a anglo female name. Diversity. Like it fucking matters.

Had a run-in with a young homeless guy (seemed crazy) on a city bus with my son. Guy kept trying to engage us in conversation while also making comments about it to himself (yep, weird). Was polite, but got off at the next stop. My son was horrified that I was "mean" to him and "hurt his feelings," so I explained that we were not required to participate in the dude's crazytrain, that *our* comfort came first.
