24 Jane D'oh turned me on to the Black Rifle Coffee Company:

http://www.blackriflecoffee.com/

The first time I ordered, I picked "ground" by mistake, and immediately e-mailed them asking to change my order to "whole bean". I got a reply saying that it was too late, and my order had already shipped. Oh, well. Gotta love the lightning-fast service.

This time, I ordered on Monday, and didn't get shipping confirmation until Wednesday. My order finally began moving on Thursday, with an estimated delivery date of Monday.

I figured that I still had enough left for Saturday and maybe Sunday, but may be forced to dip into my emergency jar of rancid instant swill before I got the new shipment.

But I just checked the tracking number again this morning, and now it says I'll get it today! Woo-hoo!

35 From this week in 1944- preparing to break out at Anzio.

The EZ Dog Journal

May 19, 1944
Rainy but not sloppy yet. Business is picking up on the B.H. Advance elements of 36 Div came in today. We are starting to compile a program for D-Day which would indicate that day not too far off. "E" CB section will move to the field May 21.
Most of the units of Corps Arty and lots of Div Arty units moved to battle positions ready for the start.

May 20, 1944
Cloudy, quiet day. 36 Div continues to arrive. Arty is partially in - also some TD's. I saw Jim F________ of 636 FA Bn when he checked in. He said Fred B_______ was pretty badly shot up on the other front.

May 21, 1944
Attack postponed for 24 hours so we aren't moving. Very quiet day. We have our programs all out. The P-51's are squared away and every thing seems set. Tomorrow we move - subject to change.

B.H = Beachhead
36 Div = 36th Division
CB = Counter battery
TD's = Tank Destroyers

P-51's = I don't think he's talking about the airplane, possibly a joke about having their can openers ready for being out in the field, or perhaps it's a designation for some Army paperwork

Doods are high-larious. I use one of their travel mugs daily, very cool.

I really like their Just Black blend. The only thing is, it's a bit expensive, especially compared to my normal brew, the Earlywine Breakfast Blend from Independence Coffee, which is on the shelf at HEB. The IC coffee is equally delish, but more readily available here in TX.

45 Do they have caffeine IV drips? If so, please hook me up.

*****

Short answer: Yes

Longer answer: Premature infants are prone to apnea spells for multiple reasons, primarily a less mature brainstem that doesn't respond appropriately to increasing CO2 levels (the baby "forgets to breathe") and secondarily the immaturity of the lungs which leads to "underbreathing". The main pharmacologic treatment for this is intravenous caffeine citrate, which stimulates the brain (duh!) and also relaxes the airways.

A similar chemical, theophylline, used to be a mainstay in asthma treatment.

65 I think the best everyday coffee is:

"Santo Domingo Coffee" from the Dominican Republic

Available on amazon.

It's a medium roast that's very smooth and flavorful and always smells great.

For dark roast-

Illy's Dark Roast is fabulous-

if grotesquely overpriced.

Also available on amazon. I've also seen it in "World Market" and other stores.

It's pretty much the perfect dark roast IMO. Lots o'flava. No burnt taste.

YMMV.

Dang, I didn't realize it was considerably cheaper by it pre-ground versus whole bean. It is pretty good stuff. This morning, I'm drinking Charleston Coffee Roasters' "Signature Blend" bold roast. 74 Sidebar about handing over the internet to, in essence, worldwide marxist censorship makes me nuts.

This is probably the worst blow that TFG could strike at freedom of speech and freedom in general worldwide.

Welp, I'm sure that the same group of oligarchs and anti-American a-holes that have made the UN such an effective engine of corruption will work similar magic on the internet.

Yay?

And, of course, the best part is that the Republicans who hold both the House and the Senate,

78 There's some disagreement regarding the preservation of coffee in the freezer, so I wimped out and just stuck it under the cabinet. I went through a coffee purchasing binge a couple of years ago and began stockpiling coffee when it was $5/lb at Costco. I didn't realize how slowly I was actually consuming the coffee, though. Generally, it's the froufrou flavored stuff that's most affected by age. I've got an "extra hot" setting on my coffee maker that seems to remediate the issue.

83 Just got back from picking up my lawnmower and my cat. And I beat the rain, which should be here any time now.

The lawnmower got a new head after it threw a spark plug last weekend. It was $82 for parts and labor, which is much better than a new mower.

The cat got her eight-week scheduled grooming, so she's even silkier and fluffier than usual. That was $42. Believe me, with fur as luxuriant as hers, grooming is not a luxury but a necessity. You don't want to know what happens without it. Let's just say it can get smelly for me and uncomfortable for her.

So I've actually accomplished stuff today, and it's not even 10:00. Now I won't feel guilty about screwing off for the rest of the day. And the rain means that I won't actually have to use the lawnmower.

They are up to version 15 now but my crotchety old computer will not run it. Thay had a newer version that would run on mine but they think it is made out of gold. So I just loaded the old one back.

85 48 ... COJ, Smart move getting the Kitchen Aid and attachments. Nothing beats what it does. We have two, both over thirty years old and still going strong.

If you need more kitchen knives, check out the kitchen line from Victorinox. Yeah, the same folks who make Swiss Army knives. They are relatively inexpensive, excellent quality, easy to maintain, and come razor sharp out of the package. I have one now and will get more. They are a terrific value.

86 "check out the kitchen line from Victorinox. Yeah, the same folks who make Swiss Army knives. They are relatively inexpensive, excellent quality, easy to maintain, and come razor sharp out of the package"

We purchased the six piece serrated steak knife set at amazon based on a Moron's recommendation here.

They cut like a razor, and stay sharp.
They feel like cheap Chinese tin and plastic.

But if you can move past that, and focus on performance, they are outstanding.

Another example of the left not only controlling the narrative, but controlling how people think about these things.

Catholic priests are associated with pedophilia, that's all anyone knows about Catholic priests these days.

It doesn't matter that rates of sexual contact between priests and minors is dwarfed by the sexual contact that occurs between public school teachers and minors, or coaches and minors, or music teachers and minors, or cops and minors, or probably newspaper writers and minors.

That's not the narrative, and it never will be. It's all about the Catholic priests. Why? Because the left wants it to be.

Yeah, with shipping, it's quite expensive indeed, compared to what I can buy in the supermarket. This time I ordered two bags to cut down on the shipping cost. So far I've only had Just Black. This time I also ordered Silencer Smooth.

My taste buds can't really tell a whole lot of difference between coffees. But this is a company worth supporting, as opposed to all the companies we should be boycotting (as was discussed the other day). It takes me almost a month to go through a 12 oz. bag, so the extra expense is not a big deal for me.

113 Seamus, iirc the little keyring can opener is a P-38, which was also the designation of one helluva plane, the twin-engine, twin-tail, twin-fuselage heavy fighter introduced late in the war. As to the can opener, they were prominently featured in a surplus catalog we regularly received when I was a kid, from PS Sales in Tulsa. I even found one amid the gravel in my driveway last summer, completely rusted, but the shape was immediately recognizable. Where it came from and how long it had been there, who knows?

Re Coffee: If you have a GFS nearby (formerly Gordon Foods, the wholesale restaurant supply open to the public), try the Italian Roast whole bean. Regularly priced at $11.99 for two pounds (and that's 16oz pounds, not the new 11-or-12oz "Obama Pound" as pioneered by Starbucks), it is often on sale for $9.99 for a 32oz vacuum-sealed bag. The beans are nearly-black and oily, smell delightful, and the brew will wake the dead and render the average Moron positively perky.

I know a woman, very attractive, who was raped several years ago by somebody in a governmental role. She has contact with people at various levels of government as part of her job, and says generally within five minutes of meeting a politician he's talking about his penis. And assuming SHE should be interest in hearing/seeing more. It's routine for them.

No, I'm being accurate. Your proposal to jail male teachers for having sex with students but just fire women for doing the same thing is antithetical to our legal principles and is very much in line with feminist theory. You may not see it, but it's the truth. You propose separate sets of consequences for the same conduct based on gender, in favor of women and against men. It's misandrist, feminist, and wrong.

I agree. Study of people who "had sex with" much older adults as teens shows dramatic break on gender as to whether the experience was satisfying. Vast majority of women report it was creepy and coercive, vast majority of men say it was noncoercive and enjoyable. Heard about the research on the radio, so I don't have a link.

175 And seriously dude, were you ever a teenage boy? Or teenage girl?

Do you not know that these things are different? Your 16 year old son will have sex with a fat frumpy woman in a cemetery, because HE is a boy.

Your teenage daughter, whether she's having sex with a male teacher or a female teacher (that part doesn't really matter), she's going to be damaged by the experience in ways the boy will not.

So... if you want to work that into the law somehow, I don't really care, because the law doesn't get equally applied in this world anyway. But it's not the same thing.

If you argue that it is, you're just wrong.

Depends on the kid. Some girls would be undamaged (or at least as undamaged as they were before) because they were doing it to piss off their parents. Some boys would later have trouble forming close relationships. See issues like this in handsome boys and men all the time.

The book and movie "The Reader" explores this issue along with others.

It doesn't matter that rates of sexual contact between priests

teachers and minors, or cops and minors, or probably newspaper

That's not the narrative, and it never will be. It's all about
