5 RALEIGH, N.C. Politicians in Texas, Arkansas and elsewhere
vowed defiance and other conservative states could follow suit after the Obama administration told public schools across the U.S. on
Friday to let transgender students use the bathrooms and locker rooms
that match their gender identity.

Yes, his illegal extortion is the direct result of Scalia dying.

The federal government's guidance was met with tearful praise from parents of transgender students.

10 The Obama-era gun surge finally is receding, according to the latest
government statistics that show the total number of firearms
manufactured in the U.S. dropped in 2014 for the first time during this
administration.

99% probability with a 99% confidence factor that this is yet another Obamanite lie.

12 Michigan has spent millions to pay officials and government workers
scrambling to provide water, filters and other resources after lead
contaminated Flint's water, according to a document obtained by The
Associated Press.

No mention of the rampant corruption in Flint's Democrat controlled government that caused this mess. But the taxpayers of MI must bail them out while MI itself is not doing all that well.

18 Can't that f***ing idiot even make a simple commencement speech and stick to the usual time tested and honored format. Every time he opens his mouth in public he has to lecture the world. It has obviously never crossed his mind there may be people in the audience that don't worship him and disagree with his BS. He always falls back into he community organizer mode at every opportunity. I wonder if he ever considered that many of parents of the students in attendance hate his guts and it might be a good idea to not say things that would insult them? 25 Good Monday morning, Morons!

Monday morning polling...

The big change in the RCP average is the entry of the Gravis poll into the RCP mix. Gravis has historically been an odd duck, often varying wildly from the other polls. This poll is no exception, finding Clinton leading Trump 48-46. This is a very very good result for Trump, since it is at least 5 points higher than his support in any other poll.

It is also odd in that it is showing significant support for Trump from hispanics, very much counter to the results in all other polls, which generally show him losing this demographic around 30-70.

We will wait and see if Gravis has caught the start of a trend, or if it is an outlier.

The RCP average is now Clinton +5.7%.

29 Good morning all!

From this date in 1944- The EZ Dog Journal

May 16, 1944
Goums on the other front have progressed 8-10000 yds in front of every one else. II Corps is moving steadily. Lots of PW's being taken. Polish Corps unable to move far. The 8" guns came in. They will need a few days in ordnance before being ready to fire.

Though Dad rarely talked about the war, I do remember stories around the campfire on Scout trips telling of the mysterious Ghoums. These Moroccan fighters, renowned for nighttime operations were rumored to creep into tents, dagger in hand, and gently feel for the sleeping occupants' dog tags. If they failed to feel dog tags they assumed "enemy" and would slit the sleeping man's throat.

Gulp!!

Maybe that's why I never slept soundly on camping trips...

30 So after the progs have shoved transgendered restrooms in schools down the nations throat, what is next? (A SJW's work is never done, people are just in need of so much change). I'm looking for schools starting to identify kids that ought to be using the other bathroom. Yes, they will root out kids that have repressed their inner tranny and need help expressing their true identity. No need to advise the parent of this as they are most likely the cause for the repressed feelings. They might need some counseling of heir own but that can be addressed at work with tolerance sessions.

You know it's coming

42 NYT: Hear him whip the women just around midnight

NYT has a hit piece on Trump based on extensive interviews, "Crossing the Line: How Trump behaves with women in private."

The big reveal: Trump got laid a lot. What got buried in the story is that he promoted women in his business when others in his industry didn't.

Now the woman that leads the story says she was misquoted and that Trump was always a gentleman.

The dog that didn't bark: No date rape allegations. No rape rape allegations. No "you ought to put some ice on that."

48 Voxday on Trump
https://voxday.blogspot.com/2016/05/nobody-cares-anymore.html

We really don't care about his myriad flaws. If Trump stripped naked in front of television cameras at the Washington monument, did a little pole dance, confessed to a daily cocaine-and-call-girl habit, then promised to put every Congressman and Senator on trial, he'd gain five points in the polls. Maybe ten.

70 "I am of a different time," Thomas told the graduates. "Today there is much more focus on our rights as citizens and what we are owed, it is not often that one hears of our obligations or duties as citizens. "

With all due respect, that is false. The productive are told they have a "duty" to pay their fair share. Legal citizens are told they have a "duty" to allow in unvetted illegals. Only the human locusts are whipped into a state of perpetual grievance and told only about what they are "owed" at other peoples' expense.

Well, we know that Trump has praised Putin. We know that he has reacted to attacks on Putin by drawing a moral equivalency between America and Russia that would embarrass a leftist college sophomore. We know that the Russian state media is lavishing praise on Trump.

We know that Trump is pushing for a foreign policy that would further Putin's plans to reclaim the territory lost by the USSR - particularly in relation to withdrawing America from NATO.

We also know that Paul Manafort, Trump's primary adviser, was also a chief adviser to Yanukovych, the tremendously corrupt Putin-puppet tyrant of Ukraine who worked to squash his people's desire to move closer to western democracies. We know he worked with Yanukovych when he was ousted and Putin used the incident as an excuse to invade a neighboring nation. And we know that several of Trump's odd collection of foreign policy advisers are very pro-Russian and championed the invasion of Ukraine.

We also know that when Trump was asked if he spoke with Putin, he refused to answer.

So yeah, that would be interesting.

"Well, we know that Trump has praised Putin."

I've praised Putin too. He was exactly what Russia needed after the breakup of the Soviet Union.

People in Russia are still going through a traumatic experience, going from a superpower to a second rate country. They needed a strong, nationalistic leader to keep things together and restore a sense of pride.

Only idiots still believe that Russia is the same enemy we faced in the Cold War days. Russians have embraced capitalism in a way I wish democrats would. They love all things American and want to transform their country to mimic the U.S.

When Putin talks tough, it's to give their citizens the feeling that Russia still matters. They will operate in their best interest, just as we will operate in our own best interest.

Putin is a tyrant. He murders political opponents, including members of the press. He is working to enrich himself and his cronies - witness the Panama papers - at the expense of the Russian people. In general, he seeks to further his own interests, not the interests of Russia.

He is also actively working to reclaim territory he claims is his - for instance, Ukraine and the Baltic states. He regularly engages in acts of provocation against the Baltics (kidnapping border agents), America, Britain, and other nations.

He sees neighboring nations as his to control, just as did the USSR and czarist Russia before it. He is a massive danger to international stability.

There is nothing praiseworthy about Putin. If that is the type of leader you want, I sincerely hope you don't get it.

My opinion? The seizure is just one of those things that were planned a long time ago and it is a handy time to do them now. Sort of an occupational therapy for those who need something to do.

On the other things that are more important, the declaration of emergency in response to widespread, low-level revolt, the gangs getting out of hand, the rise of vigilante justice on the streets that could spark into a serious riot at any time, and the military getting nervous, I am worried the Maduro is going to go full Jim Jones on us.

Maduro's only option is to win. All other options include light poles or locks.

Everything you said about Russia and Putin could be said about the U.S. and Bill Clinton.

You wanted George Washington to step in after the USSR breakup, but not only was he unavailable, but he was the wrong person for the job.

Russian respond to the type of personality Putin has. When a country is going through turmoil and transition, you don't need a civil rights spokesman, you need a strong leader. Just like a lot of other countries in the world, sometimes populations are just not ready for a full-on Jeffersonian democracy.

There are dozens of countries that would benefit from a monarchy or dictatorship right now. It's only because we have a pack of uninformed, pie-in-the-sky liberals who believe everyone is ready to run to the voting booth that the U.S. has basically forced "democracy" on countries that have no business ruling themselves.

159 "And what determines which nations have "business ruling themselves?"

It has to be one way or the other.

Either we, as the world's sole superpower, accept the responsibility to see that people throughout the world don't starve to death, aren't slaughtered by their own governments and hundred other basic rights, or we stay the fuck out of their business.

If we are willing to sit by and let genocide occur and mass starvation, then that's what we should do. Let them solve their own problems.

However, if it's the collective will of the U.S. to intervene, we should recognize that a number of populations do not have the cultural background, infrastructure, education or will to adopt our way of government along with our help.

Dictatorships and monarchies don't need to be brutal, evil things. Sometimes, you need a single entity in charge to make the changes needed and to take responsibility for the outcome.

The world is a tough place that can't always run with up-twinkles or down-twinkles.

Reality is a bitch.

We tried to ease the pain of all the bad examples. But bad examples are the only thing that could ever pursuade most Americans from trying the same stupid policies here.

Posted by: person at May 16, 2016 09:17 AM (mFkVC)

Russian history for the win. You can't just look at today and say "See why are they so paranoid?" The Russians have spent their history being invaded. It's made them paranoid about their borders. In the past 200 years, they've been invaded at least three times in ways that threatened their existence. Then after the Soviets collapsed we started bringing all of the bordering countries into NATO and the EU. That was a mistake. We should have encouraged and worked on having the Balkan/Eastern European countries from an independent buffer coalition. That would have made the Russians less paranoid.

Would you feel comfortable with the Russians bringing Mexico into their influence and then stationing a couple of divisions there? We almost had a nuclear exchange when the Russkies put missiles in Cuba.

I saw this last night, and I'm honestly surprised it's taken so long. Even at the current federal minimum wage, each employee at a fast food joint represents an expense on the order of 2-3 thousand dollars a month. I can't imagine that a touchscreen attached to a credit card swipe device is that expensive.

Seems like these sort of things should be profitable pretty much immediately, and it's not like there's much to go wrong with them. I guess there's got to be some sort of hidden cost for maintenance/repairs that I'm not considering?

Bingo. Russia isn't entering into alliances with out neighbors. Russia didn't pour money into the phoney-baloney and murderous Euro-Maidan bullshit. Russia didn't cut off utilities and supplies to the Donbass and use artillery and air-power to make the rubble bounce.

Sounds like it's already been started here - and note that the suggestions for "training" professors sounds like re-education camps:

...students at the Matteo Ricci School of Humanities took over the Dean's
office and demanded that the Dean be fired and all of their demands be met:

Chief among their demands is an order for the school to
adopt a new curriculum that "decentralizes Whiteness and has a critical
focus on the evolution of systems of oppression such as racism,
capitalism, colonialism, etc." The curriculum should be taught by "professors of color and queer professors" and should place particular
emphasis not on traditional educational concepts but instead on "racism,
gentrification, sexism, colonialism, imperialism, global white
supremacy, and other ethical questions about systems of power."

And note this activist's name and tell me Islamists haven't completely merged with SJWers:

236 Lots of crazy here today. Putin is hated by Muslims within his borders because tyrant. He is loved by Iranians, our sworn enemy, because weapons supplier. He makes alliances with Cuba, Bolivia and Venezuela, because those are the only "neighbors" (remotely defined) willing to do so. If Canada or Mexico were willing, he'd dive right in.

Putin is a desperate man, a man who murders his opponents within and without with nary a worry, who wants nothing more than to impoverish and enslave any and all countries who oppose him (like the US), and anyone who thinks differently is hallucinating.

Indeed. Take a trip to Poland or Romania or Latvia or any other country that has been invaded by Russia over the decades and ask them about poor Russia and their paranoia.

There's a reason that just this weekend ground was broken in Poland, days after ground breaking in Romania, on a new NATO missiles shield. Nobody forced the Poles to take it and they were pissed when Obama abandoned the idea when he took office and hit the reset button.

The idea that Putin took Crimea because he was afraid of being invaded is silly. He took it for his own strategic reasons.

Bingo. Russia isn't entering into alliances with out neighbors.
Russia didn't pour money into the phoney-baloney and murderous
Euro-Maidan bullshit. Russia didn't cut off utilities and supplies to
the Donbass and use artillery and air-power to make the rubble bounce.

We've been sold a bill of goods about the whole thing.

Doubt it? Ask yourself why the boogey-man 'alt-right' and jihadists
are sending militias to back a Soros-funded coup, supported
enthusiastically by the SCOAMF and his State Department, and then ask
why you trust what this wretched man and his cronies are telling you
about it.

And, as long as you're wondering, ask why Putin enjoys such
popularity among the rather substantial Muslim minority within his
borders.

[Clipped your name because Pixy doesn't like it] --------------------------------------------

The left accused W and his peeps of having nefarious motives for invading Iraq, and doing all the other things they did. I don't buy most of that, but it's not necessarily traitorous to the Republican Party to say those goofs had no idea what they were doing, and were incredibly naive to think it would work.

Putin and Co., for all their faults, at least have adult thoughts, and adult motives. They know a thing or two about balance of power, buffer zones, and finding an enemy of my enemy, and calling him friend... with consequences.

Meanwhile, here in the good ol' US of A, I dare you to find me one prominent person who is speaking of our overall strategy, and talking about goals regarding this ever increasingly futile War on Terror.

Look, Russia has a substantial domestic Muslim population - always has, always will - and the vast majority are patriotic citizens. Chechen forces fought alongside Russians in Chechnya and are doing so today in Western Ukraine, not as muslim holy warriors, but as Russian patriots.

Putin rules a large and dangerous country, and manages to hold it together by - admittedly - iron-fisted methods. Yes, he recognizes that Russian interests do not always align with American interests, but Putin's Russia is not a threat to anyone who isn't a threat to them.

He backs Iran as a counter-balance to the influence of the Sunni wahabbists - i'm not crazy about that, but it is what it is, and if he's found a way to get ISIS and Hezbollah to slaughter each other, I tip my hat to the man's brilliance.

But, there's always the fall-back position, I suppose, the one we've heard non-stop from the Western media and, strangely enough, the jihadist scum dying in Russian air-strikes. I do want to know, however, why anyone who knows we've been systematically lied to by the State Department and Barry about EVERY SINGLE DAMNED THING should credit their testimony when it comes to Russia.

Russia is a gas station. That's what it is. I't no big surprise that Putin used to be head of Gazprom. Medvedev too. That's where all the power in Russia is located.

That DoJ lawyers called a perfectly legitimate FBI question out of bounds in an interview with Cheryl Mills tells you the fix is in at DoJ.

You need to refocus your existential compass, and concentrate on your own internal strife, your own borders, because WE as a nation, cannot help anybody else right now. We're not capable of it, and indeed, you have two political Parties led by soulless, evil bastards, and neither of them is capable of making morally sound choices, internationally, right now. Yeah, I get admiring the patriotism thing. All of us are tired of the constant, apologetic anti-Americanism we get from Obama & Co.

But you know who was an even greater patriot than Putin? Hugo Chavez.
Who can forget how he loved to sing all the old Venezuelan folk songs, how his eyes filled with tears at the playing of the anthem, how he bowed his head and kissed the flag, how he named his revolution for the hero Bolivar?

And who can forget how he fought with every fiber of his being to protect HIS country's borders against the wicked United States, the international Zionist conspiracy, and the "Israel of Latin America," Colombia?

Of course, he left his country in a shambles --- and his personal bank account stuffed with billions of dollars.

He loved Venezuela, I believe, but he loved Hugo Chavez a whole lot more. In any case, his love for Venezuela was sentimental and almost an abstraction. It didn't really include a love for actual, living Venezuelans.

Except for those three times we did it in Germany, Italy, and Japan. OK, maybe not so much Italy. But except those, it's never ever been done. Except by the Romans, but you gotta salt the earth first. But yeah.

372 In the 70s, there were three such colleges -- no federal loans, scholarships, etc. Now there is only one. To borrow a phrase: Sad!

I believe Thomas Aquinas College, which teaches the Great Books Program, also refuses any fed money.

It is literally more Catholic than the Pope.

373 367 ... votermom, the problem with the US having a "bad ass" ability to project power has become pretty simple to me ...

Given that power, Republicans withe some Democratic support will ALWAYS want to flex that power internationally. A solution looking for a problem.

And Democrats, with some Republican support, will always want to flex it domestically.

Limited Government combined with Big Federal Armies, regardless of their name, will just never fvcking work.

374 @Jackstraw and others-If you are interested where these Trump supporters get their Putin love, take a listen to that nut job Michael Savage. They repeat verbatim what he spews daily here.

376 Fen: meh to saving a gosling. The park by my house is infested with those Canadian shit machines (no, I'm not talking about the Trudeau family). Their disgusting, disease laden feces force me to practically hopscotch down the path to avoid getting green crap in my sneaker treads.
And they are as mean as swans.

I hate the things. That girl should have let nature take it's course.

377 291 Teacher turns desks into notes of encouragement before big exam:

That's fine. But even more useful would be encouragement to study. Having a great attitude during the exam will not magically inject knowledge into your mind.
