2 In Oregon the pockets of GOP dominance are of course going to elect more conservative people...

Look for that to continue if Grammy H gets elected with the Bill Kristol Neocons 4 H Dawg's help.

If Grammy gets power en perpetual with GOP help the GOP needs scourged.

The universe is silly.

Brilliant post though. I would tell Dave to quit his day job, and get to writing for teh internetz, earning that crazy blog money, but heck, he's got too much integrity for that.

Unlike SOME people we could mention (but won't).

It is part of why I am Trump agnostic.

Donks got to indulge their darker passions the last 14 years.

Why can't the right join in on the fun?

Normalcy won't return unless and until the relatively sane(such as they are) moderate donks reassert themselves.

For them to want normalcy they are in fact going to have to feel political pain that makes them uncomfortable.

Evidently the DC GOP is not up to the job.

I do not believe in a left-center-right paradigm. It presupposes violence and hatred on our side when that is reserved exclusively for theirs.

Timothy McVeigh was not of the right. He was a violent murderous nut job who was disavowed by every sane, decent person. I don't see anyone on the left ever disavow the Weathermen, the Panthers, the Red Army Faction, FARC, Shining Path etc. et al.

There are two sides; those who believe in ordered liberty and freedom and those who do not. Fuck this moral equivalency. There isn't. We are good, they are evil.

29 Good morning Horde!

There is no change in the Cook ratings or the RCP average today. Clinton continues to lead Trump by an average of 6.4%.

However, I do want to mention a Reuters/IPSOS poll that was released yesterday that is not being included in the RCP average (at least not yet). When/if it is included, it will tighten the numbers further. Here is the pull quote...

"Donald Trump's support has surged and he is now running nearly even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party's presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday."

Sounds great doesn't it? Here are the actual results of the poll: Clinton 41%, Trump 40%, Undecided 19%.

So yet another in a very long 7 week period of polls showing Trump at 40%. There is one thing we do know about the coming election. Trump has a very strong core support of 40% of the voters. I can't really see anything that the Democrats or the GOPe can do to cut into that 40%. In fact I would argue that a third party candidate would actually help Trump because it would bleed potential support from Clinton.

Despite the shock headlines of the polling firms, I continue to wait for improvement in Trump's number, rather than changes in the differential between them. When he starts to inch up over that 40% mark, then I will start having a more optimistic view of his chances.

30 A variant in the series:

"The portal is collapsing, the portal is collapsing!'

Loud sounds of machinery failing, electrical discharges, and the weird sounds of an inter-dimensional portal - sounds remarkably like a 1954 Amana freezer.

"How long do we have?"

"Ten months sir!" The cute genius chick who exists only in the imagination of the scriptwriter turns back to rapidly rearranging the pegs on her Lite-Brite.

A steely eyed Obama looks at the portal and barks out "We have to fill it to keep it open! Send every stupid idea into it!"

"Sir!" the cute girl says, looking away from her Lite-Brite. "Is there enough stupid to delay the collapse?"

"Of course! Attorney General! File suit to let men who want to be women but are actually men but dress in dresses use the women's lavatory in North Carolina!"

"On it sir!" A Weeble waddles away.

"You, National Security advisor - put down that comic book and come here!"

Ben Rhodes slinks over "It's a graphic novel!"

"Of course - graphic novel. You go make some stupid statements to the press, get them wound up investigating themselves for insufficient lick-spittling!"

"That I can do. And I have a vacation planned to North Carolina afterwards."

"It'll take them awhile to run you down in banjo-land, so go do that."

The cute girl yells "Something is coming through!"

"What is it?" Obama asks as aides throw cans of New Coke and bottles of Zima into the portal, to keep the stupid flowing through it.

"I don't know, but it's big!" The cute girl rearranges the pegs on her Lite-Brite, and - placing her hands to her open mouth, she backs away.

"What is it?" comes the demand, but the shock the horror, overwhelms her, all she can think about is fleeing.

Obama glances at the picture revealed by the Lite-Brite and then to the portal as a voice echoes from it.

"It's not big, it's yuuuuge."

McVeigh was in fact a creature of the left if anything.

I ruminated on the thread last evening where WF Buckley's scourging of the Birchers w/out demanding the left lay down the communists was discussed.

Defeating the left means we will have to allow odious people back in the tent.

The left is allowed to have La Raza and BLM in their ranks uncommented, I am just about past caring about their mirror images.

Every vote counts.

32 When Carly was screwing around with the media over domain names, I bought ricktempest.com. I was going to buy some other knockoffs, but she couldn't couldn't get any traction. When Cruz became my new pick, I pointed it to tedcruz. Now you can see where it is.

I want to win. I love the fact that any mention of the New York Times, is always as : "the failing New York Times".

Surely we all know by now that the real problem facing America is the fourth estate. We can't continue having a gigantic media industry acting as the exclusive propaganda arm of the far left Democratic party.

I thought with the rise of the everyman media, things would improve, but I should have known better. There are too many trained writers being pumped out by leftist universities, and all they have to do is pickup a keyboard and go to work.

Donald Trump will be mercilessly attacked by the media. I believe he will turn a lot of attention back on them, and while I haven't followed his career, I think he already has a lot of experience dealing with media critics.

I am looking forward to this matchup: Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton and the Leftist Media.

I repeated myself a few times here in the interest of clarity.

I would think and hope that there are not a large percentage of people who think like that. It's one thing to be anti-oppressive government. But what do they believe beyond that? My fear is that it's will-to-power every bit as much as on the other side.

I shun violence and we need to do everything we can to win without it.

39 I know this isn't going to happen, but...

When an executive takes over a company, usually the first order of business is to define with clarity what the vision and goals are, so that all the activity can be focused to achieve that end.

It sure would help if Trump takes the opportunity of the convention to redefine what republicans believe government should be and what the goals are.

I'm not a purist of individualism. I believe there is a strong case for government doing certain things that individuals or corporations would find extremely hard to do. I also believe that the government can finance and coordinate infrastructure that can aid individuals and corporations to become more productive and profitable.

One thing is sure, if everyone was on the same page, it would be a lot easier to get something done.

the one refuge I had was the US military being relatively ethical, sane, and at its heart conservative.

That castle's walls are now crumbling.

God and my ancestors forgive me but if I watch my opponent win using the devil's toolbox at some point winning becomes more important than moral perfection.

The left indulges in the worst aspects of American political life and suffers from such not a wit.

Time to destroy our enemies by whatever means necessary.

The left will happily do so to us.

person. I don't see anyone on the left ever disavow the Weathermen, the
Panthers, the Red Army Faction, FARC, Shining Path etc. et al.

There are two sides; those who believe in ordered liberty and
freedom and those who do not. Fuck this moral equivalency. There isn't.
We are good, they are evil.

Vic, it seems to me that this is standard Democrat election year activities. They are trying to find a distraction, any distraction, to keep people from focusing on important subjects.

In the past you had the War on Women, you had Trayvon Martin. Now you have the War on the Transgender and this case, and whatever else they can throw out there to distract you.

I think the best tactic is to ignore or brush aside these things and concentrate on hitting the real subjects. Of course, I fully expect a lot of people to go haring off after these things because that is their nature.

86 #63 Not only that but his car was full of Nazi pamphlets when he was arrested.

And The Turner Diaries.

I actually read it in the aftermath - interest in the McVeigh case was exceptionally strong here in WNY because he was from here. Wasn't what I was expecting as far as a book that inspired a mass-killer bomber. I almost wanted to laugh at it. It's so way over the top, it reads like a parody. I know it's not-it originated as a series of articles by a real neo-Nazi in a real neo-Nazi newspaper-but much of it reads like the darkest of dark comedies.

I couldn't wait to get it back to the person I had borrowed it from. Having that book in my possession at that time made me feel like I was doing something illegal.

(Shortly after McVeigh was jailed awaiting trial, I lit a cigarette in a bar-still legal then- for an attractive young lady who looked vaguely familiar. After she walked away someone leaned over and said: that's Timothy McVeigh's sister. She had been on the news as a person of interest for a short time.)

111 The rural counties in Oregon suffer under triple scourges: they were very dependent on timber and farming, and the feds have locked up the federal forests and are making it hard through regulation to farm successfully (through water, pollution, etc)
The state years ago gathered up all the county lands, which were controlled by the counties by tto fund the schools, and county works and the sheriff funding, promising to use them for the benefit of the county but better, and Salem has pretty much locked them up for various reasons due to a minority that thinks trees are sacred.

Add to that the problem that all state funding is controlled by three urban areas, Portland, Salem and Eugene (and Corvallis) to the benefit of the lefty voters there, and all the gas tax is not going to the roads but to the Portland choo-choo train that costs more than buying every rider a Ford Focus and free gas and planning giant bridges that are never built , land-use laws and urban boundary laws that make any real industrial development problematical, the South-west counties are dying economically and the sheriff's departement in a couple of them don't do night patrols, to maintain staffing at the jails.

The feds are stopping whatever payments to the counties they can get away with, the Dem legislature is playing Banana Republic games, and there is a deep feeling of disenfranchisement.

The problem with the Supreme Court argument in favor of Trump is that the one thing we can be pretty sure of is that he will never appoint anyone who will threaten the power of the federal government in general or the executive branch in particular. We have also seen that he has little interest in Federalism or the Constitution and is unlikely to factor those into his thinking.

The Supreme Court argument is the most compelling one available in support of voting Trump rather then third party in the primary and it still isn't very compelling.

But I have to agree that with Hildemort there's zero chance of getting good justices.

A couple of years ago my husband and I went to Chicago for a long weekend anniversary trip. We were taking the train thingy from one part of the city to another, when we had to change trains....we stopped to ask a metro cop, or whatever you would call an officer working security for the system, if he could tell us if we were getting on the right line for our destination. We were completely unfamiliar with the system....he looked at us and said, "for thirty dollars I can." Let me tell you, he was dead serious. That ONE thing completely put me off on the city. dumbasses must not be using the right ammo for the job....

remember kids lethality is mass*velocity creating a wound channel and potential cardiovascular shockwave...

for the bst results I suggest at a minimum JHPs and if you have the scratch some nice frangible ammo that gets over mach 1 and has the wound channel on impact to use a blood pool reservoir to blow open the valves of the heart.

Exactly. I'm a ridiculously loyal fan.
Besides, I know what will happen if I switch allegiance. The Jets will go on a multi-year Super Bowl winning streak.

There's no good outcome for a Jets fan.

211 178 The cop chase was yesterday, still waiting to find out if the cop had a good reason (beyond the obvious) to beat on the guy. He seems to be totally compliant, but it's possible he could have had something in his hand or made a threatening move. Attempt at link to video in name.

============
If you dont show your hands when they order to or resist being cuffed, you get beat.

Years ago there was a high speed chase on the freeway of a truck with a camper shell. The guy was a smuggler and was driving over 100 mph. The shell disintegrated and the 20 people in the back were sent flying out all over the freeway. I never saw anything like it. The guy ditched the truck and ran. When the deputies caught up to him he got beat and he deserved it.

223 G'morning, Horde!

So, I wonder how went the meeting between the candidate of "We need to stick a thumb in the eye of The GOPe" (DJT) and the personification of The GOPe (Speaker Paulie Ryno).

My guess? It was fabulous. They're going to make luxurious deals together with the DC establishment and Democrats.

Because nothing could "stick a thumb in the eye of The GOPe" better than that.

And oh my - it appears I'm neighbors with JackStraw and Kari! The Horde never ceases to surprise and amaze this old Doc.

225 Concerning Zimmerman...

I believe he's been remarkably withdrawn and quiet. If that happened to me, I would have a tv show by now teaching self defense.

And, at the end of each show, I would say: "Now, if that doesn't work, pull out your gun and shoot the punk".

Zimmerman was just a guy who got attacked by a wanna-be thug and defended himself. For that crime, he had to spend a million dollars to defend himself in court, he has people try to shoot him in his car, people still slander him all the time.

Selling the gun? He should have made this a festival, selling tickets, rides for the kiddies and elephant ears with cinnamon sugar. Auction it off at the end of the day.

Fuck the SJW assholes. Why isn't Ruger selling the "Zimmerman 9mm"? Why isn't Zimmerman doing American Express commercials - "Just like your gun, don't leave home without it!".

sorry, should've made clear that that was meant more as a kind of metaphysical assessment, a self-actualization, a drop-razor-in-foamy-sink-and-take-a-good-long-look epiphany moment.

I mean, I'm not backing down from the statement--I just realize that it sounded more unaware than intended.

227 U.S. Border Patrol officials are opening up the Texas border to let 4,000 Cubans in, taking about an hour to interview them and check their criminal background, before letting them enter the United States on their own where most will stay for life.

Aware that Panama had airlifted nearly 250 of 4,000 Cubans to the Mexican border near El Paso, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency said it stands ready to process the new immigrants with speed, in fact faster it takes many Americans to get a drivers license or buy a gun.

Haha. There were stories a couple years back about how "rogue turkeys" were terrorizing some of the special snowflakes in my town. The police had to "round up the ringleaders" before the "rogue turkey" terror was eventually solved. Too funny, really.

Tons of turkeys and geese in these parts, both at my office in RI and my home in MA.

And none of them are good eating. Unfortunately.
