I have never found caffeine to be that sort of a "drug". I drink coffee right before I go to sleep and I can go without coffee without any thought. And I have a very addictive/habituating personality.
I file all the caffeine talk along with the claims about "sugar rushes" and the mythical "runner's high".

I'm taking 5 mg of citalopram, an anti-anxiety med for
hyperventilation syndrome, and as a nice side benefit I'm sleeping much
easier. Slows down my breathing.
Other tips:
- Never sleep between 11am -- 11pm.

So if I choose Not to vote in November, that would only affect the outcome of the election if both these things were true: 1) Wisconsin votes would have to be a dead even tie, and 2) Wisconsin would have to be the state whose electoral votes were needed to put Trump over the needed total.
Is that right? It would have to be a tie, and Wisconsin would have to be the deciding state. In that case, casting my vote for Trump would be essential.
What are the chances of those two things occurring? If they have a realistic chance of occurring, my vote for Trump would be decisive. If those two things did Not occur, I would not be responsible for putting Hillary in the White House.

I have seen many posts trying to pressure/bully? non-Trump supporters into falling in line to block Clinton. It's something Trump would do, so it makes sense.
What I am trying to get at is that he has proven to be just as offensive to some of us as she is, and trust me, she is horrendous, I know this. I'm sorry if I can't trust his word on things like immigration, abortion, guns, etc. when he supported liberals and spouted liberal opinions for many years (like 50). He could have just as easily run as a Democrat, perhaps more so, since his record of throwing money at Dems is long. He makes it even harder to support him when he uses bullying tactics and insults to make his inane news bites.
Can he change enough to convince people like me that he is worth our votes? I haven't seen any clue that he even cares to try.

Medium-case scenario, they somehow work via the placebo effect -- but hey, if you're sleeping, that counts as working.
Best-case scenario, they actually do something chemically that helps ease insomnia.
My vote is with the last option. Online research of a zillion anecdotal accounts backs up their efficacy.
Also, they're very inexpensive, so there's little risk.
And you don't have to worry and all the countless short-term and long-term side effects of sedatives or psych drugs. Yuck to those!

Fair enough and that's what I am getting at. A lot of this Woe is about predictions of things that have not happened and are unknowable at this point. Trump has proven very difficult to predict.
He has also proven that he acts to correct himself when his base gets angry - like when he made the abortion comment and the NC law comment - he went back and fixed them. So he does respond to his base, and as long as his base wants those 'good' things there is a good chance he will deliver.
I think we all agree he has the balls and the will to get shit done, its just a debate of 'what' will he get done and will we like it.

Well, see, I've been pleasantly surprised all along that my guy Cruz has gotten as far as he has. Because I always figured he wasn't quite "ripe" to run for president yet. I figured he was young yet and would come into popularity later, at a time more propitious for him, when people were ready to get back to basic truths.
So that amazed me, right there. I think others should take heart in that, too.
These religious shenanigans have NOT helped him, and have given me pause, even as a religious person. (And I don't brook anyone telling me I'm not religious, anymore than I brook anyone insisting I'm stupid.) Beck has done incalculable damage (much more so than the father, who everyone knows Cruz is basically stuck with).
Neverguveup is right - what drives many of us to vote for Trump in future is how much we don't want Hillary.
I'm not too swayed by doom and despair about how we're going to be ruined, etc., having just lived through 8 years of godawful Obamanation. Just about anything has to be an improvement over him. OR Hillary.

I was just listing all the good things he has promised to do or that his supporters expect him to do. They are all constitutional IF congress cooperates, which they probably won't. If they don't what then? Does Trump defer to the constitution and refrain from unconstitutional methods to achieve a laudable goal, or does he "pragmatically" use Obama's precedent and rule by fiat as much as he can? I rather suspect it will be the latter and if so even if conservatives get everything they ever wanted from Trump in the end we will still lose.
The appeal of Cruz was never that he would go and clean out Washington, but that by virtue of being a principled constitutionalist he would refrain from making the problem worse, maybe even reestablish separation of powers a bit.

Oh, I'd prefer Trump for sure, but I suspect that in the long run it won't make much of a difference. Trump may not be a full-blown tyrant himself, but he will create additional precedents in the wrong direction, because it is not in his nature to do otherwise, nor do his supporters desire it...

I have the same problem. Tried the melotonin..meh. I've settled on the cheap over the counter sleep aid that is basically diphenhydramine. I take them for about 5 days in a row, and then lay off a bit. At least I get multiple days of sleep before I have to break the cycle.

There are better choices than sitting out. In my case, I won't vote for Trump (possible exception: if he manages to get elected and does a fine job making America great again, I'll consider voting for him in 2020). I can't stomach the thought of voting for HClin. So that leaves Gary Johnson on the Libertarian ticket, or writing in Rick Perry. Two fine choices, so why the depression over voting?
Cheer up people. It's just the Presidency. We've suffered eight years of the worst Presidency I could ever have imagined. Hard to believe HClin or DT would be worse. As Adam Smith said, there is a great deal of ruin in a nation.

I was talking about it being silly to hate a Moron/Ette over their personal views on a presidential candidate they have no personal ability to choose.
I don't know where you want to go with your questions, but your latest comment is asking about governments instead of specific presidential candidates.
On one hand, we are collectively responsible for the government we have ... On the other hand, I sure as heck did not choose this. I didn't select the presidents who selected the judges or the congress who created the bureaucracies. Wasn't even born when these things were set into motion.
So I don't see why I should hold a personal grudge based on opinions with no meaningful action behind them.
Anyone with the ability to actually be responsible for the current state of things isn't goofing around murdering Hobos and swigging Valurite on a smart military blog.
