End Game? FoxNews Calls Indiana For Trump

Open primaries, yo-- catch the fever.

Decision Desk will have the results early, most likely.

I'm knocking off. Insomnia again. And I'm trying to reduce caffeine intake to not get insomnia tonight. (Try reducing caffeine when you didn't sleep well -- not terrific! Really not good! In all fairness, I must say -- it's terrible!)

I assume that in a short period of time, some of us will be happy, and some of us will be very resigned and not terrific at all.

Sad! Megyn Kelly is a common whore!

Yeah I'm Out:

Well, a lot of the party has chosen a go it alone, we don't need you anyway strategy.

Good luck!

I have never found caffeine to be that sort of a "drug". I drink coffee right before I go to sleep and I can go without coffee without any thought. And I have a very addictive/habituating personality.

I file all the caffeine talk along with the claims about "sugar rushes" and the mythical "runner's high".

Cruz may agree with them politically, but they are so desperate for a reprieve from the left that they went with Trump seeing him as a big enough bully to bully the left on their behalf instead of the True Conservative (TM) Ted Cruz. Either that of the Scott Adams persuasion thing.

(b) Striking a collaborative "deal" with the completely untrustworthy John Kasich, upon which Kasich contemptuously reneged within 72 hours,

and, the masterstroke of masterstrokes,

(c) Announcing Carly Fiasco-RINO, the layoff queen, as his VP candidate, at a time when economic and job uncertainty is absolutely rife in the electorate.

What could possibly have gone wrong? The plan was sheer genius!

302 I'm trying to do the math here. Don't laugh at me.

So if I choose Not to vote in November, that would only affect the outcome of the election if both these things were true: 1) Wisconsin votes would have to be a dead even tie, and 2) Wisconsin would have to be the state whose electoral votes were needed to put Trump over the needed total.

Is that right? It would have to be a tie, and Wisconsin would have to be the deciding state. In that case, casting my vote for Trump would be essential.

What are the chances of those two things occurring? If they have a realistic chance of occurring, my vote for Trump would be decisive. If those two things did Not occur, I would not be responsible for putting Hillary in the White House.

Posted by: grammie winger at May 03, 2016 07:46 PM (dFi94)

303 It's not defeatism, it's simple reality.

Electoral math was already against the GOP. The GOP would have a hard time winning without broadening the current coalition. That was always going to be Cruz's main problem, he wouldn't broaden the coalition.

Trump NARROWS the coalition. He burns every single fucking group in order to double down on non-college educated white males. Independents? Gone. College educated whites? Gone. White women? Gone. Hispanics? Going to vote as heavily Dem as blacks do.

I have seen many posts trying to pressure/bully? non-Trump supporters into falling in line to block Clinton. It's something Trump would do, so it makes sense.

What I am trying to get at is that he has proven to be just as offensive to some of us as she is, and trust me, she is horrendous, I know this. I'm sorry if I can't trust his word on things like immigration, abortion, guns, etc. when he supported liberals and spouted liberal opinions for many years (like 50). He could have just as easily run as a Democrat, perhaps more so, since his record of throwing money at Dems is long. He makes it even harder to support him when he uses bullying tactics and insults to make his inane news bites.

Can he change enough to convince people like me that he is worth our votes? I haven't seen any clue that he even cares to try.

No. Because what the country needs, most of all, is not a border wall, not an improved economy, not new judges, not to destroy the uniparty, but a leader who will throw away his chance to do these things because it is not constitutional for him to do so by fiat. Our country is in dire straits, but the killing blow will be the establishment of a single ruler. We are perilously close to that now

411 It's going to be quite entertaining to watch Trump as he realizes that the media have two modes in an election year: pre-GOP nomination and post-GOP nomination.

In 2008, the media treated McCain with adoring kid gloves. Why, he was a tough _maverick_, don't you know? Up until he was nominated. Then he suddenly became an out of touch old fogey, liable to die in office from cancer, with uncontrollable psychotic anger issues from his POW years.

In 2012, the media stayed away from any criticism of Mitt Romney in the primaries. Fawning profiles of "the man who saved the Olympics". Up until he was nominated. Then Romney became a icily cold corporate gangster who killed Joe Soptic's wife, and poured the ill-gotten gains into accounts in the Caymans after not paying taxes on them.

Trump is coming right up to that cusp, and he's visibly expecting that the media will continue to treat him after the nomination the same way that they did before the nomination, and of course the media are not going to do ANY SUCH THING. They'll turn on him in microseconds just as they did to McCain and to Romney.

429 Ace, in case you're reading this, here is an actual game-changing non-pharmaceutical way to conquer insomnia:

Combine these two supplements:

Inositol
5-HTP

I know someone who had terrible insomnia, and started taking these two, and they worked almost miraculously.

5-HTP is an amino acid that is a precursor to melatonin and seratonin, so it primes your body to manufacture its own sleep-inducing agents naturally.

Inositol is a B-vitamin that the body is supposed to make itself, but doesn't always do so, and when taken in pill form actually outperforms SSRIs in anxiety-reduction in double-blind studies.

At a minimum, both Isositol and 5-HTP are known to be completely harmless and have zero side effects.

Medium-case scenario, they somehow work via the placebo effect -- but hey, if you're sleeping, that counts as working.

Best-case scenario, they actually do something chemically that helps ease insomnia.

My vote is with the last option. Online research of a zillion anecdotal accounts backs up their efficacy.

Also, they're very inexpensive, so there's little risk.

And you don't have to worry and all the countless short-term and long-term side effects of sedatives or psych drugs. Yuck to those!

He's always sounded like the best guy to be President at this time in our history, I'm just confused why anyone wouldn't have back such a pro-America guy from the get-go.

Then again, what the fuck do I know?

He's a low info jackwagon, he's a jerk and a womanizer. He's unworthy of the office, but so was Clinton and Obama, and they are also hard left radical nutjars. Trump isn't this ghastly cthlhuian horror.

Yep.

Best-known example is that taking steroids and actual testosterone makes your balls shrink to marble-size, since they are no longer "needed" to make those hormones. But if you take "precursors" known to stimulate your body to make more of its own testosterone, then your balls stay normal size, or perhaps even to grow to grapefruit size, impressing the ladies as you smack them around in your T-fueled rage. Fair enough and that's what I am getting at. A lot of this Woe is about predictions of things that have not happened and are unknowable at this point. Trump has proven very difficult to predict.

He has also proven that he acts to correct himself when his base gets angry - like when he made the abortion comment and the NC law comment - he went back and fixed them. So he does respond to his base, and as long as his base wants those 'good' things there is a good chance he will deliver.

I think we all agree he has the balls and the will to get shit done, its just a debate of 'what' will he get done and will we like it.

597 (again, having read only half the comments)

Well, see, I've been pleasantly surprised all along that my guy Cruz has gotten as far as he has. Because I always figured he wasn't quite "ripe" to run for president yet. I figured he was young yet and would come into popularity later, at a time more propitious for him, when people were ready to get back to basic truths.

So that amazed me, right there. I think others should take heart in that, too.

These religious shenanigans have NOT helped him, and have given me pause, even as a religious person. (And I don't brook anyone telling me I'm not religious, anymore than I brook anyone insisting I'm stupid.) Beck has done incalculable damage (much more so than the father, who everyone knows Cruz is basically stuck with).

Neverguveup is right - what drives many of us to vote for Trump in future is how much we don't want Hillary.

I'm not too swayed by doom and despair about how we're going to be ruined, etc., having just lived through 8 years of godawful Obamanation. Just about anything has to be an improvement over him. OR Hillary.

I would for sure like to see Cruz on Supreme Court someday, even more than I would have liked him as president.

Cruz said, "I'm going to do something I haven't done for the entire campaign. For those of you who have traveled with me all across the country. I'm going to tell you what I really think of Donald Trump. This man is a pathological liar. He doesn't know the difference between truth and lies. He lies practically every word that comes out of his mouth. And in a pattern that I think is straight out of a psychology textbook, his response is to accuse everybody else of lying. He accuses everybody on that debate stage of lying. And it's simply a mindless yell. Whatever he does, he accuses everyone else of doing. The man cannot tell the truth, but he combines it with being a narcissist. A narcissist at a level I don't think this country has ever seen. Donald Trump is such a narcissist that Barack Obama looks at him and goes, 'dude, what's your problem?' Everything in Donald's world is about Donald. And he combines being a pathological liar, and I say pathological because I actually think Donald, if you hooked him up to a lie detector test, he could say one thing in the morning, one thing at noon and one thing in the evening, all contradictory and he's pass the lie detector test each time. Whatever lie he's telling, at that minute he believes it. But the man is utterly amoral."

He continued, "The man is utterly amoral. Morality does not exist for him. It's why he went after Heidi directly and smeared my wife, attacked her. Apparently she's not pretty enough for Donald Trump. I may be biased, but I think if he's making that allegation, he's also legally blind. But Donald is a bully. You know, we just visited with fifth graders. every one of us knew bullies in elementary school. Bullies don't come from strength, bullies come from weakness. bullies come from a deep, yawning cavern of insecurity. There is a reason Donald builds giant builds and puts his name on them everywhere he goes."

628 The Navy SEAL killed in Iraq on Tuesday was identified as Charlie Keating IV, a former Phoenix high school star distance runner and the grandson of the late Arizona financier involved in the 1980s savings and loan scandal.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced Keating died in an Islamic State group attack near the city of Irbil.

Hes the third American serviceman to die in combat in Iraq since the U.S.-led coalition launched its campaign against the Islamic State in the summer of 2014, according to military officials.

Ducey ordered all state flags be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Wednesday in honor of Keating, who also was the cousin of former Olympic swimming champion Gary Hall Jr.

Keatings grandfather, Charles H. Keating Jr., who died in 2014 at age 90, was the notorious financier who served prison time for his role in the costliest savings and loan failure of the 1980s

Charlie Keating, 31, attended the Naval Academy before becoming a Navy SEAL based out of Coronado, Calif.

A 2004 graduate of Phoenixs Arcadia High School, Keating was city and region champion in the 1,600-meter run as a sophomore, junior and senior.

He earned all-city and first-team all-state honors as a senior, according to Indiana University, where he ran in college.

633 @542 You don't. This is the mass media culture. It's been a mixed bag since Gutenburg, a lot of great ideas were proliferated, but we're in the endgame now and reality TV is the inevitable heat death of culture. It's not getting better anywhere, it only gets worse. The people will never again be smart enough to rule themselves, and most of them don't really want to or don't really care. The leftie kids with their socialism and safe spaces or the hillbilles popping opiates and living on disability fraud, neither one has the ability nor the inclination to manage their own lives, let alone the world. Find some way to sidle up to the ruling class, ride it out, and then be thankful that you won't be around to see the last light flicker and die.

No. Because what the country needs, most of all, is not a border wall, not an improved economy, not new judges, not to destroy the uniparty, but a leader who will throw away his chance to do these things because it is not constitutional for him to do so by fiat. 739 I understand your sentiment, but those things are constitutional,
particularly the Supreme court nomination thing. But I understand where
you are coming from and getting at.

I was just listing all the good things he has promised to do or that his supporters expect him to do. They are all constitutional IF congress cooperates, which they probably won't. If they don't what then? Does Trump defer to the constitution and refrain from unconstitutional methods to achieve a laudable goal, or does he "pragmatically" use Obama's precedent and rule by fiat as much as he can? I rather suspect it will be the latter and if so even if conservatives get everything they ever wanted from Trump in the end we will still lose.

The appeal of Cruz was never that he would go and clean out Washington, but that by virtue of being a principled constitutionalist he would refrain from making the problem worse, maybe even reestablish separation of powers a bit.

Frodo took the Ring because the strong and the wise could not trust themselves not to use the Ring for good, and become evil themselves while in the process of destroying other evil. I fear we just handed the ring over to Boromir with our blessing to use it to destroy Sauron without asking what is going to going to happen afterwards....

Personally, framing it as you just did - I would prefer King Trump over Queen Clinton. Wouldn't you?

Oh, I'd prefer Trump for sure, but I suspect that in the long run it won't make much of a difference. Trump may not be a full-blown tyrant himself, but he will create additional precedents in the wrong direction, because it is not in his nature to do otherwise, nor do his supporters desire it...

How would you know? What are you basing that claim on? Have you lived under Fascism?

750 You think Trump is "the one"?

No. I think he's out of his damn mind.

As are you. The fight just doesn't give a damn about your rules.

751 That does it. I am done with the Republican party. Once again we have gone with another old white guy. This time one that is totally unqualified for the post. The party choosing him over more qualified hispanics, blacks and women as put the lie to diversity in the party. Apparently, all you really need to be an old white guy and can insult everyone else. All that matters is white males and the party doesn't need anyone else. I can no longer be part of a party that will have Donald Trump as its standard bearer. I will not join nor vote for the Democrats but I will be looking for a different party that will follow principles. I always pushed the Republicans as a true party of logic and true diversity. Now I know that is not really true.

752 Off Spider Sock. Left over from another thread.

Mimzey ... you're arguing. I think the arguing is just about over.

Time to start picking.

753 Your personal day to day life is actually determined by the president of the federal government?

And you don't think Obama has already ruined the country?

Odd judgement, you have.

I'm sorry...but that is another strawman. I never stated eithe of those things.
That being said, are you claiming that the government DOESN'T change your life and the things you can do..the restrictions they implement, the fees and taxes they charge you, the values they DEMAND you adhere to in order to keep those wolves at bay, DON'T have a determining effect on your life and the choices you make? If that is not what you meant...what was the context of your understanding of what I posted?

ScoggDog...maybe you're denying. Stating a fact is not "arguing".Just pointing that out.

I have no "rules". Objective reality is simply my guide. If you think he is out of his mind..I assume you are firmly against having him as the nominee? Who would your preferred nominee be? Just curious.

756 I've been resigned to this for the last two weeks, and certainly the last 2 days, so que sera sera. The upside, I guess, would be the schadenfreude of watching Trump move hard to the middle, followed by his humiliating landslide defeat to the first bad face female president.

Now how do we get Reince Priebus demoted to usher at a movie theater?

Posted by: reform highlander at May 03, 2016 09:35 PM (xf3KI)

757 It's not really so bad. I already had utter contempt for the electorate in 2008 and especially 2012. It's just that more obvious that we deserve our fate.

758 Well this will be the first election in my life that I will be sitting out.

I will not vote for Donald Trump.

But you Trumpsters don't need my vote anyway.........right?

Posted by: Talon at May 03, 2016 11:20 PM (sNHB4)

759 Don't sit out the election. Write in who you want to win. That's what I'm gonna do, but I'm in a state that doesn't matter which is why I get that choice to write someone in (like a lot of the NY/DC never trumpers). If I were in a state that mattered, I'd probably vote Trump and puke immediately after. And then cry. And then get a burrito to feel better. Clinton SC choices are just too disgusting to imagine.

760 If Trump makes a good VP pick, I'll vote for him. Of course with the hope he is impeached within the first year of his term.

There are better choices than sitting out. In my case, I won't vote for Trump (possible exception: if he manages to get elected and does a fine job making America great again, I'll consider voting for him in 2020). I can't stomach the thought of voting for HClin. So that leaves Gary Johnson on the Libertarian ticket, or writing in Rick Perry. Two fine choices, so why the depression over voting?

Cheer up people. It's just the Presidency. We've suffered eight years of the worst Presidency I could ever have imagined. Hard to believe HClin or DT would be worse. As Adam Smith said, there is a great deal of ruin in a nation.

I didn't say you said those things. That's why those were questions.

I was talking about it being silly to hate a Moron/Ette over their personal views on a presidential candidate they have no personal ability to choose.

I don't know where you want to go with your questions, but your latest comment is asking about governments instead of specific presidential candidates.

On one hand, we are collectively responsible for the government we have ... On the other hand, I sure as heck did not choose this. I didn't select the presidents who selected the judges or the congress who created the bureaucracies. Wasn't even born when these things were set into motion.

So I don't see why I should hold a personal grudge based on opinions with no meaningful action behind them.

Anyone with the ability to actually be responsible for the current state of things isn't goofing around murdering Hobos and swigging Valurite on a smart military blog.
