I'm at the point where I think a Harvard degree should be an outright disqualifier for public office. Hell, throw in the rest of the Ivy League as well. Most of the students are the sons and daughters of privilege who are told that they are the best and brightest, and are being groomed to take their "rightful" place in the power structure.
At this point I'd rather vote for people who went to community college or vo-tech school. They have less Marxist indoctrination and are more likely to have a toehold in the real world.

I genuinely hopes she succeeds. Really nice young woman, really smart and was not afraid of hard work (whether as an athlete or in class). She and my son still text each other occasionally.

One of the things that makes me angriest about Obama is the lack of control of the Mexican border, and the immense amount of cheap heroin that has gotten into the country because of that.
I know two people that have lost their kids to heroin overdoses. I have friends that know a lot of others. There is an epidemic of heroin addiction in a lot of places now that had little heroin abuse 10 years ago. And now it's a lot of white suburban kids using. And dying.
The difference is the cheap heroin and the cartels bringing it in and distributing it. Over the Mexican border. Barry could care less.

I'm not really sure. From what I gather, she does fine with all the homework problem sets, and she's getting an A in lab, but she says the tests are nothing like what they do in class. I think part of the problem is that the university has the same exam for all sections of that course, regardless of the professor. I think the REAL problem is that my girl is at a mathy/sciency school and she's finding out she's not really a mathy/sciency person as much as she thought she was.

Its been that way for schedule II drugs for years. It's only been in past year for Vicodin since it was just recently made a schedule II. The doctor can still write a triplicate script if they want ( most don't now because of the scrunity).

Yes, well, she's had enough Chemistry books. She had the last exam before the final last Friday and she got the grade today - not good. So, she's dropping the class tomorrow (her school allows her to do that until classes end; amazing). It's been a tough year. On the bright side, at least she won't have to take that final and can concentrate more on her other courses. Still is sad, though.

The true opiates (not Percocet or Vicodin) actually have a fit into nerve receptors. I also think that some people are genetically more vulnerable to addiction.
I don't like Percocet, Vicodin, Oxycodone. When I once had a kidney stone attack and was at the hospital, I did get an injection of Dilaudid, and that felt marvelous. I could see how you could get addicted to that. When I got the injection, it felt like warm gold flowing up my arm into my body.

Their shirts, even though they are the smallest sizes, fit more like dresses, and they have to stuff them into baggy too-big baseball pants. You can't tell which kid is yours in the field until they turn around and you can see their number, since their faces are all obscured. And then you get the kid who runs the bases wrong way round. It was a blast.

I had a Physics professor who was horrible and a assigned textbook that was worse. I ended up learning exclusively from a 35 year old textbook.

I've taken it more than most over the years. Started when I was seventeen with my first kidney stone. Back then, yeah, it gave me a buzz. Now, if I take it, I just get dry mouth and insomnia. After back surgery and a prolonged usage, I'm in no hurry to take it again. Coming off of it was pretty rough. I ran a fever for a couple of days, got the sweats and chills, liquified my guts. It wasn't pretty.

Nice! I would encourage her to suck it up and do the Chem class over the summer. If it's only one semester she can do it solo and devote her full time and effort to it. Quitting and changing majors seems like a compromise.
Besides its not like it's gonna get easier, and she'll have a lot more confidence when she overcomes her hardship.

Yes, I had several long-time friends and my relationships with them were severely strained after 2008. After 2012 I cut them out of my life. I haven't spoken to them since and don't intend to.

Parents in Mexico send their four year old girl with a smuggler into Houston. He rear ends another car, and leaves her in the car with severe injuries including a skull fracture
Police locate him and arrest him. He says his instructions were to drop her off at a grocery store parking lot, but he has no names of who to give her to. Just drop her at a parking lot
