This, and also, can be crappier during crisis coverage. The Fox coverage immediately following the Belgium bombings was awful. They were talking, talking, talking without identifying basic facts, like *where* the bombs went off (just kept repeating "multiple bombs in Belgium). Meanwhile, CNN was on top of it with the details.

29 Well, maybe Trump has succeeded in moving CNN "right."
Or Fox "left." Or something.

Posted by: JoeF. at May 02, 2016 04:46 PM (rmyPY)

30 And while I dislike Trump, he is somehow fascinating to watch. So I get that.

CNN maybe attempting to tack a bit "right" for this election to keep those Trump ratings going, or it may be a longer strategy.

TV viewers are getting older, and older. Old people get more conservative. Some of these shows have average age of 50+.

Posted by: Harun at May 02, 2016 04:46 PM (UBBWX)

31 They shouldn't get too excited. Part of their gain has no doubt been attributable to FNC's losses. Even CNN, at times, appears more "fair and balanced" and that ain't good for Fox.

However, they have added some really terrific shows as of late. The new 'United Shades of America', particularly the first episode, was spellbinding. And the only fault I could find with their 'Race to the White House' series is that the episodes were too short. They could easily have gone another hour with the Lincoln/Douglas epi and I wouldn't have batted an eye.

We're meant to take away that Huma is like the Anne Hathaway character in The Devil Wears Prada, the perfect alter ego assistant, but even more of a "Black Belt" level enabler. We're told that everyone in the know knows that to reach Hillary you have to get through Huma first. These days, Bill doesn't always make the cut: "She's taking a nap." Concerns over her ties to the Muslim Brotherhood are dismissed as "risible."

Huma should be a central figure in the FBI investigation. She simultaneously drew checks from State, the Foundation and Bill, which suggests she was the point on co-ordinating pay for play. She probably did some or all of the retransmission of secure e-mails from the government system to Hillary's home brew server.

So what's in the 50,000 e-mails that Hillary said she wiped clean, but Comey and the FBI have presumably recovered?

Special Report - Nightly

How about connect the dots with Frank Giustra, the friend of Bill behind the uranium sale, who's a front hiding the names of 1,000 donors to the Chelsea Legacy Foundation?

How about an expose on what Benhgazi was really about, a black ops to deliver Libyan arms to proto-ISIS?

In the context of that interview, Cruz is making the case that our 2A rights are suspect under a president Trump, and that's because he has said "I hate guns". (IIRC, hate lack of transcripts for this sort of thing)

If I have the right source, Trump said "I hate the concept of guns."
http://www.factcheck.org/2016/03/tv-ad-distorts-trumps-gun-position/

He then uses that as the springboard to bring up the liberal case for gun control ... and eviscerates it as unworkable, and concluding guns need to be accessible to the good guys.

"You know what, if everybody would just give it up, the bad ones, the good ones and everybody in the middle, no guns, I love it - but it's not going to happen. The good ones, you go into a licensing - the good ones are going to - are they going to do everything by the book? They get rid of the guns. So now the good folks are sitting out there with no protection, and the bad guys have the guns. I don't like that. So I am in favor of the ability to have a gun."

I find it hilarious that people are deemed "dishonest", because they dont buy into Trumps current, self-serving positions on all the issues he has flip-flopped on.

It's dishonest to quote the "I hate guns" sentence from that interview as evidence that Trump wants to ban guns.

The correct evidence to use, if any, is the past support of an assaults weapons ban that you just cited.

But that's superceded by the recent words, and can reasonably be explained as a change in mindset over time, rather than a lying flip-flop to get past the primary season.

Of course Trump is anti second amendment. He's been consistent on the topic all his adult life, up until this election that is. Read his tweets in the sidebar. Read his Reform Party-era interviews.

He's also pro-Single Payer health insurance, and he wants to cover any procedure people want (right up to partial birth homicides). He will abandon our allies, befriend Russia and our enemies, take away our guns and expand the surveillance state. These are all policies Trump has spoken in favor of at some point in the past (or present!).

Be as thoughtful as you want to be, but you're about to elect a Democrat as GOP standard bearer, and-- soon -- he will make us all regret it.

330 Facism has always been a big hit for those who imagine they're learning something important and somehow participating in democracy by watching talking heads read prepared and fully vetted versions of preselected "news" events.

CNN's numbers are up, and Scar and the Meat Puppet's too, because Trumpees don't trust Fox this cycle. They think that by 'voting' against Fox they're participating in something revolting - which is, in fairness, true.

None of what you typed there has any bearing with the very specific point I made - Cruz made a dishonest statement about Trump.

You do not dispute the facts, instead referring to uncited examples of tweets proving that Trump is anti-gun. None of that changes the dishonesty of using that quote against Trump. Did I get the wrong interview? Yet no one is correcting me.

I take that as a concession that it was a lie. I am starting to see why "Lyin' Ted" is sticking. He says lots of things that sound great to conservatives ... but he makes these kind of statements which are dishonest and turn people off.
