Go to the University of Missouri, Where Your Child Can Bathe in the Limpid Waters of White Supremacy

Mizzou's new head -- the one who replaced the guy the social justice warriors demand resign -- says, seemingly of his own university that "white supremacy... has permeated our culture" and compares the racial situation at Mizzou to what he experienced in the 1960s.

Oh, and then the university released a series of videos explaining white people's white supremacism to them.

The faculty committee on race relations put out the videos. One of the members explained: "White people tend to see racism in terms of lynching, physical abuse, bullying and other products of hate. Racism is more than the overt, blatant, extreme incidents."

And now you can view Mizzou's handy guide to What a Racist Your Child Is.

Plus -- there's still that one-in-five-will-be-raped thing!

So you know: Definitely send your kid there.

The University of Missouri

It's a hotbed of black radials and white Nazis beating each other.

Plus, the newest stationary bikes at the Rec!

Does anyone really believe that the University of Missouri, where the white kids are being berated on their way to class, is a hotbed of neo-naziism?

Let me quote one of the greatest philosophers of our generation who might shed light on what's going on here.

Here's "Billy" from St. Elmo's Fire:

Jules, y'know, honey... this isn't real. You know what it is? It's St. Elmo's Fire. Electric flashes of light that appear in dark skies out of nowhere.

(creates stream of fire by spraying perfume bottle through a flame)

Sailors would guide entire journeys by it, but the joke was on them... There was no fire. There wasn't even a St. Elmo. They made it up. They made it up because they thought they needed it to keep them going when times got tough, just like you're making up all of this. We're all going through this. It's our time at the edge.

You tell her, Billy. You help Jules get her head on straight and get her out of that dirty foreigner gangbang party.

It's our time at the edge now.

50 Sometimes it takes a lawsuit:

Professor John McAdams and the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) announced Monday that a lawsuit has been filed in Milwaukee County Circuit Court against Marquette University for breach of contract. McAdams was suspended and banned from campus in December 2014 after he wrote a blog post that criticized another instructor for telling a student that his views on same-sex marriage were not appropriate for classroom discussion.

Srsly, how does Mizzou ever come back from this? What was the last non-athletic news the country heard about Mizzou before l'affaire Click? Zip, right? So how can they undo the rotten impression that that left about the university? It's hard to think of what they could do affirmatively to mitigate the problem, and just letting it die down and hope people forget about it will condemn them to the doldrums for a generation.

Also, at this juncture, any student who has any other options will go elsewhere, so the quality of their entrants is definitely on a down bubble. A serious down bubble.

89 "So Little VIA says he is going to talk to the Navy Recruiter after school today."

Talk him out of it. Fast. Forcefully. Joining the services used to be one of the best decisions a youngster could make. Now it's one of the worst.

This goes double for the Navy, which has terrible and growing shortfalls in capability, with a mission requirement that is expanding by the day, and which is running both its machinery and its morale into dust as a result.

And that's _without_ an actual shooting war going on. With any of the several countries who are designing advanced new weapons specifically meant to kill USN platforms.

Tell the kid to go to civvy electricians' trade school or something similar.

And, really, if the kid likes big gray floaty things, or little gray flying things, there's an option there to go be involved with those anyway, as a much better paid civilian technical contractor.

Because Big Navy have internally deskilled their force to the point where they're now absolutely addicted to having said civilians maintain their systems for them. The likes of the F-35 Faceplant and the Little Crappy Ship are always accompanied by hordes of contractor employees in coveralls and suits, not in uniforms.

165 So, also, on the subject of "In The Navy" (cue the Village People song, more relevant to the newly diversified Gay-vy now than ever):

Over the weekend, while the HQ was preoccupied with sports, games, food, and pets, the rest of the world didn't slow down.

The People's Republic of China military announced a new series of small advanced mobile modular nuclear reactors. What will be the initial deployed use of these units?

They're going to the artificial "islands" which the PRC military are constructing all over the South China Sea, as part of bolstering their presence there, which is meant to underpin China's _extremely_ expansive claims to sovereignty over that body of water, and the huge deposits of oil and gas it contains.

If you want an idea of just how expansive, China is essentially asserting that the entirety of the South China Sea is in effect AN INLAND WATERWAY of China proper.

So the Chinese are saying that they're going to be using their potent portable new nuclear reactor modules for things like desalination of water on their freshly created islands. Peaceful use. Stress "peaceful". Did you get that the intended use is peaceful? Because it is. Very peaceful indeed.

However, there are certain other uses for such small yet powerful sources of energy. Chief among which is powering huge radar arrays (already being installed on the islands) with very fine grained resolution. A gull won't take wing in the Sea without showing up on the PRC's displays.

And, if any of you stuck up a hand with the intention of saying, "Gosh, teach, couldn't you use such a reactor to also power tactical directed energy weapons, to do things like shoot down aircraft which the radars pick up?", well, you get a gold star and you're excused from tomorrow's pop quiz.

I suspect they won't release the HLS transcripts simply because it would create a camel's nose situation involving earlier transcripts and tests which are probably not anything like as flattering.

Really, can anyone imagine the _historic first African-American head of the law review_ at HLS being given anything other than top marks across the board, even without bothering to shoulder the courseload? Is it plausible that Tribe gave his "brilliant" black student any Bs?

(And with regard to Obama on the law review, see the contemporaneous accounts from Carol Platt Liebau, a classmate who worked the HLR at that time, who said he barely even showed up in the Review's office spaces in person.)

262 You're presupposing Mizzou had a decent reputation to begin with.
They had low in state tuition and rules that basically meant state residents couldn't be declined admission. That's been their bag since I looked there and it will continue to be it, especially at the undergrad level.
The Vet and Ag schools will still be decent I suppose. (The med school has never been more than mediocre.)

I don't think that's true. When he was a 2L going into his 3L year, he was reported to have a decent shot at graduating summa cum laude, which happens about once a decade. In the end, he didn't make the grades his 3L year (remember, he was busy scoring his first autobiography contract and being President of the Law Review). But because the GPA at the end of 2L year is equally weighted between 1L and 2L grades, that means he would have to have had very good grades his 1L year, when exams are graded blind. Now, possibly he started every exam answer with "When my Kenyan father and American mother . . . ." to signal who he was, but I think it's more likely that he was just very good at taking law school exams.

"But how many of those leaders with combat experience have a vagina?"

Combat infantry and spec-ops positions have to be opened up to women, even though almost no women can endure and complete the training, much less the real deal, because without combat on their service records, they're at a disadvantage for promotion to higher ranks, even though, as we see here, the system just goes ahead and promotes female officers without such experience anyway.

I've known her for many years. She is a good American.

She hasn't commanded beyond the company level (if the Department of Social Sciences doesn't count), because she has been permanent faculty at West Point for the last 20-ish years. Every Dean in modern history was formerly a department head, and every academic department head in modern history that I can think of was a permanent professor prior to being named a department head. Her husband is a grad, and her son is a grad and a serving Army officer.

324 Can we just lay this "white privilege" crap to rest once and for all.

Yes, Northern European culture had become the dominant world culture several centuries ago. What the current crop of millennials and SJWs don't have and don't understand is a historical base. This resulted from thousands of years of the flow of history and tribes that made a conscious decision to invest in civilizing. Starting with two root sources: the ethical foundation of Judaic culture and the civil and organizational foundation of Greek and Roman culture, what came to be known as "Western Culture" made its path through northern Europe, England, and ultimately here.

If Western Civilization created something that the failures of this planet want to call "white privilege," then let's posit that it wasn't unearned. That culture invested in intention and technology, and then gave out its benefits for free through European colonialism and the missionary movement. Without it, China would still be owned by feudal warlord, India would have long since starved to death while watching prime rib walking around through the village square unmolested, Japan would still be a tiny isolationist group of islands, Africa would still be... well, pretty much what is it, but without cities, television, and modern medicine.

The theories of these SJWs with their pronouncement of "white privilege" are shakier than a Mexican space shuttle.

Imagine... imagine what the world would be like today if Western Civilization had come up with some sort of a "Prime Directive" in about 600 AD, never to have any influence on any other culture on the planet. Imagine if Marco Polo had never sought out China, and if Rome had built a wall to isolate Islam.

How long do you think is would have taken any other culture on Earth to come up with a Voltaire, a Bach, or a microwave oven?

I might be willing to accept that Obama has a skill at test-taking.

But all available evidence indicates that he isn't intellectually agile at all. Much the opposite.

He's a pretty typical, true believer ideologue. He's excellent at memorizing rote responses. That could easily account for his skill at test-taking.

He's really, really, really bad at thinking on his feet, from what I've seen.

Actually, he's really, really bad at thinking at all, as thinking is normally understood.

Absolutely, yes, she's a good pick. Deans over the years have ranged from very academic to very political. It is a final job -- no Dean has ever gone on to do anything higher, in modern history. So they tend to be focused on the "college" aspect of West Point, while the Commandants tend to be focused on the military side. There is a road on campus that is colloquially referred to as the boundary between the Dean and the Com. The Superintendent, or the Supe, is in charge of both of them, plus the rest of the activities that go on there - Army laboratories, post units, family housing, etc.

Japan and Africa both exposed to Western culture in the mid-19th century (being generous in the latter's case; I'm counting from the colonial era, not first contact).

Starting as a feudal society in 1858, Japan modernized, built an economy and a world-class military and kicked a European power's ass within 50 years, despite having precisely zero natural resources except for the intelligence and industry of its people.

Africa, not so much. Still a basket case a century and a half later.

Yellow privilege, I guess.

Like most colleges, the permanent faculty (e.g., tenured) are specialists in their fields. The rotating faculty, who are more junior, are supposed to bring field experience into the classroom. The permanent faculty all were rotating faculty/junior officers at one time, but were sent to get Ph.D.'s by the Army and then permanently assigned as academics. So you do have heads of departments who have been in those departments for 20 years. They get out occasionally -- I worked in Afghanistan with the previous head of the Social Sciences department, Colonel Mike Meese (yes, son of Ed), who was head of GEN Petraeus's commander's action group at ISAF for 6 months -- and he was on his 3rd tour, I believe. (And while he was in Afghanistan, Cindy Jebb was back at West Point running the department as his deputy.)

Not a unique case - formerly important words like "investment" or "equality" or "rights" have been emptied of their true meaning and filled with, usually, the opposite.

To paraphrase ace from a few weeks ago, I can understand intelligent people having resentment against the country, now disfigured by racism as never before. I would have thought any statue of him in Detroit would have been blown up, but then the yutes don't know baseball history - or any sort of history for that matter.

401 Anti-nationalist globalist socialist totalitarians are not nazis or neo-nazis, and I find it does violence to the language to cram them in there.

The rest of your point is fine. Just objecting to that particular label. They're close ... but not overlapped.

Well, yah.

My basic point is to jam "Nazi/fascist" back onto the left side of the (rather ridiculous) political scale, where it belongs.

I'm pretty sure the "internationalist" communist Soviet Union was pretty damn nationalist in actual operation.

The "nationalist"/"internationalist" differentiation is just more leftist smoke and mirrors IMHO. It's tyranny vs. freedom that's the real "left vs. right" continuum. At least in my tiny little intellectual world.

There is nothing anywhere that objectively documents Obama's supposed
intelligence. It's all heresay. The fact that there is evidence of
Obama's ignorance on the most basic of subjects should lend support to
the theory of why no objective evidence of his intelligence is absent.

Posted by: Joe Hallenbeck at May 02, 2016 01:04 PM (6qmBU)

I'll grant him that he is intelligent. After all, he's President and I'm not, so he must have something going for him. But being intelligent does not mean that you have common sense, and his experience set in his life has nothing that we would recognize as ordinary American. So as a result, he says Corpseman, because he has never encountered the word. But if you wanted to debate whether the revolutionary struggle of the proletariat means that the intelligentsia have to support the dictatorship of the proletariat while the masses are not awakened, he could quote chapter and verse.

404 The most likely explanation for Obama at Harvard Law is that he got in as a minority or as a foreign student, had OK but not great grades in his first year, got onto Law Review through the writing competition which has minority slots, and then took as many leftist courses as he could in his 2nd and 3rd years, and perfected the "my Dad was a Kenyan" mixed with John Rawls "justice" arguments exam answer to get a lot of As.

Note that he didn't clerk for a judge (maybe the only Law Review President ever), and only worked at Sidley for a summer, which wasn't the most prestigious summer gig, and never wrote a published legal article ever.

Posted by: Ignoramus at May 02, 2016 01:18 PM (r1fLd)

405 Maybe it would be helpful if Mizzou had a system of determining which black people were the biggest victims of racism, based on bloodlines.

We could classify them as, say, mulatto, quadroon, octoroon or Rachel Dolezal, and then award them reparations based on their level of true blackness.

I'm gonna mention this to Roger Stone tonight!

I've pointed that out as well, in connection with Tribe's assertion that Obongo was the most brilliant student he'd ever met. His career trajectory certainly belies that assertion. I bet one phone call to that effect from Tribe would probably have gotten Obongo a clerkship at the Supreme Court.

"So as a result, he says Corpseman, because he has never encountered the word. "

I find it hard to believe that none of the people helping Obama prepare for that speech also didn't know the correct pronunciation.

OTOH, I can see Obama saying, "I know how to pronounce 'corpsman'.

I agree with all that, except for the part about how he got onto Law Review. I think he could take law school exams really well, which is a narrow specialized skill (issue-spotting) and graded on after 1L year rather than writing on. If you see the way he approaches Presidentin', it's clear that in many cases he can spot all the issues, and comes out with a maybe this, maybe that, but then this, or else that, sort of approach, which is what you do on a law school exam.

Ted Cruz's Dad:
"I implore every member of the Body of Christ to vote according to the word of God. And vote for the candidate that stands for the word of God and the Constitution of the United States of America ... The alternative could be the destruction of America."

If you don't buy this magazine, we'll shoot this dog.

I wasn't aware that Rick Santorums father pushed his son with a religious angle.

Ted Cruz' dad is how old? He has every right to say what he likes and people can either accept it or take it with a huge grain of salt. My personal opinion is that Cruz is brighter than Santorum and although person of the Christian faith is not a crusading Christian type in the same way Santorum is .

But be of good cheer. Donald will get the nomination unless there really are shenanigans. Ted Cruz is in his forties . He has a long career ahead of him, God willing (unless you really can't stand him), and Donald would hopefully win over Hillary
