Will Ferrell to Play "Reagan" as Demented Basket-Case

The script postulates that Reagan had dementia in office and was so out of it that an intern has to keep him on script by convincing him he's an actor playing the president in a movie.

Well, there you go.

It's interesting that their hate never diminishes.

Oh, Ferrell is also working on a movie with John C. Reilly where they will play, assumedly, misguided nativists who go on their own down the border to protect it.

So Ferrell is officially out of his making-profitable-films phase and deep into his low-budget vanity project phase.

Ace, all of Hollywood works on this principle:

Make big profitable movies with explosions and robots, and then use the profits to fund politicized anti-American claptrap money-losing leftist propaganda reels.

It's an endless cycles.

Every $10 you slap down to watch Transformers 2 is used to finance another Redacted.

36 I'm going to need some money to finance a couple of movie projects I've got in mind.

"LBJ" will show Pres. Johnson at the pinnacle of his career, signing the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and then there will be black and white flashbacks of him talking about how he is going to buy the n***** vote for generations. Probably need something in there about the 87-vote "landslide" over Coke Stevenson in 1948. Then we'll mix in some footage of Vietnam War butchery with excerpts of fawning press profiles of his Ivy League advisors.

"Jimmy Carter--The First Campaign" will show Hapless Jimmy's first run for public office. That would be the time he lost that school board race running as a hardcore segregationist.

The disadvantage of these movies over Will Ferrell's Reagan movie will be that they are not the fantasies of political enemies. Just the facts, ma'am.

141 Speaking of films -- this comment I made at the end of a previous dead thread got willowed, so I repost it here:

-----

Ace's "Flair" reference (at the end of the post) reminded me of something about the film "Office Space" which has bothered me for years:

The film goes along, being funny funny funny, ha ha ha, for the entire time, up until the very last scene in the movie which was so wrongheadedly and ruinously scripted that it just about undoes and ruins everything that comes before it.

Throughout the film, there is a "side character" -- the mumbling fat guy who keep getting his stapler stolen and his office desk demoted to worse and worse locations -- who is in reality not a side character at all but instead the main character that most viewers identify with. That's one of the clever structural things about the film -- the guy whom the writers present as the lead character (the guy who screws Jennifer Aniiston) is actually a side character, even though we see things from his vantage point. But he is just our "fantasy self." Our real self is the mumbling fat guy who is endlessly wronged and yet never has the gumption to do anything about it.

As the result, it is crucial to the film's narrative that the fat guy be an extremely sympathetic character, because he is the true "everyman" that the film is about.

So anyway, fast forward to the final scene where the fat guy, having burned down the office and stolen all the money, is lounging on the tropical beach, he inexplicably and totally out-of-character suddenly starts acting like a total asshole to the Hispanic waitstaff, bossing them around and making unreasonable entitled demands.

As a result, the viewer thinks when seeing the final scene that the fat guy really was an asshole all along, and thus deserved his mistreatment.

But this message undermines the entire film, which is based around viewers identifying with the unfairly mistreated ignored fat everyman.

Anyway, if you ever watch the film again, TURN IT OFF BEFORE THE FINAL SCENE, and you'll see how much more satisfying the whole film is.

I rank this as one of the worst last scenes in cinematic history.

Back in the '80s someone discovered a bunch of studio publicity B&W stills showing three Hollywood "hunks" -- Ronald Reagan, Tony Curtis and Rock Hudson -- wearing towels in a sauna or steamroom.

It was plainly obvious that they were on a set, not in an actual steamroom, and also that they were posing for the studio's public relations photographer -- a photo to "leak" to Hedda Hopper or some gossip columnist or whatever.

But -- gasp!!! -- it showed Reagan half- naked with Rock Hudson in a gay setting! So the leftist press at the time vigorously pushed the narrative that Reagan was secretly gay. Not that the lefties were against homos, no sir, but rather (the eternal leftist strategy) that they though that conservatives would abandon Reagan if they larned that he was homosexual.

Absurd propaganda, needless to say, but the struggle (to brainwash the public with Big Lies) is unceasing.

194 My father was a senior member of Reagan's Secret Service detail. He told me a story that the first time he met Reagan was in 1968 when Reagan was governor of California and my father was a fairly junior Secret Service agent. The next time he met Reagan was 13 years later when he became President. According to my father, Reagan actually remembered their first meeting and chatted about it in amazing detail. So I think I'll take my father's word on Reagan's memory.--------Eric

My father also spent some time guarding Reagan. He said the same thing. Reagan had a sharp mind and remembered the agents names, if they were married, and even the names of their kids. The only ones pushing the dementia angle is his mentally unstable son and other leftists.

He realized one day that he was there when Kennedy said "Ich Bin ein Berliner" when the Berlin wall went up, and when Reagan said "Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall."

I have one of my dad's passports and it is COVERED in stamps. What's cool is to match the stamps with what they mean. Such as Nixon going to China, or Kissinger negotiating to end the Vietnam War. Things like that.

I didn't find out until after my dad had passed away, that our house had been illegally bugged back when Watergate was in full swing. My dad found the bugs but never knew who put them there. Freaky deaky.

266 There will be a biopic about how "racist" the nation was toward Barry and Mooch. And how classy they both were, as they rose above it.

Count on it.

There won't be enough people who survive the Burning Times to make such a film.

Loved when he had the multiple roll over crash and the network went to a commercial break, and he was still rolling when they resumed broadcast of the race.

Good stuff.

270 I found Will Ferrell painful to watch on SNL. There
was usually a point where I found his skit funny, then it went on for
another ten minutes past that.

There was once a time when I thought I was required to watch SNL. Then he started doing that cheerleader skit with the little actress who was also occasionally funny.

That cheerleader skit they put on week after week after week after week, the same joke over and over and over and over again.

That's what actually cured me of thinking I HAD to watch SNL.

272 Prayers, please, for my lib sister's little rescue Jack Russell who apparently was bitten by a non-venomous snake. She waited FIVE DAYS to get it to the vet, and they drained blood out of its cheek today. It's sick and not doing well.

Anyhow, sister has been texting me non-stop since yesterday afternoon. I guess I'll need to send the Bernie/Hillary-loving lib a check to help her save her poor dog.

*sigh*

I always just quote the late, great Lewis Grizzard to them:

"Delta's ready when you are!"

I also like giving them his advice on what to if Atlanta gets nuked:

"Everybody on the north side get on I-75 North and keep going. Everybody on the south side get on I-75 South and keep going. Yankees get on I-285 and keep going."

277 I think maybe we've been underestimating Jerry Brown. What's wrong with California? Californians! So now his remark about signing the $15 minimum wage bill even though it didn't make sense is seen in a new light. The kind of sense it makes is that he's getting rid of Californians! The man is a genius, I tell you!

AMC cancelled the screening I was going to go to and instead showed Purple Rain.

287 As a result, the viewer thinks when seeing the final scene that the fat guy really was an asshole all along, and thus deserved his mistreatment.

But this message undermines the entire film, which is based around viewers identifying with the unfairly mistreated ignored fat everyman.

Anyway, if you ever watch the film again, TURN IT OFF BEFORE THE FINAL SCENE, and you'll see how much more satisfying the whole film is.

I rank this as one of the worst last scenes in cinematic history.

will play, assumedly, misguided nativists who go on their own down the
border to protect it.

So, Will's down to ripping off South Park episodes now.
