Bathrooms...A Continuing Series: North Carolina's Privacy Bill And The Left's Double Standard (CBD)
Here’s my conundrum: if it is immoral, even criminal or civilly liable for these mom-and-pop Christian businesses to deny services based on their fundamental beliefs, why is it not also immoral or legally actionable for large corporations to refuse their services to the citizens of those states where those who govern choose to pass legislation to protect the religious freedoms of their citizenry?All perfectly logical, but it misses the point of the exercise....to crush traditional American society and force slavish adherence to progressive orthodoxy is their only goal. It is blatantly obvious that the Left cares nothing for transgenders. First; there are so few of them that even if they all voted it wouldn't matter a whit. Second; if the progs really cared, they wouldn't push chemical and surgical mutilation as an option for these disturbed people, but would advocate for psychological help.
And "Dildo's Bathroom Bill" would mandate two kinds of bathrooms, based on genetics. XX and XY is the way to go.

The above bathroom is not suitable for females. The stalls dont even have doors. Females do more than poo and pee in the john (you figure it out) and need privacy.

Best way to understand that is to understand the Old Testament laws. There were three categories:
1) Moral law: the Ten Commandments; laws which reflect the character of God and ethical behavior.
2) Ceremonial law: laws regarding cleanliness and religious activity
3) Civil law: laws regarding the organization and structure of the theocratic kingdom.
Nothing does away with 1) Moral Law. That's simply the way the universe is structured, and cannot be changed. Jesus perfectly obeyed this in the place of the saved and adopted children of God.
The 2) Ceremonial law was completely fulfilled by Jesus Christ, since their entire purpose was to look forward to His coming and to demonstrate the level of sin in us all and the need for cleansing that. All the hand washing and ceremonial uncleaness and so on were about teaching former slaves about sin and righteousness (and some hygiene and food safety). We are no longer under this system or law in any way, because Jesus has fulfilled and is the personification of it all (Romans, Hebrews, Galatians, etc)
The 3) Civil Law was a structure so that a people who had been many generations as slaves would know how to run a government and build a nation. Only Israel was under that law, although since it was God's pattern for a holy nation, it would be foolish to simply disregard that.
So it too simplistic to ask "did Jesus repudiate the law" because it depends what you're talking about.

Jesus Christ was its purpose, direction, and fulfillment. Once He came, lived, and died, then the ceremonial laws became null and void. Sacrificing lambs and goats would not only be pointless, but sinful, after the one perfect sacrifice. Despite the clear wording of the statute, a Connecticut State judge is letting this case go forward rather than dismissing it as she should (with sanctions against the plaintiffs).

The men's room didn't have urinals. They had great big troughs, like bathtubs, where about 20 men could line up and go. I've never seen anything like that.

It is basically a "safe space" for people who need to exercise but who otherwise loathe going to a gym. Yeah I said it.
A good 60% or so of their workout floor are various cardio machines, 25-30% or so are weight machines, and the rest is the free-weight area. It isn't for the hardcore bodybuilder. They have their gyms, we have our gyms.

It does neither. You have to understand that I am a scientist. I can recognize the truthfulness of a statement without having to agree with every personality detail of the person making the statement. Lots of scientists were outright Communists yet they still did very good science. I can reject a person's beliefs in one area while still acknowledge the correctness of their work in others.
And P.S. I had a sinking feeling that someone would bring up Schlafly's endorsement of Trump with some attempt to reignite the Trump-Cruz wars, good job for confirming my fears

you are learning good habits and learning how to use the equipment and learning not to be afraid of it.
it is a *beginner's gym*.
I actually got a workout plan from one of hte trainers at Planet Fitness. her recommendation for me was:
15 minutes cardio
Do 15 reps on each of 4 instruments, on a light weight setting
15 more minutes of cardio
I am under no illusion that this workout won't actually build any muscle for me but it is getting me more comfortable with the gym.
this is just like when you are first learning to play an instrument, you first learn the easy songs before you learn the hard songs. there is little musical merit to playing "twinkle twinkle little star" but that is not the point.

Here was my workout today, maybe this will help.
15 minutes on a bike to warm up. Sweating already. 10 minutes using light free weights to get my arms ready. My upper body workout then took nearly an hour. After that, a few sets of cable crossovers to work on my love handles. Then 15 more minutes on the bike just to chill out and slow down.
A good hard workout that left me quite tired but feeling good. And I'm 55 years old.

I KNOW it's "not much of a workout", I didn't claim otherwise. That ISN'T THE POINT. You are talking about people who feel like failures at the whole idea of fitness. They aren't going to turn up the treadmill to 7 or 8, they aren't even going to step on the treadmill in the first place, because they think "well what's the point, I'm just going to fail at this, just like I've failed every other time that I've tried". They are only going to *eventually* be able to get on a treadmill on the level-8 setting if they first experience some success at the level-1 setting and don't utterly and miserably fail at it. That is the whole point of the workout that I described. I don't believe that I will get fit and buff with that type of workout. I won't, I know that. The point of that is to learn the machines and to build good habits only so that *eventually* I'll be able to use the treadmill on the level-8 setting or that eventually I'll be able to benchpress something other than the bar weight.

Maybe it is because I teach chemistry and I see students every day in lab who act like they have two left thumbs and they don't seem to know what they are doing, and I have to encourage them to keep with it, that no one is born a great chemist, they have to learn the techniques and skills and the only way to do that is with practice. It is the same with fitness and exercise and anything in life really.

A hard workout has its benefits, but has its problems, too.
I worked around a crap-ton of TCM doctors, many of whom were MD's as well, and to a man - and a woman - they were of the opinion that heavy workouts were only for athletes, whose overall health they didn't think much of.
They preferred and recommended slow, gentle exercise, with a brisk walk being about the limit in terms of intensity. Weights, yes, but slowly, and with plenty of fluid motion.

I disagree. If an adult child ask you to keep a confidence, specifically with your spouse, you have the right to tell that child up front that you cannot keep secrets from your spouse, or you keep the secret.
You owe your adult child the expectation that you will keep your word.
You do NOT owe your spouse the right to be told everything you know. Even when it has to do with your adult children.
Trust with your children can be lost at any time, and the constant need to retain it is a lifelong challenge. Trust with our spouse is about honoring your marriage, being faithful to them. It is not about telling them everything.

Make it a contest of sorts with the workout buddy . . . you pick an exercise, he picks another one, both of you pick some short-term, achievable, won't-kill-yourself-but-will-show-improvement goal (increase in weight, go for 15 minutes on the treadmill instead of the 10 minutes, whatever) and see who gets there first.
Maybe keep score for a year, going back and forth, and the overall winner has to buy the loser lunch or something.

I've been in an out of shape all my life. I started out as a jock and it wasn't hard to get back in shape whenever I needed to. I always hit a point where I slack off and then hate myself and then get back into it.
Well, I'm 56 and it isn't so easy anymore. When I hit my last peak I was doing 25 minutes on a Stairmaster at level 7 and following it with two circuits of free weights* every day.
I haven't had a serious workout in 4 months and I have a gut again and I have worked up enough self-loathing to get back into it.
*I could lecture on the benefits of free weights vs. machines, but we're talking to a guy who's talking himself into working out. You don't want to set the bar too high.

There was a time, for a while, after the Tea Party showed up with all these hand-made signs that the left realized how prepared and non-grass roots they all looked with identically professionally designed signs handed out. So they started to create these rougher looking ones, but they dropped that now again.
Its not a real protest if everyone is bussed in, handed shirts and signs, and told what to chant and say.

I saw it with one of the MD's who'd packed on the pounds after childbirth. She switched up her diet, eliminated rice except for once a week, did her qi gong with light weights, and morphed into quite the yummy mummy in short order.

I'm in pretty much the same boat. Went I think 8 months without working out because I've been moving from place to place, and was shocked at how much I had deteriorated, so to speak.
I just started back up again a few weeks ago myself after said loathing. No matter how much I work out, losing weight has always been a struggle. Seems like at our age just looking at a candy bar puts on weight. It's very frustrating.
I wasn't trying to be negative to CJ, though that's how it came off. It's just that not seeing results can get one discouraged also. Raising my hand here too.

So a person could have DNA that instructed build a make body and put a female brain in it.

It depends on how deep you probe. Distinquishing a cat from a human is trivial, but determining that the human brain within a human body matches that body is not necessarily as easy.

Sorry. There isn't a single cell (and there are +- 10^14 cells)in a transgender human that matches the pathological desire of the transgender to be the other sex.

I would guess that in most cases, its not even so serious it requires any mental health care. A lot of people are mentally damaged to a degree that they can function usefully in society without need for any mental health professionals.
But its still a mental problem, not some heroic act of triumph we all should endorse and change society to celebrate.

The problem with both assumptions is that they are in fact subjective categories - if, hypothetically, a male body has a brain that shows similarities to those typically found in female bodies, wouldn't it would more proper to expand the definition of what constitutes a male brain to account for the outlier, since the category of "male brain" in practice means "the type of brain found in male bodies," rather put it the category of "female brain?" And, if so, what definition of "healthy" could you use that encompasses a brain that cannot be reconciled with the body that it inhabits?

I think you are being overly accepting of those outliers.
A female brain is built on the backbone of XX allosomes. No way around that. The same with a male brain. XY allosomes.
If they deviate from the biological construct, then they are flawed or damaged, most likely as a result of environmental effects, but possibly flaws in gene replication.

I think you guys ought to seriously consider reassessing your take on
Corey Lewandowski and whether there is ANY REASON AT ALL to believe that
this man has EVER behaved like a thug.
And likewise, I think you guys ought to seriously consider reassessing your take on Trump and his campaign.
