6 There's going to be a huge exodus of jobless people from the Blue states, thanks to these $15/hr minimum wage bills. Costs of living will skyrocket, and those on government benefits / social security / etc. will be priced out of the market and driven to red states.

So basically, swarm of locusts. Florida has already experienced this a few times, but it's probably about to go national.

8 Trim the top brass?

Shut the Pentagon down and turn it into low rent housing. And while at it, Congress should shutter half the buildings it and its staff take up while also trimming staff.

Just a modest proposal on top of terminating the EPA and DHS among other agencies.

------------------------

Here's your feelgood story of the day:

About two years ago my mom in Cali got some Deep Blue new neighbors from Oregon (lawn signs always supporting the Deep Blue idiot candidate/cause). They built a fabulous house off the expectations of selling their taco restaurants in Seattle and retiring.

Then came $15/hr minimum wage in Seattle. Their deal fell apart because the prospective buyer backed out, seeing no profit in the business. They couldn't find another buyer for their money-loser.

They had to sell their dream retirement home at a loss and move to a smaller house in a more downscale neighborhood.

Speaking of the Decision Desk...

What gives with the lack of coordination between this site and the Decision Desk? You would think that at the very least there would be a link from here to there.

The DD lacks the amount of content and commentary leading up to and following an election to make it a go-to site for political junkies. The election day coverage is great, but nobody knows where the site is.

Together, managed properly, both Ace and CAC could make additional money if the two would get together and work it.

But, being on the right, lost opportunities are what we do.

Forget the big picture. Just install a link to the DD.

When I was stationed in Alaska back in the 80s, we hated Hated HATED spring. Nothing more miserable than living out of an Army ALICE pack in the woods when the snow is melting in the daytime only to freeze at night. That was always the time when we had cold weather injuries, much more than mid-winter.

European pro-gun groups are mobilizing against a new EU push to restrict the sale of firearms, claiming the proposal won't work as an anti-terrorism tool.

The groups, which are using an online petition as well as bulk emails targeted at EU policymakers, say measures proposed by the European Commission would punish hunters and sports enthusiasts but do little to restrict the ability of terrorists and criminals to obtain weapons.

The campaigns represent a new assertiveness for EU gun lobbies, which are far less powerful and visible than the National Rifle Association of America and which have traditionally focused on protecting the rights of hunters. While it's not likely the groups will be able to kill the legislation, it's clear they are already having an impact on the debate.

On September 22, 2015, Banks became involved in a confrontation with a fellow passenger and the flight crew while attempting to exit a Delta Air Lines flight that had just landed in Los Angeles. According to witnesses, Banks was attempting to squeeze by others passengers to disembark the plane more quickly, when a French man blocked her path. Banks reacted by spitting in the man's face, punching him, and clawing at his shirt. Subsequently, a flight attendant stepped in and demanded that Banks calm down. This resulted in Banks forcefully arguing with the flight attendant, in which she at one point called the Delta employee a "fucking faggot".

On November 10, 2015, it was reported Banks was under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department following an altercation involving the rapper and a security guard at L.A. club Break Room 86.

Later that year, Banks was arrested in New York after attacking a female security guard.

232 re: $15 min wage in NY/CA

For a long time WA had the highest minimum wage. It was indexed to inflation back in the 90s and went up 10-20 cents every year getting into the $9+ range recently. But now that the Soros/Union $15 movement has taken hold, WA's $9.50 is chump change. So the good people of Seattle will have none of it. And there is an initiative to make it $13.50 this year. And of course the left will never be happy. I've heard talk that once it goes to $13.50 - and it will pass easily - the next big milestone will be $20/hr. $20 an hour to sweep floors and flip burgers.

The insanity shows no signs of stopping any time soon.

Saw the story on Facebook, the one point that was missed was this:

How come it's OK for Banks, the rapperette, to call for Palin to be attacked by Big Black Men thus feeding the stereotype that all Big Black Men are automatically rapists? The stupid rapperette in her rant fully dissed the men of her race by casting them in the role that she thinks Conservative White Amurricans believe is normal for Black men.

BTB, if you actually read Banks' rants, it's apparent that she is functionally illiterate and deeply stupid, so it appears that being a professional outrage clown is all she has going for her.

The family, who are from the Syrian city of Homs, had been living in Mafraq, a town north of Amman. He was unable to find work in Jordan, and the family was surviving on food coupons.

Talking to my friends in Seattle, 6200 people a month move into the Seattle area, making housing costs just crazy. It's going to really suck when there is no one left to clean the toilets and mop the floors--because even at $15 an hour, you can't pay outrageous rents. Posted by: Brother Cavil, Restorationist at April 06, 2016 09:58 AM (9krrF)

268 What LIVs don't understand about increasing the min wage is that it makes their work less valuable. Say you make $20 an hour now and the min. wage is $10. Your work is twice as valuable as someone making min. wage. But if it goes to $20 for the illegal burger flipper, then your labor will be worth the same as theirs.

So one of two things will happen. You will work for $20 producing twice as much value as the illegal burger flipper but getting paid the same. Or, you will demand $40 an hour since relatively speaking your labor is still twice as valuable.

And someone making $30 will demand $60 and on and on. Which will eventually lead to inflation where $20 is worth the equivalent of what $10 used to be worth.

Eventually the laws of supply and demand kick and and the labor force is rebalanced. Despite what the left tries to do, it can't bend the laws of economics.

I had a job offer in Seattle. The salary was very nice. But after spending an hour or so on Trulia I realized that very nice salary was worth jack shit given the housing costs. And because real estate is so expensive, everything else is expensive since businesses have to pay the cost of rent on to the customers. It's a vicious cycle that will get insanely more vicious with $15 minimum wage thrown in.

But it's been like this in NYC and SF forever. There are enough people willing to work for $150K a year and live in a basement apartment to keep Seattle going. I'm just not one of those people.

Talking to my friends in Seattle, 6200 people a month move into the Seattle area, making housing costs just crazy. It's going to really suck when there is no one left to clean the toilets and mop the floors--because even at $15 an hour, you can't pay outrageous rents. The truly rich already provide servants' quarters, pretty soon, the merely rich will have to do so too.

This is on display every day in Europe--don't bother with bringing your own women, you just rape and otherwise appropriate the women in the place you are invading.

Posted by: Lizzy at April 06, 2016 10:17 AM (NOIQH)

I think that's the cost of doing business. If something catastrophic happens, you're possibly an hour or two from medical care, increasing the complications. So you get to pay for the increased risk. Also, it's hard to get doctors to move out to the sticks, so the communities with hospitals have to pay more to get them to come. Please note that this is all my opinion and is subject to the reality of reality (I may be wrong and am willing to admit as such).

348 As for rising house prices in some of those blue hells listed above that is not confined to just those crappy cities. Housing prices seem to be rising even here in nowhere land. And the reason is simple. If you go back and look at long term housing prices they are the true reflection of inflation regardless of what the lying government says.

So even though the current corrupt regime says there is no inflation, just look at what housing prices are doing in your own local areas. And do NOT depend on some government number for it.

That's due to fewer doctors/hospitals around. Less competition = higher prices, hence higher insurance premiums to cover those higher prices.

It will be difficult (I think) to get Rule 40 changed. Not impossible, but difficult, especially before the first two ballots. This mostly due to the complete fracture of the party if it were to happen. Hard core Trump voters and hard core Cruz voters wouldn't vote for the (R) nominee (I'd still go and vote for the rest of the offices, but not for the "white knight"), which would make winning in November really difficult.

But then again, maybe they don't actually want to win in November. They seem to keep winning congressional seats running as "not Democrat" and not actually doing anything. This is the reason why I don't think that getting rule 40 changed is impossible.

370 I get why Cruz chose to team up with the GOPe vs with Trump.
The GOPe deal is sweeter : he gets to be nominee, he even gets to be in the WH because this is the year we get a turn.
I just hope for his sake he has some kind of leverage that will make them keep the deal after the first ballot.

If he made a deal with Trump the best he could get is VP.
Otoh he could be confident that Trump keeps the deal because it's baked in.

Rephrase that, Starflower. It's not a black/white thing; REPUBLICANS like Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King and their fellow white Republicans fought against Democrats for your right to vote and live free for DECADES. So it's not about race. It's about ideology, beliefs, that sort of thing.

That's still a worry. I think that the two of them have 1237, or close to it, now.

If they unite, and manage to keep 1237 on the first round, they get it (or should).

If they fail to keep them, things get weirder.

At some point, they might note that the best way to keep the party from crowning someone is for their delegates to hang tough. Trump is already pointing to the GOP reactions as proof that he's the outsider. It's both a help and a hindrance.

Cruz' comments the other day were interesting as well.

Nope, the best deal he could get is Scalia's seat on The Court. That's for life and is arguably more important impact-wise than being POTUS. Long after Bobo is just another has been, Kagan and Sotomayor will be still shaping America to fit their twisted vision--death do us part, bitches.

382 Trump is saying he wants Kasich out of the race because his whole campaign revolves around his being the unassailable front runner. Why on earth would he acknowledge weakness by claiming he wants the last vote-diluter out of the race?

And he probably believes it. And that's what I want in a Republican candidate, someone who expects to win and acts accordingly.

After July we'll be running against liberals. They're bullies. Which means you know how they react to a bully - and how they treat anyone who shows weakness.

I saw the four term gov. interviewed on Fox yesterday. He actually said that Kasich's unfavorables are much lower than the other five presidential candidates in the race, therefore, he is obviously America's choice in a candidate.

The above is as close to an exact quote as I can remember it.
America's choice. Even though Kasich gets only a small percentage of the total vote.

Be that as it may...there are fewer providers in rural areas than in urban areas. So there is less competition and higher prices, regardless of what network the providers are in.

You're basically describing every type of insurance in the world. Do you think GEICO gives a fuck about your car? Of course not. They care about controlling costs and limiting options. When you have an accident, you can't just take your car to any mechanic. It's a limited network of approved shops. That's nothing new.

If you do facebook, look up "Barber County Wildfire 2016". Some great information and a lot of people have sent help and supplies. By my count (there is a file on fb showing them), at least 136 volunteer fire districts from all over the state sent trucks or men to help (I know the count is low, because the one my dad and brothers are on sent a truck and they aren't on the list). People are sending fencing supplies and FFA chapters are volunteering to help rebuild fence.

The Jake Gyllenhal one focuses on a runner who was injured while waiting for his girlfriend at the finish line (not sure of the gf's fate).

Chances that either one attempts to make the bombers empathetic/just lost kids instead of cold-blooded, America-hating terrorists?

--
It's a weird story. The family could indeed be Christian. But the son was probably nuts. His Facebook post showed a weird schizo-paranoia that could have easily led to him killing his mom. The cops say "no knife was found", but the mother was (as far as I read) stabbed indicating a knife, whether found or not. Chances are that this guy said some "homophobic" things about his son (who he claimed came at him with a knife) and some libs decided that this was the motive, for the shooting, absent the knife.

But it doesn't appear to be a case of sharia honor killing. But it's also not as straight as "Christian Dad Kills Gay Son" either.

So the little .22 short pen gun my grandfather has is illegal?!

Yes, unless he's paid the $200 NFA tax and has a tax stamp. And he can't transfer it to anyone else without them paying that tax as well.

Disguised weapons are "Title II" weapons. Buying or selling is an issue, but possessing one (and I assume it predates the 1968 National Firearms Act that regulates it) shouldn't be an issue. Though I doubt police would be pleased to discover one during a traffic stop.
Posted by: Brother Cavil, Restorationist at April 06, 2016 09:38 AM (9krrF)

This is terrible advice. Receiving an NFA weapon without having paid the NFA Transfer Tax is a serious crime. Manufacture date has nothing to do with it, other than the ban on transfers of machine guns made after May 1st, 1986.
