Far from it. I used to review a paper a day, on average, in academia. My principle: the reader takes precedence over the author(s). On more than one occasion, for non-native speakers of English, I rewrote a paper in its entirety in my review.

Will try to keep this short. I'm basically stuck in Laughlin with my nephew, niece and my more-crazy sister I've told you about. We were dropped off by family and thought we could spend a few days extra here, then rent a car to take home to SoCal. Turns out we can't get a car, my and my sister's credit is too terrible.
Staying in hotels but money is running out. Meanwhile my sister is reaching her estranged husband/my bro-in-law to come out for us... But is being weird about it.

I would suggest rescheduling for when your daughter can be there. I suspect your son would not mind the delay if he loved his sister.
Was your ex estranged from your son? That might be the cause of your daughter's pique. She might feel that if they couldn't make an effort to be in your son's life before his death, they shouldn't get the right to be around when people who actually loved him get to say goodbye.

Tell the truth, and tell it simply and plainly. Trying to be too artful about it, or too clever will only cause more pain. Tell her why it needs to be done, tell her that you're not snubbing her and that there's nobody else.
And perhaps offer to go with her to the place where the ashes are dispersed later, when she is available, to lay a wreath or place a memorial marker so she can say goodbye.

Frankly back in 1992 Studio Tron released Compiler about the 2D world wanting to conquer the 3D world so it sent two programs out to do that - Compiler and Assembler. And of course, each of them could power up by inserting in the back of their necks special data discs.
Yes Kikuchi was massively influenced by the original Tron movie for this series though it does turn comedic because the programs are young women who find out they like the 3D world.

When my father died, my brother lost his mind. He didn't want me to go to the funeral because My husband told him to stop acting like a pu**y.
He told my mother to stop us from attending, if we went he would never speak to her again. He hasn't.
He caused a scene at the funeral. He was screaming at me like a crazy person.
He's always had issues, but a death in the family is very stressful.

I have been charged with scattering ashes of departed family members before (with everyone in friendly accordance, no conflicts, no bad blood).
As I did so, I was startled to realize that "cremains" are essentially indistinguishable from what is found at the bottom of any hearth or firepit or wood barbecue.
If I had to keep everybody happy in terms of ash distribution, I might end up stretching the ashes a bit, with discreet additions. Some here, some there.

I have no use for that sort of silly nonsense, but wouldn't it have been worth the price of admission to spend years afterwards relating the story of once having been held at gunpoint by *the* James Brown?

Don't know if you are reading this, but thanks so much for the article from Science magazine about the big Bronze Age battle. I love history and wanted to be an archeologist when I was a kid (funny thing, though, I have never seen an Indiana Jones movie!) There was an economic depression from 1920-1921, but the government, wisely, did nothing at all about it and it fixed itself in about 2 years. The Great Depression kicked-off on Black Friday, 1929 -- and the government went all-in as being "the saviour of the People." So, when things got a little better in 1933, the Ruling Class in government felt vindicated.....until all the unintended consequences of their meddling began to surface, and the economy again tanked.
Misreading the significance of this, and inhaling their own brain-farts, the government doubled-down on meddling and ultimately extended a 2-year depression into the decade-long Great Depression.
Repeating 1933's gains is a horror story, not a fairy tale.

All this civility has been a fairly recent thing, up until just a few centuries (maybe as far as millennium by now) it's been all about capturing or allocating scarce resources for your clan. It's only been with the development of modern technology (again, only within the past couple of thousand years) that Man has been able to move away from basic survival issues to create "first world problems".
My guess, the battle was all about repelling foreign invaders. Viking type invaders, perhaps. Might make an interesting story for all of you storytellers out there looking for something to write about.

There is a backup system of sorts. You can board a plane with a U.S. passport. Or you can also now get a "passport card" for a few additional bucks. Either as part of a first-time passport application, or piggybacking on top of an existing issued passport.
It has the same form factor as a credit card or driver's license. You can't get through most international checkpoints with a passport card, but it will suffice at any domestic Stateside airport.
So for someone who travels a lot, having one of those stashed separately from one's wallet or purse can be a huge help in such tough situations.

FCF... people are not rational when it comes to the death of loved ones. I would put plans off til your daughter can be with you when you carry out your son's wishes. Perhaps by then, she will be past some of the grief and all of the baby hormones. THEN you can talk to her about why you want to include extended family.
Please do not do anything in haste that will cause hard feelings with your remaining child... hurts caused after the death of a loved one fade exceedingly slowly if at all and I am very sure your son would not want that for you or her.

Also just watched the first episode of the new season of Archer. Having been completely drummed out of the freelance spy business, they're now making a go as Los Angeles private investigators. Maybe it's just me but I'm not feeling it anymore. Everything has gotten a bit too predictable in the characters' eccentricities and interactions. The last season ended rather in a way I found unsatisfying because Kreiger went nuts and created a disaster, yet nobody seemed to think this was a problem and they should all remain together.
Still have the last two episodes of Venture Bros. to watch. It has been so good up through #6 I'm almost afraid to watch them. Either they'll fail to find a good way to wrap up the arc or it will be really good and I'll go into withdrawals for lack of anything good to take its place.

Since Vic is posting the news, I'll chime in with the entertainment section.
One problem with Hollywood / theatre story collections (especially ones from the 1950s and '60s) is that, while the stories are good, many times names are left out, leaving you to guess who the raconteur is speaking of. So in this story, you'll have to be content that the subject is, in the words of the author, "a Broadway producer who has a genius for feuding with six critics, eight stars and eleven authors and directors at the same time."*
It seems he was overseeing a new musical during its Boston tryout, and decided one certain number was no good. "Take it out," he ordered. "It's awful."
The composer and lyricist disagreed. "We think it's the funniest number in the show," they protested, and refused to slice the piece.
No dice. The number was cut. But the writers wouldn't leave the producer alone, each day pestering him to restore it. Finally, in exasperation, the producer allowed them to leave the song in when the show moved to Philadelphia tryouts. "I'm only doing this to shut you two up," he snarled. "The audience won't laugh once."
But as it turned out, the audience did laugh. In fact, they were literally rolling in the aisles. In triumph, the writers rushed to the producer and demanded, "Do you hear the audience howling?"
The producer glared at the two for a moment, then snapped, "They don't mean it."

The Brits just didn't have enough of them in May 1940 to make a difference.
