Speaking of New York Shitty, there's a chance that the city council will finally approve of putting tolls on the East River Bridges.

26 On Obama playing golf: yes, it's farcical that as the world burns, the leader of the free world putts.

But imagine how much damage Obama would be doing if he were in the office every day. It's not as though the collaborationist congressional Republicans would be any more determined to oppose him if he were around more often.

Distract him even more. Gin up some more glossy awards for being The Greatest Ever Whatever. Make the awards ceremony out of town. A couple of time zones away. With a golf resort close at hand. And a massive banquet buffet for Mooch.

Model airplanes seem to be all the rage, especially with the drone craze now in full swing. Check out this You Tube channel called "Flite Test." These guys are building some really cool planes out of foam-core board. True the electronics are expensive but this makes it more accessible to the average hobbyist.

Model trains are said to be a dying hobby. Who knows? I think with the advent of the Maker movement and 3-D printing, etc., that these kinds of past times will see a comeback. I hope so. I think losing the ability to build things on your own and take pride in it is a microcosm of the American experience. We'll see how long the left realizes this and then tries to kill it.

By the way, I totally remember SIG when I was into model airplanes. The Comet lineage includes people who went on to start Top Flite, Monogram and of course Carl Goldberg.

Great story; one of my uncle's partners was a packaging genius and after the war, when he was walking in the market, he thought "wouldn't it be great if you could put lemon juice in a plastic container?" He invented the plastic lemon. 2 house in Tahoe later. . .

The thing about the corrie case is that their own expert testified that the driver would not be able to see her. I think the corrie's were arguing that the IDF had no right to be clearing IEDs in the first place with "activists" in the area.

64 I wouldn't get too excited about this abortion law in Indiana, the SCOTUS has taken considerations over abortion out of the democratic process.

I expect this law much like the Texas admitting law to ultimately be struck down.

The progressives have packed the courts so as time goes on look for more of their agenda to be "constitutionalized" and removed from the democratic process.

So my anarchist (not really, but decidedly impish) FiL brought down yesterday's gathering of my in-laws by asking aloud, "Who's voting for Trump?" Matters went downhill rapidly from there, with a recently voted down request to increase property taxes for local schools becoming the focus of heated discussion at the dinner table. I remained mute, as most of those arguing and feeling the most distressed are on the leftist side of the family.

Good times.

68 And good morning Horde!

One of the older polls dropped out of the RCP average, no new polls since Brussels/CruzSexgate to factor into Trump's numbers.

President: Clinton - 50%, Trump 38.8%, GOP -11.2%

Senate: 5 GOP and 1 Dem seat are rated tossups, projecting a tie in the Senate

House: 4 GOP seats will go to Dems, 1 Dem seat will go to GOP, 14 GOP seats are tossups, 3 Dem seats are tossups. Averaging it all out and the Dems should pick up 12 seats allowing the GOP to hold the house.

(Note that averaging tossups doesn't always work out, many of the recent elections the party with momentum sweeps the tossup elections)

And to some degree I must say to you, some of the questions, the way they're posed to me, it's clear to me that what's happening is an embarrassment to our country."

But the original story should have been enough to publish-ISIS thugs attacked a nursing home-A NURSING HOME for gosh' sake- in Aden, Yemen, and killed four nuns, two Yemeni aides, and 8 elderly residents.

Yeah, let's bring more of these folks into our neighborhoods.

170 ISIS crucified the priest on Good Friday.
The story sort of got buried.

Aw, man. Just horrible.

171 Speaking of albums...

I just found this old, long wanted CD version of

"The Eternal Return" by Jules Shear.

in excellent shape and for a decent price.

It's from 1985 and chock full of mid-80's pop goodness.

Here's the whole album with one addition:

Shear is one of these guys who have never had a big hit of his own, though other people have using his songs.

You'll recognize a couple of them off this album and his album "Watch Dog":

173 Remember the $1200 toilet seats. With the budget they have, there is no reason on earth the military should be in the piss poor shape that it's in. It is a microcosm of the entire failed political/governmental system in this country. It has gotten so big, so 'all-doing' that the only possible thing it can do for anything that it does, including fixing what is broken, is to throw money at it. It is so huge that it is impossible for anyone to know what it is doing.

But on the bright side: It's great for the plutocrats and the oligarchs, so...

I wonder what it's like in Dearborn Michigan right now? That's probably a good example of what it's like to bring in lots of muslims.

Posted by: Draki at March 28, 2016 08:59 AM (ZKJmH)

177 Wretchard/Richard Fernandez is absolutely right. It's coming to counterinsurgency, the muslims learned from the left, the left is abetting them, and it's going to get ugly. Oh, and as Steyn pointed out, the young and fit -- the once who supply the soldiers and cops -- are 25% muslim. Who watches the watchers?

178 I was pleased to see that the local tv news this a.m. labeled the Pakistan bombing as an attack on Christians on Easter - no hiding it under weasel words and generic 'violence'.

Remember all those years our military refrained from launching attacks Iraq and Afghanistan on holy days?

Posted by: Lizzy at March 28, 2016 09:03 AM (NOIQH)

179 I mean in Belgium they are 25% muslim, probably less elsewhere in Europe but still some significant amount. That's a whole lot of people either looking the other way or actively abetting jihad. So, along with counterinsurgency the Euros are going to have to clean out their own ranks. More ugliness.

180 And my pope (lower case), this Peronista, who washes the feet of mussulmans the week of an attack on one of the capitals of Europe, who tells us to bring in more refugees but doesn't see fit to open up the Vatican to them, will tell me after this deliberate act of barbarity tacitly approved of by the majority of mussulmans.

More events that hand the Presidency to Trump.

I call for a new schism in the Catholic Church, the election of a new Pope, and the implementation of a more aggressive ideology in defense of the faith. Bring back Benedict. Bring back Urban II.

184 @181 -- the book was, as usual, much more clearly presented.

We all experienced (and are continuing to) experience this crisis, so the story is somewhat incomplete. And the epilogue was typical the Hollywood straw man that the political rhetoric (from the right) assigns blame to "poor people and teachers."

Frankly, I do blame the poor, for their financial ineptitude, avarice, and inability to calculate risk. They're not the only guilty parties, but they don't get off either in my book. And I blame teachers because they failed to educate a large portion of the population to understand consumer finances.

It's an OK film.

I haven't seen it but the events of the movie were built around this: (I think)

1) Federal gov't required banks to give house loans to people who couldn't afford them by law.

1a) This was due to leftist phone-baloney made up charge of "redlining" as racist refusal of loans. As reality bore out, they couldn't afford loans and math is a stone-cold bitch) Also, surprise! pre-presidential Obama was in the thick of this crap.

2)Banks and leading institutions were stuck with a metric shit ton of crap loans which were worthless, so-

2a) in order to cut their liabilities, they bundled these loans together and sold them as an unlovable investment because Fannie May/Freddy Mac guaranteed them through the gov't

3) lots of suckers bought these due to bubble inflation of worth plus it was unloseable, which was pure sucker bait

Sidenote: I have a good friend who managed funds who lost his job because he refused to buy these for the funds he managed when his boss ordered him to.

He knew they were built on nothing.

4) Bubble pops. Loans exposed as unrecoverable/worthless. Therefore, loan funds worthless. Crash!!!

5) However, if you sold short on these piles of crap at the right time- you could make billions.

Thus, "The Big Short".

Posted by: naturalfake at March 28, 2016 09:25 AM (2rmvw)

188 The Pope is doing his job. His "Ubi et Orbi" Easter message was pretty fierce for a papal address. He placed the "Evil" squarely on the shoulders of the Islamic terrorists and made the moral argument that Christ's love is superior to the hate that inspires those promoting and engaging in the violent death of innocents.

In the long run "Why We Fight" is just as important as the fighting.

189 @187 I have a somewhat different take on the causes of the financial crisis, the big causes of which were:

1) down payments getting cut from the historic 20%. Just before the crisis the median down payment for ALL mortgages was 3%. This was insane. Regulators had a lot of responsibility here.

2) securitization abuses, including by rating agencies. Securitization works in theory by pooling mortgages and diversifying risk, but doesn't work when a high percentage of the mortgages were bad.

3) Credit default swap abuses. This multiplied the exposure.

4) Fannie and Freddie being in cahoots with BigGov.
