Meryl Streep, Asked About All-White Oscar Panel: Well We're All Really From Africa, Aren't We?

Indeed we are, the main theory goes, so it'll be interesting to the extent the same people who #LoveScience so ferociously will throw science out the window for their scalp-hunting.

I like when celebrities get into SJW trouble, not because I wish ill on them out of vengeance, but because these SJW monsters get away with a lot of destruction of Little People, under the radar -- because the media won't cover it. Instead, the media covers up.

So I hope Meryl Streep gets into SJW trouble, and begins to understand what a toxic cesspool of hatred these demented borderline-personality-disorder drama-seeking malcontents stir up, and maybe pushes back, and maybe even drops a well-deserved "GFY."

That's my hope, anyway.

What she'll probably do is issue an abject apology by 2:30 pm.

Posted by: Vic-we have no party

Well, way way back, we humans must have ur-originated in Africa, because that's where the Great Apes evolves, and we know from DNA that they are out closest relatives.

But you are partly correct: What has recently fallen out of favor is the once-accepted theory that all humans are exclusively descended from the second great "out-migration" from Africa just a few tens of thousands of years ago. And that the earlier emigrants -- Neanderthals, "Peking Man, "Java Man," and aboriginals -- all died out.

Now we are learning that we humans are a blend of first out-migrants and second out-migrants.

What this all means in practical terms is that we now have proof that:

1. Race is real, not a "social construct"; and
2. The racial divisions go way, way way back millions of years, and are not a recent development, as previously thought.

55 Slightly off topic but the FX OJ Simpson series is kinda interesting. Only watched episode one so far but a lot of behind the scenes stuff that never came out in the trial.

It's remarkable how they choose actors who look so much like the real participants. Best scene -- OJ has a gun to his head after writing a suicide note and I'm yelling, 'Do it! Do it!'

Couldn't help myself. I probably wasn't actually yelling but I wasn't whispering it either.

"There is a core of humanity that travels right through every culture, and after all we're all from Africa originally," she added.

"Berliners, we're all Africans really."

See, actors think they are up to speed on "topics" because they played parts (and did some sort of homework). I was thinking, then I looked, that she probably thinks this is true based on her movie she did so long ago. So very long ago.

Plus, doesn't hurt to throw "Africa" out there, as it is a movie she can move people to watch again (download/rent).

That theory has been pretty thoroughly debunked in the science community. It's still pretty popular with racists, though.

I've always argued that our evolution was far more complicated than the model where Homo Sapiens evolved in Africa to later populate the entire planet. The authorities who rule science are just recently getting that under their sagital crests.

Posted by: Anna Puma

Perfect example of a hominid from the first out-migration. Thought to have died out millions of years ago, but instead survived almost to modern times.

What used to be called "Peking Man" are now called "Denisovans." They are hominids that left Africa millions of years ago, then began to evolve independently and separately from the hominds that stayed in Africa. Then, less than 100,000 years ago, the newly-evolved Cro-Magnons emigrated from Africa and mated with Denisovans, creating modern Asians.

Latest DNA discoveries, summarized in the simplest way, are:

Cro-Magnons = modern sub-Sarahan Africans

Cro-Magnons + Neanderthals = modern "Caucasians"

Cro-Magnons + Denisovans = modern Asians

Pure Denisovans (or close relatives) = modern Aborigines and Melanesians

Pure Neanderthals = extinct

(The "+" symbol means "mated with")

If you're white, you are about 3% Neanderthal.

If you're black or Asian, you are 0% Neanderthal.

You can pretty much bank on that.

What makes things muddy nowadays is that due to "globalization," starting way back about 2,600 years ago and rapidly accelerating in recent centuries and decades, there has been a LOT of, ahem, shall we say "interbreeding," so that it is getting increasingly rare to find anyone who is "pure" one thing or another. So you could very well have all sorts if unexpected DNA in you. That's the gimmick to the Henry Louis Gates TV show "Finding Your Roots" or whatever it's called. They do a DNA test on some cappucchino starlet and announce that, unbeknownst to her, she's 2.7% black, and she goes "Wow!" and everyone nods sagely.

it was curious. I don't get why it was such a phenom. I guess just when something gets "hot," then everyone has to try it.

I guess I just didn't get this particular fantasy, or why it sold.

I think it's kind of like the Count of Monte Cristo where you just keep hearing how Mysterious the count is, and people are free to make up the details in their own head. The whole movie seemed to be "Christian Grey, so MYSTERIOUS, so DARK!," and they keep saying that, but he's really not all that mysterious, and his darkness is a pose. The way he caves into her without any explanation other than "she's a girl" makes about as much sense as how superheroes get their powers, too. It just happens, shut up!

Why some books sell so well and others do not is an endless mystery that has infuriated and frustrated authors for all of history. Nobody knows why or how it works. It just does, or most of the time, doesn't.

372 I don't know. Women are a mystery.

I tried to read the book. Partly because I am competitive and I was in a massively passionate physical relationship at the time and wanted to compare.

Mostly, every woman in America was reading it and I thought I might understand women better if I read it too. I got through 49 pages to the first sex scene, which was all of the meh. Her orgasms were "shattering into a million pieces of glass".

Understanding women may not be worth the trouble.

Basically, we're now realizing that "Neanderthal-ness" is what created "Caucasian-ness."

Thus, if you are "white," you are pretty much guaranteed to have Neanderthal DNA.

And even if you are "African-American," there is a 70% chance you will have at least some Neanderthal DNA.

If you are completely pure sub-Saharan African, though, you will have 0% Neanderthal DNA.

"UNCLASSIFIED" Like that, in upper-case.

This is from a .mil address.

So, seems to me not only was Hillary stripping out the "classified" designations, she was also stripping out the "unclassified" designations.

That's how they are playing the "I didn't know it was classified" lie.

And I think that is why anyone who has any knowledge of this is so pissed: Every communication always has either a "classified" or "unclassified" in the header and body.

And I'll bet there is a rule that if you don't see "unclassified" in the communication, you are to assume it is classified until otherwise informed.

Bridges of Madison County is a chick flick. I liked it, (until the scene where Eastwood has his shirt off and is tossing water on his droopy boobs and skinny armpits.)
Yes, Meryl has a major fling on the kitchen floor for four days in Iowa while her family is at the state fair. In the end, she does the honorable thing and stays with her family, says nothing to them, dutifully cares for her husband as he dies later on in the film and only lets her children know in her will with her burial request. It's a romantic movie, with some major moral questions posed.
Eastwood did a great job directing, but seemed too old to be cast in the role of the dashing photographer.
Best scene is when Meryl is in her husband's truck, with her hand on the door handle, wrestling with the decision to leave or stay, while Eastwood is in the truck in front of them.....

she's not really hot. She's cute. She has a type to her. She'd be good in rom-coms as the clumsy awkward idealistic/naive girl.

i liked her, and sure she's attractive, but no, she's not hot. In this sort of movie, the woman isn't supposed to be hot; she's supposed to be an Everyone -- just pretty enough to be likable, not pretty enough to be *threatening.*

the dude was more overtly "hot," of course, thus fulfilling the fantasy that average/cute girl can twist hot dude around her finger.

I like her though. I saw her in a trailer for the movie with Rebel Wilson, the heavy blonde girl, and I didn't know who she was (I had to imdb it), but I immediately was like 'Oh I like that plain-looking girl."

450 Speaking of race, when will the idiots we so fondly refer to as republican candidates and elected officials, bring up the elephant in the room?

In Baltimore, a city that republicans haven't had any say in running for multiple decades, only one in five black children can read and write at grade level. Less are proficient in math.

80% of black children in Baltimore are functionally illiterate.

Baltimore public schools spend over $30,000 per year per pupil. Almost the highest in the country (next to Washington D.C.) and equal to what some of the most prestigious private schools charge.

There are only two explanations for the results:

That democrats will accept the destruction of generations of inner city black lives, perpetuating and increasing poverty and hopelessness in order to maintain the votes of the teacher's union.

or

These children are just genetically inferior and no amount of education will work.

No other explanation exists.

When will our politicians ask democrats and MSM personalities this question and demand answers?

Don't people think that after the screams of racism die down, a few blacks might start to think this over?

Every time out politicians don't aggressively attack the left on this, we accept the narrative that we're the racists.

Posted by: Big Fat Meanie

That right there is what has caused a lot of "mixing."

If your ancestors are from Eastern Europe, there is a good chance that way way back in the centuries some great-great-grea-great-etc-grandmother of yours was raped by a marauding Mongol horseman, or a "Hun," who also has Asian genes, so that if you were to do a DNA test now, you'd find out that you were "part Asian," even though you might look completely "white."

Similarly, if your distant ancestors were from Spain or Sicily or a few other places in Europe, you might have had a distant predecessor who had a fling with or was raped by a "Moor," who were themselves Arab invaders who had somewhat mixed with Africans during the conquest of the Sahara region -- thus, you would find "African" DNA in you, even though you identify as "European."

Many of you may remember the infamous scene in "True Romance" that was based in this, where Dennis Hopper purposely insults Christopher Walken that, as a Sicilian, he's probably part black, to induce Walken to kill Hopper quickly and thus painlessly, rather than torturing him.

I had a woman tell me that once. So I left and got some food. Maybe that explains why I'm single.

My ex and I made a deal for our first anniversary, no presents. We paid for most of our wedding and we bought a sailboat so things were a little tight.

But I wasn't going to fall for that crap so I got her a dozen roses. She got me a Rolex.

I still have the watch.

Well of course. But no women wants a man who she's constantly having to reassure.

Men: Do not ever, ever, ever ask your wives/girlfriends/hook up partners "Are we ok?"

Because

A) If you have to ask, you know the answer is no.

B) It makes you seem desperate and needy on a primal level.

And if you do ask, for the love of God never ask twice.

The Germany Sandbillies

Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Achmed.
Poor camel jockey barely kept his family fed.
And then one day he was shooting at some food.
And up from the ground came a-bubblin' crude.

Well the next thing you know Achmed's a millionaire.
His imam said "Achmed, move away from there."

Yep, Lauren is right. I would like my man, if I had one, to feel comfortable sharing himself with me, but I don't want some crier. Crying is allowed only for very serious things, e.g., death. No going on and on about feelings. YMMV.

I am not at all sensitive and very unemotional, so I don't think I could handle a sensitive, emotional guy. Heck, I'm not sure I can handle girls like that.

675 "What about Valentines Day? My take is it's bullshit and nothing more than a way to sell flowers and candy. I told my woman long ago I don't play that game. She didn't give a shit. That's when I knew she was a keeper.
"

So for Valentines Day I'd say most people don't actually care but you can occasionally make it mean something.

For example: My grandpa was a curmudgeon and my grandma was a fireball. They had a colorful marriage.

However every year he'd get her the same box of Russel Stovers candy putting basically zero effort into it because she did not really care.

But when she was diagnosed with diabetes, he went down and found the sugar free box for her to continue their "tradition."

This bare minimum of consideration was quite touching considering he was, as I said, not exactly the romantic type.

And then a few years later she fell and suffered a traumatic brain injury and he lovingly cared for her every day going forward til her death(about 5 years) and had a stroke a week after she died.

Which mattered a lot more than chocolate.

716 Stranger than Fiction is the only Will Farrel vehicle I actually liked.

Yes. This I can not stand. Women who talk about their husbands like they are toddlers really piss me off. And of course men who are constantly belittling their wives.

That annoys me and disappoints me so much. Never, ever put your spouse down in public. Never fight, disagree, or mock them. Always every time no matter how you feel support, defend, praise, and love them in public. Defense of marriage isn't just fighting a law or judges. Its how you present yourself to everyone.

I told her that I thought I was a reasonably intelligent guy and I was tired of being treated like I was stupid. She said "well, don't do stupid things then."

Hint, ladies: its wrong to hit a woman. I oppose it in all circumstances except the old movie/hysterical woman clause. But you have to understand that a man's patience is limited. After a while, even the most noble, patient, and understanding guy will ball up that fist if you keep at him. And you'd have it coming, even if it was wrong.

"Sometimes the woman doesn't want the baby and it's her choice, she doesn't have to have it! So she goes to the doctor and the doctor makes the baby, which really isn't a baby yet, don't call it a baby, it's just cells, like toenail clippings, go away."

730 What a stupid thing for her to say. It is not significant that we may have all originated in the landmass now called Africa from which people with dark skin were enslaved in America leading to ongoing racial disparity.

What matters is that we are all human.

To the extent she meant that, she did it in the most weak-kneed, lilly-livered way possible, albeit resulting in a perhaps more offensive to SJW line.

It's like a politician scared to say "all lives matters" and comes up with "black lives matter....but we're all kind of black in a way which is cool because I like black people."
