Why Marco Rubio is a once-in-a-generation candidate

Rubio is clearly the most eloquent, inspiring, and optimistic. Whereas other candidates like Ted Cruz are more adept at preaching to the choir, hurling red meat, and channeling righteous indignation, Rubio is expert at selling a sunny brand of conservatism that one suspects might appeal to a more diverse and cosmopolitan America.

74 ED for private development has a place, where huge projects get hung up by a couple holdouts. But it has to go through a court (without bankrupting the holdout) and pay them well. And those cases should be few.

The bigger issue, is that Kelo smells like the start of the downward slope, toward little people getting pushed around by corporate interests on average dealings, and BigGov walks over private rights because they are bought. Camel nose under tent kind of deal.

Trump lost his deal with the parking lot house, but he probably should have had to pay her lawyer. Otherwise lawfare becomes the weapon against those in the way, if they don't have $50K (or whatever) to toss away in the fight.

http://tinyurl.com/hq7ydqr

Posted by: Vic-we have no party at February 07, 2016 06:14 AM (t2KH5)"---------------------------Well, sort of. 3H (tritium) is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen that as a half-life of about twelve and a half years. It decays into the harmless stable isotope of helium 3He. There is a hazard from tritium, but it all depends on the dosage. The article is not specific on how much is in the water, but it sounds as if it is not too high and that the tritiated water will likely be diluted pretty effectively. In lab environments, 3H is widely used, but you have to be careful with it. If you get any on your hands or feet, you can spread it around pretty effectively. The hazard with it is that if you ingest it, the tritium can combine with chemicals in your body, thereby irradiating you from inside. The beta particles from 3Hwould not otherwise be very dangerous (they don't penetrate). There's a similar situation with radon. It's a non-reactive noble gas and its radioactivity is not particularly dangerous (alphas don't go far). The big problem is if you breathe it in and it happens to decay to the radioactive metal polonium inside your lung, you just ingested a very dangerous radioactive source that's quite efficient at giving you lung cancer.

For those who don't recall, when he was in the House, he removed the lying under oath and obstruction of justice charges against Bill Clinton. These were the most damning charges and could have gotten him impeached and convicted.

As I have never seen one before, I spent a good part of the evening, and early Saturday cleaning, familiarizing myself and so forth.

It cleaned up nicely, and the leather holster looks in perfect condition now that it's been cleaned and conditioned. Barrel has some frosting to it, but the bluing is in very good condition.

Finally went to the range yesterday afternoon to take it for a test drive.

Interesting. Recoil is incredibly light for a round traveling at over 1600 FPS.

Impeachment was dead on arrival the day it came to the Senate, for a few reasons--the most obvious being public support for it, but also:

1. Our guys in Congress had already been neutered by Clinton on substantive fights by '98.

2. A hunch on my part, but I'd bet a bunch of politicians, including those on our side weren't about to remove somebody from office for lying about having an affair (even under oath), for reasons that you can probably guess.

3. Again, a hunch on my part, but we never did find out what happened to those FBI files that went missing early in the Clinton Presidency.

The paleontologist climbs up church steeples, crawl down mines, is 7 months pregnant and cute as a button. The water poured thru at a rate 300x Niagara Falls and the bridge destroyed in less than 3 weeks. You're welcome.

Of course it was, which is why a Senate that cared about a President being held to the rule of law shouldn't have tolerated it.

I'm just saying why they did. Say they had removed him. Clinton publicized all the dirt he could get on everybody who had voted to so and--I'm sorry to say it, but after Gingrich, Livingston, and the general reputation of politicians in DC--I bet that there was a lot of dirt.

I quite agree with you on the bolded part. I don't need an Hispanic Arafat as president saying one thing in English and another pandering thing in Spanish.

But after all the bullshit Cruz has had to deal with in the Senate, including being a 'wacko bird', having to call The Turtle a liar on the Senate floor, etc., why would Cruz believe anything stated about a bill -- and support it -- instead of reading the bill first before opining? Cruz is supposed to know the score, yet he fell into the 'oops didn't read the bill' trap once again. Does he not truly understand the anger at such Congressional shenanigans? One has to wonder. And I know Cruz is a smart guy but, then again, maybe not. Because 'being for a bill before he was against it' is truly tone deaf.

Guys, breast cream is a scam. If you're really serious about transitioning, see an endocrinologist and get on the estrogen. Even then, you'll most likely need to get implants.

172 No job I ever had would have survived 5 minutes after telling the boss "I did'nt read it before I signed it".

I'll still vote for Cruz if he gets the nom, but optics, dude, optics. Really tells ya what a kinder, gentler world the political class lives in.

Posted by: sock_rat_eez identifies as a wackobird hobbit at February 07, 2016 08:52 AM (Z8DIA)

A politician's definition of optics is quite different than your or my definition of optics. Their prisms are warped.

But I hear ya on the job concept. Signing onto shit before reading it is a firing offense in corporate America. I guess that's one more reason to waive those college student loans. They didn't read the fine print and, really, that's not their fault. It's just so teeny tiny you'd need a magnifying glass and three dozen lawyers each billing 100 hours a week to understand it.

173 "6 Indian Point NPP in NY has leaked tritium into the ground water beneath the site. Tritium is simply H3 and is not any kind of hazard."

Be careful what you believe of posts on sites such as this. Tritium is a deadly radioactive poison. During WWII, aircraft instruments has tritium paint dials (glow in the dark numbers). Watches had tritium glow in the dark dials. The women who hand painted the dials would "point" their brushes with their lips and tongue. It was soon noticed that those women had terrible lesions in their gums and jaw. A lot of deaths. We don't do that any more.

This is the reason for why you should be skeptical of everything, Particularly moronic statements as above.

As far as radioactive things go Tritium is a low emitter and not much of a hazard. The tritium activated watch/clock dials were actually phosphor that had a tiny bit of tritium mixed in it to cause it to glow. The women were probably being poisoned by the phosphor more than the tritium.

Posted by: rickl at February 07, 2016 08:41 AM (sdi6R)

Oh, there's a there there in Rubio.

It's just not what people want.

Remember, about this time last year when Rubio was getting ready to enter the race-

when he was asked about immigration or even some of Obama's policies-

his big stock answer was:

"We're never going back. We're never going back to the past."

In other words, he was embracing all of Obama's changes as did Boehner/McConnell/GOPe?Gang of 8/etc-

he was their stooge on stage. And, I believe it represents what he's all about.

That didn't play so well.

So, now, like Obama, he's been told not to go off script-

just stick to these poll-tested soundbites.

He seems to have about twelve of them.

There's a there there but as a nation we've already been there and didn't like it.

204 I'll say one thing for the Fat Man-

he is relentless when he smells blood.

Policy wise he's a disaster-

(big believer in AGW for one thing)

but I could see him as Veep or Head of the DOJ in a Cruz administration.

Someone's going to need to clean house of all the Obama/Dim operatives in gov't-

Christie could be the man for that job.
