I remember watching the Pro Bowl years ago, when it was played after the SB.

First half, the lines would be just holding hands and tackling was by accident.

But about midway through the third quarter, the competitive nature would surface.

And if the game was within reach, by the 4th quarter, it was game speed.

19 Forget the NFL this weekend. Today was the day for the NHL All-Star Game. Was absolutely fantastic!

Nashville put on a great show, as did the NHL stars on the ice.

3-on-3 tournament format was great. John Scott (write-in All-Star by fans) scored 2 goals, laid out Patrick Kane to the roaring approval of the hostile (to my Chicago Blackhawks) fans, dropped the gloves and got into a fake fight with Kane after he scored and then his team won the tournament.

And then to top it all off, the fans voted him All-Star MVP and he took home a new SUV.

Could not have happened to a better guy. The NHL orchestrated a trade of him from ARI to MTL and then MTL sent him to the AHL. All (allegedly) to keep him out of the All-Star game. Uprooted his family from ARI to Winnipeg (I think, where the AHL affiliate is located) when he has two small children and his wife is 9 months pregnant with twins.

But he handled it with all class. As did the fans in Nashville and the players at the All-Star game. Was so great and heartwarming to see.

For those who don't know about him, here's an article he wrote about the situation. Typically humble hockey player: http://bit.ly/1PIDtUW

One of my friends just posted a video on FB about a tribute to when the Pro Bowl was actually a game. Showed the highlight of Sean Taylor laying out a punter who was running the ball on (I think) a fake punt.

I haven't watched the Pro Bowl in years. It's basically 2-hand tag played at half speed. Boring.

Aliens are occupying Los Angeles. Outer space aliens not the real ones that are occupying it. There's a wall separating some areas for reasons not explained. Some humans are working with the aliens. And then there's a resistance group also.

62 From the Washington Times --

Wartime U.S. presidents have taken keen personal interest in picking the most lethal gun for the military. But in President Obama's first foray into small-arms procurement for the armed forces, his Jan. 4 executive order on gun control directs the Pentagon to find ways to make not so much more lethal firearms, but safer ones.

ACME sells a gun that pops out a flag that reads "Bang". I'm pretty sure this is what he has in mind.

Walsh is definitely someone I would love to party with (I never knew that "Life's Been Good" was basically autobiographical. Yes, he actually traveled with an electric chainsaw and literally tore out walls to fuck with his bandmates).

And Henley is worse than a pretentious asshole, he's a really creepy asshole. As in 15 yr-old hookers & coke creepy.

It's about the shitty food that Americans (and the world really) eat and how the obesity epidemic is due in large part to processed foods with too much sugar in them. And also how all the "low fat" and "low calorie" food sold is still crap, even more so in some cases.

There's a fair amount of "EVIL CORPORATIONS!!!!" are to blame. But that aside, it is a source of info on how crappy food is. This was preaching to the choir for me since I avoid processed food like the plague. But I'm in a small minority of people.

Gave me an info sheet on the process, and a Cruz flier. Today, a van was going through the neighborhood supporting 3 people going door to door. The previous guy didn't talk specifics much, but these guys were more interactive....who do you support, here's why you should support Cruz, etc. No other GOP people have been by all season. 170 Unless you've been to Iowa at this time before an election, you have no idea what an advertising blitz is like. Almost every commercial, radio and TV (and Youtube...not sure if that's targeted by area?) is political. Tons of fliers in the mail, billboards everywhere. The general election is nothing compared to this...14+ candidates, most in an existential crisis to get your vote, with millions of dollars to work for it...it's unbelievable. And they run the gamut from positive, negative, endorsement, weird (like Cruz's "Voting Violation" fliers).

I'll give feed back from my polling area. Johnston, Iowa, is a pretty well-off suburb north of Des Moines...a little more liberal than the State as a whole, as most urban areas tend to be.

200 The Wiki article about lye is informative:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lye

"Lyes are used to cure many types of food, including the traditional Nordic lutefisk, olives (making them less bitter), canned mandarin oranges, hominy, lye rolls, century eggs, and pretzels."

"Lower grades of lye which are unsuitable for use in food preparation are commonly used as drain de-cloggers and oven cleaners."

"In Mexico, a man who worked for drug cartels admitted to having disposed of more than 300 bodies with it."

202 I find it fascinating that so many Western governments have collectively abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens. What do they know that we don't? How much were they paid?
Because when they fail to protect their societies, we will do it ourselves. And they will answer for it.

She had rocks before we met. The money that would go towards new ones is better spent on home maintenance and repair.

206 Some doctor had his hand on the silicon pump when he inflated that cheerleader cutie. Momentarily distracted by a Bernie Sanders commercial, he made a mistake. He'd aimed for a C cup--and gave he a double D. Shame on him. She'll have to carry those things around for the rest of her life.
