I have a not terribly bright cousin who has taken advantage of some of this. I think they actually put you up in a dormish thing and teach you some sort of skill and then I guess try to help you get a job? She did one and washed out (maybe jobcorp) and now she's done some other training program and maybe actually has a job now. Some are only good for certain ages (under 25 maybe?).
