University of Oregon Debates Removing Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Content of His Character" Quote From Statue, Due to Not Being "Diverse" Enough

I imagine the problem is that when King said a man should not be judged on the color of his skin, but on the content of his character, this failed to be properly "intersectionalist" and take into consideration that patterns of White Oppression are present in biases against women, homosexuals, and transexuals as well.

And, no mention of the oppression of cis-speakers of a community's dominant language over trans-speakers or non-speakers, nor of Moos-lims, as Democrats now all pronounce it.

Plus, he said "man" and "he."

They decided to keep the quote, after some "hard thought," apparently.

So: Victory, i guess.

Meanwhile, a Georgia legislator sends this message to universities seeking state funds: either end your kangaroo court system and guarantee actual due process, or get ready to do without state money.

I confess that in my early days I was one of those awful people who wrote PhD theses for unqualified students. I did it for the cash, sadly.

The worst one, which still haunts me, happened when I was hired by a woman in the dance department getting her PhD, and she wanted me to "edit" her thesis.

Not only was it beyond illiterate, requiring a 100% total rewrite that left not a single word intact but the topic of the thesis was outrageous bullshit:

Some tribe in Africa had a neo-traditional dance, developed in the 19th century, in which they attempted to replicate British military regalia and uniforms, and the tribespeople would then march back and forth singing an out-of-tune version of "God Save the Queen" with misheard phonetic "lyrics." The thesis stated that in the past, racist anthropologists described the tribal dance as being simply an "imitation" of a British military tattoo, but that this analysis was incorrect; in reality, she claimed, the tribespeople were "making a devastating commentary on colonialism" by "mocking" the "white devils" blah blah blah.

However, when rewriting this thesis, I could find no evidence to support her claim. So when I returned the edited version to her, I included a note asking where the supporting evidence was, which one think might be a crucial element to a PhD thesis.

Her reply? The there was no physical evidence for her theory, it was "just something she thought up."

And yes, she got the degree, and is now a professor.

This in fact was one of my "turning points" in my shift away from leftism.
