t's a smart move by Palin. She's giving an endorsement when it matters to someone who will likely win the nomination and may win the Presidency. Donald Trump Lanister always pays his debts.
Palin especially helps Trump with the Holy Roller vote that Cruz was counting on in Iowa and again in SC. Even if Sarah's appeal has faded, she still has some sway with Evangelicals. If you believe the most recent poll which shows a Kasich surge in NH, Cruz could finish 3rd, 4th or even 5th there, which would call into question his national appeal. Cruz still has a shot in Iowa but his odds went down. If he doesn't win there, he'll want to bring back the Bromance. SCOTUS anyone, after a stint as AG? Palin's now back in the news cycle. Liberal heads will explode. Can you picture Rachel Maddow tonight? Endorsing Cruz wouldn't have had the same impact. Recall that Trump took Palin out for pizza in NYC in 2011 when she was doing her bus tour hinting at a White House run. Best Return on Investment ever! YUUUUUUUGE I tell you. We have an emoluments provision in our Constitution that prohibits any one holding a federal public office like Secretary of State from accepting anything of value from any King, Prince or foreign state without Congressional approval. We have a statute -- 18 USC 208 -- that prohibits US officials from acting on matters in which they or their spouse have a financial interest and which makes it a felony if done knowingly, a misdemeanor if not.
The Clintons clearly violated this with their Clinton Cash pay-for-play schemes. E-mails on Hillary's server which has been in the FBI's possession for several months can establish "knowing intent" to make it a felony. How can FBI Director Comey not make a criminal referral? If so, it'll leak to the public regardless of what Obama, Jarrett and Lynch do. In which case, how can Hillary continue to run? Posted by: Ignoramus at January 19, 2016 06:15 PM (r1fLd) 45

There is some major sh*t at stake here.
Presidents lie in their State of the Union speeches, Congress lies to their constituents and that is even protected speech now in advertising, Governors...mayors...etc. Then our institutions lie...FBI, IRS, State police, county and city...Media with the exception of Hollywood who insist a movie is based on a true story...of which the truth has 90 seconds of screen time. If Facts and Truth do not matter any more in our society, then why bother? In case anyone was alive and watching in Beirut back in the 80's...anarchy was devastating...but for awhile it was also, obviously, fun. A federal judge has rejected President Barack Obama's assertion of executive privilege to deny Congress access to records pertaining to Operation Fast and Furious, a gunrunning probe that allegedly allowed thousands of weapons to flow across the border into Mexico.
U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled Tuesday that the Justice Department's public disclosures about its response to the so-called "gun walking" controversy undercut Obama's executive privilege claim. "There is no need to balance the need against the impact that the revelation of any record could have on candor in future executive decision making, since any harm that might flow from the public revelation of the deliberations at issue here has already been self-inflicted," Jackson wrote. "The Department itself has already publicly revealed the sum and substance of the very material it is now seeking to withhold. Since any harm that would flow from the disclosures sought here would be merely incremental, the records must be produced." Posted by: El Chapo at January 19, 2016 06:21 PM (e8kgV) 81

On the birther thing, I was reading a lot. And I changed my mind. I tended to side with the argument that natural born citizen meant born on US soil or under territory under the sovereign control of the US.
However, after reading, I've decided Cruz is indeed natural born as the Framers intended. Natural born citizen, as they used it (you'll just have to read all the crap), meant a citizen at birth, one who didn't have to go through a naturalization process. The First Congress, made up of many of the Framers, soon passed a law that stated anyone born abroad of a father who was a citizen and meant certain minimum residency requirements, was a natural born citizen. Note it didn't say mother originally, I don't think. It was the father. But that was changed later. Anyway, I've decided that Cruz is indeed natural born per the way the Framers meant it. So, to be a natural born citizen "beyond the seas", as the original law passed by the first Congress said, your father had to be a US citizen who had been a resident for some minimum time. But a mother would not qualify.
How long to do you think that argument would last in any federal court? If anything, they'd say the 14th's Equal Protection Clause overrode that, and the mother would have to count as much as the father. The Court would rule, that "natural born citizen" means a citizen at birth, who didn't have be naturalized after birth. I'll pass on this story from a guy I met at a Palin/Tea Party group in 2011 in Los Angeles. I believe it was Californians 4 Palin. (The meeting was large, and I was surprised by the diversity -- lots of Latinos especially. It was during the peak of the excitement about her possible candidacy.) This guy was an ex-Marine and Viet vet who had been Palin's driver when she traveled to Searchlight, Nevada for a speech sometime before this. Palin asked to stop at a 7/11 or some such place on the highway to buy a soda. Inside, she ran into a woman with a kid with Down's Syndrome. She ended up talking to this woman for 45 minutes. The driver said the two were talking like old friends. He told me Palin was one of the nicest and most genuine people he's ever met in his many jobs as security detail and driver for VIPs.

In the end, I'm an American above and beyond all else. That banner trumps everything with me ultimately. If that makes me a nationalist, then I'll wear that badge with pride. We aren't just "an idea". We're a country founded on some ideas, but were are a nation and a people. You have to have that to have a foundation for the idea.
The elites are destroying that, happily. Your ideas are nothing if you aren't for the country itself. If you place your ideas above that nation, which what much of the elite do, then you are me are not on the same side, no matter if on paper we look to share some ideology. Taranto, a port in Italy. Where the Italian fleet was poised to be a threat to British convoys.
Until the Royal Navy launched a night torpedo attack with their Swordfish torpedo bombers. I just used to explain it that way to idiot leftists who used to bitch about being hit on 9/11 by bin laden from afghanistan and, therefore, we should never have anything to do with anything but those exact people in Afghanistan. So I used to describe WWII to them in that way and ask them if it was the right thing to do. Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at January 19, 2016 08:06 PM (zc3Db) 667

Torque Wrench those were the August maneuvers that were held in Louisiana. Stove pipe acted as howitzers. Trucks as tanks. Immediately after those maneuvers, two National Guard units were nationalized and shipped to the Pacific. One unit went to the Philippines and the other arrived in the Dutch East Indies just in time to surrender. Posted by: Anna Puma at January 19, 2016 08:02 PM (lJ28Y)" Wasn't there some other set of maneuvers at that time commanded by Patton that took place in the desert of California and Arizona? In any event, there was a National Guard artillery unit from Wise County, Texas that got shipped to the Philippines and wound up being ground support for a flight of B-17s in the Philippines. When the planes left, they flew to Dutch Indonesia and took their ground crews with them. When the planes left Indonesia, they left the ground crews behind and they spent the rest of the war in Japanese prison camps. Posted by: Obnoxious A-Hole at January 19, 2016 08:20 PM (QHgTq) 714

It will be interesting to watch. The next "phase" will come soon when Hills tries to throw someone under the bus (or a valued aid volunteers - looking at you Cheryl Mills). I think it is too far gone for that now, but they will try. The phase after that will be great drama worthy of a Hollywood movie: FBI and the IC will demand that she be prosecuted. They know how to play the DC game and will exert great pressure. We know O hates the Clintons but one must ask - what does Hills know that she can use to protect herself. For instance, I'm thinking she might know where O was on the night of Benghazi. Would be a shame if she were forced to testify under oath about that night.....that kind of thing.
