6 Trump News: Huge freaking crowd...

But, Trump managed to really fire up the crowd when he took on the media. He aimed specific fire at a CNN cameraman.

"These cameras back here right now - they will never show this crowd," he said to cheers, going on to spend about four minutes urging the cameraman to turn the camera and show the crowd. The cameraman did not acquiesce.

14 I thought I heard a voice cry, “Sleep no more! Current Events are murdering sleep.” Innocent sleep. Sleep that soothes away all our worries. Sleep that puts each day to rest. Sleep that relieves the weary laborer and heals hurt minds. Sleep, the main course in life’s feast, and the most nourishing.

Oh to sleep, perchance to dream rather than suffer slings and arrows of cruel fate. 'Tis better to be awake and face the evil that lurks in the heart of men. Nay! I cry.

Just let me sleep!

20 Despite still feeling like crap, spent about an hour at Cabela's yesterday looking at ammo.

I really need to accept the fact that other then online sales, there is no reason to involve myself with Cabela's.

Same UMC 9mm that Sportsman's guide has for $11.68 was over $14.00 at Cabela's.

Not that I normally shoot UMC, but just as a comparison.

And from there, it just got worse..

Jack O'Brian, a supporter of Senator Joseph McCarthy, wrote a series of published attacks on CBS News and WCBS-TV reporter Don Hollenbeck, which may have been a major factor in Hollenbeck's eventual suicide, referenced in the 2005 motion picture Good Night, and Good Luck -- or not.

It's amazing that reporters can attack everyone else but wilt like dainty flowers when they get it back. Regardless, Hollenbeck's suicide was related to his failing health. He had a bleeding ulcer, was married three times, was impulsive, prone to depression and drank excessively. His last wife had left him and taken his daughter with her.

The interesting part of this story is that Jack O'Brian's daughter, Kate O'Brian, is president of Al Jazeera America.
I dont know how anyone in good conscious can work for Al Jizz.

25 I really need to accept the fact that other then online sales, there is no reason to involve myself with Cabela's.

Even with online sales, Cabela's shipping rates are outrageous. I got two $25 gift cards for Cabella's this Christmas. I need two new clips for my Ruger 10-22, so I go to their online site and order them. I get to the end of the checkout process, only to find that with tax and shipping (they added State sales tax on the shipping charge as well as the price of the clips) the total was over $50. Since I didn't want to put CC info in for the couple of bucks needed, I decided to have the clips sent to the store nearest me for pick up, at no extra charge. The thing that got me was that the standard shipping was $8.95, their "priority" shipping, which would get the package here one day sooner, was $15.95, and overnight would have cost $33. ! That's a lot for a six ounce package. Anyway, I don't shop in store much, and now I know better than to hunt a bargain on their online store either...

36 Last day of vacation blues.

Tell me about it. Laid up for the last 3 days with a horrible chest cold. Nice vacay, laying on the couch, alternating between sweating out fever dreams and hocking up yellow loogies. And, of course, I'm finally feeling (relatively) better on the last day of vacation.

Might have to ask my boss if I can work from home tomorrow even though I'm supposed to be in the office, as I don't see myself being 100% by tomorrow.

At least I feel well enough today to watch some football. The splitting headache and complete lack of attention span the last several days would have prevented that.

41 19 Can't stop traipsing through the site Flashbak. It's addictive.

I'm a fan too, but lately I've been noticing something disturbing about their old photo sets: they seem to delight in mocking regular, everyday folks. It's very subtle. Look at what photos they choose to use and why they chose those particular photos. Go to the source and see where they got the pics, then consider which ones they chose to use and which ones they didn't.

It's slowly dawned on me over many months that there's an insidious elitism at work there. Now that I've cracked their code, I see it easily.

So I tend to go for their stuff on old computers and old TV shows and movies and such, and ignore the articles that are along the lines of: "Haw haw, let's all laugh at these dorky white-bread Americans celebrating Christmas in 1955 in Bumblefuck, Montana."

58 One thing I did manage to do while laid up for days was to watch the late Orson Welles film "Chimes at Midnight" on Youtube.

It's been on my movie bucket list for ages, and now I can check it off.

My verdict: One of the best Shakespeare adaptations I've seen. Amazing how he pulled it off despite the many travails he went through just to get it made. The celebrated Battle of Shrewsbury scene is everything it's cracked up to be; just stunning. Many other great scenes such as the Rejection Scene where the newly-crowned Henry V turns Falstaff away and quite literally breaks his heart.

Welles didn't really capture Falstaff's raucous, humorous side very well, but I don't think that's what he was going for. His Falstaff was a guy whose days as a wild, hard-drinking, hard-loving heathen are well behind him, with death fast approaching, and he knows it. I thought the scene where Prince Hal subtly slips into Falstaff's place in bed with Doll Tearsheet was a perfect little summation of his take on Falstaff.

I very much recommend "Chimes at Midnight." I see that there's a restoration currently making the big city art-house rounds, but for those of us in flyover-country, YouTube will have to do.

I'm still reading it, myself.

The Trump visit to Biloxi MS last night was a BFD, as our idjit VP likes to say. The Coliseum holds 13.5 k and it was close to capacity according to local news WLOX. If he's a flash in the pan, it must be a pretty deep pan.

82 >>75 I don't think Blogging While Fat is that unusual, Lea.

Ha! Maybe not. But these seem to be of the 'look at this awesome picture of fat people in underwear and be happy'
Types. Although that sounds like a different kind too.

I'm only seeing Bernie bumperstickers and lawn signs. Nothing for Hillary. I'd like to see Bernie pull an upset and give Hillary an early exit

87 Jesus, I take some time off for a well-deserved rest and everybody goes into armed insurrection. You were supposed to wait until AFTER I completed the trebuchet!

I've seen a lot of Hillary support on the south side, TQM. But this is heavy-ass machine here and the capos follow orders.

90 "Quentin Tarantino considers the
Confederate flag the 'American swastika' "
This from a guy who loves, lervs, him some "N" word.

He is an odd looking little man who hides behind his money who makes crappy overrated films full of violence, hate and sexual perversion. But the Confederate battle flag is bad......got it. He needs to be smacked so hard his momma would taste it....

91 Remember the good old days when the first child born in the New Year was celebrated rather than now when in Chicago and other DEM controlled cities it's the first person gunned down which makes the biggest news. Just last night:

3 critically wounded in Gold Coast shooting; 12 others shot citywide

Thank you Obama and the progressives, which really aren't very progressive at all.

93 I'm heading down to OR this afternoon with a couple of long guns to show my support. You pasty armchair commandos can continue to support the racist and PC NFL from your comfy recliners today. Don't get hurt reaching for a beer.
