Andy McCarthy: The Government Has Been Systematically and Completely Forbidding Intelligence Agents to Look Into Islamic Sentiments Since Before 9/11, And It's Only Gotten Worse Under Obama

Required reading.

There are two important parts of this. The first important part is McCarthy's contradictions of Obama's spin on this man-made disaster. Obama has, once again, caused people to suffer for his ideology, and he has returned to his old habits of lying and blame-shifting.

It is not enough to say that these signs of the Islamist mindset were missed by security and intelligence agencies. Our government chose to miss them.

As a matter of policy, the Department of Homeland Security -- the bureaucratic behemoth created after 9/11 to enhance protection of our country - -avoids looking at, much less scrutinizing, the publicly available social-media commentary of aliens who seek visas to enter the United States, including from Islamic countries that are jihadist strongholds. You read that correctly.

Now that the story of shocking recklessness is out, the administration is scrambling for cover. The policy, officials stammer, was not really written down and was, in any event more like a loose guideline than a real rule. That is simply false.

The guidance was mandatory, and it even ignited a furious intramural clash at DHS.

In the end, Secretary Jeh Johnson personally refused to countermand the guidance, siding with DHS's Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (the radicalism of which is on a par with the Justice Department’s infamous Civil Rights Division) over Homeland Security agents who were worried about, you know, security. Press reports suggest that the guidance was “secret”: adopted out of concerns about antagonizing civil-rights activists in the wake of the hysteria over surveillance provoked by Edward Snowden. Alternatively, the Obama administration floats the suggestion that scrutinizing the social-media commentary of visa applicants would be (a) too difficult because people like Malik use pseudonyms and privacy protocols, and (b) too time-consuming because there are millions of applications. Visa applicants are aliens. They have no right to enter the U.S. and no civil rights under the U.S. Constitution. Each of these rationalizations is bogus.

I've quoted a lot, so I will not quote from the next important part.

However, I'll tell you about it.

The Obama Administration has imposed an intelligence doctrine called "Combating Violent Extremism" (CVE). Among the most important parts of this doctrine is the insistence, essentially, that terrorists have a first amendment right to terrorism.

Yes, that's basically what it boils down to. The CVE insists that no intelligence analyst ever "conflate" belief in certain ideas with any kind of a support for terrorism.

The rationale is this: You cannot punish beliefs and statements. You can only punish actions.

Well, that's true (mostly -- if your statement is direct and unambiguous enough, an exhortation to break the law can be criminal).

But it's also irrelevant. Because the CVE directive doesn't just tell agents they cannot prosecute statements or beliefs; it actually bars intelligence agents from asking about statements or beliefs, or from using statements and beliefs in any part of an investigation.

Not just a ban on prosecution for belief in fundamentalist, jihadi Salafist ideology -- which I suppose most would agree with (begrudgingly). But a ban of any analyst even starting an investigation of someone based on such a belief.

Consider the Lincoln Assassination, and assume, hypothetically, the identity of the assassin was not immediately known. Imagine Booth wore a mask, or retreated back into the corridor connecting to the balcony without being spotted, after killing Lincoln.

Now, Booth was a fairly well known Southern partisan who despised the "Northern War of Aggression."

The Obama Doctrine states that not only could Booth not be prosecuted for his secessionist sympathies -- fair enough on that -- but that his known, public support of the Southern cause could not even be inquired into by investigators attempting to figure out who killed Lincoln.

Well, gee fellas, if someone kills the man leading the Union Army during the Civil War, I think it would be a useful investigative aid to know who in Washington DC that week had strong southern sympathies -- don't you?

And while Booth's public support for the South could not itself land him in prison -- I think that support could justify asking him where he was on the night of the premier of Our American Cousin, n'est-ce pas?

Of course, Obama's policy would not apply to Booth, as it does not apply to Christians. The media and the government wasted no time inquiring into Lewis Dean's ideology.

This policy exist for the benefit of one group and one group only -- Muslims and the Islamists that swim among them.

Any sort of right-tilting ideological statements can be used in an investigation; just not any statements regarding an adherence to hardline jihadist Islam.

And who advised the Obama Administration that this was what was necessary to not appear to be "at war with all Muslims"?

Well I know the answer so I won't be coy: Among the groups advising the Obama Administration, and in the forefront of pushing this idea that Islam shall never be asked about in an investigation, is the Muslim Brotherhood, the terrorist organization Obama connived to hand the country of Egypt over to as part of his would-be alliance wit them.

So, going back to our 1865 analogy: This would be like asking Jefferson Davis what questions would be appropriate to discover Lincoln's Assassin.

Steve Coughlin has a new book out on this -- it is not just scandalous but impeachable, the degree to which the Obama Administration has taken the advice of terrorists and terrorist sympathizers as to how best to investigate terrorists and terrorists sympathizers, without making terrorists and terrorist sympathizers mad.

Like I said, the article is required reading.

Not that I like Trump all that much, his remarks on eminent domain and some other personal-liberties issues quite quickly pushed him to the bottom of my list of acceptables (though still undoubtedly preferable to any current Democrat candidate), but this is one matter on which he's right and just about everyone else is wrong.

there is no civil right or constitutional right for non citizens to enter this country

barring entry to this country is not a criminal prosecution

they should be able to ask a person about their beliefs and if they believe in jihad exclude them from entry to this country

by doing so we are not "punishing" someone for theri beliefs, we are simply denying them entry into our country

33 There is no worse sin in Obama's America than being a racist. But being racist only works one way: a Black or member of an aggrieved group like a Muslim can never be racist.  What flows from this is the Double Standard. We must racially profile some of the time, hence Affirmative Action, but not when common sense requires, e.g. police work, visa applications.

70 There is a massive disconnect on the issue of rights that is now being brought into stark relief.

The Left believes, sincerely, that there is some type of fundamental right of every person on the planet to come to America at that person's will.

Why this is so when the same people vilify America is beyond my internet psychology.

The Right believes it is patently obvious that those who seek to come here are allowed in only at our will. We could say no one with blue eyes gets in and there's not one legal issue with that at all.

It's back to the problem that the two sides aren't even using the same language to discuss reality.

Now, today, we learn that DHS was ordered to ignore activities of Muslims.

171 Next to the free right to immigrate to America, I'd put the misguided notion of Free (right to) Trade.

We only trade if it is good for US. If China shows they can more cheaply produce the marginal unit of widgets by stealing our technology, bribing our politicians, using disposable slave labor, cheating on production standards, and polluting like crazy .. that doesn't mean we are obligated to buy their cheaper product. Especially if they are building supersonic weapons to destroy US.

This "globalism" concept is a canard all the way down. John Lennon on LSD could Imagine there are no borders, but he's dead. America First. Good men died for this thing.

Business owners should be allowed to hire or fire people based on whatever they want. It's their business, not "society's". Of course, unions being given ownership rights over businesses that they work for is even more insane.

If Sam's Club hates white men then they should be allowed to not only not hire or fire all white men but they should be allowed to not offer any services to white men.

The legislation from Goodlatte's committee would require in-person interviews for both the immigrant applying for the visa and the U.S. citizen sponsor at each step of the vetting process, the panel said. 240 Baltimore jury is back to deliberating.

I lost a bet on the OJ trial where I would have won with a hung jury or a conviction, but lost on an acquittal. Other guy was tipped by a prosecutor uncle who called the outcome as soon as he saw the jury that got picked. That's because he knew the jury members had to go back to the 'hood when it was over.

Judge in Baltimore case has refused a change of venue, and has refused to sequester the jury.

Will the jury convict on a lesser charge? Will that prevent a riot?

Baltimore murders are up over 40% for 2015 with only half a year of the Freddie Gray effect. Shootings are up 80% for the same period. This is directly attributable to the Baltimore police being far less proactive. Baltimore now has nearly as many homicides as far larger Chicago.

Any conviction of any of the cops involved will seal this.

This is the kinda shit that makes Trump look good to so many people. He's tapped into the outrage that so many are feeling and when people no longer believe they are represented they turn to a populist who taps into their emotions. I'm in a hotel in Lansing, MI going to a meeting in Syria Midwest (Dearborn) tomorrow. I'm going to do my best to not have my head explode from all this bullshit knowing that somewhere in that city 8% of the population believes terrorism is good.

257 Dear Bob (or whomever has AOSHQ assigned to them today),

We American citizens (yes, citizens, not alien residents) actually are pissed off that the Yuuuuge apparatus of the DHS is being used to spy on us.
There are those of us who through political affiliation with leftwing causes, applaud your focus on the so-called right wing, as ordered by DOJ heads and higher up. But those people aren't the majority.
The majority just want you to do your fucking jobs, which is to keep the citizenry safe from attack, which includes terrorism. The majority aren't even political until a week before elections, and a week after, go back to their lives.

But you know that already, don't you? It's just that you have so much time on your hands, what with being ordered NOT to investigate actual threats, that you know the American people better than they know themselves.

Does it make you feel good knowing what Joe Skoronski from Peoria is thinking, but not what Imam Abdullah Mohammed Mohammed Akbar Azis is preaching?

If you're wondering why Americans have such a distrust of their own government these days, wonder no more.

Sincerely,
Millions of expendable cannon fodder formerly known as Americans.

261 And once again, history / facts / events prove Trump to be right, no matter how inelegantly he frames his off the cuff statements.

Please note before flaming me that it pains me to admit this, but Trumps says "hey - some people coming here from Mexico are bad!" and 2 weeks later, an American is murdered by .... a person from Mexico. Then Trump says "hey, we need to pause immigration to this country until we can figure out what the government is doing wrong!" And two weeks later, it turns out that the government is not just incompetent (missed a fake address) but willfully blind.

What concerns me the most, however, is how quickly facts come spilling out, and comprehensive articles are written about what went wrong. If all these writers and witnesses knew all this before, and apparently they did given how quickly really thorough articles are hitting the interwebs, then why are we ordinary Americans just now finding out?

Then why aren't all the people on the No-fly list in jail for "what they've done?" And really, isn't a conviction the only way to know what somebody is legally considered to have done? And yet, the Obama administration themselves started this meme that if you are a suspect on the No-fly list (and not even you--just *your name*), that you shouldn't be able to buy a gun like the rest of the boys and girls.

The administration refutes itself again and again.
