Website Sneers Down a North Carolina Town For Rejecting Solar Energy Out of "Fears" The Solar Panels Would Suck All the Energy Out of the Sun

So, the first question one has to ask about any media story: Are they just lying?

Well, it may bear on this question that the site's source for this story is a story by.... drum roll... The Huffington Post.

Andy McCarthy looks into it and discovers it's yet another Big Media Lie. The town refused to re-zone the area to allow solar farm over questions about how it might impact their home values. One single dummy at the open hearing expressed this dumb "suck the energy out of the sun" idea.

That became, through progressive propaganda magic, the concern of the whole area. In a way that that Congressman's fear that Cuba might "tip over" if too many people got aboard it did not become the fears of the whole Democrat party.

McCarthy concludes, as he's concluded a lot lately:

It is not news any more. It is just narrative, written for the entertainment of like-minded narrators. That’s why increasing numbers of turned off Americans no longer turn it on.

I don't think that word "narrative" is strong enough. It's a codeword that only some people understand.

What this is is a tribal truth, a cult dogma. It's not a real truth -- it's a "truth" that is insisted on being true by the cult believers, because the cult believers need to demonize the non-believers and elevate themselves into the circle of the anointed.

Very little of what we talk about in "news" is actual "news" anymore. The newspapers are just the newsletters of a large and very intellectually insecure cult.

Correction: This wasn't the Washington Post. Sorry, I misread -- McCarthy said it was the Washington Examiner, but it wasn't that; it was the "DC Examiner," which is basically an open forum for imbeciles.

Sorry for the mistake.

That said, my mistake is only one of timing: I bet you any number of dollars that the media will be picking up on this lie soon enough.

33 The problem from the left's perspective is that the real world and leftwing ideology are drifting more and more apart.

You can see this with global warming.

There was a real increase in temperature for a number of years...and the left built this into a theory that would mandate their complete control of the economy.

But then the warming stopped. So first the left argued that global warming could make things hotter...and no one believed that.

Then the argued that the heat was ...hiding... under their beds, or maybe in a part of the ocean no one was looking at...but no one believed that either.

So they just faked the data and suddenly global temperatures have been going up...no pause honest!

The left doesn't really believe in reality as an objective construct anyway, so changing the narrative to them is the same as changing the facts.

115 The Obama administration is waging a quiet effort on Capitol Hill to restore U.S. taxpayer funding for a United Nations organization that has long been accused of having an anti-Israel bias, according to State Department funding requests obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The State Department earlier this month petitioned Sen. Patrick Leahy , a member of the Senates appropriations committee, to consider restoring funding to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, otherwise known as UNESCO.

Taxpayer funding to the organization was cut in 2011 after UNESCO accepted Palestine as a member state, a move that violated U.S. law barring the funding of any U.N. group that skirts the peace process by prematurely admitting Palestine as a full member nation.

The cutoff in U.S. contributions, which totaled around $80 million annually, brought UNESCO to the brink of financial collapse and sparked further consideration of actions deemed by critics to be anti-Israel in nature.

In its petition to Leahy, the State Department asks for a funding waiver in the 2016 appropriations bill that would allow the U.S. government to restart yearly payments of $76 million to UNESCO. The administration also is seeking authority to give the organization up to $160 million to help erase outstanding debts.

Let's see if the RINOs sell us out on this one also while they also gut the Military Health and Commissary systems

143 Actually... enough solar panels worldwide could cause climate change.... colder.

The Suns energy being converted to electricity would no longer be absorbed by the Earths surface, thus cooling it.

A slightly colder surface would then conduct less energy back into the atmosphere.... thus a very slight cooling trend...

Over time, with enough Solar panels being used worldwide, this net drain of Heat Energy being siphoned off for other purposes, could impact our environment.

Anyone up for a Solar Panel induced Ice Age????

She was worried because she was being surrounded by solar farms. Ars Technica helpfully put up a Google map showing no solar farms anywhere close to the woman's property.

What Ars Technica did not mention is that although there are no other solar farms near the woman's property yet, several have been issued permits.

248 "The surface of the solar panel consists of a series of circular areas filled with fine granular particles. When direct rays of sunlight strike the surface of the panel hundreds of thousands of tiny sun fleas emerge from the periphery of the circles, spreading out onto the sandy surface, absorbing the warmth of the sun. After applying tanning lotions and basking for several minutes the sun fleas turn over in order to get an even all over tan. The rotational energy of the fleas turning over is transmitted to micro-turbines at the upper and lower ends of the panel, resulting in the production of energy. The biggest loss of efficiency in this process occurs if the sun fleas happen to turn in opposite directions, therby canceling each other out. A well regulated sun flea population is necessary for the efficient production of solar electricity."

For the chill'uns, (1) Keep Mommy happy,

Things I learned in the corporate world for dealing with the CEO & his wife.

If momma ain't happy, ain't no one happy.

258 If someone ever bio-engineers a scaleable crop that actually yields more energy than the extraction process requires ...

... environmentalists will oppose it. Mark my words.

One catch. You have to go to the closed school to get it.

262 ... and you know, upon further review, the North Carolina skeptic may be onto something. Bear with me.

If solar ever becomes scaleable AND portable, Progressives will oppose it. Can you imagine them being happy with your ability to live off the grid, anywhere you want, with true energy independence ?

Hell no you can't.

So, what will be the rationale to oppose it ? How about the yet undiscovered delicate balance between heat loss from Gaia into space ... which, conveniently enough, is perfectly balanced by the transfer of thermal energy into the planet itself via sun rays ? So - by erecting solar panels - one would actually be stealing the thermal energy meant for Mother Earth.

Or ... In layman's terms ... sucking all the energy out of the sun.

263 In fairness to the HuffPo, Northampton County did vote for Obama by a 2-1 margin, so it's reasonable to believe the citizens could be this stupid.

So on top of everything else, Cortines - who replaced John Deasy, who got rung up in his own right - is a shirtlifter.

I don't claim to have any clue of what im talking about, but the suns rays are either reflected or absorbed as far as I know, so solar panels would just be an efficient form of absorption, they can't suck rays out of the sun, they simply take what the sun gives them.

268 "If someone ever bio-engineers a scaleable crop that actually yields more energy than the extraction process requires"

good grief ... that is one of the oldest lies, that it "takes more energy to produce ethanol than it can generate", or some such. It's true there is conservation of energy, but most of that energy is solar, for corn. It is almost competitive with gasoline, which also takes energy to extract and produce.

Hearing Levin spout so much nonsense about ethanol yesterday was disappointing. A mandate does kinda suck, but it is a use for the abundance produced, and helps stabilize our food producers. But maybe all farms should just go corporate, and we can import the third world to do the work for cheap?

Saving farm communities (all that red on those red/blue maps) is not the same as subsidies for Solyndra or carbon credits.

270 ''Thanks God, they are panicked of everything.

English is evidently not the first language of soldier boy for the Caliphate, eh?

" The soldiers of the Caliphate will look after you until the world will be under the rule of Allah,'' wrote one supporter.

Look after me? Does that mean you'll pay my next oil heating bill or buy my groceries, solder boy for the Caliphate? I will never be under the rule that has Mohamed as a prophet

Another responded with, ''Oh God, never make them safe. Put panic in their hearts.''

No panic in my heart, soldier boy for the Caliphate.
I know who I belong to. It's not to a religion that has Mohammed as a prophet, you little murdering coward.

272 The articles also didn't note that the town voted 2:1 for Bronco in the last election.
Or that it just over 50% "non-white", said "non-whites" being 49% blacks below the poverty level.
So just who were those "hicks" with strange ideas about light absorbing solar panels and such?
