Obama Lays Out Four Point Plan to Appear to Care About ISIS

In concluding remarks that ended just minutes ago, Obama laid out his plan:

1. Put on his "serious face."

2. Relentlessly reassure the American public that he cares about ISIS. Hey, you saw the serious face didn't you?

3. Commit additional resources to supplying the press with helpful stories and begin air-dropping political ammunition to Democratic allies.

4. Ride this huge, totally not fake global warming victory for all it's worth.

38 If you ever take the tour of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, they will take you through Congress Hall and tell you the story of George Washington stepping down from the Presidency for John Adams.

It seems that many of the foreign guests on that day of March 4, 1797 thought that by hook or crook by the end of the day George Washington would be dead. Transfers of power always worked that way.

Barack Obama makes you want to believe that those foreigners were right.

It is an interesting question.

I've also noticed the media is now defining ISIS as "Islamic State in Iraq and Syria" which is not what it stands for. It stands for the "Islamic State in Iraq and al Sham."

My guess about the ISIL thing? He's using the French colonial "Levant" instead of "al Sham" since, while they largely mean the same thing, al Sham goes from the Sinai to the bottom corner of Turkey, while the Levant does not include any of Turkey.

A tiny difference, but maybe the Turks got huffy about it?

47 If we want him to care about ISIS like he cares about climate change we will have to set up a summit in a sophisticated city with luxury hotels and superb cuisine, with many celebrities - a plethora - in attendance, red carpets at all of the venues, fine wines, and top-shelf liquors.

Plus, naming the conference city will provide plenty of opportunities to bribe and be bribed, so we'll have that going for us.

The AoSHQ Global Caliphate Conference nominee cities are Rome, Madrid, Vancouver, Sydney, and ....

Help me - where should the fifth nominee city be (and it has to be somewhere rich so we can pull in the loot - the Ewok needs a golden comb.)

al Sham includes Israel, too.

The only difference I can find (looking at maps of the two spaces) is that the Levant did not include any part of Turkey, while al Sham included one border city in Turkey.

Otherwise, the two terms mean the same thing.

Being Persian, my father would occasionally name mideast countries in their native pronunciations, as a matter of instruction to my brother and me. He would never pronounce this shit in public this way because he understood what fucking country he was in and who his audience was. His language , manners, idiosyncrasies were all molded in total assimilation to American(read Texan) culture.

Whenever I hear obama say Paki-ston I think it's signaling to the other progtards that he's "In the know". Problem is, it's the only word he says like that. If your going to pronounce words like in their native country, then do it for all countries, right? Yes it's Paki-ston, but it's also Afganni-ston, E-ron(Iran), E-rok(Iraq), Dew-bay(Dubai), to name a few. Hell, he should be saying Nipon instead of Japan. 196 "I'm more angry at the GOPe for running a weak liberal in 2012."

Not only a weak liberal, but one with Wall Street ties. At a time when swing voters, and even a lot of voters on the right, were still pissed off about Wall Street helping cause the 2008 financial bust and then getting cozily bailed out at public expense.

Romney had nothing to do with any of that, but he as a longtime Wall Streeter and MBA businessman was never going to be able to escape being tarred with that brush.

Also, as others in the Horde have noted, 2010 was a referendum election on Obamacare, and Democrats got trounced. 2012 could have been a second referendum election on Obamacare. Instead the GOP ran the guy who had signed into law the state level prototype for Obamacare.

Romney then not only avoided attacking Obamacare, he has made clear in his post-2012 comments that he privately viewed it as a boon.

258 Donald Trump

Replace ObamaCare with Universal Health Care

60 Minutes Interview
YouTube
http://tinyurl.com/h5ed2lt

Pelley: How do you fix it?

Trump: There's many different ways, by the way. Everybody's got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, "No, no, the lower 25 percent that can't afford private. But--"

Pelley: Universal health care.

Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now.

Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of. How? How?

Trump: They're going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably--

Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?

Trump: --the government's gonna pay for it.

And the Taxachoositz plan was already circling the bowl in 2012; rate increases, followed by rates frozen, followed by lawsuits, followed by waiting lists. Yet another reason why Romney was a poor choice in 2012. EVERYTHING obamacare is experiencing now was not merely forecast; it was preceded by other shitshows.

But to attack it was to attack himself.

Romney could have lied through his teeth about how RomneyCare was a mistake and ObamaCare a disaster and I think he still would have lost. Generic Republican was trouncing Obama two years earlier and there really wasn't anything but a slight bump up in the economy between 2010 and 2012. Heck, I believe independents went for Romney at a percentage that normally equates to victory.

I'm subscribed to the celebrity theory, where the LIV goes with whoever is most famous, regardless of how they reached that fame. It's why Trump has a very good chance of winning it all. And it helps that he's latched on to an issue that doesn't stop rewarding him. At the very least he's smashing Overton windows.

I find it amusing, though, that the media keeps trying to paint Trump as some sort of cartoonish villain, while giving him publicity that only increases his popularity. I suspected this could happen, and it has come to fruition. As usual, the media is to blame.

282 By the by, while other countries are bombing the Islamic State in norther Syria, what the Russians are doing is bombing the living shit out of the Turkmen there.

When Erdogan ordered the shooting down of that Russian Sukhoi, among the stated rationales for it was "protection" of Ankara's Turkmen friends on the other side of the border in Syria.

Putin said coldly that they would just see about that.

Up until that point, the only Turkmen who were getting bombed by the Russians were ones who were so proximal to known IS positions that it was clear they were collaborating, or at least doing business, with IS.

Now just being a Turkman will merit a Russkie bomb run. A simple enough lesson and one that will resonate in Middle Eastern strong-horse cultures. Don't be an ally of Moscow's enemy. It's dangerous to do so.

That said, there's no way pragmatically to get the Federal government out of healthcare. We can start with reforms that have already been put forth including tort reform, selling insurance across state lines, etc.

It's important to not provide coverage to illegals. Not to be hard hearted, but it feeds a vicious adverse cycle.

So what we're stuck with is trying to make it fairer and cheaper by spreading the cost and making policies looser and able to be purchased across state lines. And other mods. But State run health care isn't going away unless the entire edifice of government collapses. And that may happen.

326 If anyone thinks the GOPe, even in a modified condition if a conservative becomes President, will ever actually repeal Obamacare then you're not living in a state of reality and should check into a mental facility.

So what we're stuck with is trying to make it fairer and cheaper by spreading the cost and making policies looser and able to be purchased across state lines. And other mods. But State run health care isn't going away unless the entire edifice of government collapses. And that may happen.

However You will find ample Scripture references to back this up (ie duty to the state) regardless of someone saying nonsensically, "I have an in with God and he says it's o.k. to break one rule." ?!!!! There are plenty of others prayers such as "God, forgive our sims as a nation and please protect our country from all enemies foreign and domestic; Give wisdom and love our country to our leaders." etc.

Not, it wasn't. That same GOP passed handfuls of must-pass funding bills and debt-limit raises. They never tried to leverage any of them. In fact, they speicifically said that they wouldn't, because fully funding Barky in all of his America-killing policies was more important to them than doing away with BarkyCare.

Look at what the Weeping Boner did on his way out and then tell me about how the Vichy GOP tried to fight ANYTHING Barky had done.

yeah ... I remember when they talked about how they were going to stop his insane, un-Constitutional tyrannical theft of power to legalize his pet illegals, stomping all over Congress and the Constitution in the process. Whatever ever became of that? Oh yeah! Rubio and the rest of the Vichy GOP jumped in and tried to out-treason Barky in giving aid and comfort to invading illegals and called me a bigot and a racist for wanting the Rule of Law followed and the Constitution respected. They called me names because I believe in the importance of the concept of the nation-state and the notion of sovereignty.

Well I didn't mean all people who are cheering Trump now. Most of the people here who are boosting him are doing so because its a big fat finger in the face of the GOP and a physical expression of anger and frustration with years of federal government corruption, incompetence, and evil.

But for those who actually support him and want to see him in office, the boosters who love Trump... its like glassy-eyed cult zealotry. It simply doesn't matter what he says or does, or is. Its like with Obama supporters: the idea of who he is and what they have shaped him to be in their minds matters more than reality.

I think you have a naive assumption that things can't get worse.

John McCain was the ultimate Establishment RINO, and him getting his teeth kicked in by Obama in 2008 didn't make things better as far as I'm concerned. Or Romney losing in 2012.

If the game plan is to make sure leftwing democrats win at the ballot box in order to teach a lesson to certain people, might be easier to cut out the middle man and just join the other team.

Apparently this strategy is too fucking hard to figure out though.

I never argued that Trump was a conservative. I argued that you were being untruthful about his current positions. He is not for socialized medicine. He was. He said exactly that but he isn't anymore. He does want to repeal BarkyCare and has a questionable replacement in mind (which is only a little less problematic than Mittens' was) but is not looking to institute single-payer.

Trump is solid on the most important issues and is more intent on repealing BarkyCare than Mittens ever was (though he also has the silly replacement bullshit thing going, but that doesn't put him behind anyone in the GOP outside of Cruz). Trump appreciates the notino of sovereignty, loves America and wants this nation to be a winner, again - which is a major change and a major difference from the Vichy GOP, which is all about giving aid and comfort to invading illegals.

In the 60 minutes Interview, he clearly states he wants Universal Health Care and say it's a "non-republican" thing but that he wants it. This was from like 12 weeks ago.

And when Trump ran for President in 2000 under the Reform Party, he also stated he wanted single payer health care. So at least on this issue, he's been consistent

You don't like Trump. That's fine. I hated Trump for decades. But he knows what the major problems are and has identified them on his own, without any prodding from anyone. He has taken loads of shit from people and has not wavered in them. I trust his sincerity in this, which is the major difference between him and Rubio in terms of assessing their current positions. Rubio has proven himself to be totally untrustworthy. You disagree or seem to think that there is no such thing as a person assessing the sincerity of another, then that's your position. But don't try to make that as some sort of objective argument. it fails miserably in that respect.

Yes, he said that he wants universal coverage but that is not single payer. You do know the difference, right?

I don't like his idea of universal coverage but he is not talking about socialized medicine. Cold comfort in that, but there is a distinction. His serious desire to repeal BarkyCare is the more important part, for now.

447 Universal coverage = socialized medicine, he said he wants the government to pay for everyone.

No, that's not what he said. He was talking about the uninsured, not everyone. he is NOT talking about socialized medicine. What he is talking about is problematic but it is most certainly not single-payer. Look up the difference if you don't understand.

Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of. How? How?

Posted by: Coolio at December 14, 2015 03:08 PM (KaEpw)

yeah ... he's talking about making deals with hospitals. He probably wanted to say something about states in this. He thinks he's going to be able to make some deal to get the uninsured covered for whatever procedures. I don't put much stock in this. he didn't talk about forcing hospitals, only making deals. You can make of this what you will. This is how things currently are with respect to emergency room care (and have been for some time). I don't like that, either, but it's not that major of a difference, though it still is wrong.

But it is NOT socialized medicine, so you should stop trying to characterize it as that. Just characterize it as what it is, which should be enough to make your point, which is subsidies (it seems) to handle insurance for those who are uninsured. And it won't work.

But the repeal of barkyCare is the more important aspect and we can argue over this when it comes to it.
