Obama Policy Prevents Immigration Officials From Looking At Social Media Of Applicants, Including Islamic Terrorists

It's hard to connect the dots when you refuse to acknowledge the dots exist.

Fearing a civil liberties backlash and "bad public relations" for the Obama administration, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson refused in early 2014 to end a secret U.S. policy that prohibited immigration officials from reviewing the social media messages of all foreign citizens applying for U.S. visas, a former senior department official said.

"During that time period immigration officials were not allowed to use or review social media as part of the screening process," John Cohen, a former acting under-secretary at DHS for intelligence and analysis. Cohen is now a national security consultant for ABC News.

But we can collect all sorts of information about American citizens without a warrant. Oh and don't worry, the same people who worry more about "optics" and sensitivity to foreigners are going to be able to screen out any danger presented by Syrian refugees.

This is a problem I have with the "we have to let everyone in, it's "who we are"" crowd. The burden is always placed on America...we must put up with government intrusions, we must watch what we say in order to never offend, we must take the risk of the occasional terror attack, we must...we must...we must. Not only that, we get lectured about how we have to be kept in check and considered guilty as a group for a backlash that never materializes.

We've some how perverted our views to the point where we, the citizens of the United States, have to prove our worthiness to live in the company of those who wish to come here. It's insanity and it's contributing to opposition to sustaining the current levels of immigration.

The burden to prove the value of letting people move here needs to be on the immigrants and their supporters here. Not the other way around.

23 This is part of a wider pattern that makes it hard to argue this isn't deliberate. I still don't think so: I beleive the Obama administration is made up of fools, ignorant people, and ideological zealots for whom reality keeps getting in the way, so they do incredibly idiotic and self destructive, insane things. But if it was deliberate, how much differently would they do things?

I figure the "bad optics" idea is a lame excuse, its more "the Muslim Brotherhood minders said it was racist and would offend Muslims and we want to be nice to them so they like us."

Whom do they despise, and lay awake at night devising ways to hose in one way or another? Loyal American citizens, taxpayers, home owners, whites, nuclear families, law-abiding citizens.

Yep. They are not stupid. It's all consistent. Although for the left, it's difficult to distinguish between incompetence and a willful agenda with the left, because what the left wants is chaos and destruction. That always benefits them.

So if certain policies cause chaos and destruction that will benefit Democrats. Because then they will say, "the solution is more government" and people are so fucking stupid they will still buy into that.

So being a Democrat is good if your self esteem is bothered by being an incompetent fuckwit, yet you desire to be regarded as a brilliant politician. If you go Democrat, you can be both with no tension. I f*cking hate them.

62 The fundamental transformation of America requires a new people, and if they hate traditional America and end up on welfare, all the better (for the leftists).

Obama/Jarrett were raised by card carrying commies, what did we expect?

Ted Kennedy drowned his date and was still the Democrat lion, giving us immigration policy that brought in the third world, and supported the commie takeover. The Barbarians crashed the gates, and demanded their "fair share".

Closing borders is job one, including slowing or stopping legal immigration. Trump got an advanced copy of Coulter's book Adios America (everyone should read it) and used her piercing points to gain his initial momentum. The Muslim pause thing is an extension of that. The "immigration" of cheap goods from commie nations, that hurts our manufacturing base, is another extension.

America First. How hard is that? Our ever growing trade deficits and paying to police the world shows it is too hard, I guess. Giving away what Americans fought for is easy, as Democrats know.

And you're going to give it up for Christmas-because you're a Christian?!!

My working theory is Romney was correct, Russia is the greatest geopolitical enemy. Documents from the 80's show the Russkies thought it useful to use the jihadists. In the ME, it is Russia that backs Syria and Iran, and stand on the other side of that red line.

On a broader scale, Russia is also in South Africa, and was why we backed the white guys. We lost, and the Russians are now (I presume) in bed with those that followed Mandela. They kept it secret till his death, but Mandela was a bona fide commie member.

And of course in Eastern Europe, Obama has surrendered from day one, with Hillary kissing up to them with her reset (overcharge) button. Democrats ... selling us out to communists from FDR (some of his best friends were communist) to the sellout of our allies in Vietnam.

Soros helps with the jihad, advocating for their open borders, destabilizing Europe. Russia won't let the old bastard in. Exactly who the globalists are I'm not sure, but I see Islam as more a tool, not the real root enemy.

198 OUTRAGEOUS bias in the first two paragraphs of this AP article about a landlord in Boston getting sentenced to "learn Islam" as punishment for pushing a tenant. Notice the bolded parts:

"BOSTON (AP) - After a landlord was convicted of pushing her Muslim tenant down a flight of stairs, a judge ordered her to respect the rights of all Muslims and to take an introductory course on Islam. Now the highest court in Massachusetts is being asked to decide whether the judge violated the landlord's constitutional rights.

The Supreme Judicial Court will hear arguments next month in a case that poses interesting legal questions at a time when the country is grappling with anti-Muslim backlash following deadly attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, California, both allegedly carried out by radical Muslims."

Beyond unreal.

Something for which there is no evidence, an "anti-Muslim backlash," is stated as an unquestioned self-evident fact, whereas something for which there is overwhelming evidence, that the attacks were carried out by radical Muslims, is relegated into the realm of unproven theory by the addition of the modifier "allegedly."

Yes, as I have recounted many times on the blog, working with ethnic Muslim males was unbearable no matter what the diversity training had to say about how wonderful mixing the cultures is. Even though they were contractors and I was an employee, they would not answer phone calls or emails, I had to arrange for a man to get the information. Some of that was them camouflaging the fact that they were not doing their jobs because it was beyond their skill sets and language abilities.

Our federal law also has a policy of willful blindness by not noting Islam as a red flag when we do investigations, even when relevant.

The answer can't be that if we flag Islam we have to flag all religions. e.g., if we do surveillance at mosques we also have to do surveillance at synagogues.

Employers and colleges look at social media, why not visa applications from citizens of countries of interest or of those with obvious Islamic names. Yes it's profiling but it's common sense and Constitutional.

They're betting that they, themselves, will never be attacked by an Islamist, nor anyone they know, nor that their politically-correct workplace will be the scene of a bombing or a slaughter.

If they could guide the Islamists into attacking the flyover states and shooting up state fairs, they'd do it. Firstly, because it makes great press. Secondly, because it would cull a few more of those bitter, Bible-clinging rednecks out of the herd. And thirdly, because it would bring them ever nearer to the wet dream of universal gun confiscation.

Sometimes clergy people will do services for people who did not profess the Christian faith and the family members tell them that, so unless you wanted to proselytize the people there you may not mention the resurrection. It's not good to promise that we're all going to do to heaven and that is doesn't matter what you believe if you're not a Unitarian..

If it was in a Methodist Church for a Methodist it is entirely inappropriate not to talk about the resurrection in a Christian service

If you read the whole thing, you'll see something even MORE rage-inducing:

The landlord is an immigrant from Nigeria, and was part of the Christian community there, and fled Nigeria to get away from the ongoing attempted genocide against Nigerian Christians by (guess who?) Muslims!

So she comes here and gets into a dispute with a Muslim tenant, and the judge basically says to her, "Lady, you're just an ignorant bigot! You need to learn more about Islam so you wont be so prejudiced against them. I sentence you to take a course on Islam!"

Hey, motherfucker: She knows more about Islam than you'll ever know!. Her entire culture is being massacred my Muslims, hundreds of thousands of Nigerian Christians have been slaughtered, she flees to safety in America -- and you dare to sentence her to learn about Islam?

277 Several weeks ago I went to a workshop on evangelism. The nice, intelligent pastor who lead it said he was asked to do a wedding in the park for unchurched people. The only people who have weddings in churches now are church people The gal was vaguely religious. The guy was not. He was told by the guy, "We don't want any of that God talk here" so he struggled with it and decided to do it anyway because it was a method of outreach, and he figured God was there anyway whether he was invited or not. Afterwards the guy was almost in tears and said, "That was beautiful. I may visit your church sometime-maybe at Thanksgiving" (The wedding had been in June) I guess the guy thought that might be an appropriate time to visit a church.

This pastor is much younger than I am and maybe this is the new method of evangelism, but if somebody wanted me to perform a marriage without mentioning God I;d tell them to get a hold of the UU minister instead,

337 Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson refused in early 2014 to end a secret U.S. policy that prohibited immigration officials from reviewing the social media messages of all foreign citizens applying for U.S. visas,

It's funny, in a morbid, pathetic way, that this policy is a secret. In a normal society, it would be an intrusive sort of policy that would be kept a secret, not a common sense policy of examining information about aliens who are requesting the privilege of entering our country.

As I have said for years about Barky:

The snooze media also aren't going to be in any hurry to note that the Reagans deliberately spent the majority of their Christmases at the White House or at Camp David, to allow the maximum number of support and security personnel to be with their own families for Christmas.

INFORMATIVE graphic. Not great in terms of its design. Edward Tufte could not be reached for comment at press time.

But it is from Vox (and profound thanks for not linking there and feeding them click traffic), so it having been designed by short-bus riders is no surprise.

As for the actual content of the graphic, damn, man. Grahamnesty spends nearly three million bucks on paid media and the polling needle stays stuck dead flat on zero. How did this clown get re-elected again? What in the world are they putting in the water down in the Palmetto State?
