The problem with the Obamacare collapse is that it's hitting the small company I work for. The health exchange we are on is pulling out of the Oregon market. We'll have new insurance on the first. This one had a $5k deductible. I added my husband to it and premiums are seriously cutting into what we have to live on. He's eligible for Medicare now and I will be next spring. I'm gonna start looking into that and see if I can't find a way to get cheaper coverage. Those folks after a $15 minimum wage are really dumb. It's just enough to cut you out of the freebies, but not enough to pay for all those expensive government programs.

I recall that the surrender of Vicksburg - Grant's first victory - was delayed because Grant owed money to the Confederate commander there for the time Grant was lent $$$ to travel back to Galena to see his family, and yet when the reb commander asked for certain considerations in light of this personal debt, Grant refused.

I was going to look up all the electoral margins, but now I just want to say Wikipedia has, on this subject, the worst chart ever invented about *anything*.
It's in an irrational order (for the subject) and lists everything *but* the margins. It lists a mathematicalized margin and a percentage, from which you can *derive* basically the only thing that matters about the chart.
Man, the world makes me tired sometimes. It's like watching someone trying to kiss a rattlesnake, only with math.

I bought a couple of biographies of Grant when we were in his hometown, but I confess I haven't read them yet. And there's so much information in the museum, it's too much to remember it all. Plus I was slightly tipsy. So lots of memory holes.

Yep. We went to the Methodist church where he and his family attended. They had their own personal pew, with a plaque that marks it. I think maybe it was not uncommon for that era.

Just for the record there are plenty of polite people from NJ. Some of u have had a D after our name since the time were turned 18 which was a very looooooooong time ago. We just keep the D so that we can tell Democrats off when the party calls asking for money and so that we can get the top bunk in the reeducation camps. :^)
