From Mark Steyn's... new album?

Album?

Huh?

Gotta watch to the end.

It's kinda good, in a weird, mid-eighties sort of way.

Apparently this is a thing:

23 I am become willow, Destroyer of Threads.

Let me haul this up here.

http://alturl.com/5dg2a

So get this:

The Washington Post-ABC News poll out Monday asked Americans if they would trust Clinton or one of five Republican candidates more. She led Trump 50% to 42%, Carson 49% to 40%, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz 47% to 40%, and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio 47% to 43%.

The poll did not ask about Clinton's Democratic opponent, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

The poll also found that Americans strongly disapprove of how President Barack Obama is handling ISIS and the threat of terror broadly.

So Americans don't like what President Obama is doing, but they trust Hillary on dealing with terrorists?

98 17 Is it vinyl only or is it album in the figurative sense?
Posted by: fluffy

True fact:

The word "record album" came from the era of 78s when a band would release a series of singles on 78 rpm shellac 10" disks, and the record labels would then sell people book-like holders -- albums, they were called, just like photo albums -- to hold up to ten or twelve shellac disks at once, as the sort of "collected works" of that band.

When they introduced vinyl 33 rpm 12" "long play" records in 1948, they estimated they were big enough data-wise to hold an entire "album"'s worth of music, so people began referring to long-play 33 rpm records as "albums."

Now you know.

Posted by: zombie at November 23, 2015 07:42 PM (dM5Zx)

Exactly. That's how classical symphonies were released, since each 78 could only play about 5-7 minutes per side. Somewhere around here I have a copy of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony on 78s. I can't find it right now, but I want to say there were 6-8 records in it.

In recent years, Bob Dylan has released some box sets where the CDs are contained in hardcover books that are reminiscent of the old "albums".

Sometimes it seems to useless you remain.
You don't have to call me Preezy ... Whitey ...
Bringing down the country is my game.

Well you don't have to call me clean and articulate
And you don't have to call me Historic First
And you don't have to call me ... Potus ... anymore ...
Even compared to Carter I'm the worst !!!

But I'll hang around as long as Repubs let's me ...
And I've never read a bad article with my name ...
You don't have to call me Preezy ... Whitey ...
Bringing down the country is my game.

(spoken)

Well a friend of mine named Valerie Jarrett wrote that song
and she told me it was the perfect Revolutionary song
I texted her back saying it wasn't the perfect Revolutionary song
Because she hadn't said anything about pot, back room deals, or screwin' the man.
Well she sat down and wrote another verse to this song and she sent it to me
And I realized that my handler had written the perfect Revolutionary song
I felt obliged to include it on this taxpayer paid album, and it goes like this;

I was high, the day Michelle, met that Iranian ...
So I went, for a free lunch, in the rain ...
But before I could mellow out from my kick ass buzz ...
I got elected Preezy of the USA ...

So I'll hang around as long as Repubs let's me ...
And I've never read a bad article with my name ...
You don't have to call me Preezy ... Whitey ...
Bringing down the country is my game.

330 About 15 years ago I lived in a second floor apartment. The woman who lived on the first floor got a Jack Russell terrier. But she was away from home for long periods of time and either left him tied up in the yard, or kept him in a crate in her apartment, probably after the neighbors complained about his incessant barking.

When he was indoors, I got treated to hearing him howling, crying, and screeching nonstop. The poor thing sounded like he was being tortured. It was heart-rending.

When he was outside, I'd go over and greet him when I got home from work. He was perfectly friendly and affectionate. But when I stood up to go inside, he'd start barking again. He just couldn't stand being alone.

Eventually I took my neighbor aside and told her that the dog was miserable and needed more companionship than she could provide. After a while she told me she gave him to a friend. I hope she was telling me the truth and she didn't just have him put down. Her track record with pets was not encouraging, to say the least.

Just running and maintaining the oil fields is something that no arab country has been able to do on its own. Saudi Arabia, which is nothing but oil, still doesn't have the domestic expertise to manage their own fields (the fields they stole, I should say). Without foreign workers, all of the gulf oil fields would lie bare.

Further along your point, putting the oil into tankers and transporting it means that papers need to be filed with every country the tanker goes near. It's not like an oil tanker pulls up in the dead of night and they take the oil off in 5 gallon jugs on the beach.

As you, I have been more than a bit befuddled by the logistics of this whole ISIS oil operation works and how it must be allowed to work by some major oil consuming country (if not all of them).

But this all goes back to my original and standing argument with respect to the threats from the arab/persian/muslim world - the threats all start and stop with control of the gulf oil fields. Take the fields back from the arabs and persians and they have NOTHING. No money, no power, no leverage over anything. Without control of the gulf oil fields no one wouls bother considering anything about arab/persian/muslim world and the APM world wouldn't be able to do anything. Not a single thing. Westerners would give arabs, persians, or muslims about the same level of attention as they give to hindus, now.

But that's the easy and clean way to take care of that threat ... so no one will even contemplate doing it.

It says they even have clandestine pipelines set up for the stuff and illegal refineries. Heh, gives new meaning to "still", one for oil, not booze. And that they refine locally, they use locally, fuel cheaper than market.

And it's all going on with the approval of the Turkish authorities.
