Couple of suggestions from a retired wildlife rehabber? Make nfl ref flags out of old handkerchiefs with sand. Tie long string to them to facilitate retrieval. Pour ammonia in the ball end. Toss numerous "flags" around attic. Put a light up in attic or, if one is there, turn it on and leave it. Put a radio up in attic and turn on. Anything to simulate human activity. Momma squirrels keep 3 or 4 nests in case one is compromised. Posted by: rickb223 at November 23, 2015 09:24 AM (hQt/L) 56

In case you get tired of people acting as though good Muslims, even if there are many of them, cancel out the very real threat of radical Islamic terrorism, point to the Rwandan Genocide.
In 1990, Rwanda had a population of 7.2 million. The country has roughly 84% Hutus, which comes out to about 6 million. The rest were Tutsis, with a small and insignificant amount of a third ethnic group known as Twa. Now, the genocide was carried out primarily by the Interahamwe militia, with a reported strength at that time of 100,000. This means that approximately 1% of Rwandan Hutus murdered 800,000 Tutsis (and moderate Hutus) in 100 days. There were plenty of good Hutus in the country. Paul Rusesagabina of Hotel Rwanda fame comes to mind. Like I mentioned before, Hutus who didn't want to murder their Tutsi countrymen were chopped into pieces as well. Looking at those numbers, even with some support for the Interahamwe amongst non-members, I'd say that the vast majority of Rwandan Hutus were good people! Ultimately, it didn't mean a thing. Unless there was some third party evidence that they plotted or were involved, there's either 'reasonable doubt' or grounds for endless appeals (as if that weren't already the case). I am reading Carlo Cipola's book Guns, Sails and Empires, and have gotten again to the section about the failure of the Chinese to modernize. the section that hits me in the eye again is: ...Genteel initiates in and essentially humanistic culture, the officials of the Celestial Empire "were amateurs in the fullest sense of the word, without interests in progress, leanings to science, sympathy for commerce or prejudice in favor of utility. Amateurs in government because their training was for art, they had an amateur basis in art itself for their profession was in government" And also says, "Instinctively [they] preferred military defeat which could be reversed, to entering a psychological crisis [admitting their culture and world view was not effective.] The Mandarins [tried] to resist this threat without regard to the economic and political dangers" [s/] works quoted were j. Levenson, Confucian china and its modern fate, and Mu Fu-Sheng, the Wilting of a Hundred Flowers It is amazing to me that the Maoist trained students grew up to be the Mandarin staff of the universities and bureaucrats of today, re-creating the very things they were taught to fight. True story, my cousin's daughter was in a class at Oklahoma University when the announcement was made. Unfortunately, OU and Tulsa University have a fair number of Muslim Utes from the Mideast here to study Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, etc. A couple of those Musliim Utes just couldn't help themselves, so jumped to their feet and cheered at the news. They were promptly shown the error of their ways by some angry OU non-Muslim Utes. Strangely enough, all those stories about Muslims being abused on 9/11 were not true. A few of them did get yelled at by angry people, but, that was it. I thought NYC and DC showed remarkable restraint. I'm from Paterson, NJ and on the morning of 9-11 after the attacks, I made it a point to drive through the Muslim neighborhoods (mostly Palestinian, Syrian and Turkish) to see what was going on---and there wasn't a person on the streets. Now, normally there would have been many men coming in and out of the coffee shops and smoking and talking on the streets, bit there was no one to be found. There was a rumor that there was celebrating, but I think that was just kids being loud and laughing after being let out of the school early. There were groups of white and Puerto Rican kids looking to kick ass, but nothing came of that.

Analysts at U.S. Central Command were pressured to ease off negative assessments about the Islamic State threat and were even told in an email to cut it out, Fox News has learned as an investigation expands into whether intelligence reports were altered to present a more positive picture.
Fox News is told by a source close to the CENTCOM analysts that the pressure on them included at least two emails saying they needed to cut it out and toe the line. Separately, a former Pentagon official told Fox News there apparently was an attempt to destroy the communications. The Pentagon official said the email warnings were not well received by the analysts. But But But Fredo is going to get to the Bottom of this. Syria is just the latest in a long line of Arab strong men who got too greedy and too oppressive. This has been happening as long as there have been Arab strong men setting themselves up as a Sheikhs, Sultans, and Caliphs. What upset the apple cart was two things: 1. OIL and turned mere respectable fortunes from the spice and slave trade into mega Billions. 2. The concomitant rise in the Left's viciousness towards Christian morals, which stood in the way of legitimizing the interests of many of their coalition constituents, to wit, homosexuals, the abortion/free love crowd, drug users, and anarchists, etc. To succeed, the Left needed to destroy the family and make life on the dole the natural order of things. Without strong Christian nations surrounding the Middle East to keep it contained, it degenerated into a morass of Islamic theocracies and warring factions over the correct Islamic theology. NGU, as usual it's the Congress that should be turning the place upside down re the intel manipulation at CENTCOM. Are they? Amazing how pristine the inversion is between the idiot soup (what a BBC or NPR listener thinks they know) and reality. In the UK the BBC spread wild tales of intel manipulation, all of which were investigated and proved false, while at the same time the BBC was the one doing the lying, leading to scandals that forced some of its top people to resign. Here the Dems and fellow cretins went all LaRouche on US intel about Iraq, with no basis whatsoever. But now, with these dimwits given power by a pathetically stupid US electorate (twice), THEY are the ones crudely trying to force the system to deny reality. Supposedly there have been calls by a group of Muslims in France to search out these terrorists and kill them. A former radical Islamist was on Fox News this morning supporting the same call to other Muslims. I don't think reformation is possible within Islam because of the Koran it's based on but I like to see an attempt.

I really don't care if President Obama think anyone is prejudicial and discriminatory because they think ISIS is a murderous, butchering terrorist group. Furthermore. I read that book. Ann Coulter claimed George Marshall--General George Marshall, that is--was a Soviet agent or communist sympathizer or a fellow traveler or some such bullshit. She had to make the claim since her premise was that everything that came out of Joe McCarthy's mouth was Gospel Truth; ergo, McCarthy's claims thatMarshall was a Soviet sympathizer (!) must be true. The reason Joe McCarthy (and Coulter) made this accusation is because prior to VE Day, General Marshall, former Chief of Joint Chiefs then Truman's Secretary of State, floated the idea ofcontinuing (obviously non-military)aid to the Soviet Union as a way of forestalling or even preventinga Cold (and possibly Very Hot) War with Russia. Truman gave the idea consideration but turned it down as unfeasible given that Joe Stalin was an untrustworthy monster. Thus the 'commie traitor' accusation by Joseph McCarthy against George Marshall, one of the greatest Americans of the 20th Century. Coulter is an asshole for perpetuating it. Not defending Tyson's character. Neither was she. Tyson was, however, one of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport. And thuggish? One can make that same claim regarding any number of former champions and contenders. John L. Sullivan, for example, was a complete asshole and a bully out of the ring--as well as a near-rabid racist. Jake LaMotta also comes to mind. So do goons like Tony Galento. The list goes on. The sport's full of 'em. I happen to love that sport, although now too old to compete anymore. And insofar as the interview itself is concerned,it should be pointed out thatinterviews with famous people in various fields of endeavorhave some news and historical value.
