Melissa Harris-Perry: Republicans Can't Use the Phrase "Hard Worker" Because It Demeans Slavery and Single Working Moms, Or Something

Melissa Harris-Perry was heralded as America's Foremost Public Intellectual by Ta-Nahesi Coates, who himself was vaunted as "the new James Baldwin" for his truculent blog posts, so, when she says this, y'all be sure to listen up and let that Wisdom of the Oppressed drip deep into you.

Via the Free Beacon (with a transcript if you don't want to watch the video) and from Hot Air, with some commentary.

The Social Justice Warrior variant of the Race Card Game is just a variant of the age-old game of social ratf***ing-- a game played by vicious losers which consists of cutesy rhetorical gambits to put other people on the defensive, undermining them and sabotaging them, in order to make oneself seem grand.

Stephen Potter wrote about this practice in a series of parodies. It's a stupid game played by stupid, vicious people.

And it's more than just that, of course. It's also about establishing and mainstreaming a regime in which it is understood and accepted that there will be quasi-judicial punishments imposed for saying something the Speech Police don't like.

A private liberal arts college’s student government unanimously decided to slash its student newspaper budget following intense controversy over an op-ed that was critical of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The opinion piece published in the Wesleyan Argus on Sept. 14 was titled, "Why Black Lives Matter Isn’t What You Think." Within a few days, according to the author of the piece, "all hell broke loose." Hundreds of copies of the student newspaper were destroyed, anonymous social media apps buzzed with negativity directed at the paper and the author, and a petition circulated the campus demanding that the paper be defunded.

On Sunday, the Wesleyan Student Assembly Senate voted 27 to 0, with four people abstaining, to pass a resolution cutting the Argus' funding by more than half and redistributes that money to other campus publications for paid worker positions and digital innovation. That funding would be allocated through measuring online data analytics and the student body’s vote...

According to the student newspaper, their funding will be reduced to $13,000 from $30,000 for the upcoming academic year.

As I say, their intend is to routinize all this, to make it just understood that this is the noncontroversial standard practice of operation.

It's time to start making our own hell over this increasingly fascist regime.

It's time to start breaking things.

I support Ben Carson's proposal to start using the Department of Education to monitor, and possibly defund, universities which hew this sort of hard leftwing line.

Wesleyan doesn't need to fund this newspaper -- but we sure the hell don't have to fund Wesleyan, either.

26 I went to a Holocaust survivor seminar yesterday, and got to listen to the stories of about 30 survivors. This was how that crap started. When a small, vociferous group of sh*ts decide that they have the only moral authority to determine who and who can't speak, act, work, receive benefits, and who better pay for it.

My only comment was that I wanted to know more about what things were like before the hell broke loose, because I wanted others to know how fragile our lifestyle is, and at the drop of a hat, we could lose our pumpkin lattes, Iphones and driverless cars, because some jack-booted thug decides we aren't worthy, and he can take everything we have, including our lives, because he says so.

They want to do that already. The idea is to force them to live in the same world that they try to force on us. When they face the same tactics that they've used against conservatives, perhaps enough of them will cry "enough!" and agree to live peaceably.

They bully only stops pushing you around once you make it clear that failure to do so will result in pain.

As for the fascist regimes in colleges and cutting funding for them, yes that should be done. But that will not keep the liberal bureaucrats like the EEOC from out of the colleges on this kind of rap. They have ruled that as long as ANY student at the college gets federal assistance or loans that is the same thing as being a college funded by the government thus subject unconstitutional federal meddling.

Then she did well at the debates and she put Chris Matthews in his place on Hillary's lies so the press cut off her air, so the "earned media" dried up and she still didn't have the money to do much with a campaign.

And the other Republicans want her out as much as they want the other 12 guys out.

I've always felt that there is inherent racism in the left's tendency to regard white+minority=minority as opposed to just regarding it as mixed.

Where else does that come into play where A mixed with B makes B? Only with contamination. You contaminate pure A with B and you get B, no matter how diluted it is.

The left probably does this to swell its ranks, but really it carries this assumption at the back of it, so that mixed people are also helpless wards that need the state to look out for them.

152 So, I used to be a college student newspaper editor. I will annotate the article accordingly.

A private [and by "private," they mean "only 90% of the money comes from the federal government"] liberal arts college's student government [yeah, nothing good comes out of those] unanimously [no dissent is tolerated!] decided
to slash its student newspaper budget [they had a budget?! lucky dogs!] following intense [a few people started screeching and it probably made NPR] controversy [once again, probably just a few people] over
an op-ed that was critical [it had a few sentences that made some paranoid people feel bad] of the Black Lives Matter movement [which pretty much exists as a few rioters that managed to make it to national media].

The opinion piece published in the Wesleyan Argus on Sept. 14 was
titled, "Why Black Lives Matter Isn't What You Think." [Sounds like a Vox title to me, what the problem?] Within a few
days, according to the author of the piece, "all hell broke loose." [I'm sure the people living in the ruins of Qom would agree that this was, indeed, hellish.]
Hundreds of copies of the student newspaper were destroyed [probably by one small group of people and/or hobos trying to stay warm], anonymous
[to be more threatening] social media apps [which were probably used by a few people to blow this out of proportion] buzzed with negativity [SOMEONE HURT MY FEEWINGS! WAAAH!] directed at the paper and the
author, and a petition [ooooh, a petition, now they're serious!] circulated the campus demanding that the paper be
defunded [the most dangerous thing you can do to a liberal institution].

On Sunday, the Wesleyan Student Assembly Senate voted 27 to 0, [what an astoundingly large number of students!] with four
people abstaining, [voting present because they didn't want their seats to be taken away if they spoke a word of disent] to pass a resolution cutting the Argus' [and here I thought our college newspaper had a crappy name] funding by
more than half [oooooh, half! now they're really gutting it!] and redistributes [socialism at ts finest!] that money to other campus publications
for paid worker positions [these morons got paid?! we got college credits!] and digital innovation [a nebulous word for "slush fund"]. That funding would be
allocated through measuring online data analytics [also easy to manipulate] and the student
body's vote [hey, an actual democratic vote! too bad the outcome was already decided!]...

According to the student newspaper, their funding will be reduced to $13,000 from $30,000 for the upcoming academic year. [Our faculty advisor probably made twice that, but she also taught a ton of English classes too.]

The left always says things like: don't protect people who won't bake gay cakes because then Islamic owned pharmacies will let Christian women die without their meds, because they don't wear headscarves!

They seem to say that "if you do this, those you oppose will use it against you".

But of course that's a con. The left will ALREADY use every means possible against you. They already support that Islamic pharmacy. So we ought ourselves use every means possible and not fall for this con that if only we are nicer, the other side will behave decently as well. They haven't. They never have. Yeah. I am starting to think that the problem the Left has with 19th century American slaveowners was that they were white individuals who made personal fortunes from owning blacks (I'm taking about the big plantation owners and traffickers in the slave trade, not small landowners).

In other words, what is objectionable in the Left's eyes is not slavery per se, but who was profiting.

199 I don't know if this was ever noted here, but in September, Hillsdale College in Michigan was left off of the Federal Gov. College ScoreCard, which rates colleges. When asked why Hillsdale, which is ranked very highly as one of the best liberal arts colleges in country by independent organizations, such as Kiplinger, Forbes, etc., Dept. of Education assistant press sec. Dennis Horn said it was because Hillsdale offers mostly certificates, not BS. degrees.

Which is patently false. Hillsdale only issues four year BS degrees and Masters. It issues no certificates whatsoever.

Hillsdale says it was not included, because it refuses Federal money and it refuses to participate in race tracking for the fed. gov.

Perry legitimately, and Dolezal/Warren/Shaun illegitimately seek after a racial taint that will make people take them seriously. But I still contend that this use is as of a negative characteristic, not a positive one.

It is invoked as something that worked against them, that they had to overcome. They want minorities to feel shame and resentment, since that is the engine that drives the grievance train. People like Carson, Keyes and Sowell are kryptonite to them, since they've moved beyond this bullshit.

244 A federal court in Illinois has ordered a trucking company to pay $240,000 in damages to two Muslim truck driver employees who were fired after they refused to drive trucks containing alcohol cargoes.

The court said the trucking company could have accommodated the truckers' religious beliefs by assigning them to drive loads that didn't contain alcohol.

So how is it that the government can force bakers and photographers, etc., to violate their religious beliefs, even though there is an easy accommodation that the government can make? When there are hundreds, or even thousands, of other nearby vendors that a gay customer can use for their gay wedding, why does the government force targeted vendors (always Christians) to act in ways that violate their sincerely-held religious beliefs?

If it is not okay for private employers to fail to make reasonable accommodations for somebody's religious beliefs, then why it is okay for the government to fail to make reasonable accommodations for somebody's religious beliefs?

The government forces Catholic health care providers to violate their religious beliefs by funding birth control and abortion pills. There is any easy accommodation the government could make in those cases too -- let the Catholics refuse, and require the customers to purchase their birth control and/or abortion pills elsewhere (since there are thousands of vendors across the U.S. who sell those items at low cost). It would be an easy accommodation for the government to make to the Catholics, and yet the government refuses. Instead, the government forces the Catholic providers to violate their religious beliefs -- something it would never allow a private employer to get away with (at least, not if it was a Muslim religious belief being violated).

That's what "equality" is all about!

Everybody has to "accommodate" Muslim beliefs because Muslims must never be forced to act in ways that violate their religious beliefs if there is any other way.

But if you're a Christian, nobody -- including the government -- is required to "accommodate" your religious beliefs, and in fact the government can actively force you to violate your religious beliefs, all in the name of "diversity!"

Probably makes perfect sense to an idiot like Melissa Harris-Perry, but it's contradictory and unfair and unconstitutional to any reasonable person.
