45 I'm putting this up from the last thread because posting a new thread right before I put up a comment, like unequal pay, is just... not fair.

281 In what, rightly, should be called the "more jobs for lawyers" act, his highness (literally) Brown of The Imperial Mexican State of California signed the "landmark" fair pay act.

I am thoroughly convinced that the bulk of legislation in this country is made as part of a jobs program for lawyers. Who knew you would ever need a lawyer to avoid all of the penalties from not paying the taxes that you illegally failed to pay AND to pay less than you owe? Sounds like a racket, right? Or how about getting all of the benefits that you rightly deserve buy you probably won't until you hire a lawyer to get them for you because the law is too damned complicated for anyone to understand, but law firms just happen to have an inside track on under Social Security?

What I hope happens with this law is that some unknown lesbian (because it would be salt in the wound) actress who gets a bit part in a movie in which some A lister actor gets a million bucks for a cameo and then she divides up her time on the screen that amounts to 10 times the minutes of the A listers cameo and she sues and gets ten times as much as the A lister.

Who can say, "Karma. She's a bitch, alright."

Democrats far better than Republicans at grammar

A new study analyzing the grammar of comments posted on presidential candidate Facebook pages finds that Republicans tend to butcher the English language at twice the rate of Democrats.

The study by the grammar-checking app Grammarly found that GOP supporters made an average of 8.7 mistakes per 100 words compared to 4.2 mistakes for Democratic supporters.

107 Jwest, ok, here's the problem. We gave a whirlpool side by side ref, pretty old.
Anyway, the freezer keeps going into defrost mode too long - ice cream and food get soft, ice in the ice maker tray starts dropping onto the frozen food. If we move the thermostat setting to colder, or wiggle it back ad forth a but, we can generally get it to go into cold mode again.
We tried replacing the numeral defrost thingy (thermostat).
But it's still happening.
So based on Google, my next choice would be replace the adaptive defrost control (circuit board) or the thermostat.
Not sure how to tell which would be more likely.

111 I already checked that coils are clean, no frost build up inside freezer, etc. So it might be something with the control.
I don't think it's the compressor, fan or airflow coz when it's not in defrost mode it gets stuff pretty cold on both freezer & ref side.

115 I know the average Moron has a larger vocabulary than your average libtard.

Granted most of the difference is an unusually large collection of profanities, but still.

Did you hear that WNYC, an NPR station, paid a design firm to create a "new flag for the South" to replace the CBF?

It's every bit as metrosexual as you'd expect -

With the thermostat already replaced, it sounds like a timer problem - which would be integral with the control board.

These should be fairly inexpensive on ebay and easily replaced, so it's worth trying.

When my old side by side died I went with two separate components from Northland for the refrigerator and freezer. Works great.

Woman in the painting has a hairstyle popular in the 1920s-30s. Dress is consistent with that era also.

Hmmm.... seems about 1930. Not a bad time in America, except for that Great Depression thing.

And oh, I was thinking I was going to see a commercial there for a minute "Hi I am Early Morning Ace and I have cable" or some such.

122 Thanks jwest, that was my first thought too.
The control is around $120, saw a refurbished on on eBay for $65

Refurbished, though. Hmmm.

Anyway, the freezer keeps going into defrost mode too long - ice cream and food get soft, ice in the ice maker tray starts dripping onto the frozen food.

A tad heavy of the metaphors... what's the real problem? 'Cause it sounds like a healthy dose of antibiotics may be the answer.

124 Never heard of Northland appliances before. High end brand?

I would like a freezer by itself though, manual defrost. Maybe one day.

It's a commercial brand. Heavy duty components, easy to repair. They go together like lego with a little trim strip that joins the refrigerators and freezers, so you can have a full wall of them if you feel like it.

I bought them because I wanted the full length glass front on the refrigerator. Sub Zero had one similar, but it was only a half door of glass.

132 Ol' Marcel really had that lamp-painting business down to a science; actually I think that he pretty much owned the low-light look, and he had the good sense to use sleek babes. He wasn't no dummy.

133 The only major criticism I have of this painting is the sea and sky in the background--mostly the sky. There is no depth to them. They're flat. There might as well be a curtain a few feet behind her.
