John Kasich: Please Don't Vote For Me, Ever, For Anything At All, Including For Any Business Plan I Might Present on "Shark Tank"

I'm not telling you how to go f*** yourself, I'm just saying you must go f*** yourself, John Kasich, vigorously and thoroughly, in whatever manner and style you think best expresses the real You, as a Person of the self-f*ckt variety.

What happened: Kasich, talking about his critics on his Medicaid expansion, said, condescendingly, he'd like to buy books for them, they come in two parts, an Old part and a New part-- see what the Bibles say about the treatment of the poor, he sums up.

He's what is referred to in Ephesians 7-10 as "a Real Asshole."

"Hey. Is it safe to ask about Puppy? I didn't read comments much yesterday ..."

Indeed it is. For those not following the ONT -
friends of the family knew of another family who had a puppy they couldn't keep, so we wound up "watching" it (yeah, I know. We've been down this path before)...

Little guy got really, really sick the other night (projectile from both ends and more) , so I wound up sleepless watching over the little dude.

Worst thing the little guy is so darn cute - black and white, roughly 15/20 lbs, looks like (for us old folks) the "draw this dog" image from back in the day. Seriously cute overload.

Vet the next AM got him set up (Yay!), and the little guy spent most of yesterday curled up w/his head on my lap.

So yeah, we've got a new dog.

Woof.

Kasich bemoans fact that constituents criticize him ("yell at me") for taking the PPACA Medicaid expansion for OH, snarks that there is a "book with an old part and a new part" that tells us how to treat the poor, then makes an awkward segue to "It's like fighting ISIS." by which I think he is trying to say that you can't make policy decisions based on who is yelling at you.

Never mind the fundamental dishonesty of "if we take the federal Medicaid expansion it's paid for by the taxpayers in the other 49 states".

Kasich occurred because . . .

Ted Strickland occurred because or Robert Taft (R). (Taft invested the state workers compensation funds in baseball cards. Seriously that is not a joke.)
Kasich is not presidential timber. He'd make a nice secretary of something or other, but he's no leader. His vision is let's get along and work together. Which would in theory be fine if you were cooperating with some potential of reciprocity from the other side, but that's not been the case for at least the last 10 years.

Gambling income while a sin in the eyes of the Almighty is income to be filed on Schedule UI87J of Form 6F8."

And that those who don't (usually, in fairness, interpreted "won't") work, shouldn't eat.

Also that, before a widow was put on "the list" (for assistance from the church) that she had to meet several criteria including being 60+ and having no living family.

Indeed, I imagine if we instituted a real Christian welfare system, the lefties would have a conniption over how "unfair" it was.

79 He's talking about representative democracy. For it to work, you have to trust your rep's judgement, because that's whay he's there. But the other side of that is that the rep has to listen to his constituents, not to the media or the lobbyists or anyone else, and vote in their intrest.

That rarely happens these days. DiFi could give a fuck about my opinion.

Plus Strickland ran the state into a massive budget hole while blowing through the rainy day fund like Charlie Sheen buying blow and hookers. Then his next opponent was caught driving without a license while in a parking lot with a woman who was not his wife. Kasich isn't beloved. He was at least incompetent. 107 Listen, people:

Kasich was referring to that part of the Bible where it says,

"Lo, behold the government of Man; for it is good, and shall dominate over Man. Let no Man decide for Himself what he may do, nor shall he beseech the Lord for guidance. In affairs of Man, government controlled by the few to benefit the many, shall be supreme.

Therefore, listen to your Father and Lord, and I say unto you:

Each Man, and his Wife as well, shall toil all the day and give all the fruits of their labor to the moneychangers in the Temple. In this way everyone is equal in the eyes of the Lord, for all shall have nothing.

Then let the moneychangers in the Temple distribute bread, and circuses as well when needed, to all those who labor not. I n this way, all are taken care of and entertained, by the agent of the Lord you call Government.

Let it be thus."

121 From NY Daily News:

The mother of the Oregon mass murderer stockpiled firearms because she feared stricter gun laws — and shopped around for a shooting range that would let her and her son fire away without supervision, the Daily News has learned.

Laurel Harper, a nurse who shared an apartment with her son Chris Harper Mercer, spoke openly about her love of guns, said the mother of one of her patients.

“She said she had multiple guns and believed wholeheartedly in the Second Amendment and wanted to get all the guns she could before someone outlawed them,” Shelly Steele, who hired Harper to provide care for her sickly teenage son, told The News in an exclusive interview Saturday.

“My husband is an avid hunter and former military, so she would talk to him about it all the time, how she liked to take her son shooting,” Steele said.

Harper told Steele she tried a shooting range close to the Umpqua Community College campus but didn’t like it “because it wasn’t very private.”

“You needed to have a range master with you, and she didn’t like anyone watching,” said Steele, who lives in Winston, Oregon.

189 Kasich is the ultimate spoiler candidate. He's the media's insider put there to keep everyone else in line.

How did he get so much attention and polling at the last minute before the first debate? He had just entered the race and suddenly popped up with just enough polling to get in the top tier.

That whole deal smells. Contrary to my first paragraph I really have no clue who did this or why but it seems obvious to me that someone fudged the books with the media and the RNC being in agreement that it would let it pass.

He's obviously more liberal than anyone else and it's also obvious that he is consciously taking that route and it's also obvious that there's a reason he's being pushed forward.

I'm afraid we'll have to just watch to see what it means.

258 The bible also warns against unsanctified mercy, or what we call enablement. it also warns against false shepherds or hired hands, far more. False Shepherds means people who offer help, but for an ulterior motive or purpose. The purpose of biblical charity is for helping people get OUT of the place they are in and into a more functional place. The way Biblical Charity works is Kindness balanced with Holiness, like that of a Father or Mother. You will get charity, but you are expected to change and get better.
The government, because of its nature and function cannot do this and the Founders understood their role in such things needed to be limited to prevent the Roman "grain dole" effect of buying votes. Its too much of a temptation for elected leaders.

unless you live in #Falifornia... they've been keeping a hand gun register for many years, and started tracking long guns a few years back, plus "assault weapons", if you registered any at the time they ordered it.

that's how Kamala Harris knows where to send her goons if she decides you shouldn't be allowed to have your guns any more.

Actually, there is registration (at least for handguns) in some for or other in a few states.

There are some that require permission to purchase a gun and some states require you to get a special ID to be able to purchase on.

That's on top of the actual Brady Form which is Federal.

I consider registration anytime the government knows and can record that you are purchasing or have purchased a firearm.

And I think it's so cute that you believe that that information "disappears" because some law says it's supposed to. Never heard of backups?

Once data is recorded in most normal corporate or governmental sized systems, it is nigh impossible to be sure it is all removed if that is required for some reason.

Backups, disk clones, raid systems all allow that data to be on record somewhere. It may be difficult to retrieve but it can be by someone who knows the system intimately.

Further, Medicaid is one of the most dangerous budget bombs there is. It will be the end of governments. That is why BarkyCare concentrated on super-charging Medicaid, specifically, and that is one of the most dangerous and insane aspects of BarkyCare.

If you want a system that doesn't save data it needs to be flipped to do that -- the denied list generates a hash in WV, which is distributed to licensed dealers. The dealers generate a hash using your data locally - and run it against the current list. Never transmitting anything. Even then their are pitfalls.

Kasich is right that real leaders shouldn't bend in the wind of the loudest, and usually most-ignorant, voices on issues. The fringier the cause and perspective, the louder the shouting, usually.

I especially love the commenter who wondered why Kasich "waited until Obamacare" to accept a larger Federal matching fund for Medicaid. Uh, because Obamacare was passed before he became governor, perhaps? If you're going to criticize a particular policy decision, try getting the most basic facts, like time-lines, correct first, yes?

After the first couple of head shots, I'd be "fuck it. if I'm gonna die it's not gonna be on my knees".

But then I feel the same way about these show videos that ISIS puts out with lines of these guys waiting meekly to get shot or throat cut or drowned or blown up.

All one has to do is remind people that, prior to Obamacare, everyone received healthcare.

How did we take care of everyone prior to Obamacare at 30% to 50% less than today?

At this point, you go into how all the money is being funneled into Obama's cronies and big money supporters. Keep it general with no details.

Why don't you tell me, since you "follow Ohio politics zealously."

Here, I'll help you out. Ohio finished FY 2014 with an 800 million dollar surplus. Kasich came into office in 2009 facing an 8 billion dollar shortfall. He's reduced personal and business income taxes, got the state's rainy-day fund up to its statutory maximum, and put away 300 million in Medicaid in anticipation of Federal funding ceasing.

But, Ace doesn't like that he talks about the Bible in a way that makes some people feel like they are being shamed. I thought Ace was an atheist, so what the fuck does he care, anyway?

I still don't see the case for him as a to-of-the-ticket national candidate for charisma reasons, but budget policy is something that he knows cold. You are only going to make yourself look completely foolish trying to argue with Kasich on government budgeting. He's forgotten more about it than you will ever know.

Posted by: jwest at October 06, 2015 02:13 PM (Zs4uk)

Kasich is not frustrated, he is wrong (or maybe he is frustrated AND wrong... but definitely wrong). Extending medicaid does not and has not saved money over the old system of the Government paying hospitals directly for taking care of the poor that showed up.

Extending Medicaid does not reduce the use of the emergency room as a primary source of low level care (in fact it appears to have increased it).

Extending Medicaid does not improve health outcomes as seen in the Oregon study and NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE does it say its ok to hold a gun to your neighbor's head and forcefully take his money so that you can provide for the poor in a way that you think is best. You will also notice that people were not dying in the streets from lack of healthcare (at least in any larger numbers than now) before there was Medicaid. By and large their care back then was handled through charity which they understood was not their right but was something they should be grateful for. That was a much better system than having anyone think that they have the right a good that costs money and a right to the fruits of someone else's labor to pay for it.

A wonk that went and decided he was going to suck at the tit of the federal government against the wishes of the legislature. 533 Has anybody asked John Kasich why he does not believe in the separation of church and state?

Also, since he seems to believe that The New Testament is a manual for how to run government, then surely he will support a law that requires Christian prayers and instruction in Christian theology in Ohio public schools, right? Because that's what Jesus would want, isn't it?

If we're going to run our government according to The New Testament, then we're going to have to make a lot of changes, right John? Starting with getting rid of that pesky First Amendment . . . .

534 "He seems ok with a huge government expansion into healthcare..."

Is he or isn't he, or does he just "seem ok" with it? Do you even know?

The fact of the matter is that he was stuck with a huge problem by Ted Strickland and had to fix it. He made a decision, an unpopular one to be sure, and his choice has panned out now that he got the breathing room in the state budget that the Federal funds allowed. 300 million surplus for Medicaid put away now for when the Federal funds end.

Like I said, you can certainly argue that the decision was the wrong one, but it is the job of leaders to make hard choices when necessary.

You may object to his rhetoric about communal responsibility for the poor, but he's pretty mainstream as far as mid-western Catholics and Anglicans go on that point. The majority of people believe in the concept he is espousing, even if you don't.

And again, Kasich has a 25 year stellar record on government balanced budgets to look to.

Nope. Not in Oregon. You see, any federal law on that data is moot here in Oregon (not that I believe the feds dump it either). In Oregon all background checks by law go through the State Police and their is a $10 fee per check paid by the customer buying the gun.

The state police actually said in testimony before the legislature a few years ago that cutting out the OSP and sending it directly to the Feds (since our fed taxes pay for it already) would impact the Oregon economy. Because a dozen or so employees would lose their state jobs.

Now, as for Kasich. It is hilarious that he whines here using medicaid about we shouldn't make policy based on a bunch of loud whiners yelling at him and his idiot pol brethren. All states do, though, don't they? And until the USSC ruled, all states would have had to accept the increase. Most still did, anyway.

The fact is that even when the Federal additional funds drop, assuming no repeal of ACA, in five years, the Federal government is still covering 90% of the addition.

IF ACA is repealed and replaced there will be a new health insurance regime and all this sturm and drang will be moot, anyway. In the meantime, Ohio expanded coverage and got the feds to pay for it.
